Aw, dont be sad! :o
Give yourself plenty of time and do it in increments. My costume did not take long at all, since it was mostly tweaking things already made. Just sounds like a lot. The Wig took the most time, only because I went with cheap spray the first time around. -_- What kind of props were you thinking about making? Cardboard, newspaper, duct tape, foam board, sculpy, spray paint, and gesso go a long way. (Check the website for your convention to make sure you follow height and size requirements so you don't explode after you worked so hard.) |
xD Oh I know all the requirements. Everything I am making is definitely within requirements. :) It's just the fact that I'm not that good at prop-making so far.
I need to figure out a way to make anklets that are pretty thick (think roll of duct tape dimensions) that I can take off if needed without destroying them. xD I'm thinking styrofoam half circles with magnets or velcro will do the trick. The wig is set for that one, thank goodness I just needed to cut the bangs shorter... but I also need to make an axe and headpiece. I have till May though. Thing is.. I would also love to do a Pokemon gijinka.. and if I choose one with armor.. well then that's a whole other problem. xDD Mostly I need to keep myself motivated so I don't cop out and wear lolita all weekend instead. |
Thinking about cosplay reminds me I'll never find the boots I need in time, most likely. ;o;
|
:o What kind of boots are you looking for?
|
I'm looking for these boots:
http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...AAAAAA9wQw.jpg They're Crocs, and the style is called Georgie. Color is fuchsia (but they look really really pink xD ). And I need them in a US Size M6/W8 (mens 6/womens 8). Or a UK 6, I found out thats the equivalent to my US size. And they're impossible to find. End ;o; |
I think I've seen those in the mall in town. o.o I think we're going there again soon so I'll keep my eyes open for them.
|
Wow super cute croc boots Irkie! I want a pair of pink or green ones. 0 30
|
OMG.
If someone can find me these boots, I'll love you forever. And pay you the price you bought them for. And shipping. And prolly a tip~ <3 |
how boring.. I wasn't allowed to do Rinoas jacket at school because it had to be something of my own design.. >.> bleh.
so I'm changing my cosplay, I'm thinking of doing Faith from Mirror's Edge :3 |
That's so sad Sagitar. D: I am unfamiliar with Faith though. Do you have a ref pic to share?
|
There she is:
http://www.illusivestudios.com/img/m...rrors_edge.jpg I would have to get a wig though or something.. D: |
I'm starting on a Yuffi FFVII cosplay..original |
I am working on my Franziska Von Karma cosplay off an on. I worked on the boots, just have to attach the cuffs. Finished re-wrapping crepe paper on the jump rope for the whip yesterday. (Love the wooden handle) Now to finish attaching the cuffs and work on hemming a skirt. I am going to check out a thrift store for black skirts made of suit-like material to work with.
My reference pics are from the official art book, but this is a scan from the book I found online. Franny |

do you have any firnds to do a group cosplay with? |
I'm at Anime St. Louis right now.
The theme of cosplays as seemed to change around here. Before you would seen a lot of Naurto, Bleach, and Death Note but not so much here. There are still a lot of them but I saw more Riku (Kingdom Hearts) then Naurto or even L. Today I went as a misc Organization XIII. Now that I think about it if I part my hair different I could go as Xion. I don't think I'll dress up again. Apparently the airconditioning doesn't work. *sweat drop* literaly |
My boyfriend (As She Commands) is going as Detective Dick Gumshoe. We believe in the Franny/Gumshoe pairing. ;)
I have a friend who went as Phoenix Wright. We met him at the mock trial briefly and bumped into each other a few more times until we exchanged AIM names. He is not sure if he is going this year, but says he will try. We are going with a group of people, but I am not sure what they are cosplaying as. (Most likely Bleach) I would love to find a group of people online to join us though. Phoenix Wright is a pretty strong fan base for a sleeper hit. We will be bumping into fellow law enforcers/abiders/breakers at the con if we can't get an official group. Which reminds me, we need to get him a new coat. The last coat we used was made of wool. And in 92 degree weather, that is just not cool. :o |
Wow, Anyakan, a wool coat in 92 degree weather?
That sounds terrible! I was wearing .... about 3-4 layers at Otakon a few years back in August and DAMN! Was it hot. Holy crap. I just hope A-kon won't bee to bad with hotness. Then again it is May. And in Texas. I dunno if it gets super hot in Dallas in May though. o.o |
Happy Easter =^_^=
any Easter bunny cosplayers? xD |
Soo, I just wanted it to be known.
I. FOUND. MY. BOOTS. OMGGG. xD I actually got them in not this just past Friday, but the one before that. Just in time for my local convention. >w< |

