Vincent nodded slightly. He wrapped the cloak around him tighter keeping his face hidden. He was watching her and making sure nothing bad happened.

She tried to ignore Vincent watching her but it was getting on her nerves. It took them about five hours to get to L's house. She got off Sephiroth and banged on the door in a peculiar way, soft, then hard, then soft, then hard, then soft, then hard, then she kicked it. L opened the door a little bit, looked at her, then flung the door open and hugged her, screaming "RISA! IT'S BEEN AGES!" She hugged him back and laughed. "I KNOW! I MISSED YOU!" She yelled back. Then he let go and glared at Vincent "Who's he?" L was more cautious now that he noticed Vincent. "L, this is Vincent. He was a slave, I guess, at one of my parent's mansions. He ran away on the same day U did now we're traveling to gather. You think you can hook us up with some houses? We got dough." She smiled, trying to explain. "And some fake identity's?" She was pleading with him. "Well....OF COURSE, DOLL! ANYTHING FOR YOU!" He hugged her again and gave Cloud an apple, then got two more for Sephiroth and Shadowfax. "You need a place to stay for the night? It'll take me a few days to get everything ready." He asked happily, then motioned to his barn "We've got enough room for all...five of ya!" He was very happy to see her as she was him. She grinned "You're the best, L! Well, maybe not at math, but..." She laughed, his poor education was just a joke to both of them.

Vincent felt extremely uncomfortable in the situation. He relaxed slightly and then got off the horse. He wasn't talking to her now that he saw how close she was to this strange L person. He felt out of place in a way and then leaned against the horse.

She smiled "Vincent can I take the horses to the barn now?" She said, not really asking, and took Cloud and Sephiroth to the barn, then came back for Shadowfax. L smiled and got Risa an apple. She happily took it. "You always know." She said with a wide grin. "Do you want anything, Vincent?" L asked politely.

"No thanks," Vincent said ignoring Risa's question. She moved slightly and then relaxed slightly. He still felt uncomfortable and he was looking around again.

She smiled as L motioned for them to come in. She pulled Vincent along inside L's very nice home. "Oh! You got a new lamp! And a couch, too?" She asked in between bites of her apple. "Yeah, like 'em?" L said proudly. "Yes there beautiful!" Risa said, she was more relaxed now. "And you, last time I saw you, your family was still alive!" They both laughed at that "Wow it really has been ages!" They laughed more and Risa sat down on his couch "Come on Vicnent, loosen up!" She said, a little whiningly, noticing he was looking uncomfortable.

Vincent tried to relax a bit but he felt like he was being watched by L. He sat down and was a bit confused by the whole situation. He was relaxing slightly and was tired. He didn't change though and he tried to calm down a bit noticing the irritation in the tone of Risa's comment.

She sighed when he refused to relax. L came over "You sure you don't need anything?" He was cheery enough but a little tense with a stranger in his house of stolen value. (He's a thief) He calmed himself by remembering Risa was friends with him and she had amazing judgment of good people. He hummed her luluby to calm his nerves. Risa smiled and sang along the words to her luluby L was humming.

Vincent started to relax now but he didn't stop watching the guy. He stood up suddenly out of impulse. "I'm going to check on the horses," he said. He walked out without a response. He had shrugged off the cloak and found the sun to be more powerful than he remembered it to be. He raced across and when he got there he sat down against one of the walls.

She rolled her eyes and turned on the television. L came and sat next to her. She flipped through the channels as she spoke "Don't mind him he was like that at first with me, too." L laughed a little "I wouldn't blame him, I mean I am a thief, you know. I Mean did you see that bow? And your necklace. You'd better sleep with one eyes open, Rice." He was joking, of course, he'd given her both those things when she was younger. They both laughed at her old nick name, Rice. She'd gotten it because when she was little she had trouble pronouncing a's so she called herself Rice.

Vincent relaxed slightly and snatched a animals breaking its neck slightly. He drank the blood to heal himself and then put it down. He was going to get that out of the place later. He closed his eyes after a while letting himself sleep but it wasn't deep in case someone came in.

She sighed "Well I better go get him so he knows where his room is." She stood up and L looked up at her "When you two come back I'll show you your room." She looked at him confused "Room? We need two rooms, L." He tilted his head and she shook her head "No, we're just traveling to gather." L sighed "Okay, sorry, I just thought-" She cut him of, she always did "Nope!" She smiled, punched him in the stomach and ran away giggling to the barn. "Vincent?" She strung out his name and made her voice sound whinny, to annoy him. "Come on, time for our rooms!" She called, in the same whinny voice.

"I'm staying out here," Vincent snapped at her whinny tone. He crossed his arms slightly frowning slightly. He hated the idea of going into that wretched house again. He was stroking one of the horse's legs who was neighing softly.

She giggled and in a mock sad tone asked "What's wrong mister grumpy stripes?" She made mock pouty lips and looked at him with playful eyes, ignoring the dead animal.

Vincent was starting to get sick of her. "You know what," he snapped. "Your a brat at times. Are you sure you weren't spoiled a little?"
He felt a bit sharp in how he was talking but he didn't care anymore. |
She stopped "I'm sorry. I'm sure. I'll go." She said quietly and walked back inside without another sound.

He stood up now and walked to the back of the barn and up into the loft. He laid down in some hay, shutting his eyes so that he could rest. He knew that they wouldn't think to check up there so he'd be pretty safe.

She walked back inside to see L waiting. "He doesn't like you. He said he would rather sleep in the barn." She had no emotions, because she wasn't offended by Vicnent, everyone was mean to her except L, her only true friend. But she couldn't be cheerful like usually knowing her traveling partner didn't like being around her. "Can I sleep in my old room?" She asked, a little desperate to be in her old bed again. L simple nodded and hugged her. The walked to their rooms and she kissed him on the cheek, only as a good night. They always did that. Then she walked into her room and went to sleep, rubbing her stone necklace again.

Vincent sighed and found his way to relax better. He slept a lot easier than any other time he had. He stirred though in his sleep, haunted by his dreams again.

She slept soundly, comforted by her only and best friend and her old bed. She had forgotten about what Vincent said in her dreary state and hoped he wasn't mad at her still.

Vincent woke when the moon rose. He went forward and began to search out prey. He hadn't done this in a while and it was a slight thrill. He found the prey and killed them.

She got up in the middle of the night and looked up at the moon. She went out into the kitchen and got a glass of water. She sat in the bay window and looked up at the moon, reciting a poem L taught her "So calm in your pale white phase, so large and round. So helpful yet deceiving, so lovely yet evil. We take your light you take our souls we live from you and die as well. We'll always live this way, we'll never get it. They won't know it. not ever. and they will stay this way. always." She sighed and went back into her room.

Vincent sat down in front of the barn now staring at the sky. He felt at peace now that he was, for the most part, free from the confinement of where he used to reside. He looked at the house thinking about Risa for a moment and how well she had connected with that man. he shuddered slightly at his own realization of how poorly he got along with others.

After a while of rubbing her stone trying to fall back asleep she gave up and decided to take a walk outside. She drifted out to the door, her night gown dragging slightly behind her. She opened the door softly, so she wouldn't wake L, and walked outside, clearing her thought and leaving her brain only one thing to think about; the moon and sky. She sighed as she stared at the beautiful night sky and she sat down on the ground in front of the house, gazing into outer space.

Vincent noticed her when she came out. He still felt a bit awkward there but had a hard time admitting such things. He stood now and considered going back in the barn but walked over to her. "Can't sleep?" he asked.
