lol that's cute.

But you really need to work on body portions.

You should definitely work on proportions, giving it a more 2D/3D look and feel, as well as figuring out how to shape the clothing, eyes, hair so that it works together in a flowy, more artistic way than just a jumble.

It's pretty good. Your style is similar to mine when I first started out. I hate to beat a dead horse here, but definitely work on your proportions. Once you've got those down, I'd work on textures.

it's the same image with different hairstyles.

you need to use human anatomy as a reference [like looking at your own face when drawing] and not anime work. when someone imitates a style with no foundation in the basic principles of art and design they tend to get lost. that's like making orange juice by taking OJ and adding water instead if getting it straight from the orange. a watered down version, not as good as the original. :}

ok, thanks guys ^^ yeah, proportions definitely need help if i want them to look realistic... any tips on how to do shading?

Teh Rob_Roy 11-09-2007 11:44 PM

for shading, you're using a CG package by the looks of it, so there's usually a tool to make shading easier, just gotta get used to using it

btw, proportions aint bad, just the torso and arms needs to be a little more stocky-er

Yeah proportions are a bit out of wack, hands should be a little bigger. Head seems a little too big compared to the rest of the body and she has no cleavage even though she should (the little line you see when girls have a chest. Even a little line like a Y would help)No collar bone, Lack of any type of muscle structure too. Her necks also a tad on the thick side.

As for shading, when coloring black its easier to use a lighter shade of 'black' and just do shadows for the shading, black hair with white or light gray highlights just looks overly gel'd to me. If you need to look at proportions and how forshotening could affect it, you could check out my latest stuff: Lil-desa

I just uploaded about 8 different things from my portfolio folder.

They are cute but the arms are too thin and rectangular and the eyes are a little too close together and the ear is too high on the first one but the cat one is good

oh ok, i'll try to make the bodies a little bigger and try shading too, thanks =D!!
