Hikari took the bottle when he handed it to her and looked at it for a few moments, listening to him as he spoke. When he told her that she could have them she looked up quickly with wide eyes. "Oh no, I couldn't..." she started but trailed off when he informed her that he had more. She smiled and gently say he bottle down beside her. "Thank you, sir." She then paid attention once again as he explained to her about the putty and how to work it. Her ears perked up in obvious alarm when he told her what could happen if it backfired. Boy did she feel sorry for the guinea pig that had been unfortunate enough to get stuck with a bad batch of that for him to figure that out. "I see...I'll...keep that in mind." she said slowly. She really did want to to learn how to make the putty but she highly doubted that she would ever have the chance. As soon as this trip was over she was going to have to go home and she doubted that she would have another change to learn. Once she had the round container she sat it down beside the bottle that she'd placed next to her and smiled up to the man brightly before nearly pouncing him with a hug. "Thank you so much! This is going to make things so much easier on everyone." she said everyone because if she over did it again someone was obviously going to have to haul her around, and she really didn't want to be a burden to anyone again. She really appreciated that he decided to just give the products to her, which probably showed enough considering that she was acting like a child that had just been handed the most wonderful toy in the world, which to her...that just about was. She hadn't even thought about the fact that neither of them knew the other's name yet before she latched onto him, though once that thought crossed her mind she let go of him quickly and sat back, her cheeks red from embarrassment. "Er...sorry." she said sheepishly, looking up again, "My name is Hikari by the way." she added.
Taro mere smiled and gently hugged Hikari back. When she let go and he noticed how red her cheeks were he extended his hand and put it on top of her head and rubbed back and forth gently. "Do not worry about Hikari." He paused with a soft laugh. "I am a doctor you know, I have received hugs and such from patients who were grateful. So it's no different coming from you." He smiled again lightly having now known the girl's name; Though she already knew his, they met on the stairs where he introduced himself as 'Uncle Taro'. "As for the things that I have given to you, don't mention it. You're a friend of Kyran's, and you're interested in the different types of healing arts; So I couldn't possibly leave her and leave you empty handed." He paused and leaned back in his chair once again. "This form of healing was developed here, by this clan some years ago. It was meant to be kept a secret and only shared among those who couldn't heal as well as the Clans gifted with stronger, better healing energy. But I don't really care about who knows it. It's more about the people you are healing, rather then how you heal." He sighed lightly. "The technique is really simple once you learn the basics, and you can add healing energy to just about any medical product you could buy. Though it is always better to use something you've mixed yourself because when you use a purchased substance you take the chance of breaking down the mixture when adding your energy. I like to look at it as store bought medical ointments and such are complete already and the stuff that you make yourself, well, it has room for improvement." He paused for a moment. "Oh! I nearly forgot." He said as he reached back down into his black bag and pulled out the set of pale green bandages from earlier and then handed them to Hikari. "Talking about store bought products reminded me." He said with a soft smile. "Those are normal bandages bought from a store, they're soaked in nothing special really. Just some good smelling herbs that help to relax along with some flowers. Of course as they were soaking, I added energy to the mix to give them a healing property." He paused and glanced around the room for a moment, he was going to use Aamori as a show and tell but she was no where to be seen. He sighed softly and turned his attention back to Hikari. "I used those on that girl Aamori earlier today, so she'll be a little surprised when she goes to remove them." He paused with a slight chuckle. "By now all the marks on her arm should be gone, completely. Though to her, she can't tell and the smell of flowers has probably relaxed her. Those bandages are the newest thing I've played with, and the scent was only added to relax the person you're applying them to. When you're adding your healing energy, remember you want the person relaxed while applying the bandage. It usually works, and the person no matter how hysterical they are always seem to calm down considerably. Well, at least every time I've used it." He gave a soft sigh and leaned over the side of the chair looking into his bag for a moment to see if there was anything else that he had that he could give to her. He then sat back in the chair again and smiled softly. "Unfortunately that is all that I have with me at the moment. /this is my spare bag after all." He said with a small chuckle.
