Ghosts Real or Fantasy??!!! I want to hear a good story :)

It's that time of year again were we all ponder the existence of the supernatural...

This is one of my dads stories, wether it's true or not I don't know. I was born in 1985 and there were more supernatural occurances after this as well I'd love to go back to this house as I wasn't there for very long and see if it actually does have an eeire prescence to it. If any of you have any ghost stories your family has told you or you have had any experiences post here :) I'd love to see or take a picture of a real ghost the closest I got was here at a church on new years eve...

and here this was at my boyfriends workplace we were locking up and I took this picture it was quite funny because the flash made him jump and after that I cahnged the levels in photo shop and found orbs.. (I am skeptical about orbs tho)

Back in 1982 I was Living in a Late Victorian terrace house in Long Eaton(Hemlock Avenue)
I only had one functioning bedroom that had a double bed and another single bed tucked in the corner of the room next to the window onto the street.
I had just split up, relatively amicably, with my girlfriend but for the time being she was still living in the house (long story..don't ask)
One evening she had a friend (girl) stay over. They went to bed in the double and I took my place in the single. There were no curtains in the room so street lights and a bright moon were shining in.
I found myself staring over to the double bed area and could see the friend (Deb) kneeling next to the bed as if in prayer...I stared for a few seconds, blinked while my eyes adjusted , she was still ther so I called out "Deb, you ok"..she responded "Yeah"..worryingly though her response didnt come from the
figure at the side of the bed but the far side where she was sleeping.
"Are you in bed" I asked "Yes why" she replied...now I dont know if something in my voice had triggered it but she sounded scared herself...
"Could you put the bedside lamp on please " I implored.
"Why?"
"Cos i think theres something by the bed"
By this time both her and ex g/friend were in a flap and were thrashing around trying to find switch...I couldnt s! ee them only heard them cos I was all the time still staring at this figure...the light eventually came on and the figure was gone "Did you see it?" I asked, and explained frantically what I'd seen.
"No" they both replied cos they'd kept their eyes shut out of fear...I had to spoend the rest of the night between them in the double bed, as much to soothe my fear as theirs.
I've tried to analyse this and looked for explanations like clothes hanging casting shadows etc. but there was nothing there that could've done it. I never saw that apparition again but did have experiences in that house, though none as lucid and none as visible manifestations.

another one my dad told me was when My mum and dad were at home watching the Excorcist their clock stoped at the exact same time as the one in the movie did.

Also apparently I was locked in my room for some time and my mum was trying to get in she had left me asleep in the cot but apparently I was sitting ontop of the baby changing unit and there was some plastic balls blocking the door, my mum claimed I didn't have any of those at the time.

I don't have any ghost stories. Those pics are pretty though... And I do believe ghosts exist. There have been stories of them for quite some time, so their must be truth in them.

When I was newly married, my husband & I lived in his parents house. His parents didn't live there, we were house sitting basically until it sold. It was an old old farm house, his grandparents had built the house, his Dad inherited it from them. When we moved in, our oldest daughter was almost three, and our second daughter was a new born. My brother and his wife were also staying with us for a time. The house was huge, there was plenty of room. My newborn slept in the same room as we did, so I could hear her when she woke in the middle of the night.

Well, one night we were all sleeping and my 3 year old woke me up. Shaking me, saying Mommy, baby cry! Mommy, baby!! Well, I woke up disorientated as the baby was right beside me in her bassinet and she wasn't crying. So I got up, checked her anyway (sleeping soundly) and took my 3 year old out to the family room to avoid waking everyone up. Sure enough, soon as we got in the family room, I could hear the baby crying. So I went back to pick her up, thinking we had woken her. Except she was still sleeping. And you couldn't hear the crying in my bedroom. Soon enough, my brother & his wife came downstairs, thinking it was my baby and I was too tired to wake up. We could all hear the baby crying -- we even went outside and searched around the house, wondering if somehow a baby had been left outside, but no such thing. The baby cried for hours that night, it was very, very strange. That's the night it was the worst, but we heard that baby many times in the two years we lived there.

