I read "Interview With a Vampire" (well, obviously not all of it. just some of it) last night in the tub and went to sleep straight after. @[email protected];

So far it seems pretty good... I'm more than a little bit weirded out by the Louis/Claudia relationship, as depicted in the text. Their feelings for each other seem to be slightly different from the way the movie showed it. It sort of makes me cringe in the 'child endangerment' sort of way. Not that I think Louis is a pedophile or anything, but it's written in such a way that it makes it sound like it. x_x; Other things have altered a bit from the way the movie described it happening, too. But nothing remarkable so far.

Still :heart: Louis, though. :B



RE: My Quest
Nothing on the harem-headgear front (it could be days before the sale goes through, which is fine)....
But I did buy one of the Harem bras (white/silver).
And, of course, this teal Flight Jacket. Which isn't on my "ieeee" list, but I wanted a nice accent piece for this outfit and it works really nicely. :3 (imho, ymmv)

Hmm so what is the story about exactly? o.o

:o You haven't seen the movie? XD

::writes with the idea that you've not seen it yet::

You start out in modern times (the book has it set in the late '70s, I assume, based on the printing date, but the movie has it set more in the '90s, I assume, based on the movie release date) in a room with a young man and a gentleman of some refinement (the vampire, Louis).

Louis somehow met up with the young man (apparently he interviews random people and puts these interviews on the radio, though the movie may have him just be a text-reporter... I don't remember if they ever say) and the guy is all, "So, let's talk about this whole thing where you think you're a vampire." And Louis is all, "Okay, well, I am a vampire, and let's start back at when I was alive as a human..."

And so the story cuts back'n'forth between modern times, during this interview, and the past, where Louis started out as a human who owned a plantation just outside of New Orleans back in 1700-something-ish. Before the Louisiana Purchase, anyway. Depending on if you're reading the book or watching the movie, either his wife's death or his brother's death sent him on a self-destructive path, so he'd go out and get drunk and kinda hope someone would kill him. Of course, someone eventually did, but that 'someone' was a vampire (Lestat).

Depending on the book/movie, Lestat's motivations are slightly different. But he certainly wants a companion of some type. But Louis and Lestat don't really get along very well and Louis tries to be a different sort of vampire from Lestat - who is all about excessive desires. Lestat is a consumer whereas Louis is someone who savors what he is presented with. In any event Louis eventually starts to break free from that relationship, which provokes a chain of events which results in the addition of Claudia to their lives. And Claudia is a girl of (book says around 5 years old/movie seems to show around 8 years old) whom is made a vampire as well.

And then so on and so forth. ;B ::tried not to ruin anything big for you, as this is the sort of thing you would have picked up from the commercials if you'd seen it on television::

Nope. xD Never saw the movie.

But O.O Oooo hey that actually sounds pretty interesting!

XD It is interesting. The book, of course, can 'afford' to be a little more disturbing and in-depth than the movie. And since (so far, at least) it doesn't seem wildly different from the movie, you could probably watch the DVD (or wait for it to come on television) and see what you think before investing time in the book. XD

Oh, I should also mention that there is homoerotic subtext/themes in both movie and book (sometimes more obvious than others). And the movie has one scene, if I recall correctly, where they show a topless woman for a few seconds. Which I doubt you have a problem with, but it's something to keep in mind with who you watch it around. XD;

Anyway, whenever I finish the book, I'm going to watch the movie again. Because I rather enjoy it. ::has seen it a few times and bought the dvd for-cheap:: XD

Quest update! Of sorts....

Again, it's not for my 'main' Quest, but I managed to purchase white/silver harem pants to go with the white/silver harem bra I got. :3 Woohoo! Since I'm also questing all Harem items in general, I am making progress of the questy sort!

My gold did not disappear, btw.... I went ahead and put it all in a trade so I wasn't tempted to spend it before I heard back from the seller. XD;


EDIT:
Wanted to shop... So I sold back some event commons I didn't use much and figured I never would.

Purchased:
- White/silver Harem top
- White/silver Harem skirt
- Purple/black inventor's steampunk coat thing
- Pleasantly purple ladie's blouse.

I believe all of which are on my wishlist... (if not, then the only thing specifically not on my wishlist is the steampunk coat...)

And, even after that spending spree, I still have a tiny bit of gold that I can blow tomorrow. :D