Hikari smiled when he put his hand on her her, though as soon as he moved it she wet to try to fix her hair again. "I see..." she said with a slight smile when he mentioned the patients that hugged him. She listed quietly as he told her about how the technique was developed here and wasn't meant to be spread. She nodded, making a mental note not to go telling anyone where she learned this if they asked. She still listened with interest as he explained to her about how adding the energy worked best. She smiled when he handed her the bandages and laughed softly when he mentioned Aamori. "Well that's good." She said softly. She was glad that someone took care of Aamori's arm. She didn't really think whatever Nero had done to it could be too bad, though she didn't think it would need bandages. "Thank you very much, Mr. Taro." she said with a nod as she went to put the bandages in her bag after he'd finished speaking. "Really this is more than I could have asked for. Thank you."
Taro smiled softly. "Just make sure that you put all of that to good use." He paused for a moment and looked back down at her. "Oh, and if you ever have any questions don't hesitate to send me a letter." He stood up from the chair and stepped to the side after picking up the bag. He walked back to the closet that he had pulled it from before and put it back. He shut the door and glanced back to Minako for a moment. "Minako, don't let me forget that I need to replace some of the stuff in that bag. Alright?" He smiled softly and took a few steps towards the front door. "Now if you all would excuse me I think I'll go ahead and leave. I'm sure I've got other people waiting on me." He said softly. "It was a pleasure meeting you Miss Hikari." He said before coming to a stop at the door; His hand rested on the knob. "Minako, feel free to send for me when you just want to visit... I don't always have to come when you need to put me to work, ya' know." He laughed softly and took the last steps outside. He started out with a brisk run before he leaped into the sky and let his wings glide for a moment. Then he flapped them a couple times and took off; It didn't take long for him to not be visible any longer.
Minako looked up from her book when she heard her uncle say her name. She nodded softly. "Of course Uncle, I'll let you know as soon as come back out this way." She stated quietly before marking her place in the book and then setting it down on the coffee table. She watched as he started towards the door and gave a soft sigh. "I know Uncle, I'm sorry." She paused knowing she should invite him over more when they could just sit around and visit. "Perhaps once the house is empty again I'll send for you." She said softly before leaning back on the couch; drawing her feet up next to her. "See you later Uncle Taro." |
Hikari nodded and smiled when he told her to put the things to good use. "I certainly will. Thank you again." she said as she picked up what he'd given her and stood. "And I will see about the letters." she said with a smile. She backed up to give him room to get out of the space where he was sitting. She smiled again when he said that it was a pleasure to meet her. "The same to you, Mr. Taro." she said with a slight bow. "I hope I can meet you again." She watched as he went to the door and left then went to close the door once he was out of sight. Once he was gone she finally walked back over to the chair where he'd been sitting and sat down herself before putting her containers on the table. "He's nice." she said with a smile as she glanced up to Minako.
Minako looked over at Hikari once Taro had left and she'd taken the chair he'd been sitting in. She glanced down at the containers as they were set on the table and then back to Hikari and nodded softly. "Well, he's always been nice to everyone." She paused. "It helps to be that way too, when you're a doctor. He works all over the territory on special cases. People will send for him when normal means just wont work." She gave a soft sigh. "Unfortunately though, the Elders like to keep a close eye on him because of the talents he's got. Along with all the other doctors like him in our area. The Elders don't want that talent falling into 'enemy' hands as they put it." She shrugged lightly. "I wouldn't worry too much about it though, Uncle Taro is pretty good about watching when he speaks in detail about his abilities. Not to mention he also asked that this house be a safe house, where no follower of the Elders may come." She paused again. "If the Elders ever found out though, that he shared the secret with you..." She stopped and sighed again. "Well... I'm sure you get the picture."
Hikari sighed softly. "Yes, yes... I get the picture..." she said softly, her ears falling back slightly. "I do not intend to tell anyone where I got any of this, or how it works, so don't worry." she said softly. "Evens till, I am by no mens from an enemy territory... As far as I remember your territory is neutral or allied with mine." she told her. "Either way... I don't intend to go broadcasting... Obviously the elders here are more strict that the one that i met with let on..." That just went to show that you definitely couldn't tell a book by it's cover. "I promise I'll be careful with it." she assured her again.