My husband has many stories of ghosts in that farmhouse, unfortunately, when we moved out we built our house so no ghosts here. I miss them!

Clair Voyant 10-28-2007 06:23 PM

Okay I have two great stories to tell!

First Story- Once right after moving into the home I live in now I had one of my friends over. She walked into the bathroom the ran out again.
"Why is your grandmother just staning in the shower!?" She demanded.I looked at her as if she were crazy.
"What are you talking about!?' I asked.
"Your granny is in the shower!" she cried.
"My grandmothers are both dead!" My friend went pale.
"Then who is the old woman standing in the shower!?"
We both ran to the bathroom, but whatever she saw there was gone. My friend swore to me that she was telling the truth, but I haven't seen anything... I kinda hope it is true!

Second Story- When my dad was six or seven his cousin Jacob, who was the same age, was hit by a car and killed!
Months afterwards, Jacobs mother went to wake up John, Jacobs younger brother.
But he told her that he couldn't go to school because Jacob had told him to go shopping for their younger sister. But they didn't have a younger sister!
His mother became mad and he was forced to go to school.
Nine months later though, John's mother gave birth to a baby girl!
I've asked my Uncle John, thats what I call him, if he really had seen Jacob. He said that Jacob had told him he was going to have a siter and he had even discribed what she'd be like.

Weird, Huh?

MayuSatomiJuRei 10-28-2007 06:24 PM

Zarq thats sounds pretty scary to me. I don't think I could tolerate hearing a baby crying that wasn't your own in a spooky farmhouse... I lived on a farm also and I didn't get any spooky stuff happen there. There was a weird feeling in my grandparents house who lived in the main half of the house next door. But I never experienced anything in those two houses. The only creepy thing I can remember happening to me was I was laying on an ottaman at home in an newish house when I was about 6 or 7 and I opened my eyes and a fuzzy unfocused hand came down over my face I closed my eyes again because it freaked me out I didn't say anything to my mum and dad because I didn't think they'd believe me.

Pkero 10-28-2007 06:28 PM

My friend's grandmother had died a couple years back. She died wearing a white gown and nightcap, and the only person to have seen her was the neighbor who found her dead, and my friend's mom. Another friend of hers was helping her clean out the house, and my friend's mom heard a scream. She ran over to her friend, just in time to see her mother in a white nightcap and white gown.

Pretty fucking cool if you ask me.

Zarq 10-28-2007 06:41 PM

It was frightening when I thought there was a real baby, but once I realized what it was it just made me sad. As far as I had been able to determine, there had never been a tragedy involving a baby or anyone at all in the farmhouse.

The idea of waking up to a ghostly hand covering my face; now that would freak me out. *shiver* Even now at my age (long past 7).

@Clair Voyant: If you had just moved in, I imagine it wasn't your granny. Have you done any research to find out who it might have been? It might be interesting to find out who lived there before.

@MayuSatomiJuRei: I would love to live in an old church like in your photo. Haunted or not, those old churches are just flat out awesome.

@Pkero: Did your friends Grandmother do anything? Or just appear? Any further sightings?

Aminah 10-28-2007 06:45 PM

I have tons of ghost stories. Nothing overly scary, but I'm pretty sure we've had playful spirits around.

The first one I really don't remember, but my mom tells me this all the time. When I was little, I woke up in the middle of the night. I saw someone in the hall, and I told my mom that it was her but with long hair. I don't remember it, but for as long as I've remembered my mom, she's always had short hair. I don't think it was anything malicious, as I didn't flip out or anything.

Since then we've moved into an apartment, but things happen here. Though I've never seen anything, when I'm in the shower in the main bathroom, I always feel like I'm being watched, or that there's someone about to touch me. I also get this distinctive image of someone wearing one of those tacky Hawaiian shirts standing on the other side of the shower curtain. That may just be my imagination, but I never get that feeling anywhere else, even in the other nearly identical bathroom here.

