Unless it tastes like chocolate. ^^

There is something called a Chocolate Martini ^^ Haven't had one yet but the name intrigues me. It looks like its that chocolate jello pudding in a martini glass.

Chocolate martinis don't taste very chocolate-y. Any martini is going to taste very strongly of vodka or gin, whichever is used as the base.

A good chocolatey drink is the mudslide. Or the Ski lift-- which is hot cocoa and peppermint schnapps (or use creme de menthe). Or Baileys in hot cocoa or coffee.

A lot of mixed drinks that don't have an alcohol base are very tasty and you don't taste the alcohol usually. Which can be a danger! Be wary as they're usually stronger than they seem.

I got drunk yesterday, and ended up falling asleep with my friend Megan on hardwood floor.

(MY BACK! D;)

Hmm, I've had mudslides and didn't think those were very chocolaty tasting (still good though). Last martini I had was a cosmo, that tasted more fruity-apple than I expected (still could taste the alcohol in it but really had a fruit aftertaste).

Oh, it was so many years ago--years and years ago--but I can count the number of times I got drunk on one hand and one of those times was probably the single most humiliating night of my life! I'll never forget it and that night taught me a huge, huge lesson. I HATE being drunk and out of control. I never minded drinking and getting a little buzz because I was still in control of my faculties, but if a person drinks to the point where they do things they would never do otherwise that is just absolutely scary to me.

I never drank while under-age, mainly because to me breaking laws is totally taboo. When I was young in our state the legal drinking age was 19 (it's since been changed to 21 and for good reason) so once I became legal age I did experiment. As for the taste of alcohol, I like almost everything except beer (I do like a good malted liquor, though). My favorites were wine coolers, full-bodied wines and mixed drinks like kalhua and cream, strawberry daiquiri, tequilla sunrises, pina colada and things like that. I rarely even touch alcohol now (although I wouldn't mind an occasional drink) because it messes with my blood sugar and it's not worth it.

I'm from a Guyanese family so drinking is inescapable. Both side of my family has alcoholics in them. I've witnessed things by them that I'm not too proud to share. I think it's because of the things I've seen when people do become drunk is what is driving me not to drink. When I was younger and had no sense, my parents used to give me shots of rum and I would happily accept thinking it was so cool and awesome to drink. (lol, I know) Then later I realized the dangers of it and just what being addicted is. My uncle is a prime example of an alcoholic drinker. My grandfather drank so much rum in his time that now in his olden days he can't eat salt, pepper or drink alcohol because he has hole in his stomach. I fear that's going to be my uncle's fate as well.

I have tasted alcohol and I hate it. Very much. I don't mind wines or coolers but I have zero tolerance for alcohol users that go passed their limit. If people are drunk around me I tend to snap quicker because of crap coming from their mouth half the time. It's not that I look down on drinkers, but I certainly look down on alcoholics that know they can do better and don't.

That's because a Cosmopolitan isn't a true martini. Most vodka based cocktails that are made in a shaker are poured into a martini glass. And then listed as a 'martini'.

True martinis are made with all alcohol. The Cosmo has fruit juices.

I don't drink alot and I haven't gotten drunk yet. Not what I or my friends would consider drunk anyways xDD A shot or two of rum and a beer and I barely feel that much different so I guess I'm not too lightweight. xP I do shots mostly. I like some mixed drinks too, beer not as much.
A friend of mine is also turning 21 two days before me. So we'll have a double party probably. We've learned our lessons about being careful who to invite to parties and making sure friends don't bring over alot of people we don't know. xP

I never drank before I was allowed to, but I did drink before the law said I was old enough. Nothing major, but I was allowed a glass of wine on new years from the age of 16 on. I'm 29 now and while I do drink pretty regularly (usually a drink every evening), I rarely get drunk.

Ahh ok then. Sorry, my knowledge is very limited so far in drinks. I've worked my way a little down that list at restaurants but really only know what each tasted like, and all the ones I've tried have been mixed (save for Sherry, Ouzo, and Rum).

Hmm...Drinking is highly overrated.

I'm 17. I live the highschooler's life filled with the social drama of attending the weekly party. Honestly though, a lot of times drinking is simply overrated.

When flat-out drunk, your actions are detrimental to yourself and people are free to "mess" with you. Which can go anywhere from simple party jokes to flat out mean pranks.

