KT looked disgusted that Jade was - yet again! - the topic of their discussion.
"No, I don't want to know. If it involved me, you would've told me already." He rolled onto his back, still with a stubborn pout on his lips. It felt like no matter how many times he reeled Mateo's mind closer to him, it would get distracted by Jade again. Darn him! |
Mateo frowned. He hoped KT had wanted to know so he could get it off his chest. Opening up about his brothers with no persistant boy urging him on seemed like something so girly. "Fine then." He moved off the bed and headed back to the kitchen to get himself something to drink. Something strong.

That mood change displeased KT greatly. He popped up from the bed and bounded after him. "What the hell? What would Jade and your private make-out sessions and confessions involve me? Why do you have to rub in how great he is to you to me? Such a sadist..."

Mateo set the bottle of tequila down after pouring himself some in a crystal glass. "I'm more masochistic than sadistic. I'm seeing you after all. If that's not torture..." The rest of his sentence was lost when his lips touched the crystal as he drank.
KT walked over to him, taking the glass away from Mateo and tossing it to the sink. The crystal was underestimated for being slightly stronger than it actually was. It shattered on impact when it hit the steel inside of the sink. Mateo's eyebrow raised, while KT showed no remorse for his action. "You say you want to kiss only me, then you immediately start talking about Jade." "You'll be paying for that glass with your body." KT's eyes rolled. He was worth so much more than a stupid glass. "We'll see if I'm around that long since you're more interested in that gay pop singer." "Jade and I talked about Sergio and Matao. The two son's my mother had with our old pool boy." Mateo walked away from KT to head back to the room he kept talking as he walked. "I had them put in a brothel in Mexico. Jade found out and asked me if it was true. I told him to keep out of our business and if he medled I wouldn't forgive him. He told Juan and now they're at Juan's condo." |
KT took the chair beside Mateo, his face serious. Rather than expressing anything, it seemed empty as he thought about what was said. What did he feel? He wasn't sure. What did he think? Well...he was still upset with Jade. Even though he hadn't taken the role he expected, by being involved with something so intimate...Mateo had let Jade closer into his life than he did himself.
"Oh." It was all that could come to mind. Fiddling with his hands, he observed them before finally looking at the man. "Well, nothing you can do now, but apologize to Juan. If you don't, he'll never forgive you." |
Mateo shook his head. "The thing is KT, I don't feel sorry for any of it. If I could change anything it would have been that I would have tried a little more to keep Juan away from them."
He shook his head. "I want those two to feel like they don't belong in the world. Even more so I want each breath to be painful." |
"Then fine. Alienate Juan too. Because he probably won't forgive you, and you won't give up on a bunch of strangers. That just means you'll have fewer and fewer friends and..." A sly smirk flew on his lips as KT's eyes flashed. "You're all mine!"

Mateo gave a disgusted face to KT's display. "You're making me want to go to Juan and ask for forgiveness. Stop being so possessive like you're some girl I met because my father told me to. I'm not yours."

