Pimples Suck!

i dont have bad pimples (they're rather small actually). but my t-zone gets them the most
most say they dont notice. but it still bothers me b/c i want a nice smooth face ^^
no matter what product i use, nothing seems to get rid of them completely.
proactiv was okay. but i dont like to use benzoyl peroxide too much because it can dry out my face.
plus my face is naturally oily so that makes it worse.
i have a good diet, drink plenty of water, and i've been cutting out a lot of sweets.
i'm starting to think i should see a dermatologist?
are they expensive?
and anyone have any tips or share the same problems?

Petty 11-02-2007 08:31 PM

I have the same problem with natually-oily skin.... :(

What I find works best is when I shower, I use a scrubby glove... it's got kinda plastic-y fibers taht make it up. Then I put some bar soap on it (I like Dove. :3) and then scrub my face using that.

It seems to work, I rarely have problems. :3

i have an aloe based soap that works really well. and some foundation that helps aswell.
ive got naturally oily skin too :( and even though im 22 i still get break outs D: especially around that time of the month >.<

All we can really do is wash our face much. I like Petty's idea of a scrubby glove - :o I shall have to try that myself now

king99 11-02-2007 10:18 PM

hmm...i'll have to try the glove idea ^^

I have yet to find a good solution to killing pimples myself. Though I found that for acne, clearsil or stridex pads clear mine up pretty well. I still get a huge zit from time to time mostly because of stress (like the one I got in the middle of my forehead recently, grr). But before the pads, I used to have lots of bumps on my forehead. So those are gone now.

Try to get the pads without the alcohol though. Those will dry out your skin. Even if your skin is oily, it's still bad.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, if you're still worried about your face drying out from the medicine, use facial lotion each day. Again, you probably think you may not need it since you have oily skin, but you still should use it. There are even lotions out there made for oily skin, just gotta look around. (I know Merle Norman has some good products, but there may be cheaper ones out there.)

I have really clear skin so I don’t have to worry about anything like that. I mostly just wash my face with a scrubby cloth and some soap and water, nothing all too fancy. Hot water seems to really help too. My skin is horribly dry though so a face lotion would probably be a good idea with whatever you use.

Enniel 11-03-2007 01:47 AM

mine arent very bad but i get them the same spot as you :)

Chexala 11-03-2007 01:54 AM

Have you ever tried using mud? You could buy some, but I would just go out in the yard and get some nice dirt and mix it with water. Mix in clay if you have any. Mud is good for your skin.

InYourMind 11-03-2007 01:55 AM

You should try Neautrogena Anti-oil products. I had that same issue until I started using their scrub. Use it daily and in like a week or so you'll see a big difference. But keep drinking a lot of water. It's ok to eat sweets but make sure right after you drink water automatically. Also, you may want to try Aveeno creams to keep them from appearing again. ^^

I thought clay was good for you, but slathering mud from the yard on your face probably isn't the best idea, since pimples can also be caused by bacteria. And bacteria live in dirt.

I have really dry skin everywhere but my hairline. Different problem, equally annoying. >.<

thank you everyone
these are all very helpful

kuroitsuki 11-03-2007 06:00 AM

I currently have a big pimple located at the jaw part.

Whenever I encounter big pimples, I just wash my face three times a day with my trusted facial wash. And as much as possible, avoid touching it. ^_^

Lombardy 11-03-2007 06:03 AM

Hm, I use Mary Kay,
and well what my deritologist gives me.
Both together are like awesome.
But them alone is like, mehhh.
If I didn't use stuff to make my pimples go away,
I'm sure I'd have achne hardcore. D:
But I noticed it right away, and complained until my parents did something,
so my skin is fine. C:

Zits can pop out of no where (heh) it could be caused my stress or well that time of the month.
I wash my face with this one stuff; I have yet to find out the name of it and I've been using it for 4 years now. D:
Along with a mask.