Minako sighed softly. "I didn't mean your clan specifically... I meant it to be in general. Which is kind of how it was explained to me." She said softly. "And as long as Kyran and Taro trust you and the others, then so do I." She paused and quirked a brow slightly when Hikari spoke of an Elder she met; Of course she hadn't known any specifics on what went on at the festival. She hadn't been informed of much and Kyran told her she wasn't allowed to attend this year, so she stayed at home. "Some of the Elders like to be courteous to those from other clans, treat them as one of their own. I guess that is pretty normal for them. But they never let on about our rules and such. Those usually can be different from that of other clans, and if you're not from our clan then you don't really need to know them." She gave a small sigh and leaned over on the arm of the couch. "Now a days I think the only rule that most of the clans still have in common is the one against inter-clan mating..." Her thought trailed off; She continued thinking but didn't speak a word of it. Then glanced back up at Hikari when she realised that she had stopped talking. "...Oh... Um... Sorry... I tend to do that when ever that subject gets brought up."
Hikari nodded slightly and half smiled. "You can trust me." she told her once she said that she would so long as everyone else did. She listened to her until she stopped talking and sighed softly. When she spoke again she just shook her head slightly. "It's alright..." she said softly. She sat there for a moment and then stood up and walked over to sit on the couch beside her. She just put her arms around her and gave her a gentle hug. "I know it's a hard thing to get over..." she told her before releasing her. "...I don't know why things are that way...or why the punishments have to be so harsh... Love is love...no matter who it is between..." she said softly. "...I'm sure your father knew that, though..." she said softly.
Minako sighed softly giving a weak smile after Hikari had released her. "It was a lot harder for Kyran to get over their deaths, he knew them better then I did. I was three when our Mother suddenly passed and then ten when our Father was taken from us. After our Mother died, I didn't see a whole lot of my Father. At least until he met Azami, then he started opening up more." She paused. "Father didn't care too much for the rule against inter-clan mating. He ended up in love with Azami and wanted to be with her. Which I didn't really see anything against either. She made him happy again. She even started living with us, though she rarely left the house. Then one day as I said before they were found out, then separated and executed... At least to my knowledge. I'm not even sure how they were found out..." She mumbled. Kyran would probably scold her for talking this openly about what happened; But she'd never had anyone outside of the family to speak to about it. So it was somewhat comforting being able to talk to Hikari. She glanced back over to her and gave another weak smile. "The day that the Elders guards broke into this house and ransacked the place to get at them, I don't think it ever really leaves our memory. Mine or Kyran's. It's like a horror movie that replays in your mind over and over again..." She shut her eyes for a moment, taking a breath and trying to force the thought from her mind. After mentioning it, of course her mind had wanted to do a full play back of that day. "The whole inter-clan mating thing really doesn't bother me, nor does it bother Kyran. We we're raised to not to judge by clan. But ever since that day Kyran's been trying to stick to that rule a little more each day. He doesn't want to see what happened to Father and Azami happen again to someone he cares about. So don't let him fool you, he pretends to be against falling in love with someone from another clan... Though I'm pretty sure he can only pretend for so long."
