Cooking and baking
I love to cook and bake. It's very fun, espcially when people like what you have made ^^ I make most of the things I cook and bake out of scratch.
I'm personally good at baking, more so than cooking. Baking is fun, plus almost anything you can bake is yummy ^^. My favorite things to cook are spheghetti, and also enchilada cassorole. ^^ My favorite things to bake are any kinds of cookies, mostly sugar cookies. I also like baking garlic biscuits, and blueberry coffee cake. Overall..My favorite meal is speghetti, with lots of cheese on it, with garlic bread, and for dessert, some fruit ^^ No one has really ever cooked for me, other than family..but I think I would like it. ^^ Things to discuss: 1. Do you like to cook/bake? 2. Which are you better at, cooking or baking? 3. What do you like to cook? 4.What do you like to bake? 5. What's your favorite meal? 6. Do you like it when others make something for you? |
I always loved to bake.
Cakes,cookies,pastries. But I was never good at it. More or so now I like to cook. I like making homemade pizza or breads. Mostly because I like to roll dough and get my hands into the flour. :lol: <3 I also like grilling. Especially ribs. Yummy. With lots of sauce. It would be more likely though that I'd warm something up or call in something then cook. XD; |
I wish I could be able to cook.
I've always wanted to experiment with stuff and find something tasty. I once tried making some kind of bread squares when I cut bread into squares, covered them is a little butter and putting them in the stove until they got crispy. They didn't come out as well as I hoped.. |
Re: Cooking and baking
Garlic cheese bread is one of the best things ever invented, EVER.
I like cooking, but I LOVE baking! n__n Whenever my friend Lizz is over, we bake a lot xD We love discovering recipes and trying them out at my house :B I'm a fairly good cook, but I'm a much, much better baker. xD; All of my baking accidents tend to turn out really well, in the end :B Except for one disastrous batch of gingersnaps Lizz and I tried to make... but we don't talk about that. >>; One of our joint aspirations is to open up a café, so I really like to experiment with things that we could theoretically serve there. n_n; It's superfun. My current favourite thing isn't... really cooking or baking P: It's hot chocolate, but made from like... Aero bars and stuff. I also love making ice hot chocolate smoothies. I'm a smoothie addict, I couldn't SURVIVE without my blender. |
I LOVE to cook! Baking, cooking, it's all the same. I like making chicken etouffee (probably spelled wrong and I think I'm missing an accent mark, whatever I'm too lazy), spaghetti, and all sorts of baked goods. Just recently, I cooked my first Thanksgiving dinner all by myself. It wasn't completely perfect (the squash was a bit watery), but I enjoyed it and so did everyone else. I want to cook all the time when I get out on my own, so my husband better like my cooking.
You know what I hate, though? Making things out of a box. It feels like it wasn't even me who made it, and I don't get that good feeling when someone compliments it. Whenever someone says, "OMG THIS IS SO DELICIOUS! YOU DID A GOOD JOB!" I feel like, "Well thanks but all I did was put this stuff in a pan. :/" |
I don't really cook myself. I usually just cook all those "pre-cooked" meals rather than make food for myself. All I can really cook are breakfast foods and sandwiches. I'm pretty good its just my timing is always , so unless I have something that tells me how much time to do something I end up either burning or undercooking everything...mostly burning ^.^; Which makes it easy for me to appreciate when people cook for me. My favorite is thanksgiving/Christmas dinners, its during that time when my mom cooks everything good my brother and I like. Especially my favorite, red cabbage. *yum*

@Lolly
lol.. Ribs are good. I haven't had them in a very long time. I've made home made stuffed crust pizza. It was very fun ^^. @Steve the Garden hose Oh..That sucks.. Hopefully whoever you end up marrying can cook. Unless you're like me and can't marry due to the law of same gender marrying.. @Thestah I love garlic cheese bread ^^ I love making it. It's fun.. ^^ Those sound very yummy.. I don't know what an aero bar is though. I love smoothies! And milkshakes. I'm only good at making milkshakes though, lol. @Middie Wow..I hope one day I can make a full thanksgiving meal. I've only made green bean cassorole. I hope I can make yams with marshmellows, and all that good stuff^^ Lol.. I'm sure whoever you marry would like it...Maybe you and steve the garden hose could? lol joking..XD lol.. I also hate making things out of a box. It tastes better when you make something from scratch. I make cakes from a box though, because my mom won't let me make them from scratch. She says it's too hard. I've made fudge, cookies, and other things from scratch ^^ fudge is very yummy. |

