LaRae tilted her head slightly when she heard Kanone say that she'd be able to put her feet down in a few seconds. She hadn't thought the water level was going down, then again she really hadn't focused on it. She was relieved though when she felt her feet brush against the floor and then she was finally able to stand. She relaxed her hold on Nanashi once they were both standing, or trying to stand. She kept her eyes on Nanashi and watched him quietly, at least until she heard Hikari yelp. Of course that made her look in her direction. She shifted her glance again when Kanone took Nanashi's spetum. Of course she was curious as to what he needed to borrow that for, then again... it was probably for whatever was in the water. She finally looked back to Hikari once more since she'd made it over to Nanashi while she was busy looking after Kanone. She was kind of relieved that Hikari had come over. With her here that likely meant she'd be willing to do something about the condition that Nanashi was in. Now that the water was receding like it was she took a moment to look over at her arm again. This time she didn't bother looking away before she saw it. She cringed as soon as she got a good look at it. Considering how bad it looked she wasn't surprised in the slightest that it felt like it may have gone numb and she couldn't move it. She tried to clench her hand into a fist and barely even got a twitch out of her fingers. She gave a heavy sigh and glanced back to Hikari again. "...You're going to be able to heal him, right?"
Nero sighed heavily when he caught sight of that dark spot in the water moving again. He guessed it wasn't ready to come after him again. He noticed that it wasn't moving quite as fast as it had been before. Maybe a couple more whacks would slow the thing down to a snails pace. He shook his head lightly when he noticed the thing go towards Hikari and manage to hit her before it changed directions. This thing, which he was guessing was a fish of course was really starting to annoy him. He sighed again as he looked down at the water level. It was already just below his waist, close to his thighs and still lowering. "You do know I couldn't drop you even if I wanted to, Celestine." He paused. "You're the one holding onto me." He told him quietly. Kyran had already started to try and get to his feet once the water level had been low enough for him to get to his feet. He hunched over not too long after he was on his feet and quickly found even that to be uncomfortable since his back was bothering him as well. He groaned quietly while he pressed his arm over his midsection and tried to straighten up as much as comfortably possible. He immediately looked in Hikari's direction when he heard her yelp. Already he wished he'd gone with her or something so that maybe she didn't have to get hit by that thing too. Aamori collided with what was left of the glass and wound up partly inside the tank that originally held the water, before the fish busted it open. She had the wind knocked out of her to begin with when the fish headbutted her. Any air she by chance could have had left would've escaped when she hit the glass and wound up with a few shards of glass lodged in her back. She started to inhale to catch her breath, her eyes opened wide and she halted the action when she realized she was still underwater. It slipped her mind briefly after hitting the glass that she was still under the water. She panicked a little and wanted nothing more than to try and get herself out of the tank she was halfway laying in and to the surface for air but found that difficult when she was disoriented and couldn't breathe. The barracuda paused when he got a decent enough distance from the opening that he wasn't being pulled towards it. The last thing he wanted was to go flopping down those steps. He noticed immediately when the other wind dragon moved again and started towards what he assumed was the water dragon that he'd attacked again. He contemplated going after that wind dragon while he wasn't with anyone else. It didn't take him very long to decide that he wanted to attack him regardless. He started to dart over in the wind dragons direction and prepared to angle his body just as he got close enough so that he could slam his body into the wind dragon. |
Nanashi was slightly relieved when the water started to recede further. He thought it would feel better on his wounds if they weren't drowning in salt water, though he couldn't help but make a few slightly disgruntled sounds when the air hit his raw flesh after it had already grown used to the salt water. "Nnngh! Nnn..." He gritted his teeth a little more and then slowly opened his eyes again so that he could see what the damage was. His eyes widened when he saw his grated torso and he stared blankly at the multiple lacerations. Now that the water wasn't in the way he could see just how bad it looked and he watched as she blood oozed out of one of the deeper cuts near the top and down over his arm that he still held firmly in place. He felt nearly sick looking at it. Normally blood didn't bother him, but knowing this was all that was left of his midsection...was almost sickening. He felt his head swimming again as the nausea rose both from the sight and the pain, but he fought it down. His face seemed to grow a couple of shades lighter than usual as his head slumped and he took in a few more deep breaths. He had barely even noticed Kanone help himself to half of his weapon. he was only half aware of what planet he was on at the moment. He was used to seeing himself pretty messed up but...well this took the cake. He was still trembling violently, mostly from cold, but partially from shock and fatigue. It wasn't but a few seconds after LaRae had asked Hikari if she could heal him that his legs gave out and if not for the fast that he and LaRae were holding onto one another he would have just hit the floor.
Hikari looked at LaRae and then nodded slightly in answer to her question. She was glad to see that the water was going out so quickly...that was a good thing for Nanashi. She gasped when he started falling and quickly threw her arms around him as well, though she was careful to keep above his wounds. "Nanashi, stay with me here, now's not the time to go passing out!" she said quickly, though she knew he couldn't really help it if he did. She sighed softly in relief when Nanashi seemed to find his footing again and tried to remain standing. She let go of him and reached down to her pack, opening it quickly and stuffing her hand inside to search for the stuff that Taro had given her to help her heal. This was a lot of area to cover and there were still several others who could use help. She just wanted to stop Nanashi's bleeding now, especially since he was so pale ab obviously spent. Once she had out the right container she opened it and got a bit on her hand before she closed the container and dropped it back into the pack. She then carefully pulled Nanashi's arm away from his midsection so she could spread the ointment over the wounds or at least the worst of it. Her hand was covered in blood by the time that she was done and she really wished that she had the means to clean all of those out thoroughly before she did this, but she didn't really have time. She just held her hand over his middle and started to concentrate as the aura surrounded her hand. She was at least glad that the ointment helped the process along and she didn't need to use quite so much energy. She had a feeling she was going to need all she could get. Celestine cringed when Hikari yelped and absently tightened his grip on Nero again, but he loosened it relatively quickly. Judging by the way her yelp was just an 'ow' he didn't think that she was hurt too badly, and that was confirmed when he looked up to see her getting over to Nanashi. He looked back to Nero again briefly when he said that he couldn't drop him if he wanted to. Well...that was a good thing he supposed. "...but you let me..." he said in a voice just above a whisper. He was sure if Nero wanted rid of him he'd he able to pry him off. He could already feel that the water was receding quickly, so by now he could probably stand and have the water at his chest. So long as his head was well above water he was....mostly alright with the idea. Since the water was going down it wasn't quite as frighting as it was when it was going up. He knew by now since move of him, probably about all but his legs were out of the water that he probably weighed a ton with all of the excess water in his wings and hair. Finally, he slowly started to shift his grip so that his arms weren't wrapped around Nero's neck and he could just cling to his shoulders. Once he was positioned like that he slowly started to lower himself down into the water, slowly as in he was afraid it was deeper than it looked like. He felt for the floor and once he found it he realized that he was indeed going to be well above water, at least up to his shoulders. He continued to cling to Nero's shoulders for a moment before he let go reluctantly and stood there chest deep in the water. He closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths before opening them again...just in time to see the black thing darting toward something kind of greenish under the water, which almost had to be Kanone since...he was the only other green thing around here. "Kanone!!" Unfortunately he'd completely missed the fish getting a hold of Aamori again since he'd been watching Hikari. He didn't really know why he bothered to shout his name since he doubted he could really hear him under the water anyway, but it was just a knee jerk reaction. Kanone was almost to Aamori by the time the fish got to him, and he indeed saw it coming though...not very clearly. At least since it wasn't darting around as quickly as it had been so he had time to get ready. As it was turning to slam against him, he held the sharp end of the pole up toward it, though not entirely straight. He knew that he was going to be in a world of hurt if that thing hit him, but he sure as hell wasn't going down alone if he could help it. At the angle that he held the weapon if the fish didn't collide with it hard enough to impale itself on the thing then it was at least going to skid up along it's scales and probably ram into it's gills if he was lucky, since that was one area that would open if hit the right way from underneath and there couldn't possibly be scales in there to save it...or at least he sure as hell hoped not. The only thing really stopping that from happening was the little fin in front of the gills or if the fish...somehow managed some miraculous maneuver to keep the weapon from sliding or...something. He really just wanted to get to Aamori and make sure that she was alright since he could bet that she wasn't above water yet and he had a feeling that...would be a problem. |
LaRae smiled weakly when she saw Hikari nod in answer to her question. She was relieved that Hikari could heal him. She'd assumed that she would be able to, but assuming didn't always get you anywhere. She startled slightly when Nanashi's legs gave out under him. She instinctively tightened her grip on him, not wanting him to fall. She relaxed her hold on Nanashi a little once he had his footing again. She was glad that he hadn't gone and passed out. Holding him up while passed out with the water level lowering, that would be nearly impossible with only one arm.
Nero started to turn his head a little and glance back when he felt Celestine starting to get down off of his back. That was a relief, he was hoping that it wouldn't come down to forcefully removing him. He patiently waited until Celestine had gotten down and completely let him go before he turned slightly to look back at him. He was checking to see how high the water was on him and see how he was fairing with it. He turned his attention back to the water however when Celestine had called out his cousin's name. Of course he started looking around for what made him do that. He shook his head and sighed heavily when he saw the dark spot in the water headed for a green one, Kanone no doubt. At this rate that thing was going to have attacked everyone at least once. The barracuda didn't bother moving an inch from where he was aiming even when he realized that the wind dragon had a weapon. He knew there was no way that thing could penetrate his scales, no matter how sharp it was. He was barely even phased as the sharp end of the weapon skid down his scales. He was actually a bit smug since he knew that wouldn't do anything to him. He wasn't even paying attention to where the weapon was going. He'd assumed it would just skid right along his scales until it slid off his body all together. He came to a rather abrupt stop when he felt the sharp end of that weapon go into his gills. It took a moment for it to register fully that he had indeed been hit and yes, that was pain he was feeling. Moments later he started thrashing about frantically while trying to move in such a way that he might dislodge that weapon that was jammed in his gills. Even with his thrashing about he had enough mind to move away from the wind dragon who'd hurt him. He didn't need that dragon too close to him while he was trying to dislodge the weapon. |
Nanashi tried to keep himself steady as possible while he stood there, though he was still having a bit of trouble. He couldn't help but groan a little when Hikari started touching his wounds. That...did not feel good. Thankfully, things started to feel a little more manageable after she'd started healing him. He glanced down to his torso and watched as the wounds healed at that miraculous pace, though is ears twitched when he heard Celestine's panicked voice shouting at Kanone. He raised his head a little and then felt the maintenance cease for a moment and assumed that Hikari was looking around as well. He couldn't really focus well enough to see what was going on so he just looked down again. His wounds were mostly healed and only a few cuts remained from the deeper gashes. They hurt, but they weren't bleeding at the moment, he he was at least content with that. They did look as if they would leave some nasty scars if left alone, but that didn't really bother him. More to add to the pile.
