Sleeping Habits

Sleeping habits, as in:
  • Do you have any routines that needs to be done in order for you to sleep? If so, what are they?
  • How do you fall asleep?
  • Do you sleep with a night light on? If so, what kind of night light is it?
  • Or just talk about stuff relating to sleep (not about dreams or nightmares, since there's a thread on those topics already).

For me, I used to eat cookies, shaped like little bears, with milk, while watching TV. xD But I don't do that anymore.
I never slept with a night light on. However, it's interesting how there are so many different kind of night lights out there. For example, a night light that changes from different colors.

Well, my sleeping habits aren't what I would call particularly odd, but I make sure that every door in my room is closed, I make sure that I've went to the bathroom at least twice and I make absolutely perfect that my room is pitch black and as still as a grave. I can't sleep with sound and I can't sleep with light. Well, now that I read that back, I suppose my habits are just a wee bit odd...^^;

These days, I usually get to sleep at 11:30 or 12:00 if I want to get everything I have to get done in a day done. And I want to get everything done.

So, my sleeping habits are just horrible. I wish I could get more sleep. I'm planning on re-organizing my day somehow.

Sadly, I don't think I'll get to re-organize it next week: Drama Production is needing help and I voluteered.

Ah well. At least I get the sleep necessary on weekends.

Before I'm able to go to bed i need to get my alligator, my yin yang pillow and turn on my monkey night light. I eat a few pieces of dark chocolate and throw it down with a few sips of lemon lime soda. I turn on my shock rock and lay there in full light(my night light illuminates the entire room) and snooze! Oh! I also MUST have my raiders blanket or my fuzzy pink blanket or i can't fall asleep. I'm 15 going on 16 soon and have been doing this ever since i can remember.

I think it'll be easier this way, so:

Do you have any routines that needs to be done in order for you to sleep? If so, what are they?
Ummm...I usually read for a little while, drink some water and turn on some soft music :3

How do you fall asleep?
If you mean position, on my side, legs curled up, hugging a teddybear xD (One of many.)

Do you sleep with a night light on? If so, what kind of night light is it?
I have two on opposite sides of the room.Pink, corset shaped xD (Ones an actual nightlight and the other is a small lamp).I've been afraid of the dark forever ;_;

i usually cant sleep without the light on or like the t.v. on but having it on mute.
and i usually have to sleep in the center of my bed
cuddling my penguin.
if i dont have waddles (my penguin) i cant sleep at all. XP

Queen Fool 10-14-2007 10:38 PM

I don't sleep well. I get about 6 hours on school nights, then on weekends my body just crashes and I sleep like 14 hours. It's probably not healthy, but it fits my schedule best.

manic monochrome 10-14-2007 10:39 PM

i always sleep with the tv on, but on mute.
sometimes i get annoyed with the flashing lights,
and turn it off,
but that's rare.
also, my dog sleeps in my bed with me.
she was sick a few weeks ago,
and had to stay overnight at the vet.
i couldn't sleep at all.

I have to make sure that the curtains cover all of the windows. I hate the thought of someone looking in at me. xD

I can't get to sleep unless there is noise in the room. I either fall asleep with my TV on, or my radio on. No night lights, but if I'm using the TV for my sound that night, it stays on all night so I do have light.

AyaDragonsheart 10-14-2007 10:48 PM

I'm a bit silly in the fact that I don't have a set sleeping habit.

However, I do have a small problem of sleeping with a light on, as in I am unable to sleep. I can doze off or nap, but I won't stay asleep without waking up every few minutes. I wonder if anybody else can't sleep when a light is on.

Usually I end up sleeping on my back, but I tend to roll on one side or the other during the night. Often this causes me to wake up with a sore neck in the morning.

I have to do a whole routine.
And I usually pet my cat for about 10
minutes, or I won't be able to fall asleep.
*-*

I have that problem, too. The lights make it impossible to get into a deep sleep.

for me all of the lights have to be out and my bedroom door has to be shut all of the way.

I don't think I have any routines so to say but sleeping is very difficult for me sometimes.
I usually fall asleep with the T.V. on a timer.
I watch the T.V. for hours before I can actually go to sleep.
Closing my eyes and trying to think peaceful thoughts doesn't work.
Quiet doesn't put me to sleep.
Being too hot makes me tired, but only when I'm no where near a bed. ((EX: 90 deg. F. In Wal-mart; Falling asleep on the cart))
I toss and turn like there is no tomorrow.
I just bought a new bed! It's comfy.
I still toss and turn. Maybe I'm trying to get used to the bed.
I have to use the bathroom a lot during the night.
I never fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.

