let's just say in regards to cooking and baking, i'm the queen of the microwave. all my cooking skills pretty much amount to being good at using the microwave.
i'm actually really good at cooking or baking if i want to be, but only if the food contains no meat whatsoever. for some reason, i cannot cook meat to save my life. either it winds up undercooked or overcooked, and very rarely and usually only with supervision does meat ever come out right when i cook it. i guess my cooking skills are trying to tell me to either eat out if i want meat in my diet, or become a vegetarian. so, unless if it's chicken soup, i cannot cook meat. i have many favorite meals, manly spicy, but my favorite meal to cook is breakfast food. waffles, pancakes, french toast, hot cereal, etc. mainly because i don't have to worry, once again, about cooking meat. i'm also really good at cooking desserts, mainly sugar cookies. i love when other people cook though. i can admire their skills and don't have to worry about poisoning them with my own terrible cooking. i tend to depend on other people cooking which is pretty much a bad thing. but i always make sure to give them some nicely made desserts to make up for their cooking hospitality. |

although some people don't like spicy food, so they might not like it.. but those who do, love it! ^^ |
I almost never cook or bake. I’m not very good at cooking so that’s reason enough for me to avoid it. Baking I’m pretty good at most of the time. I love baking cookies, especially peanut butter ones. I can’t cokk to save my life though. I mean, I burn noodles when I boil the water. Luckily my husband loves to cook.

I wish I could cook. But I'm pretty horrible at it. I can barely make cereal without doing something wrong. xD;
Seriously, everytime I make cereal, I always end up overflowing it with milk or something. It's pretty pathetic. So yea, it's cool that you can cook. My favorite meal... umm, I don't know, that's tough, because I usually eat out when I'm having an actual "meal." But my mom used to make fried rice and chicken tempura a lot, and I really liked that, so I guess that would be my favorite. And yes, I'd love it if someone made food for me. Well, as long as it was good lol. Otherwise, not so much. My grandmother makes food for me a lot, but not really whole meals. Just things like... minute rice and bacon. ...Is that a meal? |
I definitely like both cooking and baking, though I prefer baking since it doesn't require quite as much attention as cooking. I would say that I'm equally good at both.
There's a recipe for sautéed pork chops that I really like cooking. Stir-fries and fried rice are also fun - I enjoy cooking with a wok. As for baking . . . everything I've done, really. I particularly like breads and things that get kneaded; brownies are also fun because I get to use a double boiler to melt the chocolate and mix things up in, all though I suppose that is more of the cooking part than the baking. Overall, I love to try new things or experiment: right now there is a biscuit recipe that I am working on modifying a little bit to improve it. My favorite meal is probably either fried chicken or beef stew (both from very excellent recipes). I suppose I might like it if someone cooked something especially for me . . . usually, though, I'm there in the kitchen helping out. :D |
Gosh this topic is making my mouth water and I'm already starving.
I like cooking and baking... I just don't like the mess I have to clean up afterwards. Plus I'm so self-conscious that I only like to cook for myself fearing that others won't like what I cook. xD But I can make a mean grilled cheese sandwhich, way better than my moms and she loves it. I also learned how to fix blackened steak, and it rocked! Anyways my favorite things to cook are crab fettucini(sp?) and blackened catfish. I haven't really experimented much, but those are the 2 that I cook from scratch with loads of ingredients. Like making my own sauce and all that. I want to try to cook some chicken stir fry from scratch. Like buy the chicken breasts, cut them into cubes and all that. Then buy the vegetables and cook them, add some sauce. I haven't yet though, but I really want to try it. I also want to learn how to make some vegetable beef soup, my moms soup is amazing. As for baking, I love to bake brownies. Although baking cookies from scratch is a lot of fun too. I love when other people cook for me, I eat out all the time. xD |
I'm in a search to be good at the kitchen but when i cook something I feel that is never good enough x.x
And I don't exactly spend much time cooking... Only when my mother is hungry and doesn't no what to do.. That's when Livia appears to save the day and invent something to eat with everything that is in the house that is comestible |
Wow..A lot more people replied while I [email protected][email protected] I'll have to color code so people don't get too confused.
@Memarcus I like spicy things too...as long as they aren't too spicy. As for the meat thing..That's a bit..odd.. maybe get an indoor grill. You just need to keep your eye on the food.. @Sagitar Cool, a person that likes cooking better than baking. Homemade meatballs=the best ^^ @Mystic Kiwi Oh..I see.. Hmm.. peanut butter chocolate chip cookies are good. You should try making those. Just make peanut butter cookies and add the chocolate chips ^^ @V!rtual Insanity lol. That's funny. XD...I love fried rice...well..the kind that comes out of a box and you provide the chicken for.lol... I hardly ever eat out.. rice and bacon? That's an odd combo. @Moon Waltz Port chops are good. I haven't had them...since...probably over a year O_o.. Fried chicken is great ^^.. @Queen Nehalania lol.. I make grilled cheese better than my mom too. Her's turns out soggy for some reason >_< eww.. I love seafood. Shrimp, crab cakes, etc.. @Livia Oh, i see. lol.. That's good. I would like to invent an original meal.. I just have to think of it first. XD |
