Where is the "Sibling Love" ?
I received a PM today stating that 20g had been deducted from my account for conversing with someone on the same IP address, the [no named] Mod who the message came from asked for a reply on whether or not Usuri (the other person on my IP address) was a mule, or relative.
Usuri is in fact my sister, and we are the best of friends. To my understanding, I am not allowed to converse with my sister on MENE because she is on the same IP address as me. Supposedly MENE reasoning says that If I wanted to chat with her, I should do so IRL. My Point is that, I'm not a very sociable person, sometimes I use Usuri as a way to pull myself into conversations. Alot of people tend to ignore me if I am new to a thread so I like following Usuri to new threads so that I never feel awkward or alone. Apparently, we are allowed to be in the same thread but we are not allowed to talk to each other. Strangely this reasoning discourages me, where is the Sibling Love? In Addition, if there were a third party, lets say a friend, who was familiar with both of us. I'm to assume that we are not allowed to chat with the third party together. If we wanted to do that, we would have to have two separate conversations with the third party and hope that some of it gets passed to the other person through the text of the third party. For example: Usuri: hey maybe I should draw art of you and my sister. Third person: sure! I'd like that Usuri: hey can you ask my sister if she likes that, cause I'm not allowed to talk to her and I'm too lazy to run all the way downstairs to the other side of the house Third person: okay~ -later- Third person: hey your sister is asking blah blah blah Mel: Tell her that I'd appreciate that alot . By the way blah blah insert our own convo blah blah and of course this all could be happening in --> 1 thread .___. No personal offense to the Mod who PMed us or the MENE developers. This could all be a big misunderstanding. I just want to point out this strangle flaw in what I believe is a great community site. :D Feel free to discuss this with me if you have any questions~ *I do have the PMs from the Mod in which we talked about this~ I can post quotes right after she OKays it :D *I normally write in Hotpink but for view pleasure I'll make it purple :D |
Reserved in case
=3 Feel free to post noww~ |
I'd never actually thought of that sort of thing happening. It's a very good case, though.
I personally think that it should be allowed, as long as you're not talking JUST to that person, but Menewshan people can't really know if you're talking to another or not. It only shows them the accounts and IPs and other account info, not person behind the screen. Not much can be done about it, I don't think. EDIT: Actually, I think the person below is correct. I think there was an announcement sometime a bit ago that said if you have multiple people using the same IP, you could inform them and it would be fine. You have to include like.. accounts used and stuff like that.. |
Well are you not suppose to let the admins know if multiple users are using the same ip address?

On the issue of how I can't talk to Usuri alone. So she can't come into my quest thread and leave a friendly goodluck? because of course that would be a conversation directly at me and me only ._. edit: Quote:

-side note-
Double posting isn't allowed, you should just edit your first post with the second reply. The rule is mostly in place to prevent people from talking with their mules to get gold. I'm sure it can be sorted out, though. |
My brother and I talk in a hangout thread, but we don't talk to each other. We talk to other people of course.

Unfortunately, there will always be dishonest people on this site who try to earn extra gold by talking to "their sister," when in fact it is just them on another account. In order to prevent this, we ask that any users on the same ip address give us proof that they are indeed separate people.
It says so right in the Menewsha Rules: Quote:
You guys are allowed to post within the same threads, you just can't carry on a conversation directly with each other. After all, that would be a bit unfair to the other users. So don't be afraid to just jump into threads and start making new friends! We're a cool bunch - We don't bite. You shouldn't ever hesitate to just join into a thread! |
@Knerd: thanks for your input .__.
If I prove that we're sisters IRL can we talk to each other? My sister is my best friend .__. so just because she lives in the same house as me. . I'm not allowed to talk to her =( I have a picture of us wearing yukatas .__. we don't look very cute >___< and we don't really look that much like sisters but we are :D I have baby pictures if you want >_>; |

If you prove that the accounts are two separate people, then it will save us a lot of trouble in the future in terms of things like trading, donations, etc. It really helps the staff out. I really am sorry that you can't talk with your sister, but we have rules like this for a reason. Instead of posting with her here, just give her a big hug in real life. |
=/ Can I ask what kind of proof I need to provide?
*indirectly hugs Usuri* :D We're planning on making an art shop together, It's going to be a little hard but I'm sure MENE staff will help us out =3 POWER TO THE SIBLINGS OUT THERE! |

