Poor Chi. I don't really care so much about work, per se, but I need something to keep me scheduled. I just don't do well at all with too much time on my hands.

Chi 01-16-2010 10:46 PM

I think I'll feel better once I'm out of this constant "I feel exhausted" stage. :XD

I don't have that huge of a schedule this semester. Latin I and Senior Seminar. I have two side jobs on campus, but I don't know how many hours per week they'll be, nor do I know how long they'll last. One is supposed to be between 10 and 20 hours, but something tells me it will be spread across the entire semester. The second will be off and on until graduation I think.

steelmagghia 01-16-2010 10:47 PM

That sounds like a decent schedule.
And, yeah, I think the beginning pregnancy exhaustion probably isn't helping any, but you'll do fine.

Cami 01-16-2010 10:49 PM

Chi: Nuthin happened to Kin, and I certainly didn't do it if it did.

Chi 01-16-2010 10:51 PM

@Cami
Hmmm... I'll believe you. D:

@Steel
I reckon so too. I still don't even know what time my MWF class begins. I think 9am. :XD

steelmagghia 01-16-2010 10:52 PM

Haha nice. I definitely am going to have to go up there Monday and get my schedule, because I can't get into my work email now. Grr.

Chi 01-16-2010 10:53 PM

Man... work needs to stop yanking you around. *whaps it* D:

Agreed. Though, maybe we should stitch up his neck after tying his esophagus into a knot so he can't eat anything anymore? Cause he can always be fed via an IV tube if necessary..

Nothing. And if anything, they weren't my ideas to begin with.

steelmagghia 01-16-2010 10:57 PM

Hooray! Chi is beating my job for me! Hehe. Yeah, I've contemplated just getting another vet's office job, but part of the point of my getting a job was to meet people and make friends. Vets offices are hard for me to do that in, since I tend to spend more time with the animals than the people.

Does somebody need me to suture someone? Hehe.

Chi 01-16-2010 10:59 PM

@Ari
Okay. I'll believe you. *nods and goes on a search for her husband in the meantime, ignoring the piles of blood* D:

@Steel
Could you get another vet's office job that's close to home? I'm not sure how many are in your area. If not that, what other type of work would you like to do? :3

Arikana 01-16-2010 11:02 PM

So how is Chi doing tonight? =)

And good luck finding your husband. =)

steelmagghia 01-16-2010 11:03 PM

Oh there are tons of vet's offices here. And I don't want to move back with my family because I need to build a support system here so vet school doesn't kick my arse as bad when I go back.
I thought about getting a teaching job, but I'd only really like teaching biology, and they prefer you *actually* have a masters for that, rather than just 18 hours of graduate work. Private tutoring works well, but it isn't consistent enough.

Chi 01-16-2010 11:04 PM

Very true. You had mentioned that it pays really well, but like you say, it depends on when people need to be tutored.

Do you know when you might go back to school?

steelmagghia 01-16-2010 11:08 PM

Well, I've gone through the process to get approved to go back in the fall. I won't know until March, though. Since I'll need to redo the first year, it's sort of like reapplying. It kind of sucks, but there is no way I would be able to go any further with how little I remember from first year.

Chi 01-16-2010 11:11 PM

*nod* I guess if you get a clean slate, it gives you all the more chance to do your best. :hug: I hope that you'll get back in. I should know in March whether or not I've been accepted to the graduate program.

steelmagghia 01-16-2010 11:13 PM

Apparently March is just going to be a news month! Hehe. I know you'll get in. We'll have to keep my fingers crossed for me. But, yeah, my grades will get wiped and everything, which would be *really* nice. I just...let's put it this way...nobody wants to repeat first year vet school. Most people would just give up on being a vet. First year is hell. But...well...I've wanted to be a vet since I was six. And it still makes me happy, being in a vet's office. I can't give up on it.

Chi 01-16-2010 11:17 PM

You gotta keep your dream. <3

What makes the first year so bad? What studying/tasks do you have to do? Do they make the first year terrible so that if people can't stomach it, they'll know being a vet isn't for them?

steelmagghia 01-16-2010 11:20 PM

Well, you get just a huge load of courses, and you rarely get to see an actual animal that isn't dead and preserved, and between Physiology and Small and Large Animal Anatomy, the information overload is absurd.
I don't know that they intentionally make it that hard, because it really is necessary to get that information out of the way in order to progress, but they certainly don't try to make it any easier.

Chi 01-16-2010 11:22 PM

Mmm, it sounds pretty intense. I couldn't do it. I'm not the type of learner that can keep that many facts together in one place. ;-;

steelmagghia 01-16-2010 11:24 PM

That's my problem too. I have to really understand every aspect, I don't do just straight memorization. And the year moves so fast that there is no time to do anything *except* just memorize.
But, I am freaking determined to not only get back in, but to freaking ace first year after this. It has made me angry, so now I must beat it. Heh.

Chi 01-16-2010 11:24 PM

And you will. Determination like that will make sure you succeed. :)

Sammi 01-16-2010 11:28 PM

Would you accept a Scepter of Order or Chaos for your Yumeh Slippers? I know technically the scepters are worth about 3.5k but I don't mind overpaying since it's an item... I don't quite have 3k pure. D;

Chi 01-16-2010 11:32 PM

No thanks. I'm just looking for pure. Scepters are kind of hard to sell too. ;-;

steelmagghia 01-16-2010 11:33 PM

Thanks for the confidence, Chi. *hugs*
I'll be back in a few minutes. I need to take the girls out, and grab my case of Pepsi and get some food.

Sammi 01-16-2010 11:34 PM

Ah, okay. I have to disagree with you there, I've already had a taker for one of mine on my selling thread... just waiting on their offer. :P Maybe I will be back.
