Carefully, Flare guided the young mother and child to his room to stay for the time being. He knew it would only delay the conflict coming up. What he would do to a Tribe's member to stop Emma from being taken was beyond him. He sat near her and kept guard on the door, stressing over the situation.
Emma set Enver down to play once he'd calmed down, still carrying his toy and blanket, keeping him on the bed, knowing he wouldn't venture off it. With Flare sitting near her, she gently searched for his arm, sliding her hand down it when she'd found it to touch his hand, rubbing over it a bit. "Don't worry..." She said gently, trying to offer him a smile, though she didn't know if he was looking at her or not.
Flare looked at her, wondering how he could not worry. Her child's father was demanding to take them away. Away to the exact people he knew posed a great threat. His hand closed upon hers.
Emma smiled a bit more as she felt Flare's hand close around hers and she gave it a gentle squeeze, listening still to Enver play while she paid attention to where Tavri was, able to feel him in the room still, hoping he'd stay there. She knew eventually he'd come looking for her and Enver if they didn't return, but she wished she could just hide away and he'd go on his own. She knew that wouldn't happen. He'd wait until she couldn't hide any longer, or until he figured out where she'd gone, and he'd try to take them away anyway. It worried her, but she didn't want to show that worry to Flare, knowing he'd stress over it himself enough for the both of them.
After growing tired of watching the doorway for the Tavri who did not produce himself, Flare turned to little Enver and began to play with him. He had already befriended the taunting Danny. Now this little fellow was his next challenge.
Emma smiled as she heard Flare begin to play with Enver, and the boy reacted happily to the attention. "It sounds like he likes you." She commented with a small yawn, reaching to run her fingers through Enver's pretty, white-looking hair while the boy interacted with Flare, making excited noises as he moved to crawl on Flare. She could feel how much her child had grown over the weeks and she had to admit she was a bit sad she'd missed out on some of it, but she was back now.
Flare picked up Enver, letting him rest on his lap. It was another experience to actually hold a child. He had watched Danny and Enver, and now he could touch them. It was a curious experience watching the baby wiggle and make noise, even drooling some on him. Once his finger was caught by the curious mouth, he looked around awkwardly, wondering if he was going to get it back anytime soon.
Enver didn't let go right away, his little teeth that had begun growing in pressing into the skin gently, still teething. Emma could hear his muffled noises and imagined her boy had gotten hold of something he shouldn't have.
She was going to say something, but footsteps finally came, the person obviously agitated by the weight of his steps. Emma slowly stood up, knowing it was Tavri, and she couldn't avoid the confrontation forever. "Watch Enver, please?" She trusted Flare would take care of her son, and if she didn't have him, Tavri couldn't just drag them away. |
Flare provided his silent nod and continued to let Enver abuse him. He petted the child's head and listened to anything he could from the hallway. The child would keep him from immediately reacting if things became heated.
Their words were quiet as they spoke in the hall, Tavri trying hard to convince her to bring Enver and go back to the stone city. The longer she refused him, the more irate he became again and his voice started to raise.
"I'm not leaving without you and Enver!" "Then I guess you're not leaving." Emma was trying to keep her voice down, she didn't want to make a big scene in the hall, it was already big enough as it was. It didn't take long for their argument to escalate, yelling at each other in the Tribe's native tongue, and suddenly it all went silent after a smack and a thud as Tavri suddenly back handed her hard enough to send her to the ground. "Emma-" Tavri knelt down to help her back up, realizing how out of hand his temper had gotten, but she shoved and kicked him away. "Don't touch me!" She hissed out at him, gripping her reddening cheek. |
Flare, finally freed of Enver's hold, jumped to his feet as he heard what was going on outside the room. The yellings had escalated and now there was the thud. What should he do? He was torn between leaving the baby alone to intervene and staying to make sure he couldn't be snatched up. Feeling as if Emma would want him watching her most prized possession, he picked up the baby and waited.
Emma shoved him away and Tavri stood and straightened himself a bit as he huffed in frustration. "I didn't mean to-" "Just go, Tavri. Get the hell out of here. We aren't going with you."
The man didn't want to take that for an answer, but staying wuldnt' be a good idea after striking the girl. Emma started to pick herself up as she heard him walking away with a mumbled apology, holding her cheek still and her other hand grasped out in search for the wall to get a steady hold onto something, a little startled. |
When Emma came into view, Flare rose and handed the child to her. Once the baby was out of his arms, he looked down the hallway to see what had become of Tavri.