1. Do you like to cook/bake?
I like to bake xD I suck at cooking ^^; But it's really fun for me to bake, unless I end up eating half the dough (I mostly do cookies or cake :3 I'm a simple girl xD; ) -- and then I'm not hungry enough to eat anything afterwards xD;; 4.What do you like to bake? Mostly simple things like cookies and cake :3 A few years ago, I would help make bread xD; It's not my favorite though :3 I like making... Those refridgerator cookies that you make into cute shapes and put icing on!! <3 5. What's your favorite meal? Hmm :3 I dunno ^^; I really love Japanese food :3 I could go for a huge plate of sushi sometimes xD I also like stir fry :3 Chinese is yummy too ^__^ And I also love shrimp! ='D 6. Do you like it when others make something for you? Definitely -- Especially if I know it came from their heart ^__^ I love making things for people I love, too :3 There's somebody I'm gonna be making sweet things for this year <3 And I want to learn how to sew / knit so that I can make clothes or stuffed animals for my lovey next year :3 |
@Rainiy
Well.. I suppose baking is easier.. ^^ |
I like to cook, but I'm still learning how from my mom :p I've done some baking, but cooking is done on a regular basis so I'd much rather learn that and get good at it^^ I haven't really cooked too much on my own, I always get directions from her and she's watching me the whole time. It's also mostly appetizers and desserts, little stuff like that. I'm definitely not ready to cook with meat and such.
Hopefully I'll get good enough so I can cook myself yummy food all the time :3 |
1. Do you like to cook/bake?
I would love to learn... Especially pasta and Italian foods, I have a passion for them, but I'm too young to actually start cooking without my parent's permission... And I'm not confident, so I'll probably use up a bunch of the ingredients for waste. 2. Which are you better at, cooking or baking? Lol... is baking easier? 'Cause you just leave it in there and wait for it to finish, where in cooking in like a frying pan, you add ingredients as you cook and its more busy like. 3. What do you like to cook? The only thing I've really cooked was an omelet... nothing special. But like I said, I want to do Italian pasta! Put the raw noodles in boiling water. Toss the pasta and ingredients onto the frying pan. Sprinkle salt and pepper. Add onions, mushrooms, shrimps, and oysters. By then the noodles are finished. Rinse the water and dump the noodles onto the frying pan. Lower the heat and toss the pasta into the air a couple of times. Prepare the plates and get the tongs. Turn off the stove and carefully pick up as much pasta as you can with one squeeze of the tongs. Lower it onto the plate, and twist your wrist clockwise as you slowly let the spring on the tongs defeat you. Take a small towel and wipe away any dots of pasta that may have dripped onto the outer white space of the plate. Take a pinch of selected cut greens, green onions or parsely, and toss it in the middle of the dish. Decorate it with any complimentary sauce with a half halo of sauce on the outer edge. Basil or spruce leafs will top off the decorations by placing them leaf upright, and stem encrusted into the pasta. 4.What do you like to bake? Your mom. Lol just kidding, i like saying that sometimes. But brownies are gooood, i like brownies. 5. What's your favorite meal? I love basically all noodle-pasta dishes, but my favorite is Fettuccine. It's a ribbon shaped noodle that's absolutely delicious! Fettuccine Alfredo with Shrimp alla Clam is the best! 6. Do you like it when others make something for you? Mmmhmm! I can't cook, or know how, so yeah, I do like it when other people cook for me. |
@mynx
That's good. *nods* moms and grandmas know how to cook very well ^^ @Satomi I like pasta..Wah..How old are you? Not old enough to cook C_C That must be under 13 or something.. Baking is..yes..^^ Depending on whether or not you make it from scratch though.. I can't make omelettes...I don't really like eggs that much.. lol.. Anyway..Maybe one day you can become a good cook. ^^ |
I cook a lot as well. Baking, cooking, both, its kinda even. I usually cook full meals, main, side, desert all together is its hard to think of what I do more, and also what I'm better at.
I love to cook from scratch, well I like to because it tastes better, and personally cooking isn't a blast, its what you get from it. Though I spent the last two hours cooking a Mexican lasagna. Twas good. The cheese took forever. |
Wow..That sounds cool. I want to become a professional chef/baker one day.. ^^ *smiles*
Anyway, that's really cool that you do both.Cooking does take a while..but just like baking, it's usually worth it. I also usually bake from scratch ^^ and cook from scratch as well *nods* |
Chef? Coolness ^^.