Also, things like to move in my room. I had something sitting on the back of my shelf once. It was heavier, so there was no way a draft or something could have blown it off. All of the sudden in the middle of the night, my sister and I woke up because of a loud crash, and it was lying in the middle of the floor.

then, one time my sister lost her contact lens case. We were sitting in our room, I was reading, and she suddenly asked why I threw something at her. The door was closed, so it hadn't come from the hall. She checked her bed, and, lo and behold, her contact lens case was sitting by her leg where she had been it. It was from the middle of the room, so there was no way it had fallen from a shelf or anythings.

Something similar happened another time. She was adjusting her TV antenna, and the garlic necklace from her Voldemort action figure hit the wall by her hand. Again, the door was closed, and I was the only one in the room with her.

Although I believe in the paranormal, I have never had an experience pertaining to ghosts or spirits. There have been a couple times where paranoia has gotten the best of me and sometimes I think something paranormal has happened to me but, in retrospect, it is obvious that it was just my imagination.
I know old houses tend to creak at night but I tend to forget that when I am in the dark. ^^;;

MayuSatomiJuRei 10-28-2007 06:49 PM

I know there's always something apealing about living in an old church. It would be cool. Although one without a graveyard like this one.. and a really spooky clock tower.. *shudders*

OOHhh actually I found this one of Lincoln Castle (in lincoln UK) I took at the christmas market last year this was weird.

I believe ghosts are real. We had a ghost in our house for a few years actually. She didn't bother anyone else in the house besides me. She would wander the upstairs hallway and bathroom but never enter any of the bedrooms. I could usually feel her watching me, especially when I was alone upstairs (although sometimes when others were also there).

It was never a happy feeling either, it felt like someone was glaring at me. I kept trying to tell myself it was my imagination until I felt a hand touch my back when I was going down the stairs. Thats when I just admitted that something was weird.

I asked my dad a few days later if he had noticed anything odd (since my brother would have freaked out and I didn't know how my mom would react). He was surprised and then a little concerned.

The girl is gone now, she hasn't shown up for about 9 months. I'm not even sure how I know it was a girl ghost, since she never had a corporeal body, just feelings I guess.

Zarq 10-28-2007 07:22 PM

Wow, that's creepy. Did it feel as if she/he were trying to push you? I've never encountered any ghosts that had a bad feeling to them. I imagine if I did, it would squash my interest pretty quickly.

Wynna 10-28-2007 08:16 PM

Could those "orbs" just be water droplets/moisture on the camera lens? :?:

Clair Voyant 10-28-2007 08:25 PM

Ghost stories are scarier when they are actual things that have happened to you, and not someone else!

I think they are faults with cameras but it's just odd that it's the only picture they showed up on.

Long post following -
I'm fairly sure I've seen a ghost once. I can't think of another explanation for what it was.
It was a few years ago and I was staying over at my ex's apartment. He was at work and I was cooking him dinner. I was standing by the stove when one of the landladie;s (they lived in the apartment above us) cats came screaching down the stairs and run into the kitchen. This cat hated me and would never come near me normally, so I was a bit confused. Anyhow not only did it voluntarily come into the same room as me, but it was hiding behind my legs and screaching. It was a Siamese cat and those things sound really evil when they start getting upset. I was looking at the cat when the room started getting cold. I was cooking, and in front of the stove, so it should have been boiling, but it got freezing. The back of my neck was like ice. I got the feeling that someone was watching me and I looked into the hall and saw a man standing there. I couldn't see his face, but he was shaped like a man, and wearing a trench-coat with a hat. I couldn't speak at first, but eventually said the first thing I could think of ... "Would you like some Tacos?". I know it sounds daft, but it was all I could think of at the time. He just kept facing me for a minute or so and then turned around and walked up the stairs to the landladies apartment. Then I heard a god awful scream from upstairs and the other of the landladies cats came howling down the stairs. Now this cat was fat. So fat her belly dragged on the ground. It never came downstairs. It couldn't come downstairs. But it did. In a mighty hurry!
I was trying to think of a logical explanation, so I thought maybe it's a burglar. I couldn't just stand there cooking while someone could be robbing the apartment upstairs. So I walked upstairs. Pushed open their door and... nobody. Nothing. o_0
The cats stayed downstairs with me and wouldn't leave my side for the rest of the evening.
I didn't tell my Ex, or his landladies about it when they got back, as I figured they'd just think I was crazy.
A couple of months after we were invited up to the landladies apartment for dinner, and after we'd eaten we were sitting around talking. One of the ladies, Max, said that they had a ghost that kept moving around her jewelery and that this ghost had followed her home from work (she was a taxi driver) one day and since then it had taken up residence in their apartment. When she described it, it was exactly the same as what I'd seen