I just started dabbling in baking a few months ago and I think its really fun ^^ I don't get a lot of opportunities to do either of them since my mom enjoys cooking and if she's not home my dad cooks (not sure if he likes it but I don't want to hurt his feelings by taking over).
I started baking partly because I wanted to see if I could do it. I made scones, cookies, and brownies for the Tea Club on my campus, figured it was the prime opportunity to test my abilities and have people who would willingly give my food a try (who on a college campus would pass up free cookies?). Worked out well, so now that its winter break, I'm going to give cooking a go, see if I can make anything really tasty. I follow recipes pretty exactly, which is probably not a good thing since it makes me very dependent on my cook books, but I think that as long as I try and the more I practice, the more I'll stop relying on the books and make my own meals. |
@TheSatah
Oh wow..That looks very yummy :shock: *now wants chocolate* @Gush Hm...That's probably most people's reasons for not cooking. You could learn to cook something simple, like speghetti, and make it for your girlfrien. I'm sure she'd be very impressed. ^^ @Reign You bake chicken? Well..I guess that is true if you make it in the oven *nods* @LoveHate I love brownies ^^, Pretzels are great.. my mom sometimes buy those big ones that come with the sugar. @Nike Oh, that's cool. Just remember this one tip, if a recipe asks for vanilla, always add a tiny bit more than it requires.. Sometimes things need modifying ^^ I cook a lot..but I can never remember the recipes, so I rely on cook books >_< For most things.. |

I love baking and cooking but I'm terrible at it >.<. I don;t know any recipe's either :(. |
@Kaze
Cool.. Lol.. You can probably find a lot on the net ^^ |
I can't cook or bake. xD Well, our oven didn't work well when I was younger and now it doesn't work at all, so I never bothered to learn. The only thing I cook is microwave meals. 8D But I loved baked goods... Namely, cupcakes. I like pasta and pizza the best. My boyfriend makes me pasta a lot. ^-^ |
@clockwork
Well.. It's good that he can cook then ^^ XD, good luck. Cup cakes are nice. I like cookies the best personally. |
@fuyumi
I noticed that vanilla thing too! That and the scone recipes I have don't ask for enough milk so I usually have to add more than the book says to get the right consistency in the dough. I was so proud of myself when I figured out why my scone dough was just powder ^__^ My mom and fiancee go by taste/smell when they cook, neither of them use a book which makes me feel a little silly ^^; |
@ Fuyumi - My main problem is that I forget about the food most of the time and it burns T_T

@Nike
Yeah..It's common knowledge amoung the baking obsessed community I think XD, lol.. I am not sure if I've ever made scones.. *blinks and thinks* It's possible... Wow... Your fiancee and mom must be magical @[email protected] I hope I'm that good oneday... @Kaze Lol.. I see... Maybe you should buy a timer? The small clock ones are cheap I think... @Karla I like fried chicken that comes out of the box personally lol >_< I love decorating cakes..it's fun.. I also love shrimp..I can't cook it though @[email protected] @Fox All baked goods and fried yummy foods are unhealthy..You just have to make sure you don't eat a lot so you can...make them all oneday and eat them..That way your weight goes down after a few days. |
I can cook. I'm usually just too lazy.
But when I AM willing to set aside a few hours of my evening, and I have the right supplies, I can whip up a pretty tasty bolognese sauce. I also enjoy making paninis with my foreman grill, although that probably doesn't count as cooking :D |

Grills are useful.. espcially, indoor ones...I don't know how to use outdoor ones..Indoor ones are easy >_< @Alaunt cookies, muffins, and coffee cake are all good ^^. lol.. I'm sure with enough practice, you can learn to cook better if you want to. |
