Soap Operas and guilty Pleasures
Anyways I had school off today and I"m pretty bored. I don't have much to do today besides watching The Exorcist, doing homework and doing plans that I didn't plan. Anyways basically I came downstairs and I ended up started watching "The Bold and the Beautiful" and it's really cheesy. It's kind of a waste of time to be honest but it's drawing me in.
Any suggestions? Things to discuss: soap operas bad acting versus good acting dramas dead crows given as revenge [that's in the story] Have any guilty pleasures [such as watching AMC every day or watching Mr. Rogers even though you're about 20] |
OhMyGaw,d what is that one soap called where there is some witch and it's soopa cheesy?
I think it's Passions. When I stayed home sick I would watch it It was such a waste XD |
Oh I know what you mean. Whenever I'm sick I usually watch really cheesy stuff that I will regret seeing later because I could have been watching something else... like CSI or Supernatural.
Edit: Just saw the preview for a new movie coming out November 21st called Enchanted about a animated fairy tale turning into a human based fairy tale. Oh dear I'm watching more soap operas. :( |
When I was home during the day I used to watch the Price is Right and then I would watch kids TV.
My guilty pleasure right now is romance books - I never was really into them but I've recently found some more modern and fun authors and I tear through them. I think of them as brain candy  |
I've watched a few j-dramas. xD Like Nobuta wo Produce. They're not too cheesy though. They're pretty good / funny. |
Re: Soap Operas and guilty Pleasures
Soap operas... I will never get them. O.o
I watch a lot of chinese dramas. <3 Love them unless they get too "much". They all seem to have the same plot lines when it's a modern day setting show... *boring* I loved Mr. Rogers!! I still watch Saturday Cartoons (I'm 16) all morning~ and I LOVE little kid shows! Not teletubbies or Barney, but Between the Lions, Sagwa, Arthur, and Elmo's World! Heh. I hope I can be forever a kid at heart. I hate daytime TV. There really isn't much on, so next time, put in a disk instead of killing your brain cells on soap operas where characters can come back in ghost form and be resurrected...?? (I read a tv guide once. Regretted it. I now know how dumb soap operas are) My guilty passions are reading children books and 1-2-3 Reading books - I miss books with pretty illustrations and simple language!! *currently taking AP Language and Composition T-T* |
OH I took that class last year, just thought I'd let you know. I'm in AP Literature and Composition right now and come to think of it I need to work on my homework.
Anyways I would have to definitely say I agree with you. Childrens books are a ton of fun to read because its a break from Thoreau and Chopin. Plus they have pictures. |

Ooooh... I'm a closeted romance novel fan... I'm so bad I only read them in my room so no one will know tat I read those trashy things... but god! I love them! I don't care how predictable and trite they are... Sometimes you just need a nice story with lots of love and a happy ending... They always cheer me up.

Saturday Morning Cartoons are my guilty pleasure. I get up on Saturday Mornings and watch me some Ninja Turtles. Yay, Ninja Turtles! And I watch Avatar and SonicX...and sometimes Viva Pinata...and Spongebob Squarepants. In my P.J.'s.
Oh, and I'm 23 and a sophmore in University. Mature, no? I just tell people that aspiring cartoonists follow different rules than other folks...X3 Oh, and Jaded Geisha, don't feel bad about the Romance Novels...I love em' too. (I've got several). Sometimes a little sappy-lovey-dovey-everything-turns-out-wonderful-wheee is needed on a rotten day. I like to read mine and drink hot chocolate. With Marshmallows. |
My guilty please is Next Top Model. : X It's sort of silly and everything, but I watched a couple episodes and was hooked. xD Now I love finding the marathons on MTV. Hee hee. : D |
Guilty pleasures:
Anything with mindtwisting in it. No matter what age group it's intended for. Like the first appearance of the Green Ranger on Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. |
|
When I was a kid, I would watch Days of our Lives, and Passions. I don't watch either of them anymore, but my mom still watches Days of Our Lives every day that she can.

I have always hated soap operas. They're just...not my idea of entertainment. I would, quite honestly, claw my eyes out if someone sat me down and forced me to watch them. Too...freaking...cheesy. XD;
As for me? Guess where the "Phantom" in my name came from. Go on, guess! GUESS, YOU FOOLS! >( *shoe'd* Haha, but seriously now...it's from Danny Phantom. Yes, a Y7 cartoon on Nickelodeon. I don't care if people tell me it's "kid stuff." I never got to REALLY be a kid, so I'm probably gonna hang on to some childlike traits for the rest of my life. Including a love for cartoons. XP And, I hate most sad movies. I hate to cry. Sad movies generally suck anyway. Yet my FAVORITE movie of all time was one of the saddest I've ever seen (at least in the second half of it; the first half was actually pretty funny)...with the most beautifully bittersweet ending EVER. It makes me cry SO HARD for SO LONG that I will not watch it within 12 hours of going to work. It's 2 hours long, and I need 10 hours to recover from the end. XD; So...yeah. Those are the things that I'm a bit ashamed to admit in real life. XD; |
I could never get into soap operas. Not just because of the bad acting and horrific story lines, but also because the cinematography drove me insane. >.< |
my grandma watches all my children every single day.
she's been watching it since before i was born. back when i was in elementary school, when i'd stay home sick, i would watch it with her. i was too young to realize how horrible the acting was, but i still remember most of the characters. xD i've heard soap operas in england and australia aren't nearly as cheesy. |
Woot ! Dramas are so addictive . D; I watch way too much for my own good . xD; That`s why I kinda forced myself to quit going on youtube . xD; |
I watch the recent seasons of Power Rangers. That is what I've got for guilty pleasure. As for soap operas, I never watched them, not even when I was sick or very young. But I've been a cartoon lover for as long as I can remember. I sometimes watch Poemon just for old times' sake.

Hmmm well somtimes when I'm home alone
or sick in bed, I'll watch the spanish channels and I don't even know why. I'll just be sitting there and all of a sudden I stop on a spanish channel it's quite funny. xD |
Urgh soap operas are so lame! I hate them and the acting drives me up the wall. I only tune in when wierd stuff happens. And by wierd I mean a house exploded with almost the entire cast in it, a man drove his wife, her two kids and the doughters kid into the river...a car crashed on a log and sent the two kids into the river...an arsonist set fire to a house and kidnapped the baby...lightning hit the pub which fell onto a lead cast memer... So yeah only around christmas and new years really :P |
I hate soap operas. They are soooo boring. I can watch one though. It just depends on what is going on. Other than that. IT'S BORING.
|
I adore stupid, dorky asian dramas. They're good for my soul. x3
|
I could never like soap operas, even as a guilty pleasure.
My favourite guilty pleasure is really awful music, OR trashy gossip mags 8D |
