Well, Goodreads looks really cool so I signed up C: I have a lot of books I've read, and a lot I want to read; also, the site told me that there were actually several sequels coming soon for a few series I have read in the past! [eager] So i'm excited!

Giveaways sound really cool, too~

Chexala 10-24-2014 05:50 AM

I use Goodreads to catalog the books I own, track what I'm reading, and list all the books I want to read or that someone has recommended to me. I give books star ratings when I finish them, but never leave reviews. I hardly ever read other people's reviews either, or browse for recommendations from the site.

I save my posting energy for Mene, generally. :3

Knerd 10-24-2014 09:36 PM

I like to read through the one-star reviews. Some of them are just...amazing, honestly.

I post the best ones on my tumblr. [rofl]

Where else can you find gems like this?

Well, I didn't just spend half an hour going through Knerds tumblr reviews and stuff [ninja]

Chexala 10-25-2014 06:43 AM

Oh my god, bad reviews are hilarious!

Connielass 10-25-2014 07:14 AM

I have no energy for it right now.. I just started two books, both of which are re-reads that I've lost track of how many times I've already read them. But I've got until Nov. 4 before the next book I'm waiting on to be published and available in stores. So just killing time with books I've already got.

SuperZombiePotatoe 10-25-2014 07:22 AM

I just finished American Gods. I need a new book to read [cry]

---------- Post added 10-25-2014 at 01:24 PM ----------

I need buddies on Goodreads that actually come online. This is me. Add, yes?

zigbigadorlube 10-25-2014 05:22 PM

Unfortunately I'm never online on goodreads. I usually just access it for a minute or two on my phone when I need to update something. >.<

SuperZombiePotatoe 10-25-2014 06:03 PM

Me too! i figured if I knew people on there it might persuade me to be a more active participant [XD]

Same for me. I'm just adding friends in the hopes that we all might see something someone else read, and get interested in it. That's the way it tends to work out for me: I read books I never would have considered even looking at, when a friend seems to like it.

zigbigadorlube 10-25-2014 08:33 PM

I don't often look at what my friends read. >_>

SuperZombiePotatoe 10-25-2014 09:25 PM

I may or may not be a stalker [ninja]

Bad reviews on Goodreads can be pretty golden. I actually use Goodreads reviews to help me decide if I should order books or not for the bookstore where I work. If a lot of people like it and can coherently explain why, I will probably order it. If a lot of people really hate it and have reasonable, articulate reasoning, then I probably won't order it. Yay, technology! Bringing people together!

Sorry if I crashed the party here, I just love books. (And the above-posted tumblr is fun, by the way. GREAT idea.) :) Also, I wanted to do this goal at the beginning of the year, but I lost track of how many I have read. Maybe next year if I have some place like this holding me more accountable? ;)

I never go by Goodreads reviews. most of the people have completely different opinions of the books that I read.

This.

SuperZombiePotatoe 10-26-2014 09:42 AM

I'm experiencing withdrawal symptoms. Someone recommend something for me to read. Modern fantasy maybe. Or fantasy. I will love you.

Enama 10-26-2014 09:49 AM

what kind of fantasy? the last fantasy I read was the Throne of Glass series.

SuperZombiePotatoe 10-26-2014 10:33 AM

Any kind. Just... something. [headdesk]
Haven't heard of Throne of Glass. Any good?

Enama 10-26-2014 10:35 AM

I loved it, there are four books, first three in the series and then a book with a compilation of short stories. it's by Sarah J. Maas.

SuperZombiePotatoe 10-26-2014 10:40 AM

Hmm, four books. Sounds good. I'm going to go look up the synopsis :)

Enama 10-26-2014 10:45 AM

it's got a badass female main character.

SuperZombiePotatoe 10-26-2014 10:49 AM

Even better!

Enama 10-26-2014 10:56 AM

and the love story is minimal and its got assassins and magic and fae but none of its cheesy.

Chexala 10-26-2014 09:42 PM

Another good fantasy series I just got into recently is the Green Rider series by Kristen Britain. There are currently 5 books; I haven't read the last one yet, so I'm not sure if the series is finished or not.

But it's got a tough female protagonist and plenty of adventure and magic. Epic bad guys from the past, time travel sometimes, cool supporting cast of characters. :D

I'm going to have to check out this Throne of Glass series too.

SuperZombiePotatoe 10-26-2014 09:52 PM

ANybody hear off Prince of Bones? Sounds dark and gritty, just like I enjoy [XD]
