Wow I hate school its so boring this whole town is boring. "Hey Nicky do you think your mom will let us go to the mall after school today?" I whisper to my BFF.
"Ms. Collins is there something you'd like to share with the class?" Says Mr. Manncus
"No." I reply.
"Then I'd appreciate it if you would stop talking in my class!" He says. Class ends and school is finally out.
"Hey Raven did you here about the family that moved into that cool house on Benson hill?" Asks Jason.
"Dang what a lucky family...No why?" I reply.
A bunch of preps walk by "We heard they were Vampires and thought you would fit in great." They laugh.
"God i hate them!" I say.
"You're not the only one!" My friends reply.
"Anyway I thought we could invite their kids to your Halloween party so they get to know some people." Jason says.
"That would be cool!"
"Hey Raven I asked my mom about the mall and she said it's fine." Nicky says.
"Hey if you guys want to come by my house later tonight we can all go up and to the Benson mansion and invite them to my party." I tell my friends.
"Okay see ya later Ray!" People in the group yell out as i walk away.

Oh umm perhaps i should tell you a little about my life before I get to far ahead of myself. My name isn't really Raven it's Ranee but my friends call me Raven or Ray depending on who it is. I'm 17 years old and live with both my parents and my older brother, John, who will hopefully get a life and move out soon (He's 22), my annoying little sister, Bridget, who never stays out of my room, and our two dogs, Chuck and Peggy, she's mine. My parents are pretty cool and sometimes annoying, but who has perfect parents. My best friend in the whole world is Nichole or Nicky we are like sisters! Her boyfriend's name is Steve and his best friend is Jason, and everybody loves him. I have a lot of other friends too, but you'll find out who they are later on.
"Okay girls you have money, cells and Ray your mom is picking the both of you up right?" Kat asks worried.
"Yes, Yes, and Yes!" We both reply.
"Okay have fun girls."
"Bye mom" Nicky replies. “So what are we looking for?” We walk into the mall.
“Hmm just a few things for the party and we need to stop at Beyond Pale to look at a corset for my costume.”
“Okay, so what time is your mom picking us up? Because I wanted to go to The Sport Store and visit Steve.”
“She'll be here around 4:30 so we have time.”
“Okay cool, Oh wow did you see that?” She says as we head toward the escalator.
“See what?”
“That guy was totally checking you out, dork!”
“So, you know I'm looking for someone to keep not just to date for a week!”
“Oh come on, ask for his number.”

“No! Now stop crimany. If he comes over here maybe but you know he wont!”
“He might if I persuade him.”
“No and thats final gosh!” We walk into Beyond Pale.
“Fine go look at corsets then!”
“Fine I will and you better not go flirt for me!” I demand. She always does this shes been trying to get me boyfriend for two years now and I'm getting tired of it but she knows I can't stay angry with her for long.
“Ooh this ones cute” She holds up a green, blue, and black corset”and so if this one” She holds up a boys arm”you should try them out!”
“Stop it! I'll try the corset, But the boy I'm sorry about my friend now let him go!”
“She's more fun at parties!” She says as he leaves.
“Give me that you pest!” I say annoyed and head toward the dressing room. “Will you ever stop?” I ask from behind the dressing room door.
“Not until you get a boyfriend. So how does it look?”
“It's nice a little small and the colors wont match the rest of my outfit.” I come out for her to see.
“Yeah maybe black and purple or red! Go change and I'll start looking.”
“Okay.” I change and go to find her, But of course instead of looking at clothes shes looking at boys. I walk up behind her and pretend I don't know them and yes shes trying to get me a date. So I grab her sides and begin tickling her mercilessly!
“Stop! Raven Stop!” She giggle and snorts!
“Only if you agree to stop as well!” I say continuing to tickle her.
“Fine anything as long as you stop!” She says lying on the floor laughing hysterically! I stop and help her up.
“Your so evil!”
“I could have kept going and embarrassed you even more!”
“True” She says and turns back to the boy she was talking to before”by the way the evil one is Raven the girl I was talking about, But she doesn't want to date I'm sorry.”
“That's okay I kinda figured. Well bye then.” He says and walks away laughing a bit.
“Thank you!” I say eager for him to get out of the store.
“He was so sweet too. By the way your impossible.” We go back to looking at clothes and I try on a few corsets until I find the perfect one black and red with lace. I buy it and some make- up and earrings. Nicky buys a couple of t-shirts and we leave and head for The Sports Store. Nicky visits with Steve while I snoop. Time passes slowly and I decide to get a cookie, I ask if she wants one, but she says no so I go alone. I come back and it's 4:25 so she says goodbye and we head toward the exit.

