Facebook
I saw a MySpace thread, so I decided to make a Facebook thread.
Anyone got one? I think of Facebook as the REAL online community. Myspace is just too fake, too unreal. I know it's confusing but those who have Facebook would understand. Any comments? Thoughts? |
Edit.
|
I have a Facebook but I don't use it that often. Most of my friends are on MySpace. I just keep it so that I can keep in contact with the friends who are on it instead of MySpace.
Edit: c0th, I read about how Facebook doesn't delete your data too. There was also something about how you need to watch out what photos you post of yourself because apparently after you submit them Facebook owns them and can do whatever they want with them. I'm not certain on the details though. |
Edit.
|
Are you serious? They keep everything?! UGH! My friends will post pictures of me even though I ask them not to.
I have a facebook account...and it bores the living daylights out of me. I'll keep in contact by email or AIM or MSN messenger, thanks. I cringe at all of the random friend and the application requests. It's such a stalking mechanism too...It's pretty much how my stalker knew so much about me. *cringes* I didn't even post a lot of things - he just managed to talk to all my "friends" who thought it was HILARIOUS I was being stalked. I absolutely hate that I can't delete my account. :< *rolls eyes* |
Yeah, I have a Facebook account, and I go on the site quite often, but it terrifies me. o_o I think of how much information I've found on random people in my school just because I was bored and clicking around and I'm like, "What if someone who was actually determined to find this crap was searching?" It's scary.
But nonetheless, I like having the ability to connect with people I haven't talked to in a while. It's a lot easier online because it's so... relaxed, I guess. P: Also, my friends and I use it to share our stupid pictures and all that. Authorities have been using Facebook as a way to track like under-aged drinking and parties and stuff, as well. P: |
You guys should read the Terms of Service of Facebook before jumping to conclusions. :?
|
Edit.
|
I joined Facebook years ago. The Terms of Service isn't exactly something that stays on my mind 24/7.
Plus, I wasn't too keen on what people actually do on sites like MySpace and Facebook since I never had an account with any networking sites. *stabs at "friends"* I personally liked Facebook before it opened up to high school students and everyone. Doesn't quite feel so safe anymore. :< |
-revives thread-
Well, I love Facebook. It's like a gossip central. :P |
I never did get a myspace. All that stuff is just a little too creepy for me, thanks.
But my first college roommage basically got a facebook for me, so I used it for a while. :'D I have to admit it was pretty great when it started out, and I actually used it unlike all those other profile/journal communities I've ever joined. However, it's just gotten really annoying. With all the new applications and stalker friendly features, I never use facebook anymore. I have NO applications, and I hate logging in to find out I've been bitten by a vampire twenty seven thousand times. xD' It's just too stupid now... :"D At least it was fun while it lasted~ |
you should all join the menewsha group on facebook :P

I joined facebook back in college when my roommates literally forced me to make an account XD
There were only five or six universities on there back then. You had to be attending one of them and have a .edu email to verify. I forgot about it for three years and then one day my boyfriend told me to sign up. I remembered that I already had an account. It's changed so much. All these crazy applications and such @[email protected] |
ok if you insist
Facebook is government wise 2 see what teens are doing online and they caught tons of kids that deal drugs so basically facebook is just there 2 catch bad kids ._. |
i agree. facebook is a LOT less creepy. but it can also be dangerous for jobs and internships and such. as some may say, facebook is like an extension of your resume.. so be careful!

I hate it when that happens. xD Quote:
Just because the government or any kind of law enforcement can indeed catch bad people through Facebook just by looking at photos (doing something illegal) or possible threats through mail/wall doesn't mean Facebook is government wise. Relax, Mars. :) |
I go on the internet to get away from all of the people IRL. I'm not going to start talking to them online...
I see the world as two separate places. The internet, and the non-internet. On the non-internet, you're with the same people that hate you all of the time, and if you don't like them, or mess up and are mean to them, too bad. On the internet, if you don't like people you can just find another website. And I don't have any friends to look at my Facebook if I had one, so it would be pointless. |

I have both a myspace and a facebook account. I prefer facebook most definitely. It's a little easier to work with and since you can't really change it, I don't have to do any coding ^^: But the application invites can be annoying at times ^^;
It's the only site that also has all my high school friends on it (even if some of them don't go on that often). It is an easy way to keep in touch with all of them ^^ |