Yeah my Dad's Dad, who is sadly dead owned his own bake shop. A wonderful baker in fact, and my Dad worked baking for a few years at the families bakery. So for baking I can luckily ask my Dad something xD. Yep, I try to do both. I enjoy fresh food. |
So, a lot of guys will not admit this but I will: I LOVE TO COOK AND BAKE! Like, looooovvveeeee it. Haha. At one point in time I wanted to be a chef, but now I am just going to settle as an investor of restaurants.
I am better at baking than cooking only because baking you just follow a bunch of instructions on what to do. With cooking you can always follow instructions but sometimes things aren't to your satisfactory so you have to keep playing around with the food until it is to you liking. Because baking, in my opinion, is easier, I am better at it. Being that I am vegetarian a lot of the stuff that I cook tend to be obviously, vegetables. Or something to do with them. I am a buyer of the faux meats, so a lot of the times I use them to make your regular everyday foods. The thing I probably use the most is my skillet and a George Foreman Grill. Yes, odd combination but they work for EVERYTHING. You can cook almost anything on either one, trust me. Totally random. Speaking of baking, my mother is in the kitchen making corn bread batter. I tend to leave those little packets of like, juice things. You know, you pore them into your water bottles and instantly it becomes juice? Well, my mom accidentally poured one for Peach Iced Tea into the batter. Hahahaha. How? It was sitting on top of the sugar container, and she took the lid off and held it over the batter, not knowing the packet was open. That should definitely been interesting to taste! |
@admonishedNonsense
Yeah ^^ My great grandpa sweetland was a baker. I never met him, nor did my mom. But yeah maybe it's a family thing....Hmm.. Fresh food is good food. @Clucktastic Well I'm sure a girl who can't cook at all will snatch you right up. lol. Most people are better at baking.. I don't eat much meat, but I'm not a vegetaria. Corn bread is alright, I like banana bread more.. |
I can't cook. At all. It's rather depressing. I've tried time and again to cook some dinner, and tried to bake cookies. They all came out over-cooked or burned. ;-;
I wish I could make cookies or brownies though. Then I could say "I made this, so it's mine." x] But my mom has to buy them, and my brother eats them all. ;-; I think the BEST is when your boyfriend brings your cookies. <3333 He's a GREAT cook. Which makes me feel bad, because the girls are supposed to be good at cooking, you know? But mmmm... xDD I luff his cookies. <3 |
You might just be trying to cook them too quickly? Try it with a lower oven setting over a longer space of time, maybe :P
|
1. Do you like to cook/bake?
Yes, on occasion I do like to cook and bake...I honestly don't think I'm very good at it but the results are so nice when you're created something right! lol 2. Which are you better at, cooking or baking? Hmmm...I would probably say cooking, only because I've done more cooking than baking...but I'm pretty good at those break off pre-made cookies lol. 3. What do you like to cook? ANYTHING! I just love to eat. >.< 4.What do you like to bake? Cookies are probably my favorite...and I like making the dough from scratch and then decorating the cookies and cutting them out with shapes. 5. What's your favorite meal? It depends on what kind of mood I'm in....when I was little my parents made me try everything at least once and because of that I pretty much love all kinds of foods and I will always try anything once....I don't care what it is, I think generally, good taste is universal. :) 6. Do you like it when others make something for you? YES! I love it so much when my boyfriend cooks for me...and I also love it when my mom cooks for me/the family because she is such an amazing chef we're trying to get her to write a book/open a store to sell her things. She really is that good. ^^ |
@winter wind
Oh wow..Maybe you should set a timer or something when you cook them... Also, maybe subtract a minute or something if you are timing it, because all ovens are different.. I think... well most.. No one's ever cooked for me other than family..I find that a bit sad... @Berginyon ...Lower oven..but wouldn't that make them more burnt? Wait..*thinks*....Not sure about that.but the best place to bake something is in the middle rack. @Majinkoz Practice makes perfect...which is a lie but you do get better with practice. Another person who's better at cooking..Still the minority though..Most people are better at baking it seems so far.. lol..Cookies are great... Hmm.. I would not try anything once. Mainly because there are some foods out there that can poison you..and theirs eyes and tongues and bugs that people sometimes eat... Sounds pretty gross to me >_< |
@Fuyumi - Oh my dingdong!!!! BANANA BREAD!!!
I haven't had that stuff in such a long time! Well, forth grade to be exact! I used to love eating that stuff at lunch time. Hahaha, that is soooo insane. I didn't even miss it until now. Now I really want some Banana Bread. Give me some!? Haha. Please!?!?! |
I like to cook and bake alot. I used to have my own little business of baking and decorating cakes for birthdays and parties, but when my son got a little bit older, I found I didnt have enough time to devote to doing it, but I would really like to start up again.
For Christmas time, I usually have a few people order homemade candy from me. The last couple of years, I've sold around 17 rolls of Peanut Butter Roll at every Christmas. That seems to be everyones favorite around here. |
I love baking. I don't know the English word, but I love making cookies, what we call 'Speculaas'.
I also love baking cakes. It's fun to do. XD |