KT frowned. Dammit. So much for that. Part of him wanted to hear Mateo relent to him. Instead, he reinstated a former stab at his relationship with him. Deciding to take a risk, just to see what Mateo would do, he rose from his chair sharply and headed to the door.
"Then I don't know why I'm here." |
It wasn't a good day for Mateo. If he had been 10 again he would have pulled out his gun and shot the nearest house worker repeatedly because he was mad at life. He would have ran away out back and started hitting the punching bag in the training room. Now he had to get his frustrations out in other ways that didn't involve tantrums.
His father had calmed him down and taught him restraint. "I don't know either then, but it would obviously cancel your record deal." |
KT pursed his lips and halted his move to the door. Flipping around, he stared at Mateo, knowing just how much his future relied on him. Feeling something beyond frustration, he began shouting.
"What the hell? Why can't I mean anything to you?! Why do I have to be so damn expendable?" |
"Why do you have to mean something? My letting you be in the same room with me and what we DO together should be enough for you."
Mateo shook his head, his voice was starting to raise back at KT. "I even wanted to tell you what happened just to hear your stupid input on it. All you can think about is yourself, and all I can think about is my own issues. I'm not going to coddle you. Find someone who will if that's what you want." |
"You're saying I'm so selfish, and yet you're exactly the same. You didn't want my input, you wanted me to support you and figure out a way to get Juan off your case." KT crossed his arms.
"Let's try this again then...Because we're not getting anywhere this way." Still frightened he could lose that contract, he was going to make that effort. Getting Mateo to like him would happen eventually. |
Mateo couldn't wish for apunching bag more than at that moment. "I'm done talking. Just go to bed and let me be alone. I'll go stay at the office. Maybe tomorrow I might consider seeing you again."
Why couldn't he be that boy that shed tears at the thought of losing him more often. |
KT frowned. Yet again, he was being shoved aside. "You talk to Jade so easily. That's why I hate him. You told him all that stuff, but to me, you...you..." At a loss for words - he had clearly lost anyways - KT swung hard to punch Mateo before running to his room and closing the door. A sloppy turn of the lock left it easy to open.
He threw himself on his bed and began punching things. For all he knew, this could be the last moments of his life and he didn't want to face any of it anymore! Mateo was so frustrating! |
Mateo's tongue touched the inside of his cheek gingerly. A familiar taste of blood entered his mouth. KT must have put all his force into that hit. Even the victims Mateo encountered when he was about to end their lives didn't make contact with Mateo's face.
KT was so different. A large range of emotions and extravagant behavior. It must have been difficult for KT since Mateo himself didn't even know what he felt. He stood up to go get another glass of something to drink. What had made him enter into this kind of relationship. There was no way it was going to work out. His father would murder him himself if he knew. Mateo set his glass down in the sink. The least he could do was let KT know. He stood up and walked to the bedroom, opening it easily. "I wont talk about Jade anymore. I'm going to talk about me and you. It wasn't my intention to make whatever we have last, but somehow you keep me wanting to be with you. I'm not good with sharing anything, regardless of how you think I tell that someone everything. I don't. I had to tell him because he asked, but I wanted to tell you to hear if you would leave me for being a cruel person." |
The words hung heavily into the air. His voice had rang in his head, throbbing from all the crying from today. Realizing there was no clicking of a gun lock being released, KT lifted his face from his pillow and turned to look at Mateo. He breathed in sharply before talking.
"Why should I leave?" Clearly, this was another reason to like Jade. KT seemed so dense. Often. "I just said---" "No. Dammit, you're all I have right now. You're all I want right now. Yeah, so you did something stupid. Never expected you to be perfect." ((And now he dies!)) |

Mateo turned his head that faced down at the carpet towards KT. His red eyes looked, stared into KT's. Never expected him to be perfect. Wasn't that what he was supposed to be? A perfect son, a perfect businessman, a perfect leader, a perfect matador, a perfect person. Mateo wet his lips. Usually before he spoke he thought over every outcome of what he said. Each statement had to be well thought out since it could domino other things. This time he didn't think over his sentence. His words just came from how he felt at that moment. "I don't want you, but I sincerely think I need you." |
((MWHAHAHA! Eat that, KT! UNWANTED!!!))
The first half of the sentence hit KT like a dagger. The second part...just confused him. His overly expressive face did what it did best - it gave away what was on his mind. Within the next few moments, all he could do was sputter, but nothing coherent was capable of coming out. Should he be insulted? Glad? Finally he just uttered an "Oh." |
"I'm going to get in a lot of trouble for being with you." Mateo's hand reached out to feel through KT's hair. "I think you're obsessed with me."

KT stayed calm, letting him pet him. He watched over Mateo's face for some answers before he finally asked. "In trouble with...who? Aren't you God? Why answer to someone?"

"My Papi is still capable of trying my title as God." Mateo moved KT aside some so he could get on the bed beside him to lay down.

Despite Mateo having enough room on the queen sized bed, KT rolled onto his side. He was growing extremely tired. A few outbursts here and there he could handle. But he was out, the adrenaline low. His hand, at the knuckles, was dark with the bruises. He had met more bone than flesh with that punch. Sliding closer, he gave away just how obsessed he was by grasping hold of the front of his shirt. It was as if he still had that lingering fear the phone would ring and Mateo would be in the palm of Jade's hands again.

Mateo's arms reached around KT's body. He felt so small in his arms as he pulled him closer. "Even if Juan can't forgive me. I have an annoying boy with me. That's enough."
Mateo's lips brushed against KT's head. "I'm going to spend all day with you tomorrow." |
Letting go of Mateo's shirt, KT allowed that arm to move around him the best he could. His heart, which was earlier racing from the adrenaline from the argument and the fear of impending death, was now throbbing shamelessly with how much just hearing that and being held meant to him.
"Okay," he murmured in return. He was ready to sleep, knowing very well that tomorrow would start before five AM. |