MasterChiefrei 10-28-2007 10:24 PM

Awesome story! And I dismiss orbs too because usually it's specks of dust and not very convincing.
Now to talk yer ear off. *cracks knuckles* XD Ignore my story if you want to, like another person said already, ghost stories are scarier when they happen to you. <3
Alright, I had a friend who I used to hang out with all the time at her house. We would usually go on her computer and talk to her friend on IM or make cookies with the tv on. That day we were setting up the kitchen to do just that and she asked me to get a bowl from the cabinet. She was currently washing dishes and putting some of them in the dishwasher. The cabinets are diagnally to her left across the kitchen FYI. So I went over to the cabinet and as I reached for the handle a very large and dark shadow loomed over my own and the head reached the top of the cabinet. I stood there looking at it and turned around quickly only to see my friend still working on the dishes. I looked back and the shadow was gone. I looked around the kitchen and then stood back from the cabinets directly in front and tried to make the shadow. My friend looked at me strangely and asked what I was doing. I asked her if she had moved from where she was and stood behind me a moment ago. She tilted her head and said no, then proceeded to ask why. As I was trying to make my shadow like the one I saw I told her about it and she got a grin on her face. She started to laugh and I thought maybe she had done it somehow *even though it was 6pm around this time of the year...O.o* She said I must've had an encounter with the "White Man" who lurks around her house from time to time. She neglected in telling me about him before so I could have my own experience and tell her without being influenced. So...I believe I had an encounter with her White Man since I didn't know *I do now* that her house was haunted and I didn't know what kind of activity she had. I even made her stand a little bit behind me while I stood in front of the cabinets. Her shadow was no where near as tall or dark like the one before. It's not scary but interesting that I saw something and could confer with her. >w<

I've had plenty of different experiences since I was a toddler. The scariest though ended with me frozen in the road with a rig barreling towards me even though the roads in our neighborhood were small and we never got any vehicle that big come through. Luckily I was with my best friend and she was able to pull me out of the way. This was after we were exploring a forest near my place that had a lot of negative energy. Then later that night after she went home, and she lived hours away, I woke up and say what I thought was her in my computer chair and then she crawled toward me on the bed and whispered 'It's coming' and vanished then I dark figure came into my room through my window and flew over me and I was frozen again for what seemed like hours and I tried to yell to my sister in the room next to mine, but when I finally could talk again nothing more than a slight squeak came out. God I get chills just thinking about it...

I do believe in the power of the mind as well. If you truly do not believe in ghosts and spirits they can't do anything to you and you'll never see them, assuming they do exist and visa versa if they don't. I personally do believe they do and try to always be cautious, especially after the rig incident.

LanyaD 10-28-2007 10:50 PM

I've got a ghost story or two for you all.

Since I was a kid I could always sense things that werent there. It didnt become apparent to me that I could see ghosts until one of my pets died. The problem is now I can actually feel when one of my pets die or if someone I know and am close to dies. so in short I can see and feel ghosts when they are around me. I see my dead cats all the time as they run past me tripping me up. If im walking down the hall way or if I'm in bed I can feel them walking on the bed to curl up with me. I guess you could say it was my imagination but it just keeps happening. even at other peoples houses I can see their pets if they walk into the room. And I'm pretty sure there was the ghost of a child in this house I'm in now. Likes to follow me around the house and play with a bouncy ball. I used to hear that alot.