We get out to the front of the mall and sit on a bench to wait on my mom.”Well that was fun.” she says.”We should come here more often! You should drive to school tomorrow and pick me up. Then we can do something after school.”

“Mmm Hmm.” I reply then stay quit, ponder the universe and stare at the sky, until my mom drives up and we get in the car.
“Did you girls have fun?” my mom asks.
“Yeah.” We both reply.
“Hey mom is it okay if me and my friends go up to Benson hill tonight and invite the new family over for the Halloween party?”
“Sure sweetie thats fine. Will you be staying over for dinner Nicky? Were having Roast beef and mashed potatoes.”
“That would be wonderful thanks.” Nicky replies. We get to my house run up to my room and I try on my costume. “It look s awesome Ray! I wish I had the same costume!”
“Yeah it's pretty great.”
“Ranee your friends are here!” My mom yells up the stairs.
“Okay we'll be down in a minute!” I reply. “Grab a couple invites will ya Nicky.”
“Okay I'll be downstairs.” I change my clothes and run downstairs.
“We're leaving mom!”
“Okay be back before 7 please.” She yells from the kitchen.
“Okay bye!” I yell back. We leave and walk toward Benson Hill.
“So my mom heard at work that they don't come out during the day and at night they have umbrellas and sunglasses” Kathy strikes up a conversation. “I think thats why those preps said there Vampires, but that could be a rumor too.”
“It probably is but who knows, some people dress strange these days take Doris for example.” Joe mocks.
“Hey!” Doris says hitting him in the arm. ”If you weren't my boyfriend I'd clobber you!”
“Settle down you two were almost there!” Mary pipes up.
“Nicky you have the invites right?” I ask
“Yeah.” she responds. We walk up the driveway of the spooky but fantastic mansion and ring the doorbell. While waiting for someone to answer I look up and see the attic window curtains move and not much light, but no one answers the door.
“Well that sucks!” Joe says.
“Yeah!” Everyone replies. We all leave but while walking back to my house I turn back and see I barely light figure in the attic window.
“Maybe they went back out of town again” Says Kathy. “ They've left every weekend since they moved in, to go to Romania and come back with a bunch of stuff, I think there still moving in.”
“That would have been good to know before we came down here.” I say. I decide then that it must have been my imagination and that I'm going to come back and sneak in later tonight. In that instant the Iron wrought gate closes behind us. “Creepy” I say as I turn around.
“Yeah.” Everyone agrees.
“Must have been the wind.” says Joe Turning to keep walking. Everyone but me turns and walks away but I still see that strange figure in the window.
“Ray you coming?” asks Nicky.