Kyran had slept for a while, though finally waking up when he accidentally kicked Nobu in the side resulting in Nobu whining loudly and then chewing on the foot that Kyran kicked him with. He's already sat up in bed and thrown his legs over the side of the bed. Feeling better already; Though not fully up to par. He could still use a little more rest, just to get back the remainder of his energy. He stretched his arms up over his head and listening to them making a slight popping noise before dropping them back down to his lap. He glanced down, examining his chest for a moment, running his hand over it. He sometimes found it hard to believe that his Uncle could so such work. He smiled softly and then stood up, throwing his arm out to the wall to catch himself as he straightened himself up. He was a little wobbly since he hadn't been on his feet in awhile. Once he was up straight he started to walk towards the door, stopping for a moment once he passed by his mirror; He sighed and lifted a hand trying to straighten out his hair a little but gave up and continued out of his room. He was still in nothing more then his dark wash jeans; Since it was his house he was in no hurry to put more clothes on. He started down the stairs rather quietly just happening to come in on the end of their conversation. His dark purple eyes trailed over to his sister immediately, with a displeased look on his face. "...Minako..." He muttered, in a stern voice; Much unlike any he'd used before. Clearly hoping that saying her name like that would be enough to get her to stop talking about that subject all together. |
Hikari sat there silently, listening intently to what Minako had to say and nodding in all of the appropriate places to make sure that she knew she understood and was still listening. Her ears fell back a little while she spoke of it...after all it was an unpleasant subject. She placed her hand lightly on the girl's shoulder again when she had to close her eyes. Her hand went back to her lap again once she resumed talking and she nodded. She really hadn't thought about Kyran thinking of anyone outside of his clan in any way other than a friend, honestly, the way he talked, he didn't seem to like anyone in that respect. She started to respond but before she could speak she heard Kyran's voice and nearly jumped out of her skin. She looked up to the stairs and sighed, "Oh, Kyran...Are you sure you should be up?" she asked quickly as she stood, well aware of his tone. She was tying to change subjects quickly before he got onto Minako too badly for talking about all of that.
Minako had a weak smile on her face, the subject she'd been talking about dampened her spirits, but knowing that Hikari was listening and letting her vent all of this made her feel a little better about it all. Her slight smile faded as soon as she heard her brothers voice and her ears shot back instantly. She knew a scolding was coming. Both her and Kyran had agreed not talk about that stuff outside of the family. It wasn't exactly something to be proud of, and it was bad enough that a good number of clan already knew of it and mocked them on occasion. She sat up rather quickly, tilted her head down and started to fidget with her hands. "...K-Kyran..." She stuttered. "I-I'm s-sorry..." She mumbled, not lifting her eyes at all; Avoiding eye contact all together.
Kyran glared over at Minako for a moment longer before he continued down the rest of the stairs. He glanced over at Hikari briefly, acknowledging what she'd said but let his attention go back to his little sister. His anger at her speaking on such a topic faded slightly when he noticed the way she was practically cowering. He sighed heavily and then shook his head lightly. "...Just go upstairs to your room." He paused then looked away from her. "And don't talk to anyone else about this, Alright." Minako lifted her eyes for only a second when she heard his whole tone change. She was a little surprised that he hadn't gone off yelling at her for what she did. She stood up slowly and started to walk towards the stairs. She paused for a moment next to her brother, still not looking up at him. "I'm sorry... I just wanted to talk to someone about it..." She mumbled before continuing on upstairs. She didn't stop until she made it to her bedroom where she'd opened the door, then shut it behind her. She gave a soft sigh of relief as she walked over to her bed and plopped herself down on it. Kyran had never really gone and yelled at her, only ever said her name in that same stern tone. Though she was never sure when the day would come where he'd finally continue on talking to her in that voice. It actually rattled her nerves slightly, considering how nice he usually was all the time. She moved a little so that she was laying on her stomach and then buried her head into her pillow and shut her eyes. She hated when ever she made Kyran use that tone with her; Even more so because he'd just woken up from trying to recover. Kyran watched as Minako headed up the stairs and then shook his head softly. He knew that subject always bothered her and that she'd needed someone else to talk to other them him and their uncle, but he wasn't so sure he was ready for someone else to hear the whole story. Especially Hikari. He didn't move from where he was standing and his expression rather quickly changed from annoyed to upset. After all of that he was upset that Hikari had to witness the tone he used, and the way he spoke to Minako; Even if it wasn't too much. He rarely had to use that tone with his sister, but still he hated every time he had to and now someone he liked had to see a side of him he wished he didn't have. He shifted his eyes off to the side and absently lifted his hand to rub the back of his head softly. "...I'm sorry you had to see that..." He said quietly. |
Hikari's ears fell back slightly when she looked over to Minako and saw the way that she was acting. She remained quiet and watched her going up the stairs and then sighed softly. Her eyes wandered back to Kyran for a second and then went to the floor. She felt so awkward being caught in the middle of that. She knew that Kyran must not like it very much, either. When he spoke to her she finally looked up to him again and sighed softly when she realized that he wasn't looking at her. "...It's alright, Kyran..." she said softly. She shook her head and walked over to him, gently placing her hand on his arm. "...You shouldn't be upset with her... I didn't mind listening. I think she just really needed to talk to someone..." she said softly. "And I understand..." She tried to tell him. She shook her head and pulled her hand back. "At any rate...how are you feeling?" she asked quietly, again trying to soften the subject material.