* Do you have any routines that needs to be done in order for you to sleep? If so, what are they? I need my dog to be on the bed. If she won't sleep then I can't sleep.
* How do you fall asleep? Normally, I just fall on my bed hugging my sheet with my dog by my feet and I open my eyes and it's day.. D:
* Do you sleep with a night light on? If so, what kind of night light is it? At my mom's house I have a glowing alarm clock that changes colors! At my dad's I don't have a night light.
I never get enough sleep! ARGH!

Chexala 10-14-2007 11:15 PM

My sleeping habits are not really habits, because I go to bed and get up at different times every day.

For getting to sleep, my preference is for total silence, and only natural light. Since I live in a dorm, I'm having to adjust to other circumstances.

When I can't sleep, I have a lullaby album that I listen to sometimes. I've been listening to it since I was really little, so it almost always puts me to sleep. If that doesn't work, I play pokemon on my DS until I pass out. ^__^

Parasite 10-14-2007 11:21 PM

I have to sleep in a pitch black room and have every door, even my desk drawers shut! I'm a terribly light sleeper so I hate any type of sound, too. I get irritated by my own breathing so I try to breathe as lightly as possible.

Reki 10-14-2007 11:22 PM

I leave the TV on. I need the sound of something going on, dead silence is like a loud udder to me for some reason ha.... Maybe that would explain why I constantly have need to talk when there's nothing go on :?
I constanly move around in my bed always trying to find a comfortable position and when i wake up half of the pillows are on the other side of the room and the blanket it almost entirley off the bed >_<;; heh heh.
Whenever I'm in the car I always sleep, probably because the car keeps moving and nothing is still. It just a comfortable feeling... i'm getting sleepy just talking about it... ZZZzzzz...

i do that a lot.
i can never sleep on school nights
but on the weekend i'll sleep until like two in the after noon. XP

gothic_lolita_cathedral 10-14-2007 11:26 PM

For me to fall asleep at night I need to make sure I am bathed and that my hair is pulled back. I also gotta empty my bladder or I will toss and turn all night.
I sleep with my leg thats on top crossed over and laying on the bed as well as my bottom leg.
I very rarely need any light in my room, but once I do I just open my door and let the hallway light shine in my room.

dreamerice 10-14-2007 11:28 PM

I usually go to bed around 10 pm to 11 pm, and i sleep good through the night, but my daughter who is 23 can't sleep at night she stays up all night and sleeps during the day, she has a phobia about sleeping at night she has really bad insomnia Maybe shes a vampire

Kurai Amaya 10-14-2007 11:35 PM

I always read before I go to bed. Or play my Gameboy. And I must ALWAYS listen to music until I'm about second away from falling asleep. Then I turn it off, and fall asleep right away.

I sleep on my stomach, with on hand on my hip/hip bone and the other by my chin holding the blanket to me. I usually have two pillows over my head.
I use only the corner of one pillow under my head, with my head turned to the side. I can even sleep without a pillow under me.

Other than that... I can sleep almost anywhere, as long as I have music, and am on my stomach.

Moonlight_Abyss 10-14-2007 11:43 PM

I can't sleep during daylight. Only if I'm ill and need extra sleep can I do that. I sleep in total darkness, except for the moonlight that pours through my window (if there is a moon out at night). I sleep on an average of 8 hours a night. I sleep from 11 PM to 7AM, on average. Generally the later I sleep, the earlier I get up. XD It's kind of odd. So if I fall asleep at 1AM I'll probably wake up at 5AM or maybe earlier, it depends. Also if there is an event that I'm looking forward to the next day, I will wake up early, automatically. It's kind of cool because I don't need an annoying alarm clock to wake me up. But sometimes I do oversleep, but it doesn't happen often.

Rabid Ice Weasel 10-14-2007 11:48 PM

I can't have any light or any noise as I try to sleep. I always wake up 2-5 times per night for no reason whatsoever. It's pretty bad. xD;

[SARGASM] 10-14-2007 11:50 PM

I usually sleep on my front or right side with my legs curled up and my hands between my thighs.

If I go to bed any later than 1AM, I won't be able to sleep until 3AM.

I used to have a night light, just because it was cute.
It was an orange dinosaur, but then it burnt out.

I can sleep in almost any condition because I travel a lot and I need to sleep because of the weird times.

Plus I'm not a morning person, so I have to sleep until noon, or have at least 8 hours.
