Emma struggled a bit with Tavri still, Enver becoming upset with the commotion, though he quieted faintly as the horse stopped flailing about in confusion. "It's not! He kidnapped us in our sleep, I told him I wouldn't go with him!"
Tavri was only growing more and more irritated, turning his gaze to Denzell with an annoyed sneer. "This is none of your business." |
"Ah ah...it's m'business now since she's my friend." He stepped forth, grasping the man's wrist, applying just enough pressure to free his hold of her. Before he would be able to respond, Denzell's hand struck the backside of the horse. Emma would tumble off, no longer restrained or kept safe by Tavri's hold. Denzell stepped forward, catching her and the child in her arms and backed away swiftly as the horse raced forward.
Wind whipped through Denzell's silver hair and calmed once the horseback figure began to rage forth, disappearing into the distance. He set her down and produced his calm smile. |
Emma gasped as she was released and suddenly toppled from the horse as it was jolted into motion, holding Enver close in the carrier to make sure she had him safe as they fell. She was relieved when Denzell caught them.
"You're alive! I... Denzell, I thought for sure they'd killed you." She fingered the ring he'd gifted her back then, she still wore it all the time, she didn't think it'd ever left her slender finger. Enver cried, confused and scared because he didn't understand what had just gone on. Emma shifted to comfort him, rubbing his side and back a bit as she fished his toy from the blanket to give it to him to chew on. |
Denzell chuckled lightly. "Ah, m'alive. Another life down, I suppose," he said, rubbing his neck nervously. The child had frightened him some for he had little experience with them.
"Is he alright?" |
"He's just startled. He'll calm down now that he's got his toy." She smiled a bit, sighing out gently. "Thanks for helping, Denzell, I wasn't sure what I was going to do if he got me to that city again." She frowned and brushed her fingers through the boy's hair.
"Where have you been? I've missed you." |
Denzell watched her with the baby quietly. After the minutes passed, it would seem as if he wasn't going to answer her question. But finally, as if he was sated by the baby's calmness, he spoke.
"M'not sure...I just woke up on a mossy rock in the middle of a lake. I stopped bleeding, thankfully," he said. "I stayed there at the forest by the lake for a long time, just building up strength." He then stopped speaking, staring off to the distant skies, lost in thought. |
Emma didn't like his silence much, but she tried not to be so pushy. When he finally spoke, she tipped her head while she listened, disppointed when he didn't continue on with his tale. "Denzell? Are you alright?" She blindly reached a hand out to touch him. She remembered how constantly he would drift off into thought, but now that she could not see him, the silence he offered unnerved her.

After a good while, he turned to her and touched her arm briefly. "Where are you headed?"

"I need to go back to Caer Elise..." She replied, sure she'd have worried a few people at least.

He nodded. He was unsure if he would be welcome into the castle, but he knew the least he could do was take her there. "Alright, then this way." Slowly he lead her back.
"What...happened to your eyes?" he finally asked, approaching the question as if it were deadly. |
Emma gripped his hand quietly as he lead her along back from where she'd come from. The question took her a while to answer, chewing on her lower lip a bit as she thought about it. "I had to give them up." She replied slowly.

"I...don't understand. I come back and you're blind and with a baby."

"A lot's happened while you were gone, Denzell... I tried to become Theodore again after you disappeared, but it didn't work, I was only normal for a night. I ran into Tavri again after that and things just kind of just... went from there. I didn't find out I was pregnant until after we'd continued traveling." She stopped there though and frowned a bit. A lot had really happened, she gave Denzell's hand a gentle squeeze.

"Ah...so he's the baby's father. M'feeling a bit bad for sending him off like that."
Denzell looked off distantly once more, realizing that while little had happened to him, the world progressed at such a rapid pace. "What's his name?" |
"Don't--Only trouble would have come from him staying around." Emma smiled faintly as she heard him ask about the child's name. "Enver." She replied.

"It didn't quite look like you got along with him. Poor Enver...does this mean he shall be fatherless?"
Denzell was unsure why that thought brought a deep, sudden ache. |
"Yes." Emma nodded quietly as she held the mumbling boy close while he chewed and sucked at his toy and blanket, grabbing her hair from time to time. "But... I'm sure he'll never be without a male figure in his life." She chuckled faintly.

Another long pause proceeded his next series of questions. "So the sacrifice was for Enver?"

"No.... not for Enver. I gave my eyes to free Aidan from the falcon."

Denzell looked slightly confused. "From the falcon..." his voice drifted off. "So how is he?"

"Mute, unfortunately. I've been reassured he's alright, but we have an unfortunate communication barrier now."

"How sad," he said with a heavy shake of the head. "Things aren't quite working well for you, is it?"

"Not really. But I'm glad to have run into you." She smiled, though she didn't think he was looking at her to see it. She was happy to hear that familiar voice.

He smiled warmly, though she could not see it. "Tell me when you're tired, and we'll stop somewhere to rest." To himself, he murmured, "M'getting hungry."

Emma nodded quietly, and after a while, she mentioned wanting to rest soon, growing tired and she could tell that Enver was hungry, the child becoming fussy. "I need to rest and eat, Denzell, and feed Enver."