Kyran started to lift his eyes slowly, though averting them again once she started to move over to him. "...I know... It's just, I don't think anyone should have to listen to something like that." He paused. "Sometimes it's easier to just try and forget that it even happened, unfortunately the other dragons that know of it, outside of this family like to comment on it when they see her or myself." He sighed softly. "Since we're a neutral territory there isn't always a lot to talk about amongst one another, so when something as big as inter-clan mating happens, the others take it and run with it and don't let it die unless something new and more scandalous happens." He finally looked over at her for a moment. "...I guess it's just hard to believe that everyone who hears that story won't be the same way..." He gave a heavy sigh before walking over to the couch and dropping himself down on it. He leaned back and then let his head fall back. "...I'm feeling alright. Just have to wait for my energy to come back." He lifted his head and looked over at her. "Taro does some good work for a Thunder dragon..." He said with a weak smile.
Hikari nodded slightly and then sighed softly and nodded when he went over to the couch and then followed him to sit beside him. "That he does." she said with a smile, "Actually, he gave me a few things to bring with us." she told him. He was about the only one that she thought it safe to tell where she got the items, and that was mostly just so he wouldn't think that she just took them. She reached over and picked up the bottle that he'd used on Kyran. "Hopefully I won't have to use so much energy with those the next time half of the group nearly gets themselves killed." She smiled weakly and sat it back down again, though her smile faded slightly as she pulled her hand back. "...Really, Kyran...did you honestly think that I would talk about something like that as if it were nothing but gossip? I'd hoped that I wouldn't strike anyone as that kind of person... You have been around me long enough to know better." she looked back to him again and sighed softly. "...I do not even see a scandal in it." She hadn't said anything since she didn't want to interrupt Minako, but really in her territory, inter-clan mating was merely greatly frowned upon in her territory, but it warranted no real punishment...just ridicule by some. Her people's views were much more laid back than most. Many of her people were still very opinionated and self-righteous, but there were also a good handful of people like her who...really just didn't care about the old customs that still clung to many of the clans.
Kyran looked at the bottle when she reached for it and then back to her. "Uncle Taro must have really liked you. He doesn't just give that stuff away to anyone." He said quietly. "He rarely shares it, actually." He let his eyes trail off to the side again after hearing what she said. He sighed softly. "I've survived six years of ridicule on the subject Hikari, I'm just so used to that type of reaction; Regardless of the person." He paused and started to look back over at her. "After awhile, you just start to expect the same thing. I'm sure that you can relate to that, in some facet of your life." He let his head drop back again, though he didn't lift it this time. "You know what, I'm sorry for even lumping you in with the rest of the asses out there. I shouldn't have, because you're right I do know you a little better then that." He sighed again and lifted his arms up and crossed them over his chest gently. The whole subject now that he was thinking back on it really annoyed him. He hated every single person who ever said one word of ill-will towards his Father or Azami. They didn't do anything more then love one another and last time he checked there was nothing against love. He shut his eyes and grumbled quietly for a moment; Angry that most of the clans followed such a rule. Who could really predict who they'd fall for? And so what if it happened to be someone from another clan. He sure as hell could care less if the girl he ended up in love with was from another clan, but even speaking such words in his territory could be held against him.
