Cherry Who? 03-12-2009 11:12 PM

I read a series by that name, once. But it was a different author, so they're not the same.

Massage 03-12-2009 11:16 PM

Ahh. I remember reading a fictional book about Merlin and King Arthur. I don't remember who it was by and am too lazy to go find out (my bookshelves are a mess right now since I've been moving a lot of stuff around).

Cherry Who? 03-12-2009 11:26 PM

The one I read was by T.A. something, I think. Uhhh... Baron, maybe? Something like that.

tirethminet 03-13-2009 12:38 AM

@kat - ... er. unicorn... centaur... pink... blue... girl...? LOLWTF.
oh, owen. AMAZON WOMAN. bahahaha.
ianto... as a giraffe man? woman, which torchwood book are you reading?

nyehehhe, wolverine speaking japanese.
MANDROIDS. i would have burst into a gigglefit while reading the comic.

@cherry - t.a. barron. i saw it every day at work, so i KNOW. @[email protected]
(apparently he was at the the texas book festival, so we had a LOT of copies to bring to our booth and get him to sign so we could sell them. XD

ps.
OHMYGOD.
dani and i are listening to the repo! soundtrack and during the song "21st century cure", graverobber does this great hand movement for "cure" in the lyrics.
we have to do it every time the part comes up, and dani just did it about six inches from my face so i could not finish mine due to hysterical laughter. XD <3

edit:
OHMYGAHD, WHERE'S MY BODY?

Killashandra 03-13-2009 01:44 AM

@tirethminet- Ah! I love Repo! It's my favorite movie.

Knerd 03-13-2009 02:05 AM

Guys, I need your collective wisdom.

What book should I read next?

I've got these ones sitting on my dresser right now:

Neuromancer by William Gibson
Dune by Frank Herbert
This is Your Brain on Music by Daniel J. Levitin
Peony by Pearl S Buck
Palace Walk by Naguib Mahfouz
The Rebel by Albert Camus

And of course: the ever popular Jennifer Government =)

What should I pick up next?

Cherry Who? 03-13-2009 02:56 AM

JENNIFER GOVERNMENT JENNIFER GOVERNMENT JENNIFER GOVERNMENT. *shouldergrabshake*
JENNIFER. GOVERNMENT.

Knerd 03-13-2009 02:58 AM

Yeah yeah, I expected that answer from you.

Let's wait for some other people to weigh in, shall we? :XD

Massage 03-13-2009 04:41 AM

Neuromancer by William Gibson.
I like the title... but I don't know what it's about.

tirethminet 03-13-2009 04:46 AM

@killa - yessssss, more repo! fans.
we have watched it approximately four times in the past three days.
not to mention listening to the soundtrack countless times.
i have done something dangerous to dani by introducing it to her. XD

JENNIFERGOVERNMENTJENNIFERGOVERNMENTJENNIFERGOVERN MENTJENNIFERGOVERNMENT
::shouldershakeofdoom::
JENNIFER GOVERNMENT.
and i'm only three chapters in. |D
(i am managing to procrastinate reading anything.)
if JG wasn't on there, i would say dune, though, just because i have and love the miniseries (both of them) and desperately want to read the books.

@massage - neuromancer, not necromancer. XD
i did the same thing when i first saw the title before, so is coolies.
and i only know it is neuromancer because i know gibson does a shitload of cyber era-y things

Massage 03-13-2009 04:49 AM

Um, what is Jennifer Government about?

-edit-
Ahh, sorry, a spelling mistake, it might have something to do with my automatic spell checker. -corrects-

tirethminet 03-13-2009 05:59 AM

jennifer government is abooouuuuut...
this guy.
in a near future world.
where companies pretty much rule the world.
and this poor guy who works for nike.
is pretty much conned into killing people.
also everyone has their companies name as their surname.
so those kids in the mcdonald's-sponsored school all have mcdonald's as their last name.
and these kids live in australia, which is a territory or something of the us.
= first three chapters on a plate. 8D
i fail at summarizing things. ;_;

Massage 03-13-2009 06:11 AM

Wow, I think I may have to look it up in my library. Hopefully they have it! =]

Knerd 03-13-2009 02:14 PM

I'll probably start reading Neuromancer - It was at the top of my list anyway, and i've owned that book way to long to keep pushing it off.

But I'll probably bring Jennifer Government back with me to school. Never fear! I'll read it sometime this year.

Killashandra 03-13-2009 02:50 PM

@tirethminet- I haven't watched it nearly as much as I want to. But I do listen to the soundtrack almost every day at work.

Psychotic Cricket 03-13-2009 04:26 PM

Ohh what is Neuromancer about? The title caught my interest so now I am curious.

Massage 03-13-2009 04:29 PM

I'm kinda curious too.

Knerd 03-13-2009 05:02 PM

Here you go!

Wikipedia describes it better than I'd ever be able to.

Massage 03-13-2009 05:17 PM

Haha, silly me for not looking it up.

Ahh, it sounds interesting... another book for me to look for. =]

Psychotic Cricket 03-13-2009 06:46 PM

It sounds very interesting. I know my mom keeps bugging me about reading the Pern books as well. I've just been lazy. I have many other things I should be doing besides reading, but I love reading to much.

KatMagenta 03-13-2009 07:19 PM

Tireth: The Torchwood book on crack was Another Life. The game Owen plays is actually called 'Second Reality', my bad! I haven't read most of the ones set in/around series two but hopefully my library will get some of the new ones that come out in May.

+ I'm up to the third issue of my Uncanny X-Men pocket book. In typical X-Men fashion at given point one half of the team has to believe the other half is dead/missing/captured when actually they're perfectly fine. Phones and whatnot evidentially don't work in the Marvel universe.

Which reminds me I need to finish reading Marvel 1602. -_-

Killashandra 03-14-2009 12:48 AM

@Psychotic Cricket- The few Pern book I've read a very good. I like the Crystal Singer series by the same author.

FeyonaSaibre 03-14-2009 01:59 AM

Man i'm still in the middle of the Worthing Saga... Orson Scott Card may be a genious in literature but sometimes he makes my head hurt...

Cherry Who? 03-14-2009 02:15 AM

I ordered a free book today. Since it was free, I figured it'd be like, either really bad or trying to sell something/a religion. But I talked to someone who had read it on a forum and they said it was really good and wasn't religious or an advertisement or something. So I'm looking forward to that!
I can post the link if someone's interested.

Massage 03-14-2009 02:28 AM

I would like the link but I also kinda want to wait until you get it to know for sure. hehe. -feels like it's too good to be true-

Also, like a silly person, I'm reading two books at a time now. Inkheart. Yup. I'll go update my challenge list. =]
