Giving out Valentines - but don't take it seriously!

Doesn't everyone love receiving candy and cards?

Well, I LOVE my friends so much. But I have more guy friends than girls.

I bought some valentine candy and cards... but when I opened them, I was shocked.

I know little kids buy these to give them out at school too. So what's with the really suggestive valentine message on the candy? "Let's Chat" "What's your #?" Or am I just sensitive (I've always been single for Valentine's Day, lol)

Some hilarious ones, Starburst:
You make my mouth water
Oh so Juicy~
You're my favorite flavor

I can't seem to remember what I was thinking when I gave Valentines to guys back when I was in elementary school. I actually started having crushes this year... and I can't bring myself to give them any of the valentines except the ones that say Happy Valentine's Day.

XP

SO, what do you guys think when giving out Valentines to all your friends, of both sexes?
Of opposite sexes?
To your crushes? (but not revealing that you have a crush on them)

And since I'm still in High school (a junior) does everyone still look at Valentines for the candy and ignore the embarrassing sayings on the wrapper?
Do you laugh at the lame pickup lines on the wrappers?

KeiraRose 02-14-2008 02:22 AM

I mainly just give out chocolate...so there are not lines/words on them x]

I laugh at the lame pick-up lines. I mean, who would actually say something like that? >___<

Rainbows 02-14-2008 02:25 AM

I see a cute, but highly made of cheese, pickup line, and giggle~

If you give them out to all of your friends, it's just candy!

One specific person, though, and...
(dot dot dot.)

Trouble!

d2hiriyuu 02-14-2008 02:32 AM

I give out food, but not much else. I am normally single all the months before V-day so nothing happens, and then in March somehow I get a boyfriend. Might happen again, it is weird, maybe earlier I hope but yeah, normally just friendly to everyone.

life in red and black 02-14-2008 02:34 AM

@KeiraRose - All the candy I bought this year have Valentine messages on the wrapper >.<

XxRAiNBoWS - I never give them to just a few people. It's always all my friends, because I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!

But the guy who I like... well I don't usually talk to him straight on... so it might seem weird if I give him candy... >.< Oh well, I've gotta try!

WishingMoon 02-14-2008 02:39 AM

I wish I could do something for my friends. Saddly life, in many ways, has gotten in the way.

Snarry 02-14-2008 02:44 AM

>.< I just got a valentine with a woman that I work with....she is so sweet. :)

Sadistix_Love 02-14-2008 02:46 AM

Ugh, it stopped with the candy and cards once I reached gr. 8. I missed getting all of those cards and free chocolates! They are so fun to look at. >w>;;

I normally find the most childish valentines and send those. Usually something along the lines of Disney princess', Sponge Bob, or Blues Clues. I just think they're cute, they're not suggestive and they come with stickers.

Stickers make everything way better.

life in red and black 02-14-2008 02:56 AM

@ aphrodite remix- For my BEST friends, I'm giving pretty goodies bags with Valentine stickers, candies, and pixiestixs that came with cards. All tied with a nice pretty Valentine's Day ribbon <3

@d2hiriyuu - I've always been single, but I'm happy for my friends who have a Valentine.

@WishingMoon - I agree. I haven't been spending as much time with my friends as I would like since my schoolwork load began killing me (I'm an overachiever compared to most of my friends)

@Snarry- Aww! Hmm... I should give one to the kid who works for my parents~

@Sadistix_Love - I just hope my friends don't get too hyper with all the candy I'm stuffing them with <3

+lieforrenn 02-14-2008 03:06 AM

I don't really favor in giving out Valentines that much...but I think all the catchphrases I received and distributed were equally cliche. Well, something retarded like: BEE MY VALENTINE. Or something. :/

They lack creativity.

life in red and black 02-14-2008 03:09 AM

@+lieforenn - True, my friends probably won't be just getting candy and cards from me alone.

aphrodite remix 02-14-2008 03:10 AM

That sounds very cute, and very extravagant. We don't really celebrate V-day all that much. We're more about St.Patty's day. Mucho green beer <3.

+lieforrenn 02-14-2008 03:15 AM

St.Patrick's day is annoying for me. I always forget to wear green. And then some idiot who remembers comes up and pinches me. After he/she leaves, more of their kind comes and repeats the process. I kinda like V-Day better. You don't get pinched. Yeah, someone might spit on your candy, but pinching is worse.

And candy has wrapppparrr. ^ ^

Yeah I wasn't a fan of pinching, but I always wear this green bead bracelete, I've had it on for years never taken it off, and I have green eyes so I use that as an excuse heh, I'm a cheater.

life in red and black 02-14-2008 03:27 AM

@+lieforren - I always get pinched because I always wear something really small like a pin or a bracelet for green... and the person always pinches me before I can defend for myself... On St. Patricks, because I LOVE my friends so Much, I bring green stickers so my friends can be spared the pinching.

people spit in your candy? O.O!

@aphrodite remix - actually, it isn't that celebrated here, but I like to do a lot for my friends, especially for holidays that aren't super religious. I'm Atheist, and Valentine's Day (ignoring all the marketing) is a day celebrating love and friendship.

And yes, you're cheating! You're supposed to be wearing green. Of course, you can lie and say they're your contacts... ;)

+lieforrenn 02-14-2008 03:32 AM

@ life in red and black: Yep, people spit on my candy.

I don't get that though...I think they accidentally? But that's kinda strange if they spit...o-o

aphrodite remix 02-14-2008 03:33 AM

That's cool then ^^. Usually I just get a whole lot of chocolate half price the next day. My friends generally are too busy during the week,a nd I am for that matter.

@+lieforrenn Nan I just saw that "Bee My Valentine" Simpsons, when Ralph gets it from Lisa.. ahahahah that made me laugh ^^

+lieforrenn 02-14-2008 03:34 AM

@ aphrodite: LOL, what a coincidence! That is funny. ^ ^

life in red and black 02-14-2008 03:39 AM

I love Simpsons! My school is selling this giant Valentine's Day balloon of Homer holding, I think it was a box of chocolates. It's those close crop balloons so the shape looks like homer, too.

+lieforrenn 02-14-2008 03:49 AM

awesome~ People at my school kind of gave up on the entire Valentines thing. Middle schoolers are lazy. ^ ^

My brother's lucky though. Elementary kids ge LOTS and LOTS of candai on V-Day. Kinda not fair considering that they have to give Valentines to everybody if they decided on bringing them. What if you just plainly don't like the person? >__>

Cows Go Moo 02-14-2008 03:50 AM

I used to do pass out candy and cards in elementary school too, but that was usually me being nice XD. I mean I'd do it this year, but no one does that anymore and it might reveal the wrong message if I don't give the right candy/card.

@aphrodite remix: Haha, I like St. Patrick's Day too! I've never been pinched though, usually cause I try to wear green. Unfortunately I'm too young to drink :O, so I stick to green soda XD.

life in red and black 02-14-2008 03:52 AM

@+lieforrenn - I remember my lil sister was in elementary school while I was in middle school and she pitied me and gave me her HUGE haul of candy ^o^

Middle school was like that. I got very little candy from my friends during those years. I hate that rule that says that if you bring in something, you have to bring it in for everyone.

Then everyone says 'screw it' and doesn't bring in anything at all.

Gamersdreams 02-14-2008 03:52 AM

I give them to both. I was always so picky on the ones I gave out with those weird sayings.

+lieforrenn 02-14-2008 03:55 AM

@ life in red in black: Wao, you're so lucky to have such a cute little sister. ^ ^ My brother brags to me. He rubs it in my face and eats slow-mo while he chews so that I see every bit of it. T^T Not fair~ D:
