How Clean Is Your Computer? [move to comp discussion?]

Lol okay. Now. My friend (Karine) and I were just on this subject about being OCD over our computers. Mine lags, hers is fast but she's OCD about organizing.

The other night, I WIPED my computer out like mad and it's not even half done yet. I took out so many unnecessary pictures that didn't even need to be saved on my computer. I also uninstalled a couple of programs that were absolutely USELESS to my computer and put the fact aside that they were HUUUUUUUGE.

Now I still have like a bagillion useless folders that were left behind from the programs I've uninstalled in the past few months. I am itching to get rid of them all. I also have some useless Photoshop brushes.

When I save any pictures, some of them are pointless, but they always go directly to My Pictures. I have a few folders in there for the things I mostly save but there's just those few other things that don't fit into the folders so they just lurk in My Pictures.

Karine, on the other hand, is COMPLETELY OCD with her laptop. She has all her pictures in a folder called Karine with numerous other folders inside. Ontop of that, she COLOR CODED THE PICTURES. LIKE WHAADDAAAFUXX? xD Lol I laughed when she told me that.

So how clean is your computer?

Is it a big mess? Is it organized to the last speck? Is it messy but clean at the same time?

Tell us about it. ;]

Karine 11-27-2007 01:55 AM

Psssh.
Being organized is awesome. 8D i can find anything in seconds now.
You're just jealous. xD [kidding of course]

i have done most of my main files, i just have to uninstall things, and also get rid of some brushes. ^^
And maybe delete some fonts.

Scribble Me Orange 11-27-2007 02:07 AM

Psh Karine. Really. xD OCDDDDDDDDDD.

Oh yeah. I also have some extra brushes and fonts to get rid of. I actually think I'mma wipe out ALL my photoshop brushes and just download what I have credit for because I don't want to steal and I also want to have credit for the ones I do use.

Aurora 11-27-2007 02:38 AM

xD i'm kinda the same as you..but I try to keep it organized to. :3 I always have like...100 or more pics on my pictures, lol

Scribble Me Orange 11-27-2007 02:54 AM

I had to organize my pictures. It got insane. Now most everything is in a folder.

Wynna 11-27-2007 02:57 AM

My own personal documents on the family PC, are kept in a organized file folder system, with like a folder for each subject in High school, and stuff like that. I hate it when I cannot find something on my computer, that happens to be like the last file in the farthest reaches of the my documents folder.

Yeah 11-27-2007 02:59 AM

Mine is a big mess and I probably wouldn't know how to get rid of most of it. There are programs on my computer that I am not sure if I should keep or get rid of and I am afraid to find out what will happen if I delete them.

Scribble Me Orange 11-27-2007 03:00 AM

If I didn't download it or I don't know where it came from, I don't touch it. I don't want to harm mah poor compuuuuterrr. D; - pets computer -

On the other hand, IF YOU DOWNLOADED IT, or if you DIDN'T download it but KNOW WHAT IT IS..then I'd uninstall it if you want. xD

Staff Sergeant 11-27-2007 03:07 AM

Hmmm.
I've got about 400Gb of Games and programs on one hard drive. Then maybe 20gigs of pictures and 50gigs of videos and 70somethingGb of music on another hard drive.

It's all just a pile of slop, truth be told.
Very messy, but I use the "search" function alot. So it's okay :3

Angelin 11-27-2007 03:48 AM

My laptop is semi organized, I think that I only organize are the School work and the drawings that I do from time to time and yet my laptop is very fast, I was thinking of upgrading both of the memories.

I have heard that if the hard drive space is bigger and isn't almost the same as the speed it tends to lag a lot.

Dystopia 11-27-2007 04:35 AM

My computer is pretty clean. I don't want lag and I know that many files means lag. Therefore, the files must die. xD

Fabby 11-27-2007 04:37 AM

My computer is... somewhat organized. I like to keep it semi-clean, but I'm lazy. XD

Azelf_Rampardos 11-27-2007 04:39 AM

Well I have a mess of pictures that I need to start taking out as well xD And I have already cleaned everything else, so my computer is working pretty smoothly! >_<

Faunia 11-27-2007 04:55 AM

I can't say that my computer is really organized, but my projects folder sure is. Every piece of art and writing in there is kept in a specific place. Oh, and my school notes. Those are put in folders by year, subject, and date. But my downloaded pictures are a mess. I either stick them on my desktop or toss them into my 'My Pictures' folder.

Tension 11-27-2007 04:56 AM

  • My computer is so messed up. :[

Divine_lil_brat 11-27-2007 04:59 AM

Super clean, its brand new XD

clock 11-27-2007 06:08 AM

Everything in my computer is super organized. >__<
I can't stand when there's billions of useless pictures
everywhere, so I have a lot of folders.

Melissa 11-27-2007 06:23 AM

My computer is in complete disarray. I'm always working on three different projects for school and I (usually) make folders and throw what I'm working on in them.

Most of the time I end up saving 50 bajillion copies of the save project because I'm paranoid I'll loose something.

mewmew07 11-27-2007 09:05 AM

I guess you could say that my computer is organized to an extent. I have folders for basically anything. Like pictures, wallpaper, music, avatar art, etc. I try to put them in number/alphabetical order if it is possible. Though that's about it.

juno rally 11-27-2007 09:23 AM

i just got a new pc so its clean at the moment.

tho any one here use a program called windowblinds? and customize? its something that changes the theam of your computer, i.e. the bars and the start menue and windows.

im asking because its not working for me and all it ends up doing is changing them to the classic theam- the one before XP

any one got any ideas what to do to sort it out :(

ta for any help, and i'll delete this if its going off topic.

Tre Le Coco 11-27-2007 09:31 AM

my PC is seriously screwed and in need of a full clean xD; it has a 120GB hardrive on it, and i've still got 80GB left, but whats on it is all messy and i haven't defragged in ages xDDD; so it lags and freezes all the time

my boyfriend is gonna clean it out for me :D

speedvolt 11-27-2007 10:27 AM

I mostly clean my computer once a week but for 3 years until no its still as shiny as it used to, and when I really need to search for something I use battery powered electricity

aonith 11-27-2007 08:03 PM

My PC is really clean right now. I bought it just a month ago... xD
Anyway, I want to keep it clean as more sa possible.

b e y o n d 11-27-2007 08:19 PM

  • My computer's pretty clean, although I should probably defrag it again soon. I probably defrag... once a month or so? And I organise all my files - I have lots of different folders so that I can keep track of things like pictures, music, documents... I wouldn't say I'm OC about it, but I like to keep it organised. :3

[L]ove[H]ate 11-27-2007 08:44 PM

O yes, I have the same OCD. I like to have all my folders organized and what not. I hate it being unorganized. It's crazy. =O