In addition, if you're drunk, you really can't remember or enjoy the times you're having.

I've not really drunk at a party for a good three months now. I attend them still, but I tend to drink bottled water and watch out for people while there.

It earns respect from those around me and saves lives when I play the sober driver. That and I get to enjoy all the fun of one of those parties and have my wits about me if a fight breaks out. ;)

As for actual alcoholic beverages. I hate hard liquor.

I prefer wine or the standard beer. Hard liquor, especially shots are just nasty.

nike13 12-12-2007 08:11 PM

@Gabriel
If I went to parties during high school, I'd probably end up being the designated driver and look out for my friends and others there. You definitely deserve the respect for being a responsible person and watching out for those around you.

Most people don't these days except for bartenders and people like me. It doesn't even really matter to most people--although it's good to understand exactly what goes into your drink and how to tell how alcoholic it is!

Something like a Cosmo that is vodka, cointreau, lime juice and cranberry juice isn't quite as strong as a real martini that is vodka or gin and vermouth, but it's sweeter and easier to drink so you'll drink it faster.

A Long Island Iced Tea, on the other hand, which is vodka, tequila, gin, light rum, triple sec (or cointreau), lemon juice and a splash of cola for color, is both sweet and easy to sip and because of all of the different alcohols in it will put you over the legal limit with one drink!

Honestly I have had a few drinking experiences. I’m 17 and my parents let me drink as long as there is some moderation by adults. When I go camping with my dad he always hands me drinks (hard stuff) but I’m a sweety-fruity-girldrink drinker and so I just have the Smirnoff or other light drinks. The one or two times I drank with friends it only took about 3 lighter drinks to get me to a pretty relaxed, hyped up social state (It depends a lot on the energy of the group I’m with, I was with crazy partiers….) and I ended up flashing people and being very touchy feeley (very against my normal ways….)
Well now I know better and I don’t drink. My boyfriend wont drink (even thou he is almost of legal drinking age) and he already told me if I showed up drunk he would just make me go to bed and make sure I was ok but to ignore anything else I did…..
So ya. XP I learned drinking is not something I should do, I am such a people pleaser I could easily see myself doing things I regretted later if I were to have “one too many”.

Nismo-Fik 12-12-2007 08:22 PM

Well, I do drink, and I've never been fully drunk, not because I don't want to be, but because I can hold my alcohol. I usually drink hard liquor. Vodka apple martini's are my favorite. But i'll drink others like JD, or JC.

Titenya 12-12-2007 08:37 PM

I have been drunk 3 times in my lift, but I can't really talk about them. One is too emotional, the other two, I don't remember much.

me i like the hard stuff... glennlevit, jim beam, and of corse Captin Morgan

Berginyon 12-12-2007 10:46 PM

I like tequila... a little too much. lol

I can't remember a great deal of what happened on my bro's 21st, but when I woke up I was wet, cold wearing someone else's shirt, and had me a nasty hangover.

I only found out later that I had hurled over the edge of the walkway and then passed out on it. Of course, that was AFTER I ended up in the lake...

I can't stand the concept of getting drunk.
I am, as you put it, a control freak. XD I can't stand when I can't focus. Be it because I'm sleepy, or just had too much caffeine. And being giggly or slap-happy annoys me too.
So basically, getting drunk would be combining two things that I hate. D: So I don't plan on drinking.
Luckily, my boyfriend views things the same way.
And I've never drunk alcohol. Beer smells HORRIBLE, so I can't imagine ever drinking it. Wine smells okay, but... blech. I'll just eat a grape.

I do like Long Islands, my friend mixes them really well. Those drinks are good, but you're right, they seem to sneak up on you because of the sweet taste but she did warn me to take it slow and only have one until I get used to them. She makes them for her parents on holidays ^_^

memarcus 12-14-2007 10:49 AM

i've never gotten drunk. i know my limit. i definitely drank alcohol before i reached my legal age. i don't understand why people want to get drunk. you wind up doing stupid crap you would never do when you were sober, and then you feel worse later. yeah, bad mentality.

i don't exactly have a favorite drink, but i like flavored drinks. so, i definitely prefer mixed drinks, but i can take liquor straight too. i'm not a fan of beer, but i do drink it on social occasions. maybe daiquiris, bahama mamas, margaritas, or kahlua and cream may be classified as my favorites. and a refreshing glass of wine is great too.
