PLEASE HELP! any advice would be amazing! |
I'm not an expert on slapstick humor (The only actors that I know of that perform slapstick humor are Charlie Chaplain and The Three Stooges), but perhaps viewing some comedies of that genre will spur your inspiration?
Some sites that may give you inspiration: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slapstick http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...0325105542.htm |
The rules of slapstick are:
It's all fun and games until someone gets pie'd in the face. Then it's hilarious. The storyline of slapstick is usually pretty mundane or just plain silly, which is okay because the focus is on physical comedy. Lots of people getting tripped, hit over the head with various objects, pie'd, kicked in the balls, etc. But it's all light injuries. The instant someone is actually injured it's all over. Actions and reactions are all over-exaggerated. Actually, Mel Brook's films rely heavily on slapstick physical humor and might be a good modern example/give you an idea of how to incorporate it into the plot. I'm a drama student specializing in play-writing and I hope this helped. :) |
