demonic X rose 11-16-2007 07:50 PM

i really do believe something is out there, but not little green men lol

Wolf_Warroir_of _light 11-16-2007 08:00 PM

hmmmm
well space is a non stop journey
u can get lost if ur signal from earth stopped

demonic X rose 11-16-2007 08:03 PM

i love looking at the stars when they are out lol.
and to be totally honest i wouldn't mind getting lost in space, just as long as i have enough provisions for my lifetime.
i hate the everyday life of earth and would love to explore.

hehe can you tell iam a trekkie fan lol

Regarding aliens, there is no guarantee there is any species more advanced than us. Think about it - Man was born out of a freak accident when the dinosaurs were wiped out, allegedly by a comet. We might not be here if not for that event. So who's to say that life in other planets might be as advanced as ours? The SETI system was brought out years ago, and yet nothing has picked up our signals. Probably because if there is life out there, it isn't advanced.

chibilady18 11-16-2007 10:54 PM

ya but there are millions of stars out there so why not other life? it would make sense that if it happened here it could happen somewhere else and for all we know it happened way before use. your right that there is no guarantee but I think its just as likely that there is life as it is likely that there isn't.

  • I think it's quite likely that there'd be life on other planets, in one form or another. Life occurred on Earth because Earth's atmosphere and conditions were optimal for life. There are many many other stars out there in space, so I think the chances of there being another planet out there which satisfies the conditions for life are pretty high. x3

I kind/sorta believe there's something out there...Somewhere. Watching, waiting, SPYING...Okay, not really all that, but anyway, on to my point.

I think, somewhere out there, anyware, be it mars, our lovely little dwarf planet pluto, or whatever, there is life. Maybe there could be planets in other galaxies. Who knows. I don't know if I actually want there to be, because of the whole 'fear of what you don't understand' thing, but...I dunno.

If there is life outside of us, then I hope beyond all that is isn't mean life bent on stealing childrens candy and wiping out the human race XD.

nike13 11-17-2007 06:24 AM

I believe that there are other life forms out there. Considering how large the universe is, it just seems remarkably egotistical to think that we are alone/are the smartest out there. Honestly, if I was from another planet; I wouldn't want to make contact with Earth because the human race are killing each other over their own differences. What would they do to me then? If a difference in skin color can cause so much hate between people, wouldn't you expect being from another planet to cause even more prejudices?

And the fact that SETI hasn't produced any public "We've found alien signals" really doesn't mean much to me. The universe is huge, we are only on the edge of the Milky Way galaxy, our technology is no where near capable of listening to everything out there, and if they did get a signal, how would they be able to tell if it is from another species? Would humans be able to recognize it? Would an alien race have technology that would produce signals we can pick up with ours?

chibilady18 11-17-2007 06:28 AM

I think its sorta depressing to think were the only people in the hole galaxy. I really hope there is something else out there!

kimu 11-17-2007 06:39 AM

I agrea with nike, but, Im really far too scared to think of space, the only way I can think of it without feeling naucious is through evolution, going backwards on when there was the first bacteria and such.

nike13 11-17-2007 06:54 AM

@kimu
Why does thinking of space frighten you?

*points to friend with tin foil hat on*

Just kidding. ^o^

Well, space is still very much a mystery to us, because we know beyond the "space" we see, there is so much more we [i]can't[/i[ see or know.

There's a small comfort in looking at the vast vacuum and knowing there is so much more out there than just our individual problems and complaints.

On another note, I believe there could be other lifeforms out there. It's highly likely since space is very very vast and there is so much that could be out there.

I agree with Dark Evangel's post that there is no guarantee that life out there is as advanced as us. But, they could be much more advance than us, too!

I doubt we'll live to that day that we'll get to see such advance in space though...

cyanideislove 11-17-2007 10:50 PM

I think there has to be some other life out there, and I'd really like to find it. Or, I'd like to find the intelligent ones. Spores, and bugs, and things like that would be cool, but finding some race of super intelligent purple people would be totally amazing.

Hojico 11-18-2007 01:42 AM

I would never go into space O.o; It scares me real good...Its to big and vast and dark and cold and airless! But I do believe in aliens, smart ones. And dumb ones. Its stupid to believe that we are the only intelligent things in the entire universe. I bet theres things on mars, and all over the universe millions of light years away. Did you know some crazy physic lady that a lot of people believe, said that aliens are gonna come in 2012? And thats also the year that a lot of people say the world is going to end. The aliens might kill us all, or the world we know will end, and a new better one will begin :3!

Winter Wind 11-18-2007 02:01 AM

I'd totally want to go to space. But I'm not in great health, and I'm really weak. The low gravitational pull would kill me in a week.

I'd like to find new planets and stuff, and see a nova explode. x3
