I wonder, How many girls here can apply makeup properly?
I know most of you use eyeliner or mascara daily.
But when it comes to special occasions, do you know how to make yourself look outstanding? Because even though everyone thinks it's nothing special, there's quite a lot of girls who get confused by all the different colors and shades. What's your favorite brands? So, how good are you with makeup? Do you have anyone to help you with it? Pics: http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/3153/makeup2ar1.jpg http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/3871/bbmakeupyn7.jpg |
I can apply my makeup properly, but my sister showed me how. She's a beautician so She knows all the spiffy little tricks. I can really only do my daytime makeup nicely. If I have to put on a lot to get that dramatic evening effect I let me sister do it.

I can't really put on make up, in fact I didn't even start wearing any until this year, now all I use is occasionally mascara and foundation. I wish now that I had taken my mum up on her offer to pay for me to go to a beauty course but I was still really young and I was a bit of a tom boy.

Well, firstly I don't use face make=up, like foundation and blusher etc. I have naturally clear skin and rosy cheeks, so I've never needed it.
My eye make-up depends on my lipstick- natural, light or no lipstick, means I can go heavier on the eye make-up (without EVER going for that awful "scene" racoon look, dear god, girls, what are you thinking?) In the day time, I usually just use a little eyeliner under my eyes, just enough t give them some definition. Then my eye-shadow usually matches my clothes. At nighttime, I'll usually wear the same amount of eyeliner, a very natural (usually light brown) eye-shadow, but go heavy on the mascara, or even wear fake eye-lashes if it's a special occasion. Then wear my bright red 40s-style lipstick. |
I know how, but I don't wear makeup so I'm extremely out of practice. My sister could probably do it perfectly in the dark though.
|
I hvae no clue how to.
So, I don't usually wear it, I wore some to the dance once. But I ended up taking it off cause my friends said I look like Barbie. -___- |
I used to be a cosmetician - facialist/make-up artist - so, I've had some practice on my own face as well as others. Still look to see what all is out there with make-up because styles and products change so much. I don't get myself stuck in a rut.

Man, I can put on mascara and eyeliner well.
But give me a thing of lipstick and I'm dead. |
|
Lipstick i can manage, but anything else i've never known how to put it, as my mom has never worn it and i have no other female relatives to show me.
My friends don't wear it an awful lot either. Perhaps if i invested in some desent products, i might be able to fatham make-up out, but it's not something that bothers me a great deal. I think alot of people once they start wearing it never look the same without it after. |
I never wear make-up. I've worn lipstick and mascara a hand full of times in my life. I just find it uncomfortable. I know absolutely nothing about make-up. For musicals and plays, I'll do my own make-up or have someone help me depending on the time. Stage make-up isn't supposed to make you look good though. It's just about slathering as much on your face as possible. xD

Like, your mother or sister or even a friend? |
Sometimes when I have a huge zit in the morning, I steal my sister's cover-up and just cover away!
|
The only things my friends wear is eyeliner and mascara. xD
And my sister and mother? My mother doesn't go out much, and my sister is younger then me. o: |
Aww.
Haha, I guess i'm lucky then. My mother knows pretty much everything about makeup. Hmm. Maybe, someone in a makeup store could help you? They usually know a lot, and they're supposed to be customer-friendly. C: |
D: Well, I put on eyeliner during special occasions *Is a guy*
But when I put mine on, it looks lke someone gave me a shiner. |
just don't go to a department store clounter or you'll end up looking like a clown Haru >.<
|
Why do you think so? x:

im a teater member.
guys or girls should be able to put on their own makeup. of course no messing up. |
I generally do my make myself for special occasions. But I don't really over do it and make myself look extra fabulous or anything. Though I imagine if I really wanted to look super nice for some occasion, I would probably go to a department store and get the ladies at the cosmetic counters to do something special ^^:

OMG, I wouldn't have a clue about everyday makeup.
On the other hand, I studied moulage (the art of recreating traumatic injuries or the effects of illness) as part of my volunteer work in HAZMAT. We do a fake incident every year, and I get to make people up to look dead or injured. In honor of Halloween, here's a little trick for you to enjoy: HOW TO MAKE REALISTIC BRUISES: You will need eyeshadow (dollar store type is okay) in the following styles and colors: grape purple in liquid (or stick) magenta (purple with a lot of red in it) in liquid AND powder olive green in powder goldenrod yellow in powder For a brand-new bruise: Put a layer of magenta powder, then apply grape liquid on top in an irregular pattern reaching to within 1/4 inch of the edge of the magenta layer. You can seal the bruise with magenta powder if you wish, to prevent smearing. 3-day-old bruise: Put a layer of olive powder, then a smaller irregular layer of magenta powder. Then dot the magenta areas with little dots of both magenta and grape liquid. Seal with magenta powder if desired. one-week-old bruise: Put a very wide layer of yellow powder, then a smaller layer of olive powder. Near the center, apply a small irregular layer of magenta powder and a few dots of magenta liquid. Seal with olive powder. These "recipes" also make great black eyes. Starting with the inner corner of the eye (at the tear duct), spread a layer of olive about 2/3 of the underside of the eye. Then overlay with magenta powder for about half of the original length, and draw a smudged like of grape liquid starting at the tear duct and following the under-eye wrinkle line for about 1/s inch. Not too much grape, just put a fine line and then smudge it. |
I know how to wear makeup in theory - but in practice I just don't.
I almost never put any makeup on - it's simply more effort than I am willing to put into my appearance. Sometimes when we're going out somewhere nice I'll throw on some eyeliner and mascara, little bit of eyeshadow- but never so much so that a person can tell I'm really wearing makeup. When my brother got married I went to a cosmetics counter in Strawbridges and got makeup done- the girl did a really nice job and made sure I was OK with each color and everything before moving on to the next thing. I made sure that she knew I was a minimalist and she kept the makeup very natural looking. I generally find it a waste of my money - but some people don't feel right without it - so I guess to each his/ her own. |
I'm really weird with make-up, my big sister taught me how to apply it properly, but I NEVER wear make-up (I've probably only worn make-up a few times xD), but I'm good at putting it on other people :3
|
Hmm...I'm alright at dolling myself up, if the need arises. Some days I just really feel like wearing it.
Most days I don't bother, it's more hassle than it's worth. But I do enjoy doing other people up. So I've been known to comandeer my sister and her friends, and make them sit through my little makeovers. Apparently I'm pretty good at it, as they've stopped arguing, and have even asked me to do it here and again. |
I don't mess with makeup. Not my deal. *shrugs*