Hikari continued to concentrate on Nanashi's wounds until he heard Celestine and then she lost her concentration and looked back to see what was going on. She spotted the thing in the water going for what must have been Kanone and then bit her lower lip. She didn't even want to watch that... She turned her head quickly and looked back to Nanashi's wounds, seeing that they were mostly gone. "I'll finish later," she told him before she started to move to LaRae's side. Her arm looked about as bad as Nanashi's midsection, so she thought she should really do something about that since once would bleed quite a lot from the arm if hit in the right spot. She had a gut feeling she was going to be healing Kanone soon, too, but she really needed to get to Kyran as well... She startled when she heard something going on behind her again and looked back to see what on earth had just happened. Kanone cringed when the monster fish started to flail and slacked his legs with it's tail. Well that kind of hurt, but not too bad. Oh no you don't you scaly bastard... He wasn't letting the thing get away from him either. Unfortunately for the fish, the tip of that spetum had two smaller points that curved out and slightly down from each side away from the main tip, so it was kind of hooked. He was trying not to get hit again but stay close enough that he could keep a firm hold on the spetum. Unfortunately he was starting to run out of air so he finally jerked the spetum out so that the point turned more inward and then pushed down as he stood up and put his feet on the floor again. He gasped as he resurfaced and then glowered down at the fish. Finally, he tightened his grip on the end of the pole and swung the fish around before he tried to sling the fish up over his head and fling it across the room and into the back wall. The fish was heavy, but nothing that he couldn't manage. He just hoped that the thing didn't come unhooked before he could toss it and if it didn't...well he kind of hoped it came loosed from the weapon before it went flying. Then again, if now, that was fine to. He could swim around with a spike in his gill for all he cared. As soon as he had a clear shot he made dove underwater again and hurried over to where Aamori had landed before he grabbed her up and carefully pulled her out of the tank before shoving her head up above the surface, quickly followed by his own. He wrapped his arms around her to hold her up and then gasped when he felt something bite into his arm...quickly realizing that it was glass. "Ow damn... Are you alright?" he asked quickly. He hoped so, that little rescue trip had ended up taking a minute longer than he'd meant for it to. The whole bout with the fish hadn't lasted too long, but it seemed like forever when you were under water. |
LaRae stood quietly, continuing to hold onto Nanashi while Hikari was healing him. She didn't bother trying to shift so that she could see her working. She didn't want to look at Nanashi's damaged torso while it was healing, that just... didn't sound like it would sit well with her stomach. It took a good deal to unsettle her stomach and she wasn't even sure that watching that would be enough to do it, but it sounded like it could. Her attention was caught when she heard Celestine. There hadn't been a whole lot coming from Celestine in the form of coherent words so of course her attention was easily snagged. She looked away when she heard Hikari tell Nanashi that she'd finish later. She stared at Hikari when she started to move over towards her and immediately removed her good arm from Nanashi and placed her hand over her wounded arm. She could already tell that Hikari was probably thinking that she'd work on her arm next. She really didn't think that was necessary right now. After all, there were others who could actually do something that could use her help right now. Kyran had taken a pretty bad beating and had been bleeding as well. Then Aamori too and both of them could at least fight with weapons and or magic. It didn't help matters that she was never too fond of receiving help to begin with. At the festival and when her wings were broken she didn't really have any other choice but to suck it up and let Hikari do her job. She shook her head a little as she looked at Hikari while turning her arm away from her. "You should help Kyran." She started. "My arm doesn't hurt and it doesn't look like it's bleeding too much right now." She paused. "I'll be okay, just... help someone else." She told her.
The barracuda continued to thrash about as much as it possibly could and even panicked a bit when he found he wasn't able to move away from the wind dragon. Having the sharp end of the weapon lodged in him wasn't comfortable at all and he didn't like it one bit. He paused in his moment only briefly when the sharp end in his gill shifted and then he started flailing again. He startled when he felt the wind dragon swing him around and then before he knew it he was out of the water and being flung across the room. As soon as he was over the dragon's head and sent sailing the sharp end of the weapon ripped through him and he sailed across the room free from the weapon. His massive body smacked into the stone wall and then dropped into what water was remaining in the room with a splash and lay there unmoving. Aamori just barely registered when her head was above water. Had she not opened her eyes she probably wouldn't have noticed so soon. She sucked a breath in through her nose quickly since she still had water in her mouth and then turned her head away from Kanone while she coughed and spit up water in a rather unladylike manner. She had inhaled water when that fish rammed her chest so she needed to expel what she could before she did anything else. She continued to cough hard for a moment before she even tried to regulate her breathing past quick inhales of air. She turned her eyes back up at Kanone as she took in a couple more breaths and nodded her head weakly. She was completely oblivious to the fact that she had glass in her back so of course she thought that she was alright, aside from the lack of air moments prior. |
Hikari watched the fish go flying back against the wall and hit the water without moving. Well...it was either dead or knocked cockeyed, but either way, it was a good time to get aroudn to everyone. She let out an exasperated sigh when LaRae refused to let her get to her arm. "LaRae, just hold still and let me work, I'm already standing here!" she said irritably, in a tone that pretty much said 'don't argue with me right now', "I will get to everyone, it's going to take me more time to go back and forth and even more time if you stand here and argue with me about it, now give me your arm and hold still before that thing gets up and makes things more difficult!" she insisted as she swept her hand across her shorts to clean it off so that she wouldn't spread Nanashi's blood on LaRae. Her shorts were already ruined, so she didn't care to leave a nice smeared hand print on her leg. She started to get out the ointment again and started to open it as if she intended to do with whether LaRae liked it or not.
Nanashi blinked when he saw the fish go flying across the room and smack into the wall and then turned his attention to LaRae and Hikari. He sighed heavily and reached over to place his hand lightly on LaRae's good arm. "LaRae..." he said quietly, "Please..." He only half gathered what they were talking about, but by Hikari's tone he had a feeling that if she lost this argument she wasn't going to be too patient with LaRae, and if that thing had gotten her arm as bad as it had gotten his torso then he would feel a lot better if it was taken care of now because...that kind of bled a lot. Celestine stared Kanone when he came out of the water, seemingly unharmed and then tossed the fish into the wall. He looked at the fish for just a moment before he started to try to get over to Kanone and Aamori. The water was dropping quickly to his waist, but it was still hard to move through. He hadn't even realized that anything had happened to Aamori, so he was rather concerned with getting to her as well. At least it seemed he was starting to get his head back a little now that the water was going down and there were people hurt...that was a little more important for him to worry about at the time. Kanone held onto Aamori while she coughed, not saying a word about it. For a moment he looked back to the fish and sighed with satisfaction when he saw that it wasn't moving. He hoped he killed the damn thing. He looked back to Aamori again while she continued to hack and couch and reached down carefully to try to remove some of the glass from her skin. Another movement caught his eyes and he looked up to see Celestine starting in this direction. "Stay over there, there's glass on the floor!" he called to him quickly. He didn't want to pull glass out of Celestine's feet, he was shuddering just pulling it out of Aamori. He looked back to her again when she was finally able to answer him and smiled slightly with a nod. "Good... now hold really still and close your eyes alright? This may hurt..." he said quietly. He took a hold of another piece of the glass and carefully pulled it straight back. He did it quickly just in case Aamori moved since he didn't want it breaking off in the wound, but he was trying his best not to hurt her. |
LaRae turned her head slightly from looking after the fish that hit the wall to Hikari when she spoke. She applied more pressure to her arm absently because of the tone in Hikari's voice. She continued to stand there with her hand to her arm, turned away from her still and obviously by her stance she wasn't willing to budge on giving Hikari what she wanted. She still believed it would be better for Hikari to heal the others before her and if Hikari didn't want to be walking around 'back and forth' then she didn't have to. Honestly, she had two perfectly fine legs she could easily go where ever Hikari was after she'd healed everyone else. She didn't bother looking over at Nanashi when he touched her good arm. She sighed quietly after hearing him say please. She really didn't want to stand here and argue about this while Hikari could be taking care of someone else. She stared at Hikari after she'd fished out the ointment from her pack and gave a heavier sigh. "I already told you I can't feel anything, it doesn't hurt." She paused. "Save yourself from having to argue with me and help someone who is in pain." She muttered quietly. She knew her arm was cut up pretty badly from just below her shoulder to just above her wrist and had already bled enough that she had no feeling in her arm but she still wanted Hikari to work on someone else. She didn't like having to be healed no matter how badly she was hurt so it was going to take a lot more than Hikari's irritated tone of voice to get her to sit still long enough for Hikari to heal her and she had even intention of moving away if Hikari tried to do anything.
Kyran glanced over in Hikari's direction when he heard her tone and sighed when he gathered that LaRae must have been being difficult about being healed. Somehow... in the middle of all of this that didn't surprise him that much especially given the circumstances of how they all met. Since the fish seemed to be down for the time being he started to head over towards Hikari and the others. He was still hurting himself so he kept his arm over his midsection as he moved through the water that he was thankful was receding. Aamori didn't get the chance to react to the first piece of glass that was pulled from her back. She'd been too busy coughing and trying to catch her breath to do much of anything else. She stared up at Kanone for a moment after hearing him tell someone to stay where they were because of the glass on the floor. She assumed that he must have been talking to Celestine since he was the only one who had bare feet and would need to worry about the glass. She continued to look up at him while he told her to hold still and close her eyes. She had gathered that there was something in her back that he was trying to remove. She guessed it was probably glass since she'd hit that glass wall in front of the tank. She stared at him for a moment and then nodded weakly before she shut her eyes and leaned her head against him. She clenched her teeth together tightly and let out a quiet whine when she felt him pull a piece of glass out of her back. She couldn't see her back of course to see how many pieces of glass were there but it felt like there were at least three shards left. Her pain tolerance was still low so of course this was uncomfortable and a little painful, even if Kanone was trying to be quick about it. She lifted her hands slightly and took hold of part of his shirt in each hand since she knew he'd have to pull more out. |
Hikari gritted her teeth slightly in frustration and looked back to LaRae again, "LaRae, you're bleeding everywhere! Not being able to feel it is not a reason to ignore it, and it's definitely not a good thing! I told you, I will get to everyone, why do you insist upon being so difficult all of the time, it only makes things harder later," she tried to tell her in the most level voice that she could manage. She was clearly growing very impatient with LaRae. She knew that she needed to get to Kyran and Aamori as well, but Kyran's wounds, while bad, weren't quite as bad as what LaRae and Nanashi had received from those scales dragging across them for eight feet. She was trying to at least go in order here. Honestly she'd love nothing more than to run and tend to Kyran, but she wanted to get this out of the way first. She still hadn't noticed Kyran coming in their direction yet. She dipped her first four fingers into the ointment and got some out before closing the container carefully and setting it back in her bag again. She reached down to LaRae's good arm and gently pushed down on it, "Please, just stop stalling and let me get this over with, it doesn't take that long." Honestly if she hadn't felt the need to argue she could have already been nearly done by now, it'd take her about as long to wade her way back to Kyran as it would to heal LaRae's arm.
