Code Red?
I'm verry confuzzled at the moment....I'm at school and they called "code red" over the inercom and told the teachers to lock the students in the classrooms. I don't think it's anything too serious because the principal's voice is so calm and holds no hint of fear or urgency. But this is trpublesome because I can't go to my next calss. At least I get more menewsha time! someone wanna strike up a conversation?
Update: 2/20/08 Ok, I posted this before, but it was in the middle of the thread, so no one noticed it. Our building has three parts: DIAL (my school), another hight school and a middle school. I think what happened was someone was in the middle school that wasn't supposed to be there. I'm not sure on the details.... |
Code Red is usually code for "there's an intruder" I believe; they can't just say "hey, there's someone here that shouldn't be!!" over the intercom because then that person would hear them.
Maybe it's just a drill though, they're supposed to do them every so often. :] |
Wow, that would scare me to death. But hopefully it's nothing bad, if he doesn't sound worried.
|
it migt be an intruder, or a bomb scare, i had that once, but the person was stupid, planning to blow up the shool at midnight :P or some other emergency.
|
At my high school, they would annouce "Would Mr. (something) please come to the front office" as a secret code if there was an intruder. So the intruder wouldn't know themself and then the police could catch 'em. Or whatever.
On an unrelated note, isn't there a soda called Code Red? O_o; |
Yeah, I don't think it's a drill though. It is getting annoying that like almost everyone in the room is like "OHMIGOD WE'RE GONNA DIE".

I think it's probably just a drill. We used to have them at my old high school all the time.
There was only one time when we had an actual one, but that was because there was a kid on campus with a weapon of some sort. I was stuck inside my science class for about five hours. -.- But it was fun cause we played card games, snorted some arm - n - hammer...It's a long story, we, my two friends and I decided to taste the arm - n - hammer, well then we darred each other to snort it. Surprisingly it cleared my stuff nose. hahaha...>.< When it was all over, it was discovered that the kid didn't even have a real weapon, he had a toy gun. But it looked realy. Oh we had a lock down when there was a stabbig at my school though...I saw the whole thing. Then there was the time we were confided to the classrooms because there was a fight in the hallway between the Black and Asians (not trying to be racist or anything) it was just dangerous. It took a whole lot of police men to seperate them. |
Haha, I thought this was going to be a thread about that nasty Code Red soda crap. I'm glad its not, cause the I would have had to recount horror stories. :3
Anyways, on topic, back when I was in high school instead of announcing the codes or whatever over the intercom they would send out emails to the teachers and then come over the intercom and tell the teachers to check their emails. Stupid idea, really, because it was a huge waste of time and we all knew what was going on anyway. *shrugs* |
school drills always sucked.
|
We do those too.
There's lock-outs and lock-downs. I've had a real lock-out before. It was quite boring. I forgot what it was called though. @ _ @;; But lock-downs are Code Red. The class all sat in the corner all curled up for at lest an hour (maybe 50min). That was just a practice. The police came to make sure we were doing it right so they went around to every single classroom. D; |
The thing about these drills I do not get is that they say it over the intercom where the intruder could hear them anyways and know what's going on.. and since it's the same in my school they know exactly what is going on since it's the same in several schools...
Atleast with Usachan's school they did something so that they did not give away that there is a bunch of kids in the school.. >.> |
Of course he's going to say it calmly, even if he is freaking out inside. If you act scared, everyone else is going to get scared and panic. Then you've got an even bigger mess on your hands than you did before. xD
I know we've had lock downs before, but I don't think that it was ever announced over the intercom like that. If I remember correctly, one of the people from the office came down to each classroom and told the teachers, who would tell us we couldn't leave and all that jazz. I guess they were just drills, because I can't imagine them doing that if there really was a threat. It would take too long and by the time they went to the first few classrooms, if there was an intruder, he'd probably already be in a classroom doing whatever he came to do. |
We used to have codes all the time, but they wouldn't tell us like code Alpha, or code ZZ. One day we had a 75 minute lock down because a teacher's son was going to go deer hunting after school, and took his hunting rifles to school. We were all really upset about that, and the kid didn't get suspended or anything.
|
That's just lockdown. So someone inside the building can't enter the classroom. I'm sure criminals know about it though.
|
Damn it! Never happened that tome before... It would be gunny because we would interrupt the class and change the subject to a random talk! Including the teacher x3
|
Yeah, code red is usually a bad thing...like there is an intruder. And of course your principal would be calm. He has to make the students feel safe...I'm sure if they principal came on and was like, "OMFG there is a guy with a ski mask and knife running around the school" There would be a little bit of panic...
|
I've never had that happen to me before. Well, it could also be because my high school didn't have an intercom system, but yeah. xD We were just told that we were supposed to close the blinds and lights and sit on the floor if the teachers somehow got the message. How they would get the message, I don't know. Perhaps it was some kind of special teacher telepathy. xD
|
never happened in my school. small town and all that. plus all the guys had knives so good luck trying anything there. shoot the entire school had a ready supply of improvised weapons. right down to the chairs we sat in. erm yes i was a self defense instructor at our school.
|
Sounds like something bad is happening/about to happen. Like everyone said, probably an intruder. I hope they catch the intruder at your school and everything turns out all right.
|
You know, I think it would be REALLY funny to see an intruder in our building on the university. He would bust in, and about three seconds later vanish in a hail of thrown hammers, wrenches, bar stock and who knows WHAT else we have lying around. That's if he was lucky, considering the crew we have. xD
|
What does confuzzled mean? anyway dont panic! I was also in a play once but I managed to finish my whole part without a sweat just because I thought of it as the real thing happening without the audience.
