Forget optical illusions! Let's try auditory illusions! :D
Just a moment ago, I popped on headphones and listened to "A Virtual Haircut." I got chills listening to the illusion of someone walking about, clipping my hair, and having a conversation with me.
After learning how senses like sight and hearing works, I find it mind blowing to see how people find ways to trick your brain. The virtual haircut was amazing. I could seriously feel someone putting a bag over my head. It was freaky. o_o;;
The matchbox one annoyed me, though. I seriously tried more than once to snatch the virtual matchbox out of the virtual person's hands and beat him/her over the head with it. XD Seriously, who dances around someone while shaking a matchbox!? >.<; |

At first my mind believed it, I was.. Kinda surprised, a little.. Don't know, concerned I guess. Then my mind just blocked out the entire thing, it was weird. Even with my eyes closed. |

Whoa, that was really neat. I got startled a lot and kept cringing away form things when they "came close" to my ears.
So cool! I love our brains, they do such cool things with incoming information. |

My favorite was the matchbox one. I kept thinking that I should be seeing that stupid thing. It was like a ghost was shaking an invisible matchbox at me x___x Edit: Silly me, forums use BBcode, not HTML. |

OMG!! When the door opened and closed at the beginning I SWORE it was the door in my room. I actually looked around my room to see if anyone did anything xD
Dammit the sounds are actually scary because when I close my eyes I swear that they are actually doing it to me!! Also I got scared when he whispered in my ear near the end. I must have looked so stupid because I was really cringing while I listened to this demonstration. |
Oh my god.. Oh my god. I started shaking when they put the bag on my head.. I've got the shakes, now! But.. My speakers must be backwards or something. When they said left, it was on my right, and when they said right it was left. >< I think it ruined the experience for me. Edit: Oh! I forgot the headphones part. :oops: >>; Well, I'll go get them. |
Oh my god, that was crazy xD I started waving off the shears and razor, and I was following his voice with my head! The plastic bag bit WAS rather creepy...

Lol, the virtual haircut scared me. I kept thinking he was going to try to kill me. And when he put the bag over my head I was like OMG. I couldn't even keep my eyes closed the whole time. xD

@Uzura: I also wished that he hadn't whispered at the end because that really freaked me out!!
@Virtual: I also couldn't keep my eyes closed the whole time, even though I really wanted to. It started to feel too real when I had my eyes closed and so I had to open them to make sure that I was still in my room xD I think I will listen to the other ones now, I hope they aren't as freaky. |

Extraordinary.
I really enjoyed the virtual haircut, though I must admit I was quite frightened he was going to try to cut my ear off with that razor. And the women's voice amused me, if it had been a man I probably would've been a bit creeped out. Sounded a bit pedoish if you ask me. x3;; |