Nanashi looked at LaRae for a moment and lowered his eyes when she ignored him. He slowly removed his hand from her arm and then sighed quietly as he listened to Hikari go on. "...Why do you always have to be difficult?" he asked quietly, "...Do you enjoy making me worry?" That was almost what it seemed like. As noble as LaRae's reason for being stubborn sounded, it did only take her about a minute to heal his wounds and he knew now that LaRae's arm wasn't in any better shape than most of his midsection had been, so he didn't understand why she was arguing so hard against getting healed. He didn't like being healed all that much either, but if it was serious enough he sure as hell wouldn't complain about it. LaRae always did this, even back at the festival she'd managed to allow herself to nearly bleed to death before she would let Hikari help and she'd scared him out of his wits. And then again when her wings were broken she made him practically have to sit on her while Hikari and Aamori worked. Besides...they were kind of in the middle of something important, it was remarkable that Hikari even had the spare time to be doing this for them in the first place. He glanced away again and turned his head back to check on the fish to see what it was doing and then realized that it still hadn't moved. Maybe Kanone really had killed it? He sighed again. Well...he hoped so... It could be a long day for everyone if that thing came back at them again. Celestine came to a stop when Kanone told him not to come over there and then narrowed his eyes a little in concern as he bit down on his lip lightly. He watched as Kanone pulled the glass from Aamori's back and she clung onto his shirt. He could at least heal up the marks that the glass made if he was over there, but...then walking would be very difficult once they got back outside. Kanone kept his one arm wrapped around Aamori and pressed his hand to the back of her head lightly while he worked. He glanced down when she took a hold of his shirt and smiled weakly before he chanced a glance toward the fish. He sighed when he saw that it still hadn't moved and then looked back down to Aamori again and leaned forward a little to peek over her shoulder. He took a hold of the next piece of glass that he saw and slid it out carefully, shuddering afterward before he went for the next and then the last one with the same quick motions. "There...that's all I see," he told her quietly, "You alright?" he asked her as he gave her a gently hug. He blinked and looked around for a moment when he realized that he had two free hands. '...Wait a minute, where did I drop that thing?" He muttered to himself as he looked down. He'd apparently let his weapon fall when he went to haul Aamori out of the water. Oh well...he could find it once the water was gone. .... Come to think of it, he needed to get Celestine's swallow too, or Celestine would have his head. |
LaRae sighed after listening to Hikari. She wasn't sure she could come up with a reasonable answer as to why she insisted on being difficult. She didn't like being healed and that was always a good enough reason for her she never really bothered with why she didn't like being healed. She'd probably known at one point but she certainly didn't remember it right now. She was about ready to just move away from Hikari all together. She didn't have to give her any reason for why she didn't want to be healed and if she was annoying Hikari it was probably easier to just move away from her. She stared over at Nanashi when he asked his questions and she shook her head a little in disbelief. "...Of course I don't enjoy making you worry..." She paused. "...I can't believe you even thought that..." She mumbled quietly. She obviously didn't like worrying him and she fibbed to him about the state her arm was in to begin with just for that reason. She was debating with herself now. Leave it to Nanashi to say something that could have her reconsider letting Hikari heal her arm. She didn't want Nanashi worrying about her and Hikari had done a good job of pointing out her arm wasn't in good shape so going without any treatment from her would make it hard to make him not worry. She heaved a heavy sigh and shut her eyes while she turned her arm to face Hikari. "...Fine..." She mumbled in a defeated tone.
Kyran paused a couple steps from them once he'd gotten himself closer to where they were. On his way over he couldn't help but shake his head as he listened to them going back and forth. LaRae really did need to learn to get over being healed by Hikari. So long as they were on this trip, if she got hurt, Hikari was more than likely going to heal her. Hikari healed everyone when she could. He was at least a little relieved to see that LaRae was giving in finally, rather than fighting against it more. Aamori clenched her teeth and did her very best to keep still while Kanone pulled the remaining pieces of glass out of her back. At most she moved enough to tighten her grip on his shirt or bury her head into him more. When he said that was all he saw and asked if she was alright she loosened her grip on his shirt slightly, but didn't let go yet and then started to pull her head back from his body so that she could look at him. Tears had welled up in her eyes from the pain and she hadn't noticed. "...I-I think so..." She answered quietly. Nero glanced around a little since things had seemed to have quieted down. Well, minus the commotion between Hikari and LaRae. He finally looked back over at that fish that Kanone had chucked across the room. It still didn't appear to have moved and the water level had gone down more than enough for him to be able to walk in that direction easily enough. If anything he wanted to make sure that the fish was indeed dead and not just unconscious or something. For all he knew he was just being overly cautious, but he'd rather be safe than sorry. While he headed over there he flexed his hand with the brass knuckle on it. He still couldn't believe that damn fish had a strong enough defense to break the spikes of his weapon. That was one of the first times he'd ever had one of them break and he was still surprised. He paused when he made it over to the fish and stared down at it quietly. It still didn't look like it was moving, not even the gills had budged while he looked at it. He lifted his foot up and started to kick the tail end of the fish with his boot to see if it'd move. When it still didn't move he thought he'd kick it again, a little harder just for good measure. The barracuda hadn't moved an inch on it's own since it landed in the water after hitting the wall. He took the time to play dead so that he could get his senses straight again. Having that weapon rip through him at his gills and being thrown across the room hurt and it wasn't exactly something you jumped up from, not that a fish could jump. He knew when the one dragon neared him and he stopped breathing so that his gills wouldn't give him away. He had hoped the dragon would just walk away after inspecting him but no, the damn dragon had to go and kick him. It took everything he had not to give himself away at that moment. He gave up however when the dragon went to kick him a second time. He jerked his head up and sank his teeth into the dragons leg just above his boot. Nero winced when he felt the barracuda bite him but other than that made no noise. That damned stupid fish. He growled, sounding thoroughly annoyed and then balled his fist up tight and drew it back. He then slammed his fist down as hard as he could against the fishes head, forcing it to let him go. Once the fishes teeth were free of his leg and he was able to move back without the extra attachment he did, completely ignoring the fact that the fish lost a rather thick tooth in his leg. He glared down at the fish while it flopped around a little. It obviously didn't care too much for such a hard crack to the head. |
Hikari glanced at Nanashi when he spoke and then sighed softly when LaRae finally agreed to let her help. "Thank you," she said tiredly as she reached over to her arm and gently started to spread the ointment over her wounds, pulling it down with her hand as lightly as possibly while still being quick. Once she'd gotten it covered over decently she started to heal up the wounds as she had done to Nanashi. This time, just to avoid having to deal with LaRae again later, she healed everything that she saw now before she lowered her hand again. "There..." she said quietly. The entire process had only taken a couple of minutes at best, probably about the amount of time that she'd spent arguing with her. Once she was finished she wiped off her fingers again and then started to turn around, though she nearly startled when she saw that Kyran was right behind them. She sighed heavily and then looked at his torso and moved closer to him and got out the container again. This was the most she'd used this stuff so far and already she was getting a little low. She had been trying to go sparingly on it, but since everyone had so many serious injuries and she still had to be active for a bit she was trying to get it over with. She looked up to Kyran as she was getting out the ointment again and getting it on her hand, "And don't you say a word," she warned him just in case he felt the need to argue as well since he did tend to at times. She gently started to spread the ointment over his wounds as well, though she looked back quickly when she heard a bit of a commotion from the fish and saw Nero near it. She stared at it for a moment and then shook her head whens he realized that he'd been bitten. "Leave it alone, it'll suffocate eventually... I hope..." she muttered quietly. The water was all but gone, she didn't see how it could stay alive too much longer. She turned her attention back to Kyran again and started to get around to healing his wounds now. At least once she was finished with him all that was left was Aamori and Nero's legs...well and whatever else Aamori had hurt.
Nanashi looked back to LaRae again tiredly when she answered him and sighed quietly, "...Then stop refusing help when you need it..." he said quietly. He knew that she had been lying about her arm, part of him knew it all along but just couldn't seem to focus on it. When she finally gave in he started to reach over to her to put his hand on her shoulder again, but he stopped when he saw it and realized that it was coated in a few layers of his blood where he had been holding his middle. He turned it over to stare at it for a few moments and then lowered it back to his side and then looked down at his middle again. Even though the wounds were gone, he was still drenched in his own blood and his chest was very much exposed. So much for his brand new clothes. He looked up again slowly and finally noticed Kyran. He was about to take a step toward him to see if he was alright but as soon as he took one foot off of the ground he staggered and almost fell over, though he managed to catch himself before he fell. He was still extremely dizzy and light headed as well as much paler than he should have been normally. He took a few deep breaths and looked up to Kyran again with worry mixed in with that slightly dazed expression. He opened his mouth to asked if he was alright, but closed it without making a sound. That would just be a stupid question. He could tell by looking at him that he wasn't quite alright. He glanced to Hikari when she switched from LaRae and immediately went to tending to Kyran. Well at least he was being looked after, that was a relief at least. Kanone nodded slightly and turned his attention back to Aamori when she answered him. He sighed when he saw the tears in her eyes and raised his hand to her face, gently running his thumb over her eyelids to clear away the tears before he leaned forward and pressed his lips lightly against her head. "Don't cry... I think it's dead now..." he said quietly. He released her then and backed away slightly, looking around the floor now that the water was low enough and finally spotted the bottom end of Nanashi's spetum. He picked it up out of the water and then glanced over to the fish and Nero when he noticed that he was over there bothering it. He just smiled when it didn't move after being kicked, though he startled when the thing clamped down on his leg. "Ahh! Damn don't you ever fucking die!?" he snapped at the fish as he gripped the weapon tightly in both hands. Maybe he needed to go stab it in the other gill. Celestine looked at Nero as he started over to the fish and then watched him closely as he kicked it. Even at this he didn't like that he was kicking the thing's dead carcass. Or well, supposedly dead. He jumped back when it bit Nero and then fell over backwards from the weight of his drenched wings tugging him back. That was almost like wearing a back pack filled to the brim with encyclopedias, it was very hard to keep balanced easily. He blinked when he moved his hand an felt it brush against something in the water, which was now only inches deep. He quickly recognized it as the strap to his swallow and grabbed for the center before he started to push himself up again with a bit of difficulty. He held the swallow tightly in his hands and then looked across to the fish and Nero again, "Are you alright!?" he called to him quickly once he was back on his feet again. He knew he still had his blades that he could use, but he really didn't want to after seeing what happened to Nero's brass knuckles and Kanone seemed to be doing well with half of Nanashi's weapon for right now, so he thougth he'd hang onto it until Kanone needed it. |
LaRae stared at the floor quietly while Hikari started to spread the ointment on her arm and then started healing it. She didn't want to look at either of them right now and she certainly didn't care to watch Hikari working. She kept still while she waited for Hikari to finish and then sighed quietly when she heard Hikari say 'there'. If anything she would have to agree that it didn't take very long and thanks to the fact that she couldn't feel anything in her arm it didn't hurt her to have Hikari healing her. She glanced over to her arm briefly and started to lift her eyes to look over at Hikari but stopped and lowered her eyes again. ".....Thanks." She mumbled quietly, barely audible while she got a glimpse of her blood covered hand. After Hikari went to tend to Kyran she took a couple steps back and then knelt down. She pressed her good hand in what was left of the water on the floor. It wasn't much, but it was enough that she thought some of the blood might come off her hand. At least that was something she could do that no one could complain about. She sighed heavily. This really sucked not being able to do anything. She couldn't help thinking she'd have been better off staying downstairs with Esen. At least then she wouldn't have been cut up in the first place and wouldn't have irritated Hikari or upset Nanashi. She was ready to find the relic and get out of here.
Kyran looked over to Nanashi and watched as he almost fell over. He shook his head seeing the look on his face. He didn't need to be worrying about anyone but himself right now, especially considering how much blood he had lost from that one large injury. "...I'm fine Nanashi." He paused. "You just need to worry about yourself." He told him and tried to smile. He shifted uncomfortably and looked at Hikari when she started over to him then watched as she started to remove the ointment. He stared at her with a half blank expression when she warned him not to say a word. He shook his head lightly. "...I hadn't planned on it." He assured her quietly. He knew better than to fight her right now. Not just because LaRae had probably gotten on her every last nerve but because there was still the matter of the guardian. He needed this chance to get some relief from his injuries so that he'd be some use in battle. Even more so since Nanashi didn't look that well thanks to the blood loss. He couldn't even lift his foot without almost falling over, how was he supposed to fight if the need arose? He sighed quietly and then winced suddenly when he felt Hikari starting to apply the ointment. He kept relatively quiet while she started working. He didn't want to make any noise to go against his telling Nanashi he was fine. After his midsection got healed the only thing he worried about was his back. He hit that pillar pretty hard and it hurt even to stand up straight. That surely would be uncomfortable during a battle. He could only hope that this relic and guardian weren't a pain in the tail to deal with. Aamori was thoroughly embarrassed when Kanone wiped away her tears. She hadn't even realized that she'd had any and here he was clearing them away. Had her skin not still been blue he might have even noticed her blush a little after he pressed his lips to her head. She nodded her head weakly when he told her not to cry and said that thought the fish was dead. She hadn't meant to cry in the first place so it was easy enough to not do that, or try not to anyway. She was glad that Kanone had been here. Not only did he come to her aid twice but he even took the time to remove glass from her back and try soothing her. She smiled weakly and watched while he looked for the piece of the spetum that he'd borrowed. She sighed softly while glancing towards the bunch around Hikari. She startled when she heard Kanone and then jerked back to look at him and then over to Nero and the fish. She couldn't believe that thing wasn't dead yet. Any normal barracuda would surely have died by now and if not then it'd be more than half way to suffocating now that the water was emptied from the room. She turned her attention again this time to Celestine when she heard him fall. It didn't take her very long to start over in his direction. Since she had shoes on she wasn't too afraid of stepping on glass. On the other hand it would be her luck to slip and fall and get more glass lodged into her body. She was a little off kilter while she walked thanks to the cuts that she still had in her legs but they weren't bothering her nearly as bad as they had been. Nero stared down at the fish with an annoyed expression after he examined his brass knuckle again. That last hit had pretty much broken what was left of the spikes clean off. He shook his head and growled under his breath. This damn fish was a pain in the ass and he wasn't even going to say for certain that it was dead even now. He turned his head slightly to look over at Kanone when he heard him snap at the fish. If his mood was better he might have laughed quietly at the fact Kanone was yelling at a fish. He turned his attention to Celestine when he heard his question. He lifted his hand and waved it dismissively. He was fine. Sure he had a tooth in his leg and a nice set of puncture wounds from that bite but it wasn't anything that bad. He barely felt it though that could easily be blamed on his focus being on that fish again. He stared at the fish again and his eyes widened slightly, practically in disbelief. He took a couple more steps back just for good measure. It wasn't every day that an eight foot barracuda turned into a puddle of water. That damn fish clearly wasn't there on the floor anymore. There was a puddle of water instead, that was it. He tilted his head slightly and started to cross his arms over his chest. What the hell was up with this fish anyway? If it could even be called a fish anymore. The barracuda only flopped around for a few moments after being knocked out of the dark dragons leg. He again played dead while he laid there. He didn't even bother to move his gills to breath, better they all thought he was dead. He waited a bit longer and then started the process so that he could change forms. His fish body barely made a change, it just started to look like it was sinking into a puddle on the floor. It was a decent sized puddle of water mind you, eight feet was a lot of fish to make vanish. After a few moments longer had passed the puddle started to ripple and a male body started to come out of the puddle. The body slowly rose from the puddle and was entirely made of water up until the full body had been formed. Once it formed it started to turn blue and the scales started becoming more evident on the body. The male body was kind of tall, perhaps just shy of six foot and covered head to toe in scales. All of the scales were the same color though they were varied in size and several areas on the body were reinforced scales, strong, hard and sharp just like the ones on the barracuda body. Those scales weren't going to be easy to find and likely the first thought would be that his whole body was covered in those scales. He looked human enough. He had normal human features and even had straight blue hair the same shade of his scales that fell just to his ribs. His fingers and toes however were webbed and he had gills on either side of his neck, one side clearly damaged from the spetum. He also had fins on the backs of his upper arms and calves. The body itself was lacking clothing all together but that wasn't really necessary when you couldn't even tell if the body had a gender. [In other words he looks like a ken doll down there~] It was pretty clear though that this was male, it's size was just too big to be female. Now that he had changed forms he threw his hands up and started rubbing the top of his head frantically. "You stupid dragons! Of course I'm not dead! What the hell do you take me for?!" He spat as he continued rubbing his head. He winced when he felt the knot on top of his head from where the dark dragon had hit him. "And why in the great blue sea do you have to knock me on head not once! but twice!" He whined and made a face before he started grumbling incoherently. |
Hikari did manage to give LaRae a brief nod when she tanked her, but most of her concern was on finishing up what she had started. Again, she was pretty quickly with the healing and managed to have it finished within a couple of minutes. She was at least glad that Kyran had sense enough to know not to argue with her. She looked down at the water again and sighed before she again wiped her hand on her shorts. Her shorts were turning a nice shade of red on the right side, though she left side wasn't much much better. It was staining dark red with her blood from the gashes that she'd received, though on top of that most of her hip was almost completely revealed and the blood was running down her leg and soaking into her boot as well. She tiptoed up a bit to kiss his cheek lightly and then started to hurry past him so she could get to Aamori, whom she noticed was heading straight for Celestine. She wasn't really paying all that much attention to the fish, at least not until she neared Celestine and heard the unfamiliar and....rather whiny voice. She looked over to the area where the fish had been and stared at the man that stood there not. "...What...the...?"
