st whites day event?

in japan the celebrate a day called st whites day in which the boy gives something to the girl just like valentines day but in japan the girls give there stuff to the boys on february the 14th a month later

boy give to girls for once lol
anything white is appropriate

really and i think menewsha should do an event based on this with special white event items

i think this would be a really cool idea and would set it apart from gaia anyone here agree or disagree?

Some Random Randomness 11-04-2007 12:47 PM

I don't know.

On Menewsha we like to be fair. And making boy avatar give items to girl avatars doesn't really seem fair.

Also, if we came out with items, we'd have to come out with a new item twice for the two months.

And then the third factor is that we don't celebrate Thanksgiving because not all countries celebrate it. Probably an even smaller percentage celebrates St. Whites Day.

Move to Site Feedback since you're making a suggestion.

Like Rando, I agree. Most people don't even know what White Day is, so it doesn't make sense to have an event for it.

Not to mention we would have to change the guidelines for Valentine's Day where girls have to give guys gifts. And that just seems to be screwy logical on an avi site. Real Life it make sense but on an avi site where no one can be sure of your real gender, that's just screwy. I have a male account so really, I'll gifts on both? If no one knew I was a really a girl in real life.

I personally dislike the strong regard and support of anime, manga, and general Japanese culture Gaia has. It's good to support fellow cultures and all, but come on. Not everyone goes on a site for the like of anime or manga, and it shouldn't be pressured down someone's throat with 15 new announcements a day endorsing some new anime or manga.
That's my personal opinion, and to be fair, I'll say this idea is more sexist than just Japanophile Mayhem. xP

Also from what I've seen, the male population here is astoundingly diminutive...

Amo_Angelus 11-04-2007 01:30 PM

That's not going to happen. The event isn't widely known and it's not something that would be popular. We have valentines for that sort of thingand it seems redundant to have two things of such a similar nature...Besides, there are a lot more well known events on the calender of more origional events that don't get celebrated as events on websites. Plus, do you realise how much effort goes into creating these events. If you're going to start implementing things most people don'tknow about the event will suck and as the devs and mods will have more and more things to busy themselves with the quality will suffer.

linkfreak131 11-04-2007 02:46 PM

That would be very neat. >.< I've never actualy, personaly, celebrated that day, but in HarvestMoon, it's one of the main events! Just becuase it's not a very popular halliday, does not mean that we can't celebrate it. Just look at Talk Like a Pirate day and Creep Like a Ninja day; they aren't widly known, but many websites still celebrate them. Besides, it would bring in some more originaly to this site, which it despratly needs.

I think Menewsha should just have the regular Valentine's Day. It would save the developers lots of time, and will still be fantastic.

Mya 11-04-2007 04:52 PM

Well uh.. Wer'e not japanese. Ask some random guy if they know what St. white's day is , they are more likely to say no. Plus I don't think we are gonna spend all our gold on white colored gifts... And the gift to boy girl thing isn't fair. They are more girls on here then boys .

galy 11-04-2007 05:14 PM

it's good that you suggested a non-US holiday, but the premise of the whole thing would never work for the reasons everyone else stated.

still, suggesting that similar holidays be incorporated into the ones here is good. i see where you're coming from. there are only so many red/heart themed items a site can conjure up.

BrokenHearted 11-04-2007 05:48 PM

Maybe we could have some sort of international festival event instead? Have items from different celebrations? ^^

That's a good idea. Or we could just have items from diffrent conturies. A kimono from japan, sombero from mexico ect.

Do I hear the first Menewsha World's Fair!?! :D

Takuto 11-04-2007 05:59 PM

I love the idea but it seems as though there are not alot of guys on Menewsha so there would not be many gifts to give out to girls! haha.

CK 11-04-2007 06:18 PM

The idea is really cute, but not particularly feasible...

Maybe the Developers can simply make up a few purely-white items to go along with the Valentine's Day items and those who choose to observe St. White's Day can do so at the appropriate time?

I would love, love to see a Menewsha World Fair event sometime in the gap between major holidays. :3

it wouldn't have to be boys giving items to girls just to release some items on that day that are all white would be good enough

Montgomery Domoheart 11-04-2007 07:04 PM

Most of Menewsha's events are fairly commercialized-verions of holidays in which everyone gets something. ;P