Emma took hold of her child and let Enver cling to her. Tavri had stormed off down the hall to cool off, not returning to the bedroom right away. The girl gave a sigh as she stood there with Enver, the boy wiggling agianst her hold, resting her head against the boy's head of curly white hair.
Flare pursued the man to observe him, unsure of what he may do next. He stayed a good distance away, his steps as silent as his voice.
Tavri didn't leave, finding a place to sit after a while and he buried his face in his hands, pushing them through his blond hair, giving a frustrated groan.
Left alone, Emma lingered with Enver before deciding to return to her room, following the wall that was becoming quite familiar until she found the bedroom. The bags were on the floor and she stumbled onto one, finding her way to the bed to lay down with the small boy, letting him play with his toy still. |
Flare felt as if he would be of no threat to Emma currently. Retreating to his room, he laid down upon his bed, wondering what indeed he would do if the man had been one. Without his fire, he would have to rely on physical strength.
When things quieted down and Emma and Enver were asleep in their room, Tavri returned. The girl didn't get a chance to make a sound before Tavri quieted her and pulled her to her feet, making sure she had Enver in her arms and the child was wrapped up witha blanket and still holding his toy.
"You're coming with me and we're going to the city." He hissed out, overpowering her as she tried to struggle, pushing a small vial to her lips and forcing her to drink the contents. She struggled until everything felt like it was phasing out, disorienting her enough for the man to pick her up and take her and the child to the mount he had waiting outside, any of their belongings now packed onto the horse. He made sure the child was secured against Emma with the carrier before he got the woozy girl on and mounted behind her. One strong arm held her up and the other grasped the reigns as he got them out of there, heading out for the Tribe's hidden city. Should anyone go to the room, they'd find the bed unmade but everything and the occupants missing, a small, empty vial and cork on the floor from the sedative he'd used on the blind girl. |
Flare picked up the vial in the morning, rolling it between his fingers. It was the only thing he found in the entire room. He had already sifted through the sheets after observing that it looked like a small struggle.
Danielle came in, speechless by the sight. Her intent was to lead Emma to breakfast, but now it would be to inform the others that she and the child were both missing. |
Emma had fallen asleep from the sedative, allowing Tavri to ride without worrying about Emma struggling against him. They'd make it to the city within the next day or so, but he knew she wouldn't sleep the entire time.
And she didn't. they'd gotten quite a ways away from Caer Elise, but she was now yelling at him for taking them away like that and to put them down from the horse. Granted, she didn't know where she was or how she'd get back, doubtful she'd be safe traveling with a small child, blind in an unknown area. Tavri ignored her, only stopping when it was obvious their mount was growing tired and Enver had become hungry and needed to be taken care of and to stretch his legs out in the grass. She'd finally stopped yelling at him, unable to keep it up, knowing it'd do her no good. They didn't rest all that long, letting the horse graze and drink for a couple of hours before he readied them again and took off once more toward the hidden city Emma had become far too familiar with. She feared they would take Enver away from her, the happy little child already branded as a member of the tribe, though he had yet to display any of his elemental magic yet. |
Not long after their rest stop, Tavri spotted a figure in the distance. From the disheveled look, he looked harmless. He moved not from the path he was traveling and continued on, expecting to pass him in a few minutes at their pace. But as the being neared, it stopped and allowed them to approach him. Head tilting some, it watched quietly.
Tavri continued down the path as he saw something, or someone he supposed, ahead. He was a bit surprised that as he approached, the figure stopped and just watched. There was space to pass, but he felt a little uncomfortable, moving to continue riding passed him without a single word, holding Emma and the child closer.
"Oi!" the stranger called out. A small smile crossed his face.
"It's been awhile, Emma!" |
Emma was surprised to hear someone call out to her and her hands grabbed the reigns when her captor showed no sign of stopping the horse, doing so for him and struggling to try and get free of Tavri's hold with no luck.
"Denzell?" She called back, finding the voice familiar, but it'd been quite a while and without her sight, she couldn't confirm. Tavri tried to gain control back of the horse, struggling to get her to let go of the reigns, obviously becoming frustrated with her. "Emma! Let go, you stubborn woman. We don't have time for this." |
Denzell pursued them, moving closer swiftly with how the horse was confused and struggling from one direction to the next. He laid a hand upon its rump, calming it and causing it to stay still despite the reins being pulled from one direction to another.
"My my my," he mused, "This doesn't look like a nice situation." |
