Trick or Treat- if it were illegal

HAPPY HALOWEEN!!!!!!

Trick or treat everyone...but is it all its cracked up to be

I've been thinking about it alot recently but
where i live they are on about banning trick or treating for ever and i think this is slightly unfair

although i must say i have had a really bad experience in which me and a group of friends got egged and my friend was kicked to the floor until she bled...no joke

and all of us stood by too scared to move and before we could help she was already battered and bruised

the police where involved and everything
and we were all in tears because nobody wants to see a best friend in that condition

and especially when you felt like it was all your fault because you could of done something but by the time it crossed our minds they had already scattered and left her pretty much for dead

nothing is happening this year for me this haloween

because all my friends are scared the same would happen
i think we should just a party but everyone is really paranoid about it happening again
to add i only got one chocolate bar and for what police attention and my best friend living the rest of her life in fear and pain

physically and mentally

i heard on the radio this morning that man people are protesting for the banning of it and i can empathizes with thsi wish but a part of me doesn't want this to happen because of the kids

but i must agree it has got the point now where its a day where violence is at its peak amongst the younger people and the police attention is alot bigger than it has ever been before and its horrible to look out the window and see kids running around closely followed by a group of police watching them for suspicious behavior

also they have stopped people buying flour and eggs on haloween night

because kids chuck it round what happens if they are genuine

like once i went in there for flour for my mum and they just looked at me and watched me on the way out after refusing to sell it to me because i am a teenager
i hate it when they judge us all to be like the rebels that beat up my friend

oh well anyway i want peoples opinions on this do you think its a good idea and have any of you had bad experiences

it might be different for people living in America because its more popular

but here in england not so many people trick or treat because the streets are full of violent people

i dont think they should ban it here considering only a small majority here do it anyway so whats the point of going through legal papers and such just to stop a couple of people

another point why people hate it is because of knocking on peoples doors at night some old people and even adults
dont like it and its the only time of the year they get scared and fear for their lives

i guess its alright for younger people but oh well

shoot away with the opinions people

Cute Naruto pic!

I feel so sorry for you... that really sux when Halloween is no longer a fun holiday but a feared day to be on the street...
Forever? Then the little kids will grow up without knowing what the joy of trick or treating could be! And think about all the free candy they'll miss >.<

Even where I live, in the US, maybe it's because of the terrorist attack of September 11th, but security and police are more serious and enforced on Halloween. Even at the mall, where's it's for little kids. That kinda ruins the holiday spirit...

Um... not to sound stupid, but I guess I am, what do they do with the flour??

Angel Spirit Girl 10-29-2007 05:41 PM

My goodness! Things don't seem nearly as violent here in the US. Also, the eggs are thrown at houses, not people, if at all. It is slightly more commin to have toilet paper draped all over your yard. Stuff like this is done mainly on the night before halloween, which is nicknamed "devil's night".

The mall where I work at is having trick or treat night tonight. The kids can go from store to store and get a piece of candy or a sticker. It can be nice and safe - and good weather - for them. The police will run candy inspections for the public, too. That way you won't eat a sharp piece of metal in an apple by mistake, or some other trap.

I find the picture cute also. It's not as bad as me. I dressed up as Sasuke one time and girls literally chased me around thte neighborhood, thinking I was a guy. I have a flat chest and I can be moody sometimes, but that's too far! I threw origami shurikens at the girls, then the police man popped up out of no where. THen, I jumped over a fence and made my escape. My friends who were dressed up as Sakura, Naruto, and Kakashi asked me why I was late, but I knew they wouldn't believe me, so I just said I fell asleep. >.< It was the weirdest Halloween ever. Ever since then, I cannot use shurikens anymore....

Wow, I've never seen that much violence on Halloween before. I can see why they are thinking about banning it. Some places are dangerous to live in, thankfully I do not live there. I do hope your other Halloween experinces are much more positive.

That's so terrible... Especially to view the night as something terrible (but then again anything nice can be viewed as bad when it comes to experience).
I don't think where-ever you live, should ban Halloween.
It's a group of bad kids that are doing this. Not every one else. Your town should find a balance of having people be safe, and not being incredibly paranoid... Though that's harder then it seems...
Though I don't know if the terrible attack was in a populated suburban area, or a more empty part of town. Cause either one would make it hard to try and find a solution.
I guess that if you do go out, go to a part of town where you know more people will be trick-or-treating. That way there will be too many people for any one to try anything.
I hope everyone in your group will eventually recover... *hug*

thats the problem though lots of people were around and everyone was scared to help us and ran away from the crime scene

it would of been even worse if it was a sucluded area

i would say have more police watch but that ruins the whole fun and you would feel like you are being watched all the time and it gets ruined just from the thought of them being around

i heard someone back along said they check your candy i mean come on thats extreme the fun of it has gone now its all about trying to make it the safest as they possibly can and get over it the next day

its gone to far to ban now i think the people would still be disruptive they dont need haloween as an excuse to beat people up

they'll still get the same out of it and the same punishment if they get caught whihc thankfulyl they did

but only got a warning
i mean my friend is mentally and physically hurt and they just say to them dont do it again and they are off the case

man it really annoys me and its not the first time the police have failed me either but thats for another thread lol

<3 <3 A Sasuke cosplayer! <3 I'd probably ask to take a picture with you... not to the extent of chasing you though. ROFL that you threw shruikens at them.

So, anyone going to tell me what the flour ban is for?

Bunai 10-29-2007 06:16 PM

wow
i never had a bad experience trick-treating. in various parts of America its different for everyone. sometimes streets are reserved for big costume parties.

we also have mall ToTing for little kids. there are different parts marked off. pretty cute, and the kids enjoy themselves. and you dont have to worry about them zooming off into the street or getting their bag stolen...though that has never happened to me or anyone else i know. but tons joke about it happening

there is not always ToTing in America. there are also people that use the energy of this day for white/black magic, or celebrating the goddess and such.

They stop selling eggs and flour for the whole week round here.
Well they'll sell it to older adults, but not to young adults or kids.
I went off trick or treating when I was a kid as one time this guy gave us apples and they had razor blades in them :? Suddenly getting candy and treats from strangers didn't seem so appealing.

they must be such sick people giving razor blades in apples for kids to eat

thats just wrong...I'm so unsure on this subject

O.o Sweet shizt. A bunch of people around and not one person helped? I can understand your group being afraid to help, cause it's very traumatizing and scary when a friend is being hurt. You don't know what to do. But strangers? Normally they have the advantage of being an outsider, and can jump in...
Did someone at least call the police when it was happening?

That's it. I'm have a stern talking with the police in your town, and trick or treating with you. You should be able to have fun...

And you are right, it being halloween has nothing to do with the beating. Those bullies would do it anytime. Using Halloween to blame it, is just an ewxcuse for not cracking down on the hooligans.

shellthabunny 10-29-2007 06:47 PM

Wow that sucks that where you live is so violent.