Hikari kept her eyes on him this time when he spoke and remained quiet until he said that he was sure she could relate. "...I suppose..." she agreed, though she couldn't really think of anything at the moment. She sighed softly when he apologized and shook her head. She turned to the side and leaned against the couch facing him as she placed her hand on her arm. "...You don't need to apologize, Kyran, it's alright." she said softly, "...I just want you to remember that you can talk to me...anyone can. I'm not going to judge you or anyone else based on beliefs that I don't share with the majority of people. Love is love in my eyes...and love is blind to the prejudices of the rest of the world." She offered him a slight smiled and then sat up. "And here..." she said as she reached into the front of her pack to pull out her comb, "Comb your hair down before I do it myself." she said with a soft laugh. She was trying to put him in a good mood again and show him that what she knew about his family wasn't going to change a thing unless he wanted it to.
Kyran lifted his head from the back of the couch when he heard her ask him to comb his hair. He looked over at her for a moment and then let his eyes fall on the comb that she had pulled from her pack. He couldn't help but laugh softly; He knew his hair could be a little unruly but he never thought it was bad enough that someone else threatened to do something about it. "It wasn't that bad when I looked at it upstairs..." He said quietly while lifting his hands and running them through his hair trying to straighten it out again. It didn't take him long to give up on fixing his hair again then he let his hands drop back down to his lap. He looked back over at her for a moment and then let his eyes wander everywhere but back to her for awhile. He couldn't believe that he was actually having this conversation, with her even. He sighed lightly. "That's how our Father raised us. Though his words were a little different. He used to tell us that 'Love had no boundaries'. Both Minako and I have tried to continue to believe that even now, but it's hard to when something bad like that happens. It makes it hard to keep your beliefs." He paused. "Not to mention that in my job, I'm supposed to abide by all of the rules, all of the time. So I'm stuck somewhere in the middle, trying to decide what I should follow. My original belief or the one forced upon me by the clan." He sighed once again and then started to look over at her. "Choosing to keep my original belief though could in the end cause a lot of trouble for myself and my sister. Of course I'd end up removed from my job, and banned from any job of importance like that. Then everyone in the clan would learn about me losing the job, which would make it harder to get an average job. Then, with no job Minako and I would lose this house... And everything would go down hill from there." He sighed heavily and then looked away from her again. "Unfortunately my job weighs heavily on what I believe in. It's a constant conflict and I doubt it'll ever come to an end because half of me is unwilling to accept that the one I fall in love with will be from my clan." He finally stopped talking for a moment before it dawned on him that he was for the most part doing exactly what he told Minako not to do. He shook his head lightly. "I really shouldn't bore you with all of this..."
Hikari smiled and laughed softly when he tried to fix his hair again and just tucked her comb away since he apparently wasn't going to use it. She watched him as his eyes went everywhere but at her and sighed softly, half wanting to grab his face and make him look at her. It was so awkward when someone couldn't even look in your direction when they were talking, though she realized that she tended to do the same thing when she was on a subject like this. She listened to him as he spoke about what his father used to say and about his beliefs, deciding not to interrupt him while he was talking. When he finished she smiled weakly and shook her head. "...You aren't boring me, Kyran." she said softly. "...I've always thought that a job that drives you away from what you believe was hardly worth having...but that is just me. I realize how important it is to the both of you." She smiled slightly and tilted her head. "As for the person that you fall in love with...there's no need to rule out the females in your clan. I saw a number of nice young woman at the festival." she said with a soft laugh, "You never know until you start talking to them, I guess..." She sighed softly, a small smile still on her face as she looked away. "I'm sorry, I suppose that doesn't help. Obviously, I am not too good with relationships." She never really tried looking for love because she already knew that nearly any arrangement that she got into would be political and she would just cause a huge uproar if she tried to go against it. "...I know it probably isn't much... But if something ever did happen...you and Minako would be more than welcome in my territory. There are members from every clan there...well except for one." she said, as she glanced back to him, supposing he could guess which one that was. "...Glenys has always been a sort of safe haven for practically anyone. In spite of our king's recent...idiocy, our people are still quite liberal." she said simply. "So if all else fails...I hope that can ease your mind a little."
