Must... Not... Screw... Up... Form...
I'm back from my Taekwondo exam. I can safely say that I've never been so nervous in my life. Yesterday night, I had problems with demonstrating my form in front of my mom. I kept falling or placing my legs wrong. So more or less, I was scared of messing up during the real thing. Amazingly, I passed and I'm going to get my Orange Belt on Tuesday. =D I even did all 20 of my push ups without feeling tired. And I'm horrible at push ups!
Have you ever gotten nervous about something before, only to find that you've aced it? |
Yeah, mostly with exams, tests and classes. When I get nervous, I become forgetful. If I could calm down and remember what I studied, I'd probably have done better. ><;
I've only failed one class in high school, thankfully. The teacher was a complete douche. |
Ooo did you pass?
I got to white belt with a yellow stripe in the middle. XD And then I quit. |
Gah, I hate it when that happens! D= Its like, you studied hard and you know the material, but when you need to know it, you forget everything!

@ Maire - Yeah, I did pass. xD I'm not sure what that rank is, but I'm sorry you quit. This is fun for me. Useful too, if people in High School decide to push me into a locker.
@ Ariel - xD Its funny how our brains work, isn't it? |
I always get really nervous when I have to speak in public for presentations or speeches or something. I always panic and say the wrong things but I usually get a decent grade for those types of things. Sometimes I think the teacher's pity me and, for that, they give me a good grade. ^^;;

I use to take gymnastics when I was little. Those judges are strict! Even on little 2nd graders ._.
I remember I was doing a performance on Bars. That's my favorite event so I always wanted to do my best on it. When I was done, I felt like I screwed the whole thing up and let my team down. But then I saw that I got a really good score and I got 2nd place in that event o: |
@ Trekkie - I can relate with you there. I used to take Speech and Debate last year at my school. I actually did pretty well in all my speeches, it was my debating I had issues with.
@ Ariel - I feel that way all the time, since I usually don't study. You think being over-confident the first ten thousand times would set me straight, but no... @ Uzura - Congratz! I've always wanted to take gymnastics, but I have no flexibility to speak of. xD |
My friends always tell me to 'not worry' about a test because they're sure I'll do fine on it. I'll usually do.
I have pretty good grades - but I still freak out on tests and exams because I know information flys out of my head when I need it. Being nervous is human. If I was over confident for the test, I'll be shattered if I get a bad score. |
Lol, back then I never had tests for karate. When they see that I'm good enough, they give me the new coloured belt. XD I stopped at orange. Dx (Level 3 at my place)
|
I used to swim for a team before my knee surgery and before meets I would get super nervous. Once I was racing backstroke and got so caught up I forgot to count my strokes and hit my head on the wall...which is a disqualification cause it wasn't a hand ^-^
|
@ Life - I usually just laugh off the bad scores, when inside, I'm boiling. Usually with disappointment, determination to do better, and a flare of competition when I see someone that's done better than me. xD
@ Sadistix - Its different in Taekwondo. xD We all have to take tests to show that we're prepared to get our new rank. And Orange is second highest here, that's what I'm getting now. I'm not gonna stop until I'm a blackbelt! |
Congratz.
I should take up some kind of martial art, but I've never gotten around to it. |
I remember taekwondo exams. T^T I also remember for my yellow belt, it took me like 100 tries to break the wooden board for the first time.
A thing that I thought was impossible to do but I aced was my german speech. I had to memorize a speech in German and it counted towards a grade for the midterm. When I was praciticing it from memory at home, I keep messing up and missing bits here and there. It was really annoying, but when I actually said the speech to the class, it was fine and I got everything perfect! ^w^ |
I was terrified of failing my class. (I just started back to school and didn't want to mess it all up.) But I found out Thursday that I've totally aced it. So I'm quite happy.
|
I get nervous like that when I have exams for the class that I am taking. I panic and worry myself so much that I just forget what I have learnt or studied. I know its all about the frame of mind but I think that we should try to focus on happiness rather then worrying ourselves sick over these things. Happiness is alot more important then any exam I believe. But I know to get anywhere in life you need a healthy amount of stress and what not too.
|
I get nervous the same way as most of the people bellow me do. Whenever I have a test, I tend to get so nervous that I end up freaking out just to realise I understand it.
|
As horrible as this sounds, I don't worry about even things I should worry about. Like my ACTs, and such. I breezed through them without even thinking, then found I did pretty good.
|
hmmm yeah but its never a physical test..like how the teacher says how our class did horrible on our tests which has happened two in last couple of weeks..on both tests i scored in the high 70's and with test corrections got in the 80's..
|
Oooooh! Congrats!
I got a green belt, then I quit, but only because my mom was complaining about the costs *Shakes fist* When I get nervous, I dont pass anything, and if I do, just barely. Example: My math final, I passed with a '51.4%' ._. I'm glad to say I phail. |
I get super super nervous when I sing infront of other people.
But the last time that I did, i ended up making my teacher cry and everyone else was just like "wow" Always have confidence, because you never really know how good you are at something until you give your best! |
I'm not very good at Social Studies. I'm really only in advanced because it's paired with English, which I am decent at. Every test this year I've been convinced I'd fail, and I have a 100 average right now...

@ Violist - You should start as early as possible. I swear, there are black belts half my size that could easily beat the living daylights out of me if they wanted to. ._.;
@ Ayla - You have to break a wooden board for your yellow belt? Dx; Now I'm intimidated. And my hand is starting to ache, on top of that. Heh, I hope we have nothing like that in Spanish. I can write it pretty well, but its speaking it that's going to cost me dearly. @ Puppet - Heh, I love it when that happens. When you're sure you've done so bad, then when you get it back, you've aced it. <3 @ Woop - I needed something to take up some of my spare time, so I decided on Taekwondo. It's hard sometimes, but it makes me do things I could never do before. Like, push ups. I couldn't even do one in PE, then during my exam, I did 20 perfect. o.o @ Somercy - I wish I had your confidence. xD @ Goldfish - Ironically, I retook a science test recently. I got a lower grade than before. xD I didn't even know that was possible. @ Shizukesa - Thanks. D= That's depressing! I'm not going to quit until at least I can hold my own against a black belt. But honestly, I don't want to ever stop. <3 o.o; And I'm sorry to hear. I would be dead if I brought home that test. @ Tuna - I can't really sing, so I'd be nervous too. Everyone else would be, too. Unless they had anything nearby to stuff their ears with. @ Fool - Heh. My main academic worry is math and espanol. D= I'm not doing so well in Espanol. |
