What's wrong with my shirt?
Ok, so I have this Shirt that says "DARE to Resist Drugs and Violence" It's a few years old so it's worn and comfertable.
My mom doesn't like it because it is an older shirt, it has one little hole in it but it can easily be fixed. But come to find out from a friend there are a few other people at my school who, for some reason unknown to me, don't like my shirt. It sends a good message and personaly I like it. So why do you think some people might not like the shit? Do you have any articels of clothing that people just don't like for a stupid reason? |
|
I have my DARE t-shirt still and so does my friend. My friend's has been worn more than mine so it's faded and her mother doesn't like her wearing it. It was black and now it's gone a sort of faded blackish grey colour. The new DARE t-shirt are white now I think.
|
From the DARE program, right? i think it's a good message. ^__^ Maybe they think it's corny?
|
Maybe theyy... like drugs and violence?
Do you think it's the shirt itself or the message that they don't like? It might just look bad since it's old, I know my old DARE shirt is terrible looking and even though I got it in like 5th grade it's still about 100 times too large. |
Well at least your DARE t-shirt has been well worn mine still looks new which is really worrying since I've had it for five/six years and it's been worn regularly and put in the wash many times. I really must find out what my mother washes that t-shirt in.

I think there is an anti-comfort campaign in fashion. I mean seriously, spike heels?
But I get what you mean--I have a lot of clothes that have paint, cante crayon, ink, and other stains on them from doing art and my mother thinks I'm crazy for wearing the stuff in public. I have one shirt that I love--dark purple with a white rose outlined on it--that has a small stain. She hates it with a passion. |
I have a shirt with a fetus on it, not many people like it. Also tho, for holes in my shirts i usually use a button (pin) to cover them, or a crap load of saftey pins not only does it hide the hole, people think its "punk" so you dont have to listen to HAY DID U KNO U HAS A HOLE IN UR SHIRT all day.

They don't like it cause they are druggies. That's the only reason I could see to hate a shirt like that. That's like that whole should drinking be legal for all ages. The only ones who think 12 year olds should get drunk are drunkards.
|
I have a Mickey Mouse shirt that was a hand-me-down. I've had it for like 8 years, so the thing's AT LEAST 10. I cut the neck out so it would still fit me, and I love the shirt. It's sloppy, but comfy. My mom won't let we wear it in public, though.
|
I agree with most of the others; they're probably druggies. *cough cough*
-_____-;; My friends HATE it when I wear my pink and purple polkadoted shirt. But, I like it. Why should I care? And I also just like them staring at me with wierd expressions. xD You can read their faces quite easily, it's usually like 'what the f**k are you wearing' or 'I don't know you' type of thing. |
I hate the DARE shirts because they seem to be a fad item now. I got rid of mine years ago and would never buy one. I’ve been out of the program for almost 15 years so that “fashion” item went out of style for me years ago..
|
Well, old shirts usually look like crap, especially if they have holes in them. Considering that quite a few people base way too much on looks, they're not going to like something looks bad. Pretty simple reason why they don't like it. xD It doesn't mean they're druggies, they're just into looking 'good.'
I personally love a lot of my old clothes, no matter how worn and ripped up they may be. Doesn't change the fact that they don't look very good though. I've got a shirt and hat with the Ford Mustang logo on them and my boyfriend's family hates it because they're Chevy people. |
i have a couple of coats that are just plain hideous to look at, and my mother hates me wearing them, but i think that's honestly why I where it, because 1. it's ugly, 2. my mother hates me wearing it.
|
My parents hate that I wear a patch on the side of my left shoulder everyday to school. They think I'm in a gang or something. :( .
I see nothing wrong with that shirt. I have seen way worst shirts in school and no one even complains about it. (I guess the person wearing it could affect someone else's judgements.) |
Maybe they don't like it because they think it's nerdy?
|
Some people may not like the shirt because they have failed to resist and thusly feel guilty every time they look at the shirt. Or they could just be thinking that you want to make yourself look better by pointing fingers at those people who didn't resist. ...I, personally, don't take this view, but it's just a thought.
I have several clothes that I love, but can't wear in public because they have indecent holes worn into them. I also have this faded, slightly large shirt I got at a garage sale that my mother doesn't like because she says it makes me look like a bum. ...but it's so comfy! |
Hmmm. That sounds like an awesome shirt!! <333
My mom does the same thing. Actually, more my dad. Whenever there's a hole in a shirt I like, he goes...."WHY DO YOU WEAR SUCH AN UGLY SHIRT????" Yup. And I say....because its wearable and I like it. :P Hmm....I don't know why people don't like your shirt. Maybe some people feel bad when they look at it. Or maybe they think your a 'goodie-goodie' from wearing it. But don't listen to what they say! (Obviously). It's an AWESOME shirt (LIke I've already stated in the beginning of this response)! <3 |
Some people just can't appreciate a nice worn in shirt.
|
first of all its "comfortable" second its "shirt" not the typo word you wrote, And the solution is that the students might think the teachers will see it and add more safety on drugs which those students might really want, yet its there lose because there not as conscienced as you.
|
Why would people hate that kind of shirt?
I like shirts with words, quotes and art in it. Especially if their dark colored. I love clothes like those. |
I don't know but I think that's a cool message! Maybe they don't like it cause it looks to old or they are druggies? xD Idk.. I have a couple of shirts with writings on it. There's one my sister found that she wants to get, I think it's really cool. It say something like, Love is love, supporting peoples rights about that. I cant remember what it says exactly, but it's cool! ^^ I don't wear t-shirts with sayings on them much though..some are cool but some that i've seen in stores are...O_o..odd lol xD

I remember getting my DARE shirt in 6th grade, if I wore it now I think people would just wonder why I haven't grow up a bit since then (since I am in college).
Maybe people think since its been awhile since your class got the shirt that you should have gotten new clothes. Either that or the shirt just isn't aesthetically pleasing (mine was black with red and white text, very basic but comfy). Not that it really matters, wear what you like and what's comfortable cause that's more important than having others approve. I know my boyfriend still wears his gym T-shirt at home cause its comfy, fits, and soft. Its got one or two holes in it and is about 10 years old now ^^; Sometimes the best clothes are the ones that you've made comfy over the years. |
Thep eople who don't like it are probably the people who DO drugs. Ahaha. DARE is an old acronym for a drug awareness program to ensure that teens and most people stay away from drugs. If you want to wear the shirt, fix it up and wear it. Who cares what people think. Be PROUD for what you STAND for and what YOU think is RIGHT. Some people will like it. Some won't. It's all part of life. |
Yeah, I'm really not too sure why kids at your school don't like me...maybe they do drugs and they think you're sending them this evil message...I personally like those DARE shirts. :)
And you said that it's a little worn out, maybe your mom just wants you to look nice...? I don't know, I know with my mom...when I was younger, I came from a fine family, not rich but not poor either, and my mom just didn't like it when I wore jeans to school when they had holes in them, she just thought it looked bad, perhaps that's what your mom things, and she just wants to make sure that you look nice. <3 |
