Last night, AVG found a virus...

Alright, last night I did a virus scan using AVG...Well, it found a threat. And when it did, I stopped the scan and AVG told me it healed the infected file...Well, I know from past experiences that healing an infected file doesn't always work...Because my mom's computer had a virus which it supposedly healed, but it didn't work.

After that, I did another virus scan, this time letting it completely finish...There were no threats found. But due to past experiences, I'm a little...Worried...To say the very least.

So, any advice on what I should do? AVG said it was '.psyme' I can't remember what was in front of the .psyme though.
Anyway, help would be *greatly* appreciated, and I'll most likely worship the ground you walk on.

Maybe try downloading Spybot Search and Destroy (it's free) and scanning with that? Granted, it only scans for cookie trackers and spybots, but it might help. *shrug*

Avast! Antiviris is what I use.
Its also free, and its awesome.
If it cant delete or heal the viris, it locks it away in "the chest" and it won't harm your computer.

  • I agree with Steve. Avast! is one of the best in my experience. It took a worm Trojan and destroyed it.

Now you have one of the best programs I can recommend, AVG Free.

Now what I do, is I find the name of the file and track it down on my computer by typing in the name of it so it will come up. I delete it from there. I check every time something is found (nothing has been found for like a year) just incase.
