Kelsey Briggs...What a sad ending

Child abuse, what do you think about it?
If you don't know who Kelsey Briggs is, I suggest you watch this little video about her.
Here
Be warned though, I cried when I saw it. I don't normally cry at much. However I balled my eyes out.
Watch it before you post.
Well you don't have to, but it'd be best.

Do you think the punishment towards the man was enough?
What about her mother?
Would you have given her back to her mother after what happened?

As for me...
I believe the man should have gotten more than what he got. He should have been beat and castrated...and just killed. Period. Karma will get him, just like it gets everyone.

Her mother should have gotten no parol possible.

I know if I had been a judge/what ever that had any say in the case, I would have fought my hardest to keep her away from her mother.

That’s pretty bad that they allowed the child to go back to the mother. Sadly there are a lot of cases out there like that and not enough is done to protect the children. There should be no second chances for the parents period. On the news the other day I saw a case about how a child was being abused and the police did a search of the parents’ house and found an infant’s body that had been in the basement for almost two years. Personally, I think that if anyone kills someone else they should get life in prison with no chance of parole. The laws are too lenient on most offenses, but that’s a whole other rant.

That's exactly what I say.
I don't care how much pleading a parent does, if you hit your child you should NEVER be allowed to see them. I wish that had been the case with my father.

Oh my...That's really bad. Did it say what happened to those two parents? I agree on the whole, no parole thing, and for going to jail for the rest of their lives. I think they should just be killed. Save some space. >.<

Poor little child.

Why would her parents do that to her.
She just a little kid!..
I really liked her pictures. She was really cute.
:((

That is so terrible! T_T What the is wrong with that guy, I don't get why people abuse children and kill others like that...that poor girl..at least she's in a better place, but that really makes me upset..T_T

.~.Secret.love.~. 11-28-2007 04:06 PM

Yeah at least she's in a better placae, and she was so cute...
I understand what you mean about why someone would do that to such a cute little girl. It's crazy.
I'm sorry to have made you upset.

In the case I was talking about, they had just made the arrests last time I heard. Sad thing is the parents claimed the child died then they tried to cremate it in a grill because they claimed they could afford a funeral and when that didn’t work, they put it in the basement. Strange thing is that they were telling neighbors that the infant was down south with relatives.

I saw that when someone in the GD posted the link. I feel really bad for the father, though.

t0tto 11-30-2007 12:22 AM

It's tragic that it happened. I think that her step dad should have gotten life in prison or been sentenced to death. From what I read the mother didn't do anything..? So why do you think the mother shouldn't get her child back? For all we know the step father threatened her and she was too scared to help her child. Things like that happen, we just don't know the situation.

Things like this happen everyday and go unknown. Sometimes things even way worse. I find it hard to get so bent out of shape over it when there's way more happening to other children/people all over the place.

Still sad to hear about terrible things like that.

Awww...I wish I could watch it but my dad blocked youtube, so I will watch it when I go to my friend's next week.

Majinkoz 11-30-2007 12:32 AM

What the hell!? That's horrible! D:

I didn't cry when I saw it....but I don't know I started to get a little misty when it said something like "it was a few days before her dad came home, and instead of a warm welcome, he had to bury his daughter" and then with the pictures of him standing over her grave...that truly was so sad.

And honestly I do NOT think that was enough punishment...for either of the parents. And didn't someone kind of think when she had 2 broken legs that something was up?

It's honestly so sad. :(

well, chidl abuse these dyas seems like just about anything you ca do is child abuse. Spanking in public, hitting other then their rear end, really i am just fed up with it. If your child will not shut up, often they deserved to be beat. I was beat as a child, and a teen, and a was not abused, i was not deeply an dempitionally wronged. TO me it just seems that beating a person is something that must be done if peopel are to learn form tehir misatkes.

sarahjanexcore 11-30-2007 02:17 AM

I think that anyone who hits a child is a horrible, sick, twisted person. I don't even understand how anyone could justify themselves for abusing their own child, especially in Kelsey's case. What in the world could a little girl do to desere her own death. Also, how could her mom marry that awful man? People who do that to children should die because it is one of the worst things anyone could do.

.~.Secret.love.~. 11-30-2007 03:47 AM

Okay, well for one.
The mother knew what was going on...
I would have to say, I don't think anyone deserves to be beat.
I do believe in a light spanking. That's what I was brought up on. My mother would hit my bum, and I learned my lesson. My neiece and nephew where hit on the bum. Never beat never hit in the face/stomach/legs/arms. Just the bum. Nothing more.

You know?
I don't want to get flammed for what I said, but that's what I believe. If I ever have a child, I would spank them if they missbehaved. But never beat them.

clock 11-30-2007 05:54 AM

I don't even want to think about that and the faulty
court system of the U.S. It's awful.

I disagree with you when you say that guy should be
beaten and things like that. No one should be beaten,
period, no matter what they do. That's just my opinion.
And I oppose the death sentence. That's the easy way
out. It's better for them to suffer for life, thinking
of what they've done.

Fabby 11-30-2007 06:52 AM

I saw a that video on some MySpace bulletin. O_o
I thought it was really fucking horrible.

It made me hate people even more.

Karine 11-30-2007 11:11 PM

There is a line between abuse and discipline, for sure. i got spanked on the bum when i didn't get it the first time my mother said no or something of the sort. It hurt obviously, but the feeling would go away. i'd remember not to do it again or listen, but i understood why my mother did that. If you ABUSE your child for the same reasons [did something stupid, etc], that pain will NOT go away. Maybe physically, but if Kelsey still lived, then she probably would of been scarred for life. That's just.... awful. The punishments were just not good enough. i agree with everyone who said the parents should of been sentenced to life in prison.
Even then, i have no idea why someone would even THINK about doing that to any person at any age. What's the point? You may not like this child, it may of ruined your life, whatever the reason is, but there is adoption. Not to be rude, but if your reason behind abusing your child is they messed up your life, just put them up for adoption. i'd take that over the mental scars or possible death any day.
Plus, what do you gain by abusing your child? Nothing. You only loose things. You'd get sent to prison, but knowing me [i wouldn't even do anything of the sort, i love kids <3] just knowing that this one little person in the world will never recover, because of something i did, and if they were killed and i'd never see what they would be like once they grew up, i'd go insane. i'd tried to make everything better again, and never do anything of the sort again.
Those parents.... ugh. They are just things words can't describe. D: <
Edit:
Why didn't anyone notice that the injuries started to get worse after the mother got married? Like, for god's sake, both legs broken? How could someone just ignore that? D: <

Poor girl, it must have been hard for the father. May she rest in peace.