uhh.. I think I might be changing my costume again *sigh* I think the expenses of getting a ninja forehead protector would go over my budget which is really close to 0 right now.. :( so any ideas for a cosplay? - I'm pretty pale, but that can be changed ofcourse. - I'm short and thin but curvy :3 - I have medium length black hair - and very low on money.. |
Thankks~! I was super excited.
Annd, on the subject of you getting a new cosplay, I really wouldn't be the person to ask >___>; I don't really know -any- anime/manga series very well (minus Loveless xD ) soo yeah. xD Hopefully someone else pops in here to help! Good luck finding a new one! ^^ |
I'm not sure if this counts or not, because I've never done a convention (I'm hoping to, though) but I have done a Halloween cosplay as Integra Hellsing from the Hellsing anime. I might do another cosplay again this year (maybe a vampire Sailor), but I'm gonna have to make sure that it's within my means.

Oh wow, it has been so long since the last time I logged on.
@fuyumi_saito: Have you tried putting wire in between the duct tape you will be using for the ribbon-like material in her outfit? (Alice 19) I have finished my whip, not sure if I mentioned that already. I haven't touched my boots yet. Leather is pretty hard to hand sew, eats up my needles and makes them dull if not snap. I have been working on the wig. I got a wig from CogMarc; Seller on ebay. They use the good stuff (Kanekalon fibers), they just don't do requests so you have to snatch them when they become available. As with most wigs that are long they are usually lacking in "body" to make up for length. The color and texture was perfect for Franziska. I do need to give the wig a lively boost to pull off the stiff layers in the back. I was avoiding anything that said "bob-cut" Her hair is longer than a bob and does not curl. The wig I chose must have been about 14 inches. I cut the wig a little below chin level and have been making wefts out of the loose hair using masking tape and liquid nails. (think wood putty but in a squeeze tube; holds better than sewing apparently) As to whether it will work out, I am not sure. I am a novice with a perfection complex attempting something a bit more advanced. So far the wefts are coming out fine, just a messy process. I will practice adding the liquid nail wefts by sewing them in to the lace lining of the wig to avoid bumps and clumps. If I don't like it, I will make wefts using a sewing machine (granted I get my hands on one) and sew them that way. My goal is to get the wig to look like it is in the official art. Straight, choppy layers, chin level with longer feathered layers in the front. Her bangs are long if you stretched them straight; which is misleading when you see them over on the side of her hair. The longest part would reach the corner of her mouth at least. Most cosplayers who did franny I have seen just use a blue bob and it really doesn't look right to me. Looked like Rei Ayanami in a suit. The wig color I chose was either called "dull grey" or "dull clay". I Didn't want the silver to be shiny or too bright, since people's flash cameras and lights would make it look plastic-y, glowing, and strange. (Always best to avoid shine) That is the latest with my cosplay preparation so far. I am leaning more towards carrying a briefcase instead of a purse at the con to stay more in character, I can keep my water, cell phone, money, etc. there, maybe some fake subpoenas to hand to poor unsuspecting.... SUSPECTS. But if that becomes a space problem or I don't find one in a thrift store that is good enough I will get a black clutch purse with a Victorian look to it for my phone and some money at least. |
Yay cosplayers.
I am in the middle of getting all much stuff together for a Con in June! Currently working on Lady from DMC3! P.s. anyone know how to make a superhero eye mask? i.e. for Ms Marvel |
I'm kinda confused about your thread..Does it mean avi cosplayers or IRL cosplayers?:?:
