I got my report card a week or two ago. None of my teachers said you need more improvement, but then again, only 3 or so of them actually wrote stuff. Ok, so about teachers, what's really annoying is I don't really like this teacher, but my sister had her in the past, so my mom and my sister love her =______= I get in the B range for math as well, but the good thing is most people got in the B range except for the super smart people that are perfect at everything and are going to compete in Math Counts [a math competition and if you are in the top 8 of the whole school you can be part of the Math Counts' team]. As for bad experience with teachers, I don't really talk with my teachers but a lot of them I really don't like.
|
None of my teachers really told me that because I got mostly A's. They probably thought that I was trying my hardest. [I wasn't really, I should've put more effort into studying and stuff xD] |
Your teacher probably realizes that you could achieve an 'A' and wants to encourage you to try harder. You may be doing better then the rest of the people in the class, but does that mean you are doing the best you could be?
|
It kind of sounds like the teacher feels you can do better, I would take it as a compliment. I once had a teacher tell me I was border line B/C in English class and he wasn't giving me the B because he knew I could do better and he was right, I did better the next quarter.
|
My teachers hate me XD
Maybe it's because I never do any work. Or maybe because I talk through all of my classes. Or even because I'm a smartass. We will never know. |
most of the time I bet you their satisfaction level is filled, especially since you do all the assignments that they ask for. They probably just don't want you to suddenly stop working just because you're good or something. I think you're doing great, but a little pressure helps you glide. ;d

Great grades. Don't listen to them. Comments like that aren't going to help you. You're more likely to improve (in my opinion) if she/he told you that you are performing well and there will be no limit for your work.
I got one B, eight Cs and two Ds. Count yourself lucky. My sister works her socks off and will be lucky to get better than me. Some people are maybe slightly better than others naturally.. My advice: Don't let one teacher get you down. In fact, don't let anyone of them get you down. All but one A is perfect. |
Maybe the teacher was trying to get at the fact that you are fully capable of getting A marks...and that there's always room for improvement.
|
It depends on the people. AND you can make your choice whether to listen to the comments or not. They can tell you "you rock", or "you suck my ass", but they cannot make you think that way. So basically whether you accept them or not is up to you. Actually both ways work. :/

When I started eighth grade, I thought it was pretty easy and got my first straight A's in my whole entire Middle School years. I mean it was my first time I was totaly happy! But when I got home and showed my mom and dad, my dad said something about not caring and was caring about the next report card making me mad at him. I don't know but I was really mad.

Haha, my teachers in highschool would have loved it if I bothered to do enough homework to get a B in their classes. Hell, they probably were praying to be able to get me a C.
I was one of those smart kids who couldn't be bothered to show up or do homework. The only classes I really bothered to do work for were my art classes, drama and Japanese. I'd show up for marine biology more often than not, but I never did homework for the class. It aggrevated the hell out of my teachers because they knew I was smart enough to make the grades but I never "applied" myself. College really changed things though, I think it was the free will aspect of it that really changed my behaviors. I wasn't forced to go, teachers gave me the respect I deserved and in return i handed in homwork, papers and got good grades. Really though, teachers shouldn't be picking on students who are already doing well in class, maybe they think you aren't picking up on concepts or rules as well as you ought to? I dunno getting a B is a pretty good thing in my mind, I'm awful at math. |
i use to get those in grade school. I didn't care. I never really cared too much about my grades since I knew I could do better, but I never could be bothered to study things I wasn't interested in.
|
i hate when they tell you did really well on like, an assignment or something, but then they tell you need to improve because you're not good enough. xD
|
those kind of saying usually isn't from my teacher..
usually it's from my mom, since our teacher don't care.. i mean, my class teacher is a bit racist...she usually focus on student's same race as she is.. |
Don't worry
Some teachers think that if everyone doesn't make an A then they need to be taught a lesson.... But in 8th grade last year I had a Science teacher who claimed that she 'LOST' my science board and then didn't even give me my whole grade! Further more it involved matches and she told me she didn't care that it involved matches, she STILL wanted me to bring it and present it to class! Of course I never did seeing as I would get OSS or expelled if I were to since it would be considered a weapon.... But I got a 100 because my mom was insistent that our assistant principle would get me the grade that I deserved ;D |
Heh. It's really good for teachers to encourage students to reach full potential, but sometimes they step over some lines. Sometimes a student is working at their full potential. Sometime a subjects just isn't our forte. Sometimes, tests have nothing to do with potential.
In fact, very seldom do tests have anything at all to do with potential. :/ |
Maybe who got less then a B had a note like " Losers..." xD
Maye she thinks you can do better then that =O |
Things like this depend on the teacher. I've had some teachers tell me that they didn't feel I was putting enough effort in. And I've had other teachers bump my grade a little because they said they could tell I had really been working hard.
Some teachers expect a lot and some teachers don't. Maybe you should talk to that teacher, and tell him/her that you have been working hard. It is possible that they're just one of those teachers who feel compelled to put some comment and they couldn't think of anything else. |
I know where you're coming from. My parents were totally like "WTF A-?! EPIC FAIL!!11! YOU'RE NOT GOING TO GO TO A GOOD COLLEGE!!11!" And it'll be on like a test or a quiz. :/
They're better now. But now I'm the one going "EPICFAILWTF A-?!" D: I have mini-heart attacks over stuff like that, which is ridiculous. And I can't say I've ever had a teacher like that. :] Then again, I've never, ever not done my homework or not studied for a test/quiz. ... So yeah. Lol. |
Don't worry about that. It's probably because the teacher likes you and thinks that you can do way better than the majority of the class. So I guess you could try to prove her right...unless you're already working your tail off. A B is very good anyway(especially for math).
|
Yuh. I am working my tail off. I study and do all of the assignments and turn them in on time. And I make up for any missed points with extra credit.
|
I dont even mind critism because I know it is right what is being said.
Im not good enough. I need to improve my skills. |
My teachers enjoy taking off random little points off of tests just so you can get a B+ instead of an A-.
I got a B in my Algebra class last quarter just because she would like to take full credit off of an answer if you only got a little bit of the problem wrong. So, pretty much, I had an 89 in the class, and if I had gotten a little bit better score on only one test, I would've gotten an A. It's upsetting, because then my parents see a B and not an A or even a B+ (Which technically was my grade) and they think I'm not doing well, or well enough. Atleast I went up a grade in two classes... |