Kyran nodded slightly and looked over to her. "I appreciate the offer, but if we ever left here to live in you're territory we wouldn't be allowed to come back here; Well... without really working at being allowed to return." He paused. "We may be a neutral territory but unfortunately alongside that is the pride our clan has... If that makes any bit of sense." He sighed softly. "As for relationships, if you couldn't tell I'm not exactly any good at them either. I'm twenty two and I think I've had three unsuccessful relationships. Two of them failed because they met my Father and Azami. The other, well... our personalities just didn't mesh. I just kind of took a step back after that... Not to mention as I said before word gets around pretty fast in the clan and a decent number of the clan know of what happened in the family and no one wants to get involved in that history. Not a lot of girls are willing to put up with the ridicule that still goes on from time to time." He shrugged slightly. "Sadly, what happened with my Father and Azami still effects me today..."
Hikari nodded slightly and sighed. "...Well it was simply an offer..." she said softly, "I kind of figured that you would not be allowed back, but I also assumed that if you were desperate enough to come there you would not want to come back." she said simply. She half smiled when he mentioned his relationships. "I see...well you still have me beaten by three." she said simply as she shook her head. "I never bothered ever trying. No one that I would choose would be approved of. I may not care but that doesn't mean that everyone else doesn't. I suppose it is sort of like your job... I have to look good." she said rolling her eyes. "Meaning I'll probably get saddled with some snooty, ill tempered, know-to-all that is going to be in danger of drowning every time it rains." she muttered under her breath. She sighed again and closed her eyes as she leaned her head back. "...I guess it can't be helped. That is the way people are. They look at one person and expect the entire family to be that way. ...I suppose depending on the case that can be either a good thing or a bad thing."
Kyran sighed lightly after listening quietly to what she had said. "Well... if you hold out long enough maybe one of the guys put before you won't be a complete waste of space." He shifted his eyes again though this time focusing for a moment on the book on the table. Not really interested in it, but it was something to look at. He could completely understand how the arrangements went in royal families, it was his job after all to know such things. Though at the same time he couldn't help but think that tradition should be thrown out the window and even the royals should have the right to be with whom ever they wanted. "If you don't mind Hikari, I'd like to not dwell any longer on this subject. I can only be reminded of my poor luck with girls before it starts to bother me." The whole subject really did bother him after awhile, it was something he hadn't talked about for quite some time and then being reminded of his relationships only agitated him more. Though he was only really bothered by it because he was slightly jealous of his father's ability to have found love twice, and once from another clan; Not to mention at a relatively young age. His father hadn't been too much older then Taro before he died. He shifted his eyes away again, lowering them slightly. His father was just better with women, apparently.
By now it was just approaching sun down, which of course meant that it wouldn't be too much longer before night appeared. LaRae had actually managed to sleep decently once Taro had finished working on her wings. She'd started to roll over onto her side, rather close to the edge of the bed. She managed to wake just in time to try and catch herself from rolling right off. She'd thrown her hand out to grab the nearest thing to her; Which just so happened to be Nanashi. |
Hikari made a face when he said that she should hold out. "Maybe..." she said dryly. Her eyes went back to Kyran again and she smiled weakly after he said that he would like to drop the subject. "Yes, of course." she said softly. "I'm sorry, I just pick a topic and stick on it." she said, shaking her head slightly. "I even try to change subjects and end up right back where I was before." The fact that she'd tried to change the subject onto what Taro had given her and then had to speak up again about what Kyran had said was a prime example. She smiled at him a little more and then stood up, turning back to him for a moment. "Look at it this way...I've been presented with some of the most desirable guys in my area, and I like you better than all of them put together. So either you're not as bad as you think or there are people out there who are way worse." She said with a soft laugh as she went to give him a little hug. "So I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. I'm certain you can find someone who can see how good you are and ignore anyone who says otherwise." She seemed confident enough in that at least. She didn't stay that close to him for too long before she was off the couch again and looking back toward the door. "Anyway, I've been in here all day, I think I'm going to go take a walk before it gets pitch black outside." she told him, already heading for the door. "See you in a little bit." she told him before stepping outside, hardly leaving him any time to respond.
