"Easy." Charlie shook her head "It's not going anywhere. Just be patient. Anyone would think you'd never had desert before...you have had desert before?"

Nicole couldn't help but laugh. "Oh of course I've had desert before," Said Nicole. "My mom used to make cheesecakes, fudge, that sort of thing. And my school had Jello cups, and sometimes icecream."

Charlie nodded with a smile "Then patience" She comanded in good humour. "All things come in time. Desert is on it's way" And sure enough once the tables were clear large bowls of treacle pudding were handing down and a jug of custard made it's way around the table too.

"What is this stuff?" Asked Nicole when a bowl made it's way to her. "I've never had it before," She poked her finger into it and licked stuck it in her mouth. "It tastes delicious though," She added.

"It's cake. Treacle sponge cake. Very yummy." She smiled and drenched hers in custard. "You've never had it before? Oh you are in for a treat at this school." She smiled.

Nicole put custard on her Treacle pudding and took a bit, instantly falling in love. "I think this would taste good, even with glass in it," She said through a mouthful of the stuff. "Like seriously, this is the best thing I've ever had- so far, that is. I can only imagine what else this place cooks up."

Charlie laughed "I think comming here has to be the best choice you ever made." She smiled and picked up her own spook, giving her pudding a glance before she began to eat. Cooling it first so she didn't burn her mouth. Pudding tasted so much better when you weren't worried about burning yourself.

"I think you might be right," Said Nicole. She ate in silence, finishing her pudding a few minutes later. "I think that was actually the best dinner I've ever had. The cool thing is, I'll be able to say that after every meal here, if it's always this amazing," She grinned at the thought.
"Of course, the novelty's bound to wear off eventually. In about ten years, maybe," She laughed, leaning back in in her chair and covering and mouth as she yawned. "I think if I go to sleep, I'll be out for about a week." |
Charlie nodded and ate her pudding slowly. After she was done she replied "The novelty will wear off, I'm sure." She paused and smiled "So enjoy it while it lasts." Once again the bowls were handed down to the end of the table and the students began to walk out.

Nicole stood from her chair and stretched once more. "Hey, I'm gonna go get some fresh air outside, did you want to come with me?" Asked Nicole, watching as the majority of the students left the dining room.

She shrugged "Sure." She agreed standing up and walking with Nicole. "Are you missing home yet?" She asked curiously. "Most people here seem to miss it."

As the walked, Nicole shrugged at her question. "Not all that much," She muttered. "I loved my mom, but I was tired of her snapping at me all the time. I could tell she was getting sick of all the accidents I had with my energy balls, and I honestly think that me coming here was for the better."
Soon they reached the front doors and Nicole pushed them open, taking in a breath of the cool night air. "It's so beautiful out here," She commented, looking up at the stars. "The stars, and scenery. It's all just amazing." |
Charlie nodded "That it is. It's almost as though if you stand in the middle of it and just let yourself go, you can hear the world talking to you. Whispering all the secrets just beyond your grasp." She smiled "I love how beautiful it is out here."

Nicole smiled, almost losing herself as she stared up at the sky. "You know...Out of everyone in this school, I'm glad it was you that was sitting on the steps that called out to me," She said quietly, almost as if not to disturb the stars above.

Charlie looked at her and smiled "You are?" She asked "Thank you." Her voice had also quietened. "I'm glad you found us." She looked back out into space once more.

Nicole suddenly found herself yawning. She looked down at her wristwatch and whistled. "It's pretty late," She said. "It's past ten. We should probably get in bed, especially me, I don't want to be late on my first day of classes."

Charlie startked out of her trance looked up at Nicole then nodded "Yeah, I guess your right." She nodded "Comeon, want to see if you can find your way back?" She asked with a smile.

"You just love testing me, don't you?" Asked Nicole with a laugh as she pushed open the front door, startled by the silence that met her. "Wow, this place is like a funeral home at night. It's almost eerie," She commented, shivering slightly.
"Reminds me of the setting of a horror movie just before the bad guy jumps out and chainsaws one of the main characters to death," She whispered, shivering again. It didn't help the fact is was fairly dark in there, as the lights were turned off. She stopped and got behind Charlie. "Alright, on second thought, you lead the way. Promise that if some chainsaw guy jumps out, you'll heat him to death, or something, alright?" She asked nervously. "I'm a big chicken when it comes to horror movies, and I always tend to freak myself out- like I just did." |
Charlie shrugged "Shouldn't be too difficult. You know all liquid has a boiling point, even blood?" She looked at Nicole with a half smile so it was impossable to tell if she was being truthful or just kidding. "Don't worry though, the only person likely to jump out at you is some insomniac muttering that they can't sleep so they're off to watch tv or go for a run." She laughed and led the way upstairs.
"I've never seen a horror movie." She added as an afterthought. "I doubt they're good for your health though if they make you scared of a hallway." |
Nicole shivered at the thought of boiling blood. "And horror movies may be scary, but they're really fun to watch. And I'm not scared of hallways, thank-you-very-much." She stuck her tongue out in a playful manner at Charlie. "It's what could be lurking in a hallway that is the scary part. Like braineating spiders, or killer hobos."

Charlie laughed. Killer hobos? I would love to see it. Can you imagine them taking on this school. Lets see I can boil or freeze blood, others can pick you up with their minds, fireballs.... I think we're probably safer here than if the entire military camped out on our lawn." She chuckled as they headed up the stairs.
"So are we going to stop being scared of imaginary demons?" She asked. "The hallways are safe. Unless you're scared of wood pannelling." |
Nicole couldn't help laugh as Charlie spoke. "I suppose you're right- we are pretty safe here," She said, grinning. "But oh no! Wood pannelling, my archenemy!" She exclaimed in mock-horror.

Charlie couldn't help but burst into laughter at that. "I'd just set it on fire, so maybe you should go first." She spluttered through her laughter.

"Mkay!" Said Nicole, getting in front of Charlie, eyeing the wood pannelling suspiciously. The two crept along silently down the hall, Nicole not really wanting to wake up any of the other students. Soon they reached the room and Nicole opened the door, thankful to e in the room again.
She went over and sat on the bed, pulling the covers up to her and snuggling into them. "G'night, Charlie," She said, already dozing off. |
Charlie nodded "Good night." Taking her time changing into her night clothes before finally getting into bed herself for the night. She drifted to sleep almost immediatly after she laid down.
