Aww... <3 Good to see she has made progress. c: Although a mini speed racer may give you a heart attack. XD
I know she will be giving me one for sure.
Well Elise has been scheduled for physical therapy. I really think she's not going to like this but she's just not there yet even though she's walking around things. She just is afraid to let go.
awww fear of the unknown. At least she's walking around things and not just scooting any more!
She may actually love physical therapy, the place I take the twins for speech therapy also does physical therapy and everyone going into and coming out of the physical therapy room always looks happy, little kids included. (: |
I recently went through physical therapy for my shoulders, and loved it! I can only imagine they make it even better for kids. Good luck to her. |
What happened to your shoulders eternal?
Oh, long story. Back when I was 17, I was a passenger in a car that got into a pretty bad accident, which damaged my trapezial muscle (the muscle that connects your neck to the outside of your shoulder. 13 years went by, most of which involved me sitting at a computer. But, my sholders would get a break when in the afternoons and evenings and weekends. Well, this past year I went back to school. I spent all day on my laptop, which is even worse than a desktop, then carried a heavy backpack to and from class 4 days a week, leaving me little time other than sleeping when my shoulders were not being affected. Early last semester the pain was too much to bear, so I saw the dr who put me through about 3 months of PT to strengthen the muscles again. Now I just do the exercises at home (at least I'm supposed to....) |
lol, at least it helped!
Oh, it helped immensely, thanks! |
*pokes her head back in*
*waves* Hi everyone. |
So therapy started yesterday. The therapist is super nice - and Elise seemed to like her. She said her hips are a little weak so she wants up to try and get her to sit on her knees for a couple minutes at a time. And she wants her to stand and play, and play on her knees as well. Insurance has approved 12 sessions and she would like to see her twice a week. So Im hoping that with this, she will finally start to walk.
Sorry for the epic fail Ive been - Ive been sucked into the world of RP and its taking alot of my time lol. Plus my facebook addiction has gotten worse, but Im really going to try and stop in more often. And before I go - new pics!! http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...n/IMG00075.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...n/06202010.jpg |
Yay! I'm glad she's gotten into therapy. I think for the twins all my insurance covered at first was 12 sessions, but it's been renewed twice now so I'm thinking yours will too (If she still needs it of course!) Here's hoping that little one ups and starts walking soon!
She's such a character and it's so cute to watch her pull herself up to things. I'm very encouraged that she will be walking soon.
aww... sweet pictures!
Glad to hear about physical therapy. She'll get there. c: |
Yeah Im trying to remain positive - its just getting to be too much to carry her everywhere. When we go to bed I make her crawl up the stairs, if shes awake. For some reason she laughs so hard when I carry her up that I have trouble keeping ahold of her. And my arms hurt because shes just so heavy. Though I feel like super woman when I can bring 12 bags of groceries up the stairs because Ive got strong arms lol
Good luck with the PT Jess! |
Strong arms is good. I know I can't carry her for long.
So, how's it been going?? |
As far as I know she is finally at her second session today.
Shes doing good. She threw a few fits when they made her stand or crawl instead of scooting. Thats going ot be the hard part - stopping her from doing that. They want us to catch her and force her to crawl or walk holding her hands. Yeah - she doesnt like that AT ALL. But they make her do what they want, which I expected. I think its easier for them to separate themselves from the child because they have no attachment. Its harder for me to tell her no or make her stop because I dont like to see her cry lol
Awwww Jess. Just remember that it's what's best for her and get through it with that thought. Like getting your kids to sleep through the night instead of crying to be fed/held in the middle of the night. It's something they need to learn, and if need be you have to give them that push. You can do it!!
She's actually been letting go of the couch and standing on her own several times.
Awesome! I love it when they realize they can do something with out being scared and start doing it more often. (:
I sure hope so. She is doing better when she does walk with someone. She actually bends her knees more.
Give the physical therapy a little more time and I'm sure she'll be walking soon!
I think it took about two months for me to really see a difference in how the twins were talking. And verbal skills take a little more time to finesse than motor skills do. At least at a young age, since our bodies are built for movement. I bet next month she'll be walking and running all over the place! |
