Part of My story
I was looking through my computer, reading old short stories I've written, and came upon this. >__>; I was writing a book; the main character would be Blyr, and the new character was someone I had come up with on a whim, which would be a smaller character in the story. This was how I imagined their meeting, though it isn't complete.. I just want to see what people think, and decide there if I should keep writing this book, or pursue a more macabre writing style..
Blyr and Ninky's Meeting Through his various course in travelling, Blyr finally met Ninky. He was sitting in a bar, going about his usual business of running up as high a tab he could, (before immediately fleeing the next day), when he heard an uproar from the nearby table. At first glance, he saw a bunch of men sitting at a table, talking and chatting. Yet, something caught his eye. When he looked again, he saw all male aura.. except for one smaller man, sitting there. The man looked a tad weak, with short hair, yet the other men didn't seem to notice. Of course, Blyr could see the aura; mortal males and females had different aura. It was odd, yet creatures from the nether realm had an entirely different aura altogether. Of course this gave him ideas about the true exsistance of males and females, but this wasn't important now. He walked over to the table, and cleared his throat. All of them looked at him, as he bowed, and looked at the male impersonator. "Good evenin', I've come to ask you bunch a favor. I'm soon going to partake on a dangerous journey, and I'd like a body guard to accompany me. I'm not very skilled with a weapon, and so I'd need one of you lot to help me out;" he then hunched over a bit, to look frail, while the "men" discussed. One of them stood up, and said "Aye, we'll help ye. For a price, of course." "Of course;" Blyr nodded. "20 gold pieces, sound fair?" The men stared in awe. "W-Why of course, my good sir!" "Hrm.. but i'll only need one of you," he said, rubbing his hand under his chin, pretending to think. "You." he said, pointing at the female. "M-me?" she squeaked, then quickly caught herself, and said in as deep a voice as she could muster, "Of course. I'll do it, for the honor of my fellow warriors!" she exclaimed, then held up a mug of ale. "Aye!" the others exclaimed as well, as they held up their mugs too. Then all took a long drink. "Excellent. Meet me outside here in the morning, and I'll be ready to travel." He then talked to the inn keeper, establishing that he had a running tab, and went to a room upstairs, for a good nights rest. In the morning, he slipped a bit of sleeping powder under the inn keeper's nose, and stood outside, to wait. After several moments, the female finally approached. "Hello there, sir." "Good morn to ye," he replied. "So, lad, do you have a name?" he asked. "N-Ninky, sir.." "Ah, Ninky, a fine name. A fine name indeed!" he said, as he patted "him" on the chest. Ninky blushed for a moment, about to protest, then remembered her role, and bit her tongue. They traveled a ways out of town, when Ninky finally spoke. "Sir, it's awefully rude to ask for someone's name, without giving your own.." "Ah, true.. Call me..Blyr." Just then, he caught his opportunity. They were walking up a cliff path, when he suddenly "slipped", taking hold of Ninky's leg, in an attempt at balancing himself, which ended up causing them both to stumble and fall into a mound of dirt. "Blah, sorry about that, Ninky." "Not a problem, sir. One such as myself is used to being dirtied like this." And so it seemed, although Blyr could tell by her aura, she was irritated. "Hrm, Ninky, I've traveled this way a bit before myself; not too far, mind you, but just far enough to know there's a stream ahead." He couldn't let on that he knew exactly where they were going, otherwise she might catch on that this was all a trick. "A s-stream, you say?" she uttered, blushing. If he saw her naked, he'd know! And if she saw him naked.. she blushed darkly again. "Um. sir, as I said before, I'm quite used to being dirty.. I won't mind it." "Nonsense!" he shouted, increasing his pace. "A brave warrior such as yourself shan't be dirtied up. You'll need to be clean! If anyone travelling by sees us, they may think we're bandits, and attack us!" and it was true; bandits were known to travel on worn paths, with yellowed teeth, and torn, dirtied clothes. She smacked her forhead. Fool! It would all be over soon.. and then he'd know. She'd have to kill him, of course; because if he told anyone, all her work would be for not.."As you wish, sir.." she whispered, sighing. When they finally reached the stream, Blyr was already stripping down, washing his clothes as he washed himself. "C'mon in, Ninky. This fresh water will liven' ye!" he shouted to her. "I-I'll just go over here, and give ye some privacy, sir.." She said. There just might be a way to escape yet.. "Nonsense! we're both men here, come sit next to me!" As she started undoing her top, Blyr burst out laughing. She turned beet red. "What's so funny?!" "Nothing, lass. Keep your clothes on. I knew you were a woman since the inn." She stared. How could he have known? Was her disguise that weak? No one had noticed yet, had they? Maybe they knew, but were pretending not too for her sake; How could she have been so stupid! "Calm down, lass. No one knows but me." He read her like a book. "I can see your aura. I can tell these things. Although you might want to put some meat on your bones, or someone is going to find out sooner or later.." He then let her wander off in privacy, to wash normal. |
That was a great story. It makes me wonder what kind of guy Blyr is. I mean what kind of race... how he is able to see male and female aura, and what he meant by 'mortal auras' were different from 'nether realm auras'. The whole thing about Ninky dressing up like a man, reminds me of a story I read recently-- The Three Sisters by Rebecca Locksley. One of the sisters dressed as a man because female warriors were frowned upon. Anyway, your story is awesome, and I think you should continue. ^^ |
<___<;; You'd have to have read the first few chapters of the book I wrote, to understand Blyr's background. xD It's interesting. >__>;;
^__^ I'm glad you liked it. x-x; I was worried that it wouldn't be received well, and I'd be all "..D:" ><; |
