RUSH, That Canadian Trio

-Not sure if there has been a Rush thread yet, but I didn't see one on the first page.-

Well seeing as Rush is my favourite band, I'd like to create a discussion on them, who on Menewsha likes Rush? when did you start listening to them? How did you start?
Why do you like them? Who's your favourite member? (Mine's Geddy of course, I'm a bassist and adore his style.) Favourite song? Favourite album? Favourite era?

Let me know what you think!

I started listening to Rush, well I can't even remember when...but it's been some time now, long enough to have memorized some lyrics and know what albums I'm talking about, haha.

I like them because they're just an amazing band, Alex is an amazing guitarist, Geddy is an amazing bassist and Niel is an amazing drummer, they make some damn amazing music!

My favourite song is Circumstances from their Hemispheres album back in '78, favourite album too love the epic title track.

Favourite era, like most people is the Prog era back in the 70's.

Angel likes Rush.She's listened to them for absolutely ages.They're one of her dads bands. She has no favourite though.

I just put flashback radio on or planet zeb when on the net. But At home I listen to CDs... speaking of which... *makes a note to go copy all her dads rush CDs*

We share CDs far too much. He's copied my maiden.

I don't own a lot of CDs, I sadly downloaded way too much.
But I do like to eventually own a collection, it's just slowly building because of my lack of money (Need a job.)

But I've got 2 Rush CDs, so I'm getting there, haha.

Don't get mad at me or anything, but I don't like rush. The guy who sings lead, his voice is too loud and annoying. Though there are a few songs of theres that I don't mind, though.

I understand not everyone enjoys Geddy's voice, it's just the people who say things like "It's like listening to finger nails on chalkboards" when they're listening to Janis Joplin.

I can't say I'm a huge fan of Rush, but I did enjoy Alex Lifeson on that one episode of Trailer Park Boys, lulz.

When did you start listening to them? - My parents listened to Rush for a long while, so I got into Rush because of them.

Why do you like them? - They have a nice beat and style.

Favorite member? - Don't really have one.

Favourite song? - Hand Over Fist

Just letting you know, this thread makes me want to listen to more of their stuff...well, this, and that Rush-oriented modded PC I saw. XD

Well considering I'm a huge fan of Rush, if you want to listen to more of their stuff, you ask me and I shall tell you what to listen to. 8)

Alright, well I always suggest people start with "Moving Pictures" and "Permanent Waves" as albums, then move back to "2112" "A Farewell to Kings" and "Hemispheres" after those.

Then start on the Synth Rock era, if you enjoy those album I mentioned.
Personally, I prefer "Grace Under Pressure" and "Signals" from the Synth era, rather than the latter synth.

And if you're also interested, there is their new Album which kicks ass "Snakes and Arrows"