Nanashi nodded weakly to Kyran when he told him that he was alright but sighed when he told him that he needed to worry about himself. That was the last person that he really worried about. Sure, he was dizzy but he knew he'd be fine later. He watched as Hikari healed Kyran and then glanced over to LaRae again to see what she was doing at the moment. He sighed quietly and just tried to wipe his and on his pants. They were black and bloody anyway, so he didn't see the harm. He turned his gave back to Kyran after Hikari had walked off. He still wanted to know if he was really alright, but he just glanced again since he already knew the answer pretty well. He had to be hurting still even if his wounds were gone after getting knocked into that pillar. After another few seconds he finally gave up and sank to his knees, or fell on them more like, with a heavy sigh. He was exhausted already. Even still he reached behind him to unsheathe what he had of his weapon and laid it on the floor beside him. He didn't know what he could do right now, but he was at least going to try. He sat there for a few seconds, trying to catch his breath and get his head to stop swimming, though he looked up so quickly at the sound of the new voice that he nearly fell over sideways and just barely caught himself with his arm. He stared across the room at what to him appeared to be two very blue men, though with the way they were wavering and overlapping, he knew there was only one. He shook his head again and grabbed his weapon as he tried to push himself back up. Obviously this was no time to go sitting down. Celestine nodded and sighed in relief when Nero said that he was alright. He knew he was at least hurt a little bit but it must not have been too serious. His attention shifted slightly when he saw Aamori coming toward him and he stared at her for a moment before he started to move toward her as well, though he periodically glanced at the ground to make sure that there was no glass. He took another step and slipped in a puddle formed by the wader still draining from his wings and then fell over backwards again, the swallow clattering off of the floor next to him. He growled quietly and struggled to get up again, though when he tried to climb up the weight of his wings only caused him to stumbled backwards until he hit the floor again. "Dammit!" He as about as uncoordinated right now as Aamori was on try land...or stairs for that matter. It was just hard to get up with his wings drenched considering their size as compared to the rest of him. He had rather large wings to have such a small body. He blinked when he saw Hikari coming toward him as well and then turned his head when he heard the voice as well and started at the man that was where the fish had been. His question was very similar to Hikari's. "...What the hell?" Kanone glanced at Aamori when she started to move away from him and then watched her head for Celestine who had inevitably fallen on his ass already. Well, at least he found his swallow. He cringed when Celestine fell again...and again...and then shook his head and sighed. "Oh brother..." He looked back ahead when he saw Nero backing up and moved forward slightly so that he was standing closer to him and he watched, wide-eyed as the man came up out of the water...or the water turned into the man. He just stared at him with his jaw hanging, still clutching the spetum's end tightly in his hand. He glanced to Nero quickly, "You're seeing this, right?" he asked quietly as his eyes went back to the man again as he finished forming. He blinked when the man spoke and he jumped back a little. Ahh it talks!! ....I don't know why I'm surprised by that... He blinked when he asked what they took him for and then smiled weakly and laughed slightly, "...A really big fish?" Just after he said that, as if to show where his mind had wandered his stomach growled very nosily. "Eh...heh...heh.... Ehh...you would have made a crummy fillet anyway..." he muttered to himself. He didn't take his eyes off of the scaly man at all. "Damn he's whiny..." he commented when he kept going on about his head. He was starting to wonder if this thing was even a threat. He stared at him like he was stupid when he asked why he had to be hit in the head. "...Because you were getting a little too happy with the swiping and the biting and the headbutting?" He raised an eyebrow while he continued to mutter. "...Why am I conversing with a six foot fish casserole?" he asked himself with a sigh. Obviously even in the midst of all of this, he was still hungry. Not to mention right now he kind of just felt like being an ass... He still wanted to gut this fish and eating it sounded about as good to him fight now. Of course when it got back to fighting he wasn't going easy on the thing. His personality seemed to do a complete 180 as soon as he thought he was being attacked. |
LaRae lifted her hand from the puddle she was trying to clean her hand in and then wiped her hand along the front of her jeans absently while she started to stand up. She looked to Nanashi when he fell to his knees and sighed quietly. This definitely wasn't the best day to have been looking for the relic. It would have been better if they could have waited a little longer, at least until Nanashi had been back to full health. It couldn't be good for him to have lost as much blood as he did today, especially after how much he'd lost before. Her ears twitched a little when she heard the unfamiliar voice and then she looked over in the direction she'd heard it. She stared at the man covered in scales and then shook her head a little. She wasn't sure she could even make sense of what the fish had just done. Then again... maybe she could. After all, dragons could take human forms as well as their dragon forms. Though, she'd never once heard of a fish having the ability to do that.
Kyran kept still while Hikari finished up and then looked down at her while she wiped her hand to her shorts. He sighed quietly seeing how red they were getting and then noticed the gashes she had. That darn fish had managed to get almost everyone to some extent. He smiled a little after Hikari kissed his cheek and then watched her as she headed for Aamori. He thought briefly about asking her how she was feeling, considering the gashes. But he guessed they weren't bothering her that much since she was managing to get around and heal everyone fairly easily. He lifted his hand and started to feel his midsection a little. He was at least glad it was healed and the wounds had been taken care of but it still hurt and probably would for awhile yet. That stupid fish had managed to hit him in just about the exact place that Nanashi had earlier so the bruising would probably be even worse after all was said and done. He quirked a brow slightly when he heard an unfamiliar voice and his first reaction was to look over at Nobu. He only heard that other voice once so he wasn't sure he recognized it. When he heard the voice again, sounding more whiny he glanced around a little until he spotted that blue scale covered man. He stared at him for a moment and couldn't help but be curious. After all, it wasn't everyday that a fish was able to take on a human form and since the fish could do that he wondered if that meant this guy was the guardian. If that was the case then he wondered where the relic was. Aamori cringed a little each time that Celestine fell down again. She wasn't going to laugh at him but seeing him fall that much made her feel better about all the times she'd fallen down. It was a little hard to believe that Celestine could even fall down to begin with, he was usually so graceful. She continued to head over to him and stopped when she reached him. "...At least you sound more like yourself." She commented quietly since he sounded pretty annoyed with falling down like he was. She turned her head and looked over towards Nero and the fish when she heard the new voice. She stared in disbelief at the man who was standing where the fish had been. That was just plain weird. Fish couldn't do that. At least not normally. "...Umm... that's one ...special fish...?" She mumbled quietly. Nero had a little trouble keeping a straight face while he watched the fish change forms. He shook his head while he looked at the body forming and then glanced back at Kanone a little when he asked if he was seeing this. Of course he was seeing this, he was standing right there in front of the damn thing. He kept his arms crossed over his chest and shook his head again, more in disbelief as he heard the man talk. Of course it could talk. If it could change to a human form then by all means it should be able to talk. He ignored the content of what the guy was saying for the most part at least until it started whining. He rolled his eyes and then glanced back to Kanone again. Leave it to Kanone to have a few unintelligent comments to make. He stared down at Kanone's stomach when he heard it growl and he almost laughed. He couldn't begin to imagine trying to cook this fish, man, or whatever it was. How could this thing even be appealing enough to make a stomach growl? He sighed heavily and looked back at the man. "I think I'd be more surprised if you weren't talking to the fish, Kanone." He glanced back to the fish-man for a moment and then sighed. "....This is turning out to be a waste of time." He paused. "We need to just kill this thing and find the relic." He muttered quietly. If this dragged on and on he couldn't help feeling like they would get no where. The barracuda finally stopped rubbing his head and started to drop his hands back down to his sides. He glanced towards the wind dragon, the one who'd injured his gills. He absently lifted his hand and clamped it down over the side of his neck where he'd been hurt and then shook his head while he listened to things coming out of the dragons mouth. "And here I thought all dragons were dumb and idiotic creatures. I'm proud of you. You can actually tell what I am." He muttered sarcastically. He stared almost blankly at the wind dragon when he heard his stomach growl. He shook his head while laughing quietly to himself. He wasn't sure if he should be offended or glad that he'd make a 'crummy fillet'. He shrugged slightly and started to glance around a little at the other dragons who were in the room. He was a bit surprised to see that a couple of them that he'd already attacked had their wounds already tended to. Well that didn't help him any. He knew he should've taken a little more time to inflict worse wounds to them. He was doing a good job of ignoring everything that was being said while he looked around, though his attention was caught when he heard mention of the relic. He turned his eyes towards the dark dragon. "You're wasting your time if you're looking for the water relic." He told him confidently. "You won't be able to get your hands on it." He added with a nod of his head. |
It took him a few moments, but Nanashi finally managed to get back to his feet after stumbling forward a couple of steps. He half wished he had the other end of his spetum so he could put it together and lean on it or something. He sighed heavily and looked back toward LaRae again before he shimmied over a little closer to her slowly, gripping his weapon in the hand opposite of her. He wasn't going to use her as a support beam, as tempting as it sounded, but he did want to stay close to her just in case all hell broke loose soon. That fish almost had to be the guardian...why else would it be able to change forms like that? He'd suspected something from the fish when it broke through the glass and flooded the room to attack them. After all, a fish wouldn't just attack normally for no reason unless it was hungry, and the fish obviously wasn't trying to eat them.
Celestine turned his eyes on Aamori when she said that he sounded more like himself. Oh grand... Well he guessed that he did kind of freak out and surprise everyone with his panic attack which he still was by no means entirely over. He was just trying to focus on other things now that he wasn't in danger of drowning and had a way out. After this little event he wasn't so sure he was going to be able to sleep well for months. He finally rolled onto his knees and groaned quietly as he pushed himself up that way rather than try to stand with the weight pulling him backwards. He huffed once he got to his feet again and leaned to get his swallow, though leaning down caused him to stumble. He stood again once he had it and looked back to Aamori again. "...The guardian..." he said quietly when Aamori called it a special fish, "...It about has to be." He shook his head when he heard Kanone's idiotic comments and turned his attention to Aamori again, "...Are you alright?" he asked softly as he raised his hand to rest gently on his arm. After seeing her legs and Kanone pulling glass from her back, he was worried for her, even though she seemed to be getting around alright. Nanashi and Kyran seemed to have gotten the worst from the fish. Hikari shook her head quickly, trying to get over the appearance of the man where the fish had been. What Celestine said made sense, though at the moment...he seemed more dangerous in fish form considering how he was talking. She moved over to Aamori quickly and knelt down without a word to examine her legs and see how badly they were injured. If the guardian had indeed changed forms, then that meant that things were about to heat up so she needed to hurry. Her legs were probably going to be more of a hindrance than her back so she just set straight to healing her without bothering with the ointment since these weren't quite as horrible as the others, not the mention she was running low and tired of wiping her hand on hr shorts. She wanted to get to Nero but knew that would be a lost cause. He would fight her worse than LaRae and right now, they really didn't have any time for much more than this, she may not even have time to finish Aamori up since she wasn't using the ointment to speed up the process like before. Kanone had only been asking if Nero was seeing that because he wasn't entirely sure that he was...and he hoped he wasn't going nuts. He laughed quietly when the fish said that he was proud of him. He had a feeling that was sarcasm so he answer him with a nice sarcastic, "Thanks, I try." He grinned slightly when the fish-man laughed at his comment, Well, glad I amuse you.... He looked over to Nero and made a face when he said that he'd be more surprised if he wasn't talking to the fish. "Aww, but he's so amusing," he said in a slightly whiny, yet sarcastic tone. He nodded in agreement when he said that they needed to just kill it so they could get the relic. He was kind of just...buying time since the others were still injured and Hikari seemed to be making rounds. He blinked when the fish responded to Nero's comment about the relic and stared at him with a half smirk, "I'm sure one of us can..." He already knew that only a dragon of that element would be able to touch the relic, so he of course meant that Aamori could get it when they figured out where it was, "It can't be that hard to find...unless you and your big mouth ate the damn thing," he added, remembering his joke downstairs. He of course was only joking, still stalling a little since a quick glance at Hikari told him that she was still working. As long as he could keep fishie here talking, she had time to do what she needed to. |
LaRae glanced over at Nanashi when he started trying to get back to his feet. She sighed softly noticing that he'd stumbled forward a little. To her, he was in no shape for this. She stayed quiet while he started to move closer. She shook her head a little from frustration. She hated that this place had no plants or anything that could suffice to help her magic. At times like this it really sucked that she couldn't just make her element appear out of thin air. There had to be something that could be done to fix that. Perhaps something she'd try and look into when she had time. She also wasn't at all used to being the person who needed to be protected. In her clan she was nothing more than a weapon so how humorous this must be that she wasn't even going to be able to really defend herself, let alone attack. She was starting to think that investing in an actual weapon might not be that bad of an idea either. Something she could use for when she couldn't use her magic. She eyed Nanashi's spetum briefly and then shook her head. If it really came down to it she didn't think it'd be that hard to pry him off that weapon. He looked rather unstable after all. She lifted her hand and started feeling her other arm. It was healed but she hadn't regained feeling in it just yet. She assumed that could be due to how much blood she'd lost in that area. She hadn't expected feeling and mobility to return to the arm right away anyway. It'd be a miracle if Hikari's healing worked like that but she was pretty sure it didn't.
