Why is it so cold?

I'm sitting next to the heater, but I'm shivering. I'm not sick; I'm wearing long sleeves and jeans; I'm not by a fan. I'm just cold for some inexplicable reason.

So...
Anything like this ever happen to you?
Do you have any idea why I'm so cold when I'm right next to the bloody heater? o_0

nayru_moon 11-29-2007 05:30 AM

Yes this does happen to me quite alot....i'm sitting by the pellet stove and im cold. >W< i think one of the main reason is your not moving so much so your body is not working as hard when u are in movement and when ur moving ur body is more heated thats what i think...or maybe some people just generate mor heat then others.

Mystrelia 11-29-2007 05:33 AM

LOL! Do you have some moisture in your air? Around here this time of year it can get pretty foggy and fog mixed with cold makes for it creeping clear to the bone. It's also been colder here earlier this year which isn't helping.

I know you said you don't feel sick so this probably isn't it, but there is a bug going around that's kind of bizarre. I spent two days chilling and had a mild headache as did other members of the family. If it was just me I'd think it was a me thing, but since others did it too I know it was a bug.

Smellerbee 11-29-2007 05:34 AM

Edit.

psyrien 11-29-2007 05:44 AM

Hmm... I think there's something to be said about your movement theory, naryu_moon.

Or then it might be that I have poor circulation. I've realized that my hands and feet get a lot colder a lot faster than other people's. TT.TT

@Mystrelia
I hope it's not a bug. >_>
And I'm really clueless about the whole weather thing because I previously lived in Hawaii where I didn't have to deal with cold + moisture = fog = veeery cold. I think it's dry here. Other people have complained about it. I can't really tell the difference in humidity yet. ^^;

d2hiriyuu 11-29-2007 05:44 AM

your not at home, your in cold area up north. Yes it happens to me, in my room too, and defiantly in your room, but you have less light...yeah sunbox!

Mystrelia 11-29-2007 05:49 AM

I hope it's not a bug too! On the upside, this one doesn't last as long as a lot of them and it doesn't seem to be making people really sick.

If you were in Hawaii previously you may well just not be used to cold weather. My hands and feet are often cold in the winter but not so much in the house we live in now which has an actual heating system.

Amo_Angelus 11-29-2007 05:53 AM

It's called winter my dear... It can chill you even when you're by a heater. Angel suggests soup, piping hot, it'll warm you inside.

Really? Wow. o_0 we didn't know that. And yes, soup would be good. The problem is that we should really be sleeping soon, and making soup requires actually putting everything together to make the soup and then washing and putting everything away. We'll keep soup in mind next time though. ^^

I hate the cold. x_X And the heater's broken in my house. So...yea. x_X

Mousey 11-29-2007 06:52 AM

I'm like that toooo. A lot. ^_^;; I'll be lying in bed typing on my laptop (which definitely doesn't keep itself cool), right under the heater, wearing sweatpants and a hoodie, even some fuzzy socks ... and I'm STILL cold!

I know I'm just cold-prone, most of the time. Which sucks because I hate being cold. ;3; And my idiot roommate doesn't help because she's forever dying of heatstroke, so even when it's almost December, she turns the air-conditioner on. Hahahaha. -_-

Rad Lionheart 11-29-2007 07:01 AM

I've warmed myself up from the inside out, good ol' hot chocolate.
Why not try it yourself?

woopdidoodoo 11-29-2007 07:06 AM

I hate it when that happens, or when you feel hot for no reason whatsoever. Yes warm drinks and warm food will help you alot in this case. And get a blanket or doona and have it around you.

d2hiriyuu 11-29-2007 07:15 AM

hm, I like these suggestions, I shall keep in mind for when I am out at night, like when it is windy cold like it is tonight. I must agree though poor circulation hurts, but makes wearing sandals in cold ok.

mewmew07 11-29-2007 07:25 AM

Well, I live in Hawaii, where the majority of the time it is hot. Though sometimes, I get cold and wear a jacket. And then I ask my parents if they are cold, and they say that they are not. Which is wierd. But I think that I am always a little cold.

d2hiriyuu 11-29-2007 07:34 AM

Hawaii to here in the north region of the U.S. is really hard to deal with, I went to Hawaii for break, and came back and noticed how cold it had gotten, it had started to snow and cold wind.

clock 11-29-2007 07:37 AM

Maybe you were shaking because of something else. xD
Sometimes, when I haven't eaten anything healthy all
day, I shake and stuff. o__o; But yeah, I get random
bouts of coldness.

Peyo 11-29-2007 07:42 AM

i cant really help you out i get like this sometimes...i never thought of asking about it though...it is cold here now and i dont have a heater here so freezing to death :/

d2hiriyuu 11-29-2007 08:26 AM

I think without warm blankets and such I don't want to move these days,it is getting very old here...

speedvolt 11-29-2007 09:51 AM

Well there are two explanations that explain why your cold while your next to the heater:
First is: You've been in cold places all day
Second is: The weather is totally cold

mystic kiwi 11-29-2007 10:04 AM

I got cold really, really easy so I understand what you mean. I hate being cold more than anything so I’m normally by a heater or fireplace when I’m home. When I’m in my car, I turn the heat as high as it can go in the winter time and never really seem to warm up, even though the heat does get quite hot. I also tend to wear a lot of layers to try to stay warm, but that doesn’t always work. I’ve even put those hand warmer things that give off heat in my clothes to try to stay warm before. I have like no body fat so I don’t retain heat very well.

Aurora 11-29-2007 02:00 PM

D: My mom keeps the house cold at night and in the day time to...even in winter...but it's usually not as cold in the daytime as it is at night since she turns it up a bit. Once the heater thingy broke at night and I woke up freezing. I had to put stockings on and cover up with TONS of blankets. xD

Sirec 11-29-2007 02:31 PM

I usually don't get too cold, despite my mom insisting on keeping the house as cold as possible, but my hands are always freezing and they get numb a lot. My hands turn blue and they're like, 10 degrees colder than the rest of my body at least. =[

Majinkoz 11-29-2007 02:34 PM

It's like....WHOA cold here now, and it's also really windy. D:

Yeah 11-29-2007 02:46 PM

When I am getting ready to start my period, I get extremely cold. Everyone else is burning up and I'm freezing, when I was younger that never happened but, I had a friend who was that way so, maybe that's what it is.