What sucks is that I'm afraid of PMing Usuri because it might be used against us .__. who knows I'm just trying to stay safe *hugs my MENE avy* |
Unless I am badly mistaken, PMing a user (even one on the same IP address) is not against the rules. XD;
The only reason this rule is in place is because of potential abuse of the gold system. Feel free to PM your sister. :3 *makes no comment on the other rule* |

Like CK said, you are free to pm any user you want, because pms don't earn you gold. And you can both talk to a third party as much as you'd like. However, talking back and forth with one another, and with no one else, is considered abuse of the gold system. Unless you have had permission to start up a roleplay together, we really can't let you do that. I really am sorry guys, but you have to look at it from our perspective - We can only identify you by your IP address. It's not like we can gaze through your computer screen and see who's typing what. Since our gold system mainly works through posts, and since many people have access to multiple accounts, it would be unfair to everyone if we let the same IP address converse back and forth. |
Nice, so we can PM each other and I'm guessing we can talk to each other as long as the conversation includes a third party? :D YAY~
thanks for the clarification guys~ |
I know this seems unfair, there's no denying that it is from your point of view.
But this is how the world works, sadly ._. Most of our rules have had to be put into place because of people cheating in the past. Those are the people who have messed it up for the genuine, honest users. The ones out there who thought it would be clever to pretend to have a brother or sister, and spent lots of time talking back and forth between this fictitious relative, then sending all the gold from that account to their own and spending it..it's people like that who force us to implement these rules, and who make life difficult for those who follow on behind. We really are sorry that we have to be strict this this; but it's either that, or let the cheaters get away with earning twice as much as everyone else. Now that really would be unfair to everyone, wouldn't it? |
i was hoping this is a joke...
you are not allowed to chat with your own relative with the same IP?! that is just paranoia. i guess PMing solves that. |
This rule is in place to prevent people from talking to their mules, and it should stay that way. If you feel so inclined to talk to your sister one on one, AIM was invented for that purpose. It's not to keep you two apart, but just to keep people from gaining gold unfairly.
I don't know the extent of the rule, but I think you can be in the same thread and hold a conversation as long as it's not a one-on-one conversation. It's kind of stupid, but it's necessary, as Jelly explained. |
Well if you need to know of any threads where you could join in and chat with people I could happily reccomend a few ^^
Here's a few I hang out in where the people are very friendly: Fuyumi's Quest Thread Dessert's Exchange Thread That's 2 you can come in and hang out/chat in with a few people and maybe make some friends you can talk to. Sorry to hear you can't chat with her. But, if Menewsha didn't have the strict rules it does, it would be as screwed up as Gaia has gotten in the General Discussion forum. (Which is pretty bad last I checked) |
We have altered the rules involving siblings now. If people can give us 100% proof that their brother or sister is not a purely fictitious gold earner, then they're free to hang out in the same threads and RP together.
But they MUST give us proof. |
Same old problem but still I understand the whys.
I have to share my ip means my internet connection with all my students because I have a classroom with many computers (thank god not all of them are in this sites and some have computers at home) but thing is in my country sharing connections with neighbors is a must (not only that but cable tv and in some cases even phone) due to costs (i live in a 3rd world country where our currency is 3 to 1 with dollar due to devaluation so it is a disaster... I have explained all that to the admis or mods since I appeared to have 4 accounts mine, my husband's and two more (one for my 15 year old neighbor and her friend who eventually goes to her house and chats there) it is complicated but I provided evidence . But I had a conversation with the girls, it was pretty uncomfortable because it was liek I had to tell them "look you guys better behave or they will think bad of me and they will ban me or something and i will kill you both hehe " well I was joking but yeah I asked them to go their own ways and dont follow me because I really appreciate being here and I dont want problems because of this. I remember once one of them had a problem because she had arranged with a friend from Holland to exchange their names and all and who did the mods go to inquire first? ME! yeah old me and see i didnt even know what they were talking about till I talked to them and saw what this kids were doing (long story) btu I felt like, im not her mother I barely know her...and I told the mod that if I had to ask them not to go to the site anymore I would...though that would be pretty sad...it is complicated...really for me...because we pay half of the bill and for the admins or mods cause it is hard to deal with I guess.... |