Aamori watched Celestine while he started to get up again. If there was enough time, which of course there wasn't, she wouldn't mind using her magic to remove some of the water from his wings. At least to make it easier for him to move around. It was kind of pathetic watching him topple over just because of their weight. She shook her head a little when he stumbled while leaning down to pick up his swallow. She probably could've leaned down to get that for him had she thought of it before he acted. She started to glance back towards the scaly man when Celestine said that he had to be the guardian. She supposed that made a lot sense but considering the past two guardians that they had fought this wasn't exactly what she was expecting. She looked back to Celestine when she heard him ask if she was alright. She tried to smile a little and nod her head. She wasn't alright, but she'd rather try and put up a front so it at least looked like she was alright. Now wasn't exactly the time to be whining about how much your legs or back hurt. "...I was going to ask you the same thing." She deviated. She looked down almost immediately when Hikari came over and knelt down in front of her. She was about to ask what she was going but stopped when she caught on. She felt a little silly for not noticing the obvious right away. She wasn't going to complain at all about Hikari doing this for her, she was used to immediate care. "...Thank you, Hikari." She tired not to focus on what she was doing. Her legs by no means were as bad as Nanashi, LaRae, or Kyran's injuries but they still bled and were tender. The cuts looked a lot worse than they actually were. She had a decent amount of skin revealed on her lower legs thanks to her boots being ripped further than the cuts. The cuts went from the side of right leg across to the side of her left leg at a slight angle. Where the cuts actually ended was probably the worst because that was where the brunt of the force went that flung her into the water. Had there not been so much water she probably would have broken down and started scrubbing her legs to make the blood go away, but with her legs submerged like they were for so long there wasn't any blood dried to her. She moved her hand a little while Hikari worked and slipped her hand under the bottom part of her dress, moving it aside while she reached for her staff. She startled for a moment while she patted the holster and felt nothing. She had to think about it for a moment. When she remembered what she did with her staff she immediately looked over at the door in the floor and stared with wide eyes. Her staff wasn't there either. Her breath caught in her chest and she winced then lifted her hand to press against the center of her chest. "...Owwie..." She mumbled quietly. She hadn't noticed before but her chest hurt. She moved her hand away and glanced down, noticing now that her dress had a couple small tears in it right at the center of her chest. She assumed that must have been from when the fish headbutted her. Nero didn't care very much for buying time. He was well aware of the tactic but right now he wanted nothing more than to do away with this fish. That could easily be because he saw no threat in this thing. Sure it could change into a human form but the stupid thing was whiny and bantering back and forth with Kanone of all people. He sighed quietly and started to shift his brass knuckle from his right to left hand. He flexed his now empty hand for a moment and then turned his eyes back to the fish, man, whatever. He had already guessed that there was something off about this fish and the fact that he knew of the relic they were after lead him to the same conclusion that everyone else was getting to. He had to admit, he wished the guardian for this relic had been something more than a fish. He shook his head again when he heard Kanone's comment about the possibility of the fish having eaten the relic if they couldn't find it. Oh how he hoped Kanone was just being an idiot and that fish hadn't actually done that. He looked over at Kanone while he reached down to his other pocket to fish out his other brass knuckle. "For your sake Kanone, I hope you're wrong about that." He told him while he slipped the weapon on his right hand. The barracuda stared at the wind dragon for a moment after he made the comment about him eating the relic. He tilted his head slightly and then leaned down a bit so that he could eye his own stomach for a moment like an intrigued little kid. He removed his hand from his neck and started patting his stomach lightly. He knew the relic was in there even if he couldn't feel it right now so he was a little curious how the wind dragon could even come to that conclusion. "...Is it really that obvious?" He asked sounding a little whiny again. After he finished inspecting his stomach he glanced back up at the wind dragon and then over to the dark dragon, noticing he was shaking his head and then smacked his palm to his forehead. At any rate, he was confident that the relic was going to stay where it was. He smirked lightly because of his confidence. "You know... the water relic didn't use to have someone 'guarding' it. You should've come for it sooner." He started. "Then maybe you wouldn't have me to deal with." He paused. "I'm Varun, self-proclaimed Guardian of the water relic!" He beamed. |
Nanashi was indeed on the verge of toppling over, so getting his weapon from him really wouldn't be that hard. He wouldn't be able to resist very much if someone wanted to take it from him. He was mostly only holding it just in case that thing came near him again. Even if he couldn't see straight he still planned to make a good attempt at defending himself or at least LaRae. He really wished about as much as LaRae that Hikari's healing worked such wonders, but it seemed all that she could mend was the tissue, not the blood loss. He was still a little sore from the remaining cuts on his middle, but they still seemed to be healing with the ointment on him, just more slowly. There may not be much for Hikari to come back to finish by the time she had a chance. Evens till, he'd already lost a lot of blood, so his head foggy, his vision was doubled, and his body was weak, and there was nothing really that any of them could do about that except for throw him back into bed when they returned. He knew already that he was in danger of passing out at any given moment, but he was trying to force himself to concentrate on the task at hand. If nothing else he was determined... He wasn't giving up until he couldn't move.
Celestine nodded once to Aamori when she said that she'd planned to ask him the same thing. "...I'm not hurt," he said quietly. He was still shaken and obviously on edge, but he hadn't been harmed at all. His only problem was that his back was starting to hurt a little from weight, but it was manageable. He just wished that he would dry faster, considering that he really didn't have anything else to really hinder his fighting ability. He was relieved when Hikari came there and started healing her right away. At least she would be able to walk better now so hopefully she could do more. He watched her when she reached for her staff and then blinked when he saw that she didn't have it. "...What did you do with it?" he asked quietly as he looked at her again. Hikari kept her focus on Aamori's legs, continuing to heal her wounds until they were nothing more than minor scratches. She could have finished completely, but at this rate, she was more worried about conserving her energy. She stood up again and looked at Aamori, "You're welcome... I got the worst of it, we'll worry about the rest later," she told her quietly as she finally slipped her bow off of her shoulders to grip it in her hands. She didn't really know what her arrows could do to this thing, but she guessed she'd never know unless she tried. She hadn't been listening at all to the conversation between Kanone and the fish guy, though she did catch his name and the fact that he was a self-proclaimed guardian. Well, good...that meant he probably wasn't as strong as he seemed to think he was. Kanone glanced at Nero almost nervously when he said 'for your sake' before hoping he was wrong. "What's that supposed to mean?" he asked nervously. He looked back to the fish while he examined his stomach and then his mouth fell open. "....You're serious?" he asked in a disbelieving tone. After a second he chuckled and then just stared to laugh, "Can I call them or what?" He glanced back over to Hikari, glad to see that she was finished for now. Well....he guessed it was time to start getting serious again. He looked back to Varun again and then smirked slightly, "Self proclaimed, huh? Sounds like a silly job to take up guarding something like that.... Why don't you just cough it up and hand it over so you can go back to swimming with all your little fish friends, we don't have to drag this out, and I can go get something to eat," he said simply. He still sounded a little jeering, but at the same time something about him seemed to have changed and he sounded more serious than anything. He was getting ready to fight now though he kind of hoped the guy would take him up on that. "If not, I guess we'll have to fillet you, anyway." He seemed focused, and the tone in his voice at his last words sounded more like a threat than a joke. |
Aamori removed her hand from her chest and glanced over to Celestine briefly before eying the door. She sighed heavily. "I used it to open the door the rest of the way to let the water out faster and then that fish hit me in chest and I lost track of where it went." She paused and shook her head a little. "...I'm not sure where it's at ...maybe down the stairs somewhere." That was her best guess anyway. She had to admit, it was a little uncomfortable not knowing where her staff was but at least she wasn't completely unarmed. She could still use magic, thankfully, and she'd barely touched her energy for that today. She looked at Hikari when she said that she'd gotten the worst of it. She glanced down at her legs for a moment and smiled slightly seeing nothing more than scratches. Well that was a relief. Having those taken care of was going to make walking and moving around in general more comfortable. She was pretty sure that ignoring her back and the minor pain in her chest would be no big deal, or at the very least she hoped so.
Nero glared over at Kanone after hearing that the relic was indeed where Kanone had joked it would be. "...That means you didn't want to be right." He muttered. "And now we're going to have to dig the relic out of that stupid fish." He sighed heavily obviously not thrilled about that. "If you were going to be right why couldn't you have said it was somewhere a little easier to get to?" He shook his head clenched his fists together. Varun stared at the wind dragon when he asked him if he was serious. He nodded his head. Of course he was serious. What fish wouldn't eat an object that could make them better than they were? Without the relic he'd be nothing more than your average barracuda. You could easily say that he was just power hungry. It was nice being stronger and better than the others and the fact that he could change forms whenever he wanted was nice as well. He continued to stare at the wind dragon for a moment before shaking his head. "You could just leave and go get something to eat and act like you were never here." He paused. "Then again... that would mean that I'd have to let you leave here alive..." He sighed. "I'm not sure I can do that." He added and then glanced over to the dark dragon briefly. Well, he certainly looked like he was ready for a fight. Or he could just be mad since his stupid spiked weapon was no match for the defense of his scales. Nero only bothered to stand there for a moment or two longer. He'd assumed that Kanone was done stalling based on the change in his tone. He was also tired of standing there listening to Kanone and Varun banter back and forth like a couple of dimwits. He thought he'd take this chance and be the first to go after the fish in his new body. He tightened his grip on his brass knuckles and lunged at him with his fist drawn. His first fist aimed straight for Varun's face. He figured that would be the most likely place where he didn't have those strong defensive scales. He somehow wasn't that surprised to see Varun had pulled both arms up, forearms outward, when he got close enough to hit him. His brass knuckle smacked against the hard scales and practically slid down them. He pulled the fist back while throwing his other a little lower, targeting the chest. This time Varun didn't bother to put his arm in the way, instead he just let him hit his chest. Again, hard scales. He pulled his hand back and started to throw the other aimed a little lower, the torso. Just as he was about to connect with him Varun side stepped quickly and his fist went straight into the stone wall behind him with incredible force. He managed to crack the stone around where his knuckle had collided and it took him a moment to yank the spiked knuckle from the stone. Varun blocked and avoided the dark dragon's attempts rather easily. Perhaps because he had some idea of what to expect from him. He'd been hit on the head twice already and both times the hit was pretty much the same. After he'd sidestepped that last punch aimed for his torso he paused and tilted his head a little while he looked at the cracks in the stone wall. He practically hovered just beside the dark dragon until he had his fist free. "Looks like a certain dragon has a lot of force behind a punch." He commented before slipping away from the dragon already suspecting he'd try hitting him again if he stayed that close. "I still think you're better off forgetting about the water relic." |
Celestine nodded weakly when she said that the staff may have gone downstairs. "Must have..." he said quietly, "It's not up here." He narrowed his eyes at the guardian as he listened to it. The thing didn't sound serious at all, though for the most part neither did Kanone. He knew how Kanone was most of the time, though. He would talk like a complete idiot and then come right back and kick your ass. He always told him that he wasn't a good fighter, but in reality he was almost as good as he was...he just never wanted to fight and never seemed to take anything seriously until he thought it mattered. Still, Celestine could usually lay Kanone out when they fought, but Kanone was one of those people who could give him a run for his money. Right now he jut hoped that Kanone and Nero were able to handle this crazy guardian since they seemed to be the only two with weapons that weren't badly injured or going to be too hindered in any way. Hikari looked like she might be able to fight, but he wasn't so sure a bow was going to do anything against those scales.
