Theodore gasped as he took a tumble at the impact, grabbing at the man and he took him right down with him. "Kyaa!!" He groaned, holding his side a little from the impact, that wasn't kind on his body at all! Who were these people? Maybe he'd drank a bit too much and had lost his balance or something.
His pale face flushed over as he tried to push the man off of him, embarrassed by their new found position. |
"Sorry about that," the man said, more embarrassed that he couldn't prevent his loss of balance than the state he was on the ground. He was much more graceful than that, of course! he thought.
The man moved up from the ground and pulled the child up. "My girlfriend got a little rough, that's all." This made him receive a harsh whack on his pretty golden head. |
Theodore let him help him up, rubbing his ribs with a sigh before he started to dust himself off. "It's fine--" He winced as he saw out of the corner of his eye when the pretty boy took a good whack.
"Have you guys happened to've seen a strange man... about 25 and walking around like he's seeing the wonders of the world for the first time in a century?" He asked, looking from him to the woman, pursing his lips a moment--he was short still, having to look up to them both a bit. |
The man shook his head. "We just arrived," he said.
Aeros paid for the room, she WAS disappointed to hear there was only one left. She would make sure Elidion stayed outside with the horses in the stable... "Do you need assistance?" He assumed the child was a young female from what little he looked at "her." |
Theodore smiled softly and shook his head a bit. "No, I don't think I do. He's probably just gone out to look around." He mused softly to himself, rubbing his ribs again before letting his side go.
"Where've you traveled from, if I may ask?" He was curious.. their accents weren't familiar to him at all. As always, it sparked his interest. |
Elidion's eyes sparkled at the boy's interest in him. He was such a narcissistic guy that he grasped at any opportunity to talk about himself.
"The Northeast," he replied, fingering through his hair. "You have curiosities? Perhaps we can chat after you find your fellow." |
"Really?" Theodore smiled all the more, chewing on his lip a bit. He glanced toward the inn doors heading out, pondering for a moment to himself before he said anything to the man again.
"I trust he'll find his way back, let him wander. I'll look for him later if he doesn't return." He chuckled, pulling his hair over his shoulder to play with some of the curls as he looked up at Elidion. "We could chat now if you're not busy?" |
Elidion watched his partner take off up the stairs to her room. "Now is fine," he said with a chuckle. Walking over to the tables in the general area, he had a seat.
"My name is Elidion." |
Theodore followed him and seated himself across from him at the table. "Elidion? Interesting.. My name's Theodore." He leaned on the table a little bit. "Where are you guys headed? My brother, friend and I are heading home..."
He was glad to be almost home--he missed his father so much. He hoped trouble didn't find him though, it seemed like he had no luck when it came to that. |
"Where is home for you?" Elidion asked. He smirked, excited to make his destination as mysterious as possible. He kept his response short with just the name.
"Verboten Eau." |
"Ver... Verboten Eau? Where's.. ah.. Oh--sorry, I'm from a nameless town not far from here." He replied, leaning his chin on his palm as he leaned on the table, watching the golden haired man curiously. He was so curious he'd almost forgotten to tell him where home was for him, rubbing the back of his neck a little with his free hand and smiling even more.
|
"It's southwest from here." To add to the mystical quality of the already mysterious area, he began to weave his story of Verboten Eau.
"Many have been drawn to see this place for themselves. To those who have and returned, they bring back mementos not produced by people like you and me. Shells, pearls, and coral are but a few of the media used by the craftsmen there. The place itself is a wonder! Explorers say that the waters are golden. The area is completely underground. It's a challenge to go to Verboten Eau. For some reason...some just don't come back." |
"Really?" Theodore looked so fascinated--amazed. He wanted to go too, but... Tobias probably wouldn't be able to take him, and Aidan wasn't around. Tobias probably wouldn't even allow it if it's as hard to get to it as Elidion made it out to be. But the curiousity was there, obvious in his expression. "Why're you going there?" HE inquired, leaning back in his seat when he realized he'd gotten excited and leaned forward a bit.
|
"There's an artifact in the center of Verboten Eau. Something so valuable the ancient civilization put so many charms about it. With it, my dear Aeros and I can complete our mission of awakening `Him.'"
|
"...'Him'?" Theodore looked utterly lost now. He tilted his head slowly to the side, twirling some of his hair absently. These people just became more and more interesting by the minute!
|
Elidion nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, Him!" The ancient spirit...I think." He tilted his head thoughtfully when in actually, nothing passed through it for that moment.
"So where did you come from, Theodore? You said you are returning home." |
"A-ah.. I see." He blinked a few times as he watched him, raising his brow. He wasn't sure what to say about that, glad when the subject was changed.
"Ah.. Caer Elise." He replied, smiling softly still. |
"Really? How exciting. I'd like to detour there for awhile, but my lady won't allow it. Tell me, Theodore, what was it like?" Elidion leaned on the table this time, grinning.
|
Theodore blinked and sighed a little. "Well... I wouldn't really know, I have been there for a while, but when I arrived, I was nearly blind and on my death bed. However... the entertainment--what I've seen of it--seems to be up to par of what the tales say.
"Of course... I spent a lot of time in the dungeon." He mused, rubbing his cheek a bit. "Or with the mages." That was the truth--if he wasn't with Aidan or Tobias, he'd been locked up in the dungeon! He hadn't gotten a chance to venture out and see what more there was to Caer Elise. "I met 'my fellow' there however. Denzell... is a strange one, quite fascinating." |
Elidion stared at him. "You don't say...But your eyes look perfectly fine. Death bed, you say? But you look of somewhat good health." He was curious how this child recovered such dire circumstances so easily!
"My my, what did you do to deserve time in the dungeon?" |
Theodore smiled and leaned on the table again. "I had a very good friend who gave up... well, everything to make me better." He replied, casting his gaze aside a moment.
Those eyes returned to look at Elidion and he chewed on his lower lip a bit. "I.. hmm, The first time, I threw my shoe at the Crown Prince, and the second time, I tried to set him on fire." He replied casually, like it was no big deal. |
"That is a massive sacrifice," murmured Elidion. As he listened to the boy's actions against the prince, he had to chuckle.
"The Crowned Prince himself? Do you have a death wish, child?" He mused over the thought. "How did you even get the opportunity to use fire on the boy?" |
"Well... hm, I don't know. I just did. He was in the garden and I was able to walk right up to him--he was alone, after all." He chuckled a little. "We were arguing, he's sending someone I care about to.. well, to certain death." He lowered his head a little. "He made me mad and I just lashed out--It didn't even sear him though, he took me down first."
The boy pulled his shirt up a bit to show the bruising on his ribs. |
Elidion patted him on the head. "Are you a fire wielder?" he asked, curious more iwth someone who had the balls to attack royalty.
|
Theodore smiled and nodded a bit. "Yes, I am." He brought his hands down between them a moment and let the flame flicker alive in a small, rolling ball in his cupped hands. "My friend who helped me.. he was too."
