Lauryn, your dragon egg hatched a chick. Neat!

I think if I was an oldbie at Gaia, I may not be as ticked off because I would already have the items I wanted and not have to worry about the horrid inflation. The cash shop is sometimes a bit much though.

I'm pretty old on there, but I don't have any of the really super old expensive stuff. I joined in early 2004, so I missed all the 2003 stuff just barely, and it was already too expensive for me when I first joined, and it just continually stayed out of my reach. So inflations bothers me as well. I'm lucky to have quite a few good items though that are nearly impossible to get now. I also hate the cash shop with a passion. It's making things impossible. Too many items released at the same time, and too quickly, to get them all, and the worst of it is they retire them with very short notice. The fact that they're retired at all makes it horrible.

Hey there, i just found this hangout so I won't be contributing to the conversation just yet, just posting to hand over my information ;)

My name is Melissa, I'm 24 years old and live in a super small hick town located within Virginia, USA. I'm currently single and have no kids other than my pets which include 2 chinchillas (bob and jerrabell), a russian dwarf hamster (puffin), a beta fish (george), 3 dogs (bugbug, mini and precious) and 4 cats (tigger, boboe, nermal and jag).

My interests include but are no limited to: blogging, painting, reading, desiging graphics, building websites, taking care of animals, music, kawaii stationery, pen pals, mass amounts of coffee, marlboro red cigarettes, hot fries and flip flops.

I'm short, 5'1 and have multicolored eyes (left-blue, right-green). I have 11 piercings which include 4 holes in each ear, left eyebrow, tongue and lower right lip. I like tattoos and am currently thinking about getting a super small design between the index and thumb of my right hand though I honestly don't like the idea of something permanent (other than what's supposed to be there) on my body.

If you need to know more just ask me, i'm not shy ;)

True Vicky. Well I went to go buy the stipped stockings and found they had risen to 400k. Last time I checked a couple months ago they were 90someK...so I am more than a little bit more disgusted.

Welcome Melissa! I love your graphics. ^^

Wow that sucks. x_x I was lucky enough to get the striped stockings from a giftbox early on. If you wait long enough and open all giftboxes you get, you might get lucky and get them free.

I just don't like what gaia has become. It's so much harder to earn gold now and everything is so commercial.

Kalliste 06-02-2008 02:44 AM

You had me at no drama! Online drama (as well as normal drama) is just no fun.

I don't really pay attention to the commercial side of gaia so I can't lend any feedback on that point but I will agree that gaia has become a cestpool for drama queen, bump-addict tweeny-boppers.

The only way i earn gold on gaia anymore is by browsing various parts of the site and collecting my cart items every day.

I posted in the forums maybe three times and found it super annoying. people wanting to start arguments over nothing, kids talking about having cyber sex with each other, people bumping for gold with zero respect to new threads so new conversations are SUPER hard to get started, etc.

It's just too difficult to post over there but I'm trying to break myself of the habit so i can at least achieve my dream avatar goal.

I still love aspects of Gaia too... I like my guilds and I like building up my avatar. Like you, I rarely post on the forums because it's just too hard! But the guilds and their members (assuming you join the right one) are usually really helpful.

Plus, I'm a sucker for events :P

comotized 06-02-2008 04:25 AM

i'm a sucker for events too, i'm a member of one guild but i never post in it. i believe you're a member of it too *scratches forehead*

The adults one? Infinite wisdom or something.
They're actually really helpful... the best guild I've been a part of but not very active.
I need constanct activity to keep me interested :P

In that way Menewsha is better than Gaia because everyone needs constant activity to get any gold :)

Gaia isn't too hard to post in if you find a place for yourself. Such as guilds or specific threads. I had trouble posting here on Menewsha as well, even though it is a tiny site. Sometimes sites are so small they are even harder to post on. Like sometimes I just won't see any topics that I find interesting or have anything to respond to. So finding a place like this to hang out in is really helpful. Likewise, on Gaia I have certain threads and guilds that I hang out in and I don't venture out of those very often. Only once in a while. It's much easier to stick to talking to people I know. Plus I like to avoid the annoying younger crowd who try to beg for items or ask to cyber.

Kalliste 06-02-2008 11:33 AM

I agree Vickicat... sometimes bigger is easier to post on, that being said the Gaia forums seem to be quite chaotic!! I'd prefer to start from the guilds and well, maybe never leave them hehe.
It is sometimes hard to post here too but the hangouts do help... today is my first day experiencing them :)

roocee 06-02-2008 01:33 PM

I have to agree to a point. I've just been much more comfortable here than over on gaia when it comes to posting. I loved it when you got 10g for each poll. That was great. I made 2k a day or more that way.

Changing the way gold for polls was given was one of the worst things they did... But then I'm also annoyed that Menewsha and nearly none of the other sites I'm on give any gold at all for polls. Gaia and Flashbunny seem to be the only ones.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of no polls earning gold because it makes you work at chatting which I really enjoy here. But, I do like the poll gold if I am in lurk mode.

That annoys me too. When I first realised I was a bit disappointed. They seem to want to make it pretty darn hard to earn gold... some days I just want to lurk a bit and don't have the energy to post, on those days it would be good if polls earnt gold because then we'd still be able to earn a little gold on our lazy days.

exactly, but if you're on dialup bigger and more chaotic means you end up sounding like a complete jackass as by the time your post finally goes through five people have replied and your comment no longer makes sense

i've only had that happen a few times here, one being your introduction post in this hangout :P by the time mine went through yours was posted before me

Kalliste 06-03-2008 04:46 AM

Menewsha was actually quite fun last night... a few wacky posts came up so I was pretty happy with that :) I made some new friends... well friends for that post friends :D

I hope you ended up getting some sleep :)

comotized 06-03-2008 04:59 AM

yeah I finally did manage to sleep thank god! And I got my lunesta filled and back in my hands so i should sleep good tonight too *pets the bottle*

and why do i always end up missing out on the fun nights and making friends on here? *sniffles* no fair me says, no fair!

Yeah, it wouldn't even have to be that much gold. Just a little extra something, especially since we don't get anything for lurking. I always make sure to post at least once a day. So on my super lazy days, I make one post and that is the end of it. I am glad that they at least have games now that give you a decent amount of gold. Before the games I was perpetually poor on this site.
