"Ah... Alright." Theodore smiled and let him guide him inside, quiet for a moment. "I feel bad... with Aidan taking care of me like he does. I feel like.. such a burden to him, even if he tells me I'm not. It's just... he's done a lot for me, and I haven't done anything for him but cause trouble. I suppose... If I really wanted to be any help to him, I'd go back home so he didn't have me to worry over." He sighed, pushing his lips into a tender pout a moment before giving a little gasp and his freckled, pale cheeks flushed a bit. "Ah... I'm sorry. I suppose I needed someone to confide in... I shouldn't ramble at you." He said nervously, he was used to having his brother, Sloane to confide in.
|
Tobias patted him gently. "There's no harm in talking to me about it." He stopped at the door. "Aidan wants to take care of you. Our lives are meant to be of a service towards others. If not you, it would be someone else."
The mage looked at the boy with a more solemn expression. "I wouldn't remove yourself from his life just yet...He received a bad fortune recently...and for all we know, he may not be with us for long." |
Theodore stopped with him and he furrowed his brow as he looked up at Tobias, silent for a moment. "What.. what do you mean? What kind of bad fortune...?" He looked afraid to lose Aidan. He'd be gone? Going home didn't sound so bad when he knew that Aidan was somewhere out there and he might run across him again someday, but not if he was leaving because Aidan wasn't there to be with.
|
"The Oracles were vague. But one thing was clear - he was going to be betrayed. I'm pretty sure that's why he left Caer Elise before."
Tobias felt through his hair. He was aware of some of the jokes passed around by the other mages about replacing Aidan as soon as possible so their team would be complete. Any of their comments could be interpreted as double-crossing. |
"Oh god.." He whispered, frowning. If he hadn't been hurt when they left, would they have gone somewhere else? Or would Aidan have brought him here to see it even if he'd been well? He felt the tears streak down his face as he looked down, reaching to rub them away quietly. He looked horrible, feeling a bit sick to his stomach but he swallowed the feeling silently, sighing softly.
|
Tobias helped dry up some of the tears.
"Don't worry yourself. Omens are not correct all the time." He patted the boy's head. "You should smile. You have a nice one, and Aidan would like to see it." |
Theodore looked up at Tobias as his tears were dried by him as well, calming down a bit. "I-I.. ah.. Thanks, Tobias.." he whispered, rubbing his arm softly as he looked down a moment longer. He finally looked up, a very gentle, warm smile on his scarred face. He was sad, but he'd smile... it it was what Aidan wanted, he'd smile for him.
|
Tobias smiled, one of his rare expressions, and nodded at the boy. "If you need anything, I'm down the hall." He patted his arm once more before heading to his room.
|
Theodore was close enough to see Tobias smile, only making him smile a bit more. "Alright." He replied gently, watching a moment as the man headed down to his own room, slowly heading into the room to find Aidan. He was quiet, afraid he might wake Aidan if he was still sleeping, noticing Sloane in the corner, mewling at him now. "Sloane?" He whispered, kneeling down to call the kitten over, the furball running right to him and into his arms. "What is it, Sloane?" He murmured softly, furrowing his brow.
|
Aidan woke up.
Still...feeling odd. There was a weight on him. Two? Expecting it to be Sloane, he let it be. A tangle of hair rolling down his face, almost creeping him out. What...? His eyes turned towards Theodore. "Theo?" And his voice squeaked... |
"A..Aidan?" Theodore murmured in reply, looking towards him. He couldn't see well enough to know what had happened, tipping his head to the side a bit. He stood slowly and approached the bed, letting go of Sloane when he made a fuss and ran back for the corner.
|
Aidan felt through his hair, noticing the length. "What..." His arm hit something soft, and he felt it.
"What the hell...is going on?" His voice wavered. And he screamed. He was not himself. There was something in the water after all! |
THe scream was enough to do it, and Theodore jumped, startled. He squinted and he stumbled back--that wasn't Aidan. It didn't look like him. The boy gasped and gave a small yelp as he fell, scampered up and ran out of the room again, scooping Sloane up on the way.
What way again? He dashed after the way Tobias had gone, sliding to a stop at the man's door and he knocked at it, hastily. "T-Tobias!" |
Tobias opened the door. He had heard the scream and the pounding of feet. The mewing of a cat accompanied the boy's poundings.