Kanone glanced at Nero again at his comment that he didn't want to be fight and then grinned. "But then I would have been wrong," he said simply, "I'd have put it in your pocket if I had that ability." He glanced back to Varun and sighed heavily again, "Filleting, it is then..." He tightened his grip on his weapon and then was just abut to lunge when Nero beat him to it. He stopped and watched as Nero attacked and skidded off and then went to attack again at the chest. He was starting to wonder where the vulnerable spots were. Obviously the face was a good bet, the chest was out...apparently below the chest wasn't meant to be hit considering that Varun moved rather than let him hit, or maybe he just wanted him to get stuck, though that seemed almost pointless since he was just standing there jeering at him while he tried to free his weapon front he wall. Kanone took that opportunity to back up and get around Nero so that he was standing on the same side as Varun while he was hovering by Nero and watching him. He managed to at least get behind him while he was talking and when he started to move away he dove at him, thrusting the point of the weapon at his neck since that was reasonably a week spot. Hell, maybe he could clobber his other gill that way. Kanone was done talking, tempting as it was to make comments. Obviously that only slowed things down. Besides, he hoped by staying silent that he would go unnoticed longer than if he'd decided to comment back. Hikari watched as Kanone and Nero finally started fighting with Varun and then moved a little so that she was in a better position to do something should she get a chance. Right now she didn't want to fire for fear of Varun moving or Kanone or Nero getting in the way. She could stop her arrows, but they moved fast so she may or may not have time to react if one of them ended up in a bad place. No point in shooting them down with friendly fire, especially if they seemed to be doing fine on their own. |
Aamori sighed quietly after hearing Celestine say that her staff wasn't up here. She figured that much on her own. She just wished that it was up here or at the very least somewhere that she could get to it easily. She'd have to remember when this was all said and done that she needed to look for her staff. She just couldn't leave here without that, she'd never hear the end of it. She turned her eyes towards Nero, Kanone and Varun. She had barely been listening to what was being said between them but she still noticed when they started fighting. She stood quietly while she watched. She kind of hoped that Kanone and Nero could handle the guardian on their own. They weren't really hurt that badly if at all so it'd be great if they could take care of Varun without anyone else having to step in.
Varun watched while the dark dragon was getting his weapon free. He had backed up a couple steps without even noticing that the wind dragon had moved let alone that he was near him and already prepared to attack. Since he didn't pick up on the wind dragon he was unable to move out of the way of his attack. He startled immediately with a painful whine when the weapon stabbed into his neck, damaging his gills, again. Luckily for him while he was in his human form he didn't need to use his gills to breathe. His first reaction before he even let the pain sink in was to quickly jerk himself away even at the cost of his gills, just to get clear of that wind dragons grasp. He didn't even care if the weapon stayed in his gills or came out when he jerked, he just wanted to move. The last thing he wanted was to go flying somewhere again. Once he jerked himself away he turned around in another quick, fluid movement and thrust his sharp scaled shin directly for the dragons side. He moved nearly as fast as he did in the water and he had a lot of force behind his legs. Obviously his legs would be his strongest feature. After all his tail fin was what propelled him around in the water in fish form. Nero did his best to ignore Varun while he was trying to get his brass knuckle free from the stone wall. It didn't take too long and once it was free he shook out his fist a little. He'd never admit to it but hitting stone like that did hurt one's fist. He looked over at Varun when he heard him and noticed that Kanone had taken an opening to thrust his weapon into Varun's neck. He watched for only a moment while Varun moved quickly to try and kick Kanone. He didn't let very much time in between Varun's attempt to attack Kanone and his own follow up attack. He went straight after his lower back since his back was to him. He made contact easily and hit Varun hard enough that he let out another pained whine as he stumbled forward a step. Varun kept his footing which surprised him but that didn't really matter that much to him. He'd managed to get him in the back with his spiked knuckle and he'd noticed that his back must not have been well protected. At least not where he'd hit him. His spikes stabbed into the guys skin briefly and then slipped out when he stumbled forward. |
Kanone went forward a bit with the weapon when Varun started to pull away from him until he realized that he was about to lose his weapon in the guy's gills. He tightened his grip on the handle and then jerked bad, ripping the hooked end out of the guy's neck again. He was a little taken by surprise at how quickly Varun reacted, and at his speed out of water. When he kicked at him he jumped away quickly, though not quite fast enough to avoid having his shirt ripped open and his side grazed. It stung, but he had avoided most of the force behind the attack and managed not to go flying. Obviously he was going to have to keep a better eye on Varun's movements. He gritted his teeth and looked back to Nero when he heard Varun yelp again, seeing that he'd managed to get him in the back. Alright, so his back was another good place to aim for, apparently. He didn't take time to examine the damage to his side, and did well to ignore it entirely as he made another lunge at Varun, this time thrusting the point toward his side in hopes that his sides were pretty open as well. He was almost annoyed with what he had to work with considering that it was only half of the length of what he was used to working with and the tip was much smaller than the end that Nanashi had...though that made sense since this was the bottom of the thing. Still, he couldn't help but think they were getting nowhere fast with such small weapons. The small ones had their advantages too though, since they were easier to maneuver around quickly.
Celestine gasped when Varun kicked Kanone's side and then watched as Kanone went right back into an attack. Well, apparently he wasn't hurt too bad, or at least he hoped not. It didn't look like Varun had hit him that hard, just that he had hit him. He was trying to think of some way that he could be of assistance, but he knew he'd get in the way if he was stumbling around over there with his wet wings and probably just get himself hurt. He had his magic, but it would be a little dangerous to send those wind blades like he had used on Nerian over there with Kanone and Nero in the area. He could control the current of the winds that he created entirely, but things like that well...they weren't so controllable. |
Varun started to turn around shortly after the dark dragon had hit him in his back. He ignored the fact that his gills had been ripped open, again. Sure it hurt but right now he did have more important things to be worrying about. While he was turning around quickly he lifted his leg so that he could kick the dark dragon. He aimed high enough that he should easily be able to hit the dragon in his upper arm. He grew slightly annoyed when the dragon managed to block him from hitting the intended area. As he was lowering his leg he felt a sharp pain in his side and clenched his teeth. It was rather annoying to have to fight two dragons at once with such close contact. It made it kind of hard to keep an eye on both of them at the same time and successfully block or counter. He stood there and looked down to the sharp weapon that had once again made contact with him.
Nero just barely caught when Varun lifted his leg to kick him. He moved a little too fast for him to be able to move away like Kanone had and he knew regardless he was going to get hit. He instinctively lifted his forearm to try and block Varun. When his shin made contact with his forearm he slid to the side due to the force behind his kick. Had he not been trying to block the attack he probably could have easily been thrown, thankfully all he managed was to slide a couple feet from where he'd been standing. His forearm of course took the brunt of the damage and was now cut open in several places and bleeding thanks to the sharp hardened scales on Varun's shin. He hadn't bothered to really look at his arm but he wouldn't be surprised to see his arm bruise as well. |
Kanone really almost hated doing this. For one, it really wasn't fair that Varun was so outnumbered, and he hated having to hurt something so much just to kill it. He actually kind of liked Varun a little...he was kind of amusing at least, though he was still pissed off at him for hurting his friends. He was able to attack so effectively by just telling himself that he was doing no less than Varun had already done to someone else. After the blade was lodged into his side he didn't hesitate to shove a little harder as he dragged it down forcefully, trying to widen the wound before he jumped back quickly, trying to avoid getting hit again should Varun swipe at him or anything. He cast a quick glance to Nero's arm to make sure that he was alright and nearly cringed at the sight of it, though he didn't keep his attention there for long. He was trying to keep his eyes on Varun for the most part since the little fishie still moved pretty damn fast for being out of water.
|
Varun didn't move while the wind dragon had his weapon in him and he couldn't help but let out another pained cry when he felt the sharp weapon being forced down to widen the wound. He winced once the wind dragon jumped back and the weapon tried to go with him. It didn't of course because it was caught on a bone inside of him. He wanted to be able to get the weapon free himself without that wind dragon damaging any more of him. He quickly took his opposite hand and clenched down tightly on the dragons wrist closest to him while simultaneously lifting his other arm, aiming to hit him in the face with his forearm. Of course if he did manage to hit him like he wanted to he'd have let go of his wrist and been looking for a quick exit so he could try and get that weapon out.