Nanashi's eyes shot open suddenly when LaRae grabbed onto him and he rolled over to his side quickly, reaching out to grab her to keep her from falling. He caught her arm and pulled her back and then sighed. "Careful, LaRae..." he said softly before sitting up. "Are you alright?" He looked like he was still trying to slow his breathing. She'd nearly scared the life out of him when she grabbed him since he was half asleep and not really paying attention. |
Kyran listened to her and was keeping quiet until she was finished speaking; Intending to say something, though he was going to keep it short. Before he knew it she'd given him a hug and had started on her way out the front door. He sighed heavily once she had left to go on her walk and then slouched even more on the couch. "...Well... That was the fastest any conversation has been dropped... At least when I've asked." He said quietly still staring at the door for a moment as if he was waiting for her to come back. He shook his head lightly and started to get up off the couch. Rather then sit there doing nothing by himself he thought about heading back up stairs; Perhaps have a shower. He made it over to the stairs and started heading back to the top. Thinking for a moment about something Hikari had said; If he had to chose between the two she'd said he'd be leaning towards there being worse people then him. Once he made it to the top of the stairs he headed straight back to the bathroom, quietly shutting the door behind him and then locking it. He'd ignored everything else that was going on while he headed down the hall to the bathroom. He gave another sigh as he walked over to the shower and turned it on, letting the water warm up. While he waited on the water he couldn't help thinking about what she'd said again. Out of all those 'desirable' guys she liked him better then all of them put together? He shook his head softly. "...You sure about that...?" He mumbled; That would've been the one thing that he'd asked her, except for she'd already left the house. He reached over and slipped his hand under the water to check the temperature; Then went to remove the the remainder of his clothing before stepping into the shower.
LaRae laid right back down where she was once she was safely back on the bed. She took a moment to catch her own breath since she'd practically stopped breathing as soon as she noticed she was slipping off the bed. "...I'm sorry... You were the closet thing I could grab..." She said quietly as she started to sit up herself. "Yes, I think I'm okay. Just went to roll over and... well.. almost rolled right off." She gave a soft chuckle, slightly embarrassed to say the least. |
Hikari sighed as she got outside and continued forward, just walking in a straight line once she was out the door, mainly so she wouldn't get turned around out here and lost since mostly everything looked the same. Her eyes went to the ground as she walked and her mind wondered back to their conversation. She didn't really feel like going for a walk, but she thought that would be the best way to make sure that the conversation stayed dropped. She was also thinking a little on what she'd said to Kyran as well. Sure she had been saying that in hopes of making him feel better about himself, but the more she thought about it, the more true it seemed. She had been introduced to the men that many of the girls in her clan would have given their wings to even get close to and she didn't give a rip about any of them. All of them had seemed so full of themselves and so confident that she was going to fall for him over the other wealthy pigheaded snobs that had come before him. She much preferred Kyran's company over any of theirs. Good looks aside, he was modest, funny, and not afraid to voice his opinions. He wasn't fake, mean spirited, or overly moody...he was just...well Kyran. Maybe that was why she spent so much time around him on this trip. He was one of the most decent men that she'd ever met. The more she thought about it, she honestly thought that given the popper chance she could definitely stand to marry him or whatever before anyone else that she knew. She didn't know if it was love or just good compatibility, but either way...she knew it couldn't happen. She couldn't even mention it to him after that conversation and get him all upset again, and she couldn't do that to Minako. Also there was no way that her father would hear of it, and as much as she hated to admit it...neither would most anyone else. She really didn't understand why people couldn't look past clan and culture and see just the person for who they were, but she knew that whether she understood it or not there was nothing one person could do to change it. It was like Nero had said before...one light dragon couldn't make everyone get along and like each other.
Nanashi smiled and laughed softly, shaking his head. "It's alright." he told her simply. "It happens. Anyway...it's been a while. How are your wings?" he asked with a slight smile as he looked over to her again, shifting his position a little so that he could face her. "Do you want me to see if that...stuff has loosened yet or play it safe and wait a little longer?" |