"What's wrong?" |
"Somethings not right with Aidan!" He cried. "I-I can't see well enough--I don't know what it is--!"
|
"Wait here then," he said trying to calm the boy. "You can sit here with your pet." Tobias guided him to a chair in his room. Once he was seated, he hurried to Aidan's room.
His eyes fell upon the figure on the bed with surprise. It was a woman. He approached the bed cautiously. "What did you do with Aidan?" He eyed over the dark locks, almost wonder if it was Danielle. "What do you mean, what did I do with...me...Tobias??" She looked at him. His dark violet eyes drifted down her neck. "What the hell is going on?" She grasped her hair, pulling at some of the length, almost expecting it to be a wig. "You're not Danielle." "Why would I be my sister?" Tobias looked at the girl again in the face. The tone of the frustration was quite familiar. "Oh god, Aidan..." And he laughed. |
Theodore sat there, calming Sloane down. He stayed there for a while, listening closely for noise--anything to say something bad was happening. He was shocked to ear... laughter? He assumed Tobias. Great, did the man think he was crazy? He set Sloane down and told him to stay put as he found his way out of the room and down the hall, using the wall as a guide. His sight was getting worse by the hour.
His fingers gently grasped the doorjam as he peeked in. "Wh-what happened?" |
Tobias beckoned the boy over. "Don't be afraid...it's Aidan."
"Don't say that," the fire mage said, aghast. Aidan pulled up the sheets and hugged himself. Or herself? "It appears you have been affected with some...magics." "Stop it, stop laughing at me," Aidan pouted. He was so embarrassed. "I don't know...I think you look pretty good in a dress and long hair," Tobias responded with a playful smirk. |
Theodore blinked and slowly slinked into the room until he was by Tobias, looking towards Aidan but he couldn't see the change clearly. It wasn't until Tobias mentioned long hair and a dress that his eye widened a little and he brought a hand up to muffle a laugh as well. He couldn't see the man, but the thought of it with how he remembered Aidan made him crack up.
|
Aidan rose, hugging himself. A blush spread over his cheeks when he pressed his chest close up against himself.
"Alright...I need to fix this...I shouldn't have drank that water," Aidan said, wrinkling his nose. Tobias leaned close to whisper into his ear, informing him of Theodore's rapid regression of his sight. Aidan's blue eyes widened. "I didn't...realize we had so little...time." Aidan looked at Theodore. "I guess we better head out." He started to pack up for the two of them. Tobias slipped his hands in his pockets. "I'll come along." |
Theodore blinked and he could hear the whispered words softly, pushing his lips in a pout. "T-Tobias!" He murmured, he wasn't supposed to tell him!
"Wh-what? -but.." He furrowed his brow a bit--would it really be worth the trouble? He couldn't see much... he didn't expect to be able to see by tomorrow morning either. He supposed arguing with them over it wouldn't do much good and he rubbed at his neck a little. A soft smile crossed his face again, he liked the idea of going out to see more though, even if it wouldn't be the same, and he did find it rather amusing that for the moment, Aidan was stuck as a girl! He wondered what something like that felt like? He knew what it was like to be mistaken for a girl, but never to actually be one! It made him giggle quietly to himself. |
Tobias rode behind the two upon his black stallion. Aidan kept his arms around Theodore, as he guided the mare. The fire mage blushed as he held the boy against him. What was with this body...? He was furious with whoever charmed the well water. Jerk.
"Where are we headed?" Aidan looked at Tobias. "Going to have a word with Jonah..." |
"Who?" Theodore tipped his head back a little to look at Aidan, blushing when his head pressed back against the man's newly acquired boobs.
|
Not wanting to worry the boy over the potential sacrifice he would make for him, he lied. "Jonah's just an old friend."
Tobias raised a brow at Aidan's comment. He was curious...curious as to what Aidan would give up to regain the boy's sight. Looking over his body, he could picture with a chuckle him giving up his femininity. |
THeodore pouted a bit but he didn't argue, looking around his blurry surroundings again. His body was relaxed against Aidan's, and he breathed out slowly. Something felt strange about this trip, but he didn't say anything. He supposed he'd trust Aidan.