Nero looked back at Varun after he had briefly examined his arm. He saw that Kanone had managed to get his weapon lodged in Varun's side. So far it was looking like Varun's defenses were a lot stronger in his other form and he'd been forced to change since there was no longer any water in here. It was starting to look like this was all in their favor. The only plus sides to this form so far, that he could tell were he was still pretty fast and he had a lot of force behind his legs. He had already prepared to hit Varun again by the time that Kanone had jumped back. He waited until Varun went to hit Kanone back and then lunged at him with his spiked fist drawn back. He figured he'd get a good hit in since Varun was preoccupied with that weapon in his side so he was going to hit hard. He lunged at Varun and as soon as he got close enough that he could have hit him in his stomach Varun quickly dodged to the side getting out of harms way. There wasn't enough time for him to stop his attack thanks to Varun moving when he did so unless Kanone was paying real good attention it was likely the attack would hit him instead. Nobu had been quietly watching the fight as it progressed while trying to shake his fur out a little here and there. It was going to fluff so bad once it was completely dry. He hadn't planned on getting involved unless he saw a good opening where he wouldn't get in the way. He saw a good chance when Varun moved out of the way leaving Nero no choice but to hit Kanone [Unless he moved]. He wasted very little time dashing over towards Varun while he inspected the weapon in his side. As soon as he was close enough he lunged at him and clamped his teeth down into his thigh as best as he could. He had a strong jaw, just like most of the other canines so it wasn't going to be easy to remove him. Although the blood would surely get to him before too long and he'd let go himself. Varun let out a yelp as soon as he felt the teeth clamp down on his leg. He couldn't really focus on getting the sharp weapon from his side now and he glared down at the dog that was latched onto his leg. He knew he should have done something about this thing earlier. He hated canines and felines for that matter. He only stared at the dog for a few moments before he started to ball up his fist. He then started to pummel the dog on the head trying to force him to let go. His hand only had the hard sharp scales to the tip of his knuckles so he wasn't cutting the dog really, just stabbing him every so often. Every time he hit the dog in his head he heard a short lived whimper and then proceeded to keep hitting him since he wasn't budging an inch. |
Kanone was a little disgruntled when the weapon hung on something and didn't come out when he pulled. He didn't want to lose the thing, so he wasn't letting to easy. He was about ready to give it another jerk when Varun grabbed onto his wrist. His attention was immediately drawn there since he was half afraid he was about to try to tear his hands off, though unfortunately it seemed he was more interested in tearing his face off. He was completely blindsided when Varun's arm connected with his face and he couldn't help but cry out as the scales slices through his cheek and right under his eye. He almost screamed when the soft tissue under his eye was sliced. That hurt...a lot, and he quickly found out that it hurt to even open that eye now, so his vision had just been cut in half. He had intentionally dropped everything and stumbled slightly, though he had only barely released the weapon that was embedded in Varun's side when Nero caught him right in the ribs with his knuckles on the same side that Varun had just sliced. He felt the spikes sink through his skin easily and felt a very painful snap as he went flying and hit the ground with a quiet squeak before he skidded back along the floor, leaving a smear of blood behind him. His hair had already fallen out of it's ponytail and was sticking all over his face wetly as he tried to push himself up again, gritting his teeth. He managed to get to his knees before he just doubled over, coughing violently to reclaim the wind that had been knocked out of him, though each couch and breath hurt terribly. He finally had to just wrap his arm around his middle and try to keep pressure on the broken rib while he tried to breathe. Well, he was pretty sure that put him down for a few minutes. He was in so much pain right this second that breathing made him dizzy. He hadn't been able to see Nero coming, but he knew that almost had to have been what had hit him. He really wished the guy would be more careful, but at the same time, he didn't blame him for the punch; he knew that he hadn't meant to hit him.
Celestine's eyes widened when he saw Kanone finally go down. The hit the the face alone looked like it would have been enough to throw him off before Nero missed his target and his weapon found a new one. He didn't even think before he was moving, weapon in hand, toward the fight, though that wasn't where his attention lied. He leaned forward slightly to make running a little less difficult and then fell to his knees beside Kanone while placing a worried hand on his back and trying to look him over. He scared him with the way that he was struggling to breathe, though it didn't take him too long to realize that Nero much of done a number on at least one of his ribs. "Kanone!?" he gasped quietly before he looked back to see what Varun was doing and noticed Nobu hanging off of his leg. He growled quietly when he saw Varun punching Nobu in the head, but he knew going over there would just having him coming out like Kanone in a couple of minutes. Kanone opened his good eye and then put his free hand on Celestine's knee lightly as he continued to struggle to breathe. He knew he'd be alright, or he was pretty sure he would be at least. After all, he didn't think anything of real importance had been damaged other than the rib. He still had his eye and his lung wasn't busted to his knowledge, but he just hurt too much right now to get up. Once the pain faded a little he had every intention of getting right back up and helping Nero, but that was going to take a couple of minutes at best. He couldn't take another hit like that so soon. Hikari cringed when she saw Kanone's face get swiped and then again when she heard the sound of a bone crunching even from where she stood. She watched as he fell and smacked off of the ground on his back before he bounced and ended up sliding across his injured side on the floor while curling himself into the fetal position. She already wanted to run over there and see if she could help him, but that was going to have to wait a little. She watched as Nobu ran to attack Varun and then raised her bow while he was concentrated on beating Nobu in the head. She aimed straight for his head as she pulled back the string and the light started to gather by her fingertips and trailed from her left hand where her index finger was fixated on Varun's head all the way back to her right hand where she pulled the string. The light easily made the shape of an arrow shaft, and a very bright one at that. After second she released the arrow and sent it sailing at Varun's head. The thing was almost like a miniature shooting star flying across the room, even leaving a bit of a tail behind it as it flew. If Varun didn't more the thing would more than likely plant itself right between his eyes. the only drawback to her arrows was that they were bright so they did kind of draw attention to themselves, but most things wouldn't really have too much time to react to the speed of them. Varun was fast, but she didn't know if he was quite that fast. |
Nero had wanted to do something to keep from hitting Kanone as soon as he saw Varun move out of the way but there was so little time for him to try and stop the attack or even redirect it. He decided that it'd be better to just hit Kanone rather than try and reposition his attack and stand the chance of doing worse damage to Kanone. It was inevitable, Kanone was going to get hit. Now where and how hard could have changed had he had more time to react. After Kanone went flying he paused and watched him hit the ground and then turned to look back at Varun, intending to go after him again especially since he wasn't going to have to worry about accidentally hitting Kanone again right away. He was a little surprised to see that Nobu had gone after Varun already. That was good except for Nobu getting punched in the head. At least Varun wasn't getting a chance to get that weapon out of himself yet. He turned back to look at Kanone, thinking briefly about seeing if the guy was alright. After all that was a pretty strong hit to the ribs that he took. He wasn't too surprised to see that Celestine had already rushed over to him. Since he already had someone checking on him he started to turn his attention back to Varun, prepared to get Nobu free of the pounding that he was receiving. He barely lifted his foot off the ground before he didn't bother moving at all. He had extremely sensitive eyes so it didn't take much for him to notice the extra light in the room. He planted his feet where they were not wanting to get in the way while Hikari was shooting. He couldn't believe this, he screws up and accidentally hits Kanone and everyone starts jumping in to get a piece of the fish.
Aamori gasped when she saw Kanone get hit both times. She of course worried about him and wantec to check on him too since she was sure that Nero's punch to the ribs didn't feel any better than Varun getting his face. She stayed where she was though since Celestine had already gone to Kanone. She was even ready to go try and help Nobu out if need be but again she stayed where she was when she caught sight of what Hikari was doing. She knew better than to go getting in the way of her arrows and besides it looked like Nero was more than ready to go after Varun again. She just hoped that Nobu was going to be alright, those punches to the head looked like they hurt. Nobu still didn't let go of Varun even with the continuous punches to the head. In fact he clamped down a little harder in retaliation with each hit. He didn't want to let go of him until someone was able to start attacking him again and he was doing his very best to ignore the blood he was starting to taste. He hated that taste with a passion but he'd put up with it for as long as he possibly could for the greater good. He happened to catch the light from what Hikari was doing. He knew Varun couldn't be allowed to move, not if that arrow was going to hit the intended target. He stomped his front paws down and applied pressure so that he could do his best to hold Varun where he was. If he could tell what Hikari was doing than surely Varun would have noticed and he didn't want him getting away before that arrow hit. Varun was barely paying attention to anything other than trying to beat the damn dog off of his leg. He was in a decent amount of pain now and had more than enough time to focus on it while he was trying to stop the dog from sinking his teeth in too much. He didn't seem to be making the dog let go and that was thoroughly annoying him. He started to draw his hand back to try hitting the dog with more force and his eye caught on something bright. He had no idea what it was but he knew he didn't want to be where he was right now and moving was growing more and more difficult with the mass of purple fur on his leg. He hated that the canine seemed to know what was going on. He could feel the dog trying to hold him where he was and before he knew it the arrow had already been set in motion and connected with his head. He felt the arrow burning in his head and cried out briefly from the pain before he tried to ignore it. He knew that an arrow like that through his head wasn't going to leave him with very much time before he croaked so he wanted to get rid of the relic before they could get their hands on it. He felt the canine release him now that the arrow was in his head and he balled up his fist tightly while turning his sharp scales on his own stomach. He stabbed his fist through his skin and muscle straight for his stomach without registering much of any pain, thanks to that arrow. He quickly wrapped his hand around the relic and then yanked it out, dragging a bit of his insides out with him since they'd caught on his scales. He wasn't but a couple steps from a window as it was and out in the water seemed like the best place to chuck the relic. At least that way maybe some other fish would eat it before any one of them found it. He made sure to be quick about this since he knew he'd drop any minute. He tightened his grasp on the relic after he moved closer to the window and forcefully threw it as hard as he could threw the window. The relic being strong like it was easily shattered the glass once it collided and sailed out the window across the small amount of beach and wound up plummeting into the ocean a good distance from the tower. As soon as the relic left his hand he had already started to drop. His breathing had ceased completely and he was dropping like a doll onto the floor. If not for that arrow the blood loss would've been the next thing to claim his life, had Nero not gotten him back for making him hit a comrade. Aamori cringed when she saw Hikari's arrow make contact with Varun's head. That was... unpleasant to watch and she wished that she had thought to look away rather than watch it so closely. Surely that would be enough to kill Varun and then they'd be able to retrieve the relic. She startled when Varun was still moving and quickly it seemed to get something done. Her stomach churned when she saw Varun actually force his own fist into his stomach. She absently took a step forward with her hand stretched out when she saw that he'd yanked the relic, of all things, out of his stomach. She wanted to scurry over there and snatch it from him but before she could even get another step in his direction he'd turned to the window and chucked the relic. Her eyes widened while she mentally screamed that she couldn't believe he just did that. She stared in disbelief at least until she noticed Varun drop to the floor motionless. she wasted very little time now rushing over to the window. She didn't even care that he was laying on the ground right below the window. When she reached the window she stomped her feet down on his dead body while she peered out the window trying to see where the relic had gone. She managed to at least make it to the window in time to catch a brief dispersing of ripples from where it must have landed. She grumbled quietly while she tried to memorize the spot where she guessed it must have landed. She'd have to go after it and the sooner, the better. |