But probably the best story I have that actually freaked me out a bit was when I worked at this grocery store. Tiny little thing the owners would often leave me there all alone because it was never very busy in the winter. I would sit there all alone, many times writing not paying attention to what was going on. facing the door I could see when people came in. Anyway always out of the corner of my eye I would see someone walking along the shelves or about the store. I would look up and wouldnt see anyone there at all. And this happened quite alot. Told the bosses that the place was haunted and they wouldnt beleive me. And its not that the place is creepy or anything. Its just that I kept seeing something move about the place. And one day I was portioning out some dried fruit and nuts into packages. My back was to the main part of the store. Like normal I wasnt paying attention because the place was closed at the time. No one else was around me. They were off in other parts of the store. And I felt a hand touch the top of my head. It sent a chill down my back. Of course I quickly looked about to see if anyone was around. And no one was. I'm pretty sure it was the same ghost that had been wandering about the place.

Queen Fool 10-28-2007 11:23 PM

No ghost stories here.

I'm not sure if I believe or not.

ziggida 10-29-2007 03:51 AM

This ghost photo was taken in 1999 at Historic Worley B&B Inn in Dahlonega, Georgia. The owners hired a photographer to take publicity photos of the inn and its rooms. One contained the faint image of the upper portion of a man lying on the bed. The Inn's owners believe the figure may be the ghost of Claude Worley. A descendant of Captain William Jasper, he reportedly died in the house in 1889 after being hit by a train.[/url]

Might want to redo that link Ziggy. ><;

I have ghost stories but they're all pretty stupid, lol. My best friend's house and my house both had ghosts, but nothing too crazy ever happened. Except for this one time... me and her were having a sleep over and we decided to sleep in her sister's room because she was hanging with us and her bed was the biggest. So me and Beki were sleeping on the bed, and her sister Voo decided she wanted to sleep on the floor because she wakes up at night and doesn't want to wake us up. The light switch is all the way across the room, by the doorway, its the only light in the whole room. The window has tinfoil on it to keep the sun out in the morning and there's a mirror right across from the bed. So anyways, me and Beki are just laying there. We always get super hyper when we try to go to sleep so we decided to talk about ghosts. She was telling me of this one time she was out of town at a friend's house and her friend's mom said that if she looked out a certain window into the forest at night some little girl's ghost would haunt her. Beki's mom is a strong believer in ghosts so she is too, and she told me she always had a weird feeling about that window and everything. So we were talking about that and then I saw something. It looked like when you exhale in the cold and you can see it, y'know? And so I was like "wtf..." and she said if you see that it means a ghost is in the room. Of course because we were just talking about evil spirits and stuff we got really scared. Then all of a sudden out of nowhere Beki starts screaming, like so much. She doesn't stop screaming and she's crying now too, so I rolled her over so her face was to me and hugged her. Voo, who was still on the floor jumped up panicking and all I could tell her to do is turn on the light. So she runs across the room and Beki is just crying now, and Voo runs to get Beki's mom. I asked Beki what happened and she told me she saw a little girl right at the side of the bed looking at her. That really scared me out so we were both kind of freaking out. Voo came back with her mom and her mom told us that there was and always has been a little girl ghost in the house named Maggy and that she probably just wanted to be part of the sleep over. Still, we were totally freaked out so we got her mom to put sage all over in the room (because it's supposed to be protection from evil spirits.) After a while her mom left and it was just me, Beki and Voo again. We were all laying in the bed with the light on and I saw something move across the mirror in front of us. I asked if any of them saw it too because none of us were moving and Beki said she saw it too, and it wasn't in the mirror like I thought because she saw it walk by the whole dresser. It was so freakin' scary so we went upstairs, had some tea and watched tv the rest of the night. Lol.
So I totally believe in ghosts, with the weird things that have happened at my house and my best friend's house... its hard not to, lol.

I'm honestly not sure one way or the other, I was just so freaked out I never thought which it was. I never got a good 'happy' feeling from her so actually getting a physical feeling just sent me panicking.

I had considered actually trying to talk to her but could never think of anyone that would be willing to do that with me, and there was no way I would do it by myself.