“Yeah, hey do you see anyone standing in the attic window of the mansion?” I ask We both turn to look but the figure is gone.
“No are you okay? You've been acting strange since we got here!” She asks skeptically.
“Yeah I'm fine.” We continue to walk and I block it out of my mind. We get back to my house everyone but Nicky leaves. My mom finishes dinner just as my dad and brother get home.
“Hey Ray how was school?” Dad asks me before heading upstairs to get my little sister.
“Fine.” I reply.
“Nicky nice to see you as well.” He says to her as she walks down the stairs.
“You to Mr. Collins.” She says
“Dinner”My mom calls from the kitchen. We all come in for dinner. It's quit as we eat. Once were all finished my mom grabs some brownies from the oven and serve them with ice cream. After dessert Nicky leaves and I help mom with the dishes.
“Mom after we finish can I take Peggy for a walk?” I ask. I'm not taking her to walk her, but just to get out of the house and to Benson hill. I've been inside the mansion before when I was 8, it was a dare. I did it without fear as well.
“Sure, just don't be out to late, okay.” She answers.
“Okay.” We finish the dishes and I take Peggy out for her so called walk. We run to Benson Hill and oddly the gate is open again. I go around to the back of the house and tie Peggy to a water faucet. The last time I crept into the house there was a basement window that had been broken out all the way, and luckily nothing had changed. I slid into the window it was a little tighter fit than last time but I fit fine. There were a lot of crates and boxes down here, so I had to watch my step very carefully. I walked up the stairs to main floor and down the small hallway now full of paintings. I found the grand staircase and started up very slowly, but the steps still squeaked a bit more than I would have liked. I got to the top of the stairs and turned down the hall to look for the attic stairway. As I turned down a narrow hall with a small stair case at the end I felt a cold hand around my wrist. I turned around as slowly as humanly possible and saw the most gorgeous guy in the entire world. But of course I couldn't help but scream. He had his other hand gently over my mouth before even 2 seconds passed. Now about how gorgeous he was he was tall and he had a nice body. He had long black hair about the shoulders and bright blue eyes. He let go of my mouth and my wrist.
“So why are you sneaking around my house?” He asked in a velvet soft romantic voice that could have come from Dracula himself.
“Oh umm you live her or I mean here? Sorry I'll just leaf I mean I'll just leave.” I stuttered stupidly and I'm sure I was blushing.
“You don't have to leave if you don't want to, you're more than welcome to stay. My name is Adrian whats yours?” Again the voice of angel so soothing and sweet.
“Mm mm my name is Ranee but every one calls me Raven.” again I stutter idiotically.
“Nice to meet you Raven.” He bows slightly. I reach into my pocket and hand him the invitation I saved.
“This is for you I came by earlier but no one answered.”
“So you broke in?” he asks sweetly.
“No well sorta I guess. I have to go but come to my party anyone else in your family is welcome as well.” I tell him.

“I'll walk you to the front door.” He emphasizes front.
“It was nice to meet you Adrian.”
“As was you Raven.” He replies in his velvety voice. I start to wonder down his driveway when I remember my poor dog in his backyard. I turn around and he's behind me with my dog in his arms. “Forget something?” He asks sarcastically but still sexy and sweet.
“Yeah sorry.” I say staring at my feet.
“It's fine he says she's rather cute and friendly!” He says kissing her neck and handing her to me.
“Thanks, and don't forget my party it's only a couple weeks away!” I say walking backward down his driveway with my dog in my arms.
“I think we'll see each other before then, Farewell till' then.” He says as gentle manly as he could. I hope so I say in my head. I turn and walk down the street, but before turning down my street I look back for one quick glance but he's already gone. So I run to my house after putting Peggy down. I walk in the house and put the leash away. I head upstairs to get ready for bed when my mom calls from the kitchen.
“That you Ray?” She asks.
“Yes, I'm going to bed okay.” I answer back
“Okay see you in the morning sweetie.”
“Night!” I go to my room with Peggy trailing behind me. When we get to my room she jumps on my bed and lays down to go to sleep. I go to the window and open the curtains so I can see Benson hill and the bats flying outside. I change into Nightmare Before Christmas pajamas and write in my diary before hitting the sack. An hour or so after falling asleep I hear a scratching at my window. Not bothering to turn on the light I go to the window, open it and look out. Theres a small bat flying there right in front of me. It's so cute and has these adorable little blue eyes, Strange for a bat but I don't care I stare at it until it flies away and I go back to bed.

At about 6am my Hello Batty alarm goes of with some nice Rock n' Roll and I get up to go to school. I can't wait to tell Nicky about last night. She'll probably tell all about how much trouble I could have gotten into but oh well I don't care. It was absolutely thrilling! I take a shower get dressed and head down for breakfast.
“Want a ride to school today?” My mom asks sipping her coffee.
“No thanks Nicky wants me to drive today so we can do something after school.” I reply from behind the funnies.
“Okay but call and tell me where your going after school.” She says.
“Kay.” I finish and head out to my barely driven Lotus. I saved for years to get this car and I was paranoid about driving it, but I figured no harm a couple times a year.