But I don't break out so much.
Just when I'm about to start my period. Dx

Some of the worst zits I've had was my third eye one; a massive pulsating red lump above my right eyebrow.

Underground ones; where there is no head so it just sits there, laughing at your face.

And just recently behind my left ear; it developed...somehow and caused so much pressure to my ear that the slightest light touch to my ear lobe it hurt like a bitch. D: It caused me to lose sleep for 2 days. Cause I couldn't even rest my head on the pillow on my left side. D: I got it the other day and ugh, milky white puss came out. I had to pop it over and over again for 3 days until it finished! Dx Or at least I hope it's finished. ._.'

lmfao k thx 11-03-2007 06:31 AM

Never got a big pimple.
Always little zits.
I'm scared though. D:

@lmafao: yep..same here

@lombardy: mary kay didnt work for me ):

@nea: ...OW! and dont pop it XD especially if its by your ear. it may keep coming back because when you pop it the bacteria can spread.
also, my doctor told me that when you try to bust something that has puss, it acts like a suction. an example he gave me was those booger sucker things that you use for babies. when you squeeze it, bacteria will go in deeper!
instead, use a really warm towel and keep it on there. and if you can, take a sterile sharp pin or something you can poke it and let it leak. try not to squeeze and keep it clean ^^

shellthabunny 11-03-2007 04:10 PM

I heard it can be hormonal.

I had to get rid of it! D;
I lost sleep because of it.
I say that is a good enough reason to pop the sucker!

It really hurt because my mom was vicious with it, I almost cried from pain from it but I held it in. Dx
Thankfully I kept my hair away from it and once it got done popping, I put some "Silent Healer" on there. (Zit poof begone stuff, lol basically)
The swelling is down quite a bit but I can feel that there might be some left, the last time I tried getting it, water just came out. D:

I'm not so worried about it now. ^^

inseCuREly 11-04-2007 07:29 AM

I have a simiar problem xD I used Proactiv for a while, but... kinda... stopped. It was okay.

Yesterday, my mom had a skin consultation xD She asked the ladies there what would be good for me. They said that Proactiv only worked for a while, and that I should try this other stuff called NormaDerm from Vichy Laboratories. I used it once and it started working quite quickly; mom commented on how the pimples I had at the moment had seemed to calm down. O:

...I have this weird pimple thing on my earlobe though. xD

neon666 11-04-2007 12:13 PM

BURST THEM !!!!!!!

yeah they are pretty annoying damn my teenagerness

neur0mancer 11-04-2007 01:26 PM

Gah. When I wake up, I have the oiliest skin ever >_<
An other time than that and I'm good, though. :3

I dont get pimples anymore- I used to get them ALL over my face. Seriously, it was really bad. ._.
Nothing helped but time itself. :3
Now people comment on my nice, even complexion (WITHOUT the aid of make-up, thanks) and how smooth my skin is. n 0n

Now I only get one a month, if even that.
Id say, just wait it out. Everyone gets acne, and the best thing Ive seen for it, is time. :3

I've always considered myself rather lucky that i don't get the regular infestations of spots that most of my fellows seem to do.
My advice to ward off spots: Don't over wash your face. It strips your natural oils and opens the pores, making way for dirt and ultimately spots. <3

TwistedOrchestra 11-04-2007 02:24 PM

Well, i've studied beautician for a few years.
Drink water, wash your face when you wake up, and before you go to sleep, sleep with a window open, and dont eat to much fat food. use a scrub from time to time and a facial mask. also use a good day cream for your face (sorry my english can be rather bad, im from the Netherlands) .
you can use L'oreal for your face, it works very well for me. Or use Vichy if they sell it in your country.
Ask a beautician advice aswell.

Sir.Spoon 11-04-2007 02:29 PM

I like to think I have good skin...but I don't.
I always end up breaking out, and it's horrible.
I find no matter how often I wash my face it makes things worse...because my skin goes dry, and I hate that feeling.
