Celestine blinked when Aamori grabbed onto his foot and raised it off the ground, shaking it slightly. He sighed and finally just sat down and shook his head slightly. He gently pushed on her shoulder and tilted his head slightly as he looked at her. After a moment he just half smiled and put his hand on her head lightly. "Why are you sleeping out here, huh?" He asked softly. He wasn't really expecting an answer, she still looked like she was out of it.
Aamori didn't let go of his foot until he started to shake it; Which resulted in her hands dropping down against the ground. That motion was enough to at least make her stir a little. She continued to lay there without moving again even when he pushed on her shoulder. Though when he touched her head and asked the question her eyes clearly moved a little under her lids. After a few moments her eyes cracked open slightly, barely enough to notice she'd opened them. She didn't focus on anything mostly because she was still tired but she had registered the question at least. "...I didn't ...want to leave ...LaRae by herself." She said tiredly. She managed the one response before her eyes fell shut on her again and she was back asleep.
Celestine half smiled and shook his head slightly before patting her head lightly where his hand was resting. He sighed softly and stood up again before starting to head back around the house. He guessed the girls were alright out there. Finally he just went back to the porch and sat down near Nobu before taking a small bite out of the apple. He reached down to lightly rub Nobu behind the ears before he pulled his hand back and just leaned his aback against one of the beams that held up the porch's roof. He side glanced at Nero, but again didn't bother the guy. That was one person he didn't see himself messing with too much.
Nobu had been asleep, at least until he got rubbed behind the ears. He stretched a bit on the porch and looked up at Celestine. '...How did you sleep?' He asked as tilted his head to the side slightly. He was staring at the apple that he had, though he wasn't really all that hungry. He just had a addiction to apples; They were, of all the foods, his favorite.
Aamori probably would have stayed asleep for a while longer but she'd forced herself to try and wake up again when felt her head patted. It took her a good couple of minutes but she'd gotten her eyes open fully and had to shield them from the sun while they focused. She gave a small yawn and then started to sit up, lifting her hand to rub her eyes softly. She glanced down at LaRae for a moment and half smiled. LaRae could probably sleep through just about everything sometimes. Since it was morning she didn't see any reason why she couldn't leave her there, she'd probably end up waking up anytime now on her own. She then climbed to her feet and stifled another yawn. She was still a bit tired but figured she'd gotten enough sleep to keep her up for the day. She finally wandered back towards the front of the house while trying to run her hands through her hair to straighten it back out. |
Celestine sighed softly and shook his head slightly. "I slept." he thought simply, "Of course I can barely tell that I slept..." He glanced down to Nobu again and noticed him looking at the apple. He just smiled slightly and held it out to him. "Want it?" he asked simply. He could get another one later. He wasn't overly hungry right now, anyway, he just thought he'd best grab something since he didn't eat anything but that pancake the day before. Of course he was sure by now that Sonia was up cooking breakfast. He could get something then if it was eatable. His ears twitched slightly when he heard someone walking in the grass and he turned his head to see Aamori round the corner. He just stared at her for a moment and then looked away again. "Good morning, Aamori."
Nobu looked at Celestine for a moment before reaching out to take the apple from his hand. Of course he was careful about taking it from him; He'd accidently nipped Minako and Kyran a couple times trying to take stuff from their hands before. Once he had the apple he tossed it into the air himself and then ate it once he caught it. He looked back over to Celestine. '...Did you at least have the dream you needed to have?' He asked and then noticed Aamori. He laid right back down on the porch when she wandered over.
Aamori glanced up from her hair when she heard Celestine. She smiled a little. "...Morning." She said simply when she came to a stop near him. She just stood there quietly while she continued to run her hands through her hair. She'd make a face every time she hit a tangle or a knot and then give a small sigh as she tried to work it out of her hair. At times like this she really wished she'd been aware of what she was getting herself into when she went to that festival; She might have at least packed a brush or something. She looked over at him again briefly. "...Did you need something?" |
Celestine glanced to Nobu and sighed softly. "Yes...I did... About three times..." He thought back to him before he looked at Aamori again. "No, I didn't need anything... I was just wondering why you were sleeping out back instead of in the house." he said simply. He watched her try to untangle her hair and shook his head. "There is a comb in my room. Go use that." he said simply, "It works better." He sighed softly and reached over to rub the top of Nobu's head again. "You know where it is, right? I think I left the door open."
Nobu shifted slightly and looked over at Celestine for a moment before laying his head right back down. He continued to just lay there quietly.
Aamori gave a soft sigh and stopped running her hands through her hair. "I intended to sleep inside at first." She stared. "But I noticed once Kanone and I got back last night that LaRae wasn't anywhere in the house... So I ended up looking for her." She paused. "When I found her out back I tired to wake her up, but she's a heavy sleeper... and there was no way I could carry her inside... So I just stayed outside with her." She said lightly. She then started to mess with her hair again for a moment before looking back at him when he mentioned his comb. She continued to look at him for a moment before looking away. She did know where his room was, she'd peeked inside briefly last night but she didn't want to go up there and hunt down the comb. She just thought it'd be weird to go looking around in his room if he wasn't in there. "...Thanks anyway... But I think I'll be okay just using my hands." She said quietly as she went back to working through her hair. |
Celestine looked up to her for a moment and then shook his head slightly before he stood up and dusted himself off. He had a feeling that the only reason she wasn't going in was because he hadn't offered to come with her. "You need to do something with your hair anyway. It's going to be hell trying to get through those woods if you leave it down like that." he said simply. He planned to tie his hair back out of the way as well before they left. "Come on..." He said simply before turning to head back into the house. "I'll go find it..."
Aamori glanced over when she noticed him standing up and then gave a small sigh as she let go of her hair and dropped her hands back down to her sides. She would've commented that if her hair hadn't given her trouble in the woods then it was probably going to be her sandals; But rather she just kept her mouth shut. She watched as he headed towards the door and then followed after him. She wasn't very fond of having to do anything with her hair. She was much more comfortable with it down and the only times she ever had to have it up and out of the way was when she did her physical combat training. She gave a sigh and came to a stop once inside the house. She didn't plan to go anywhere since he said he'd find the comb.
Celestine started toward the stairs and then paused and glanced back to Aamori again. "...Are you coming?" he asked simply before he started climbing the stairs. He guessed it really didn't matter if she came or not, but he just didn't really want to have to come all the way back down stairs again to give the comb to her. He sighed as he walked down to his room and pulled open the small drawer at the top of his dresser below the mirror and started to shift around. He was pretty sure that he had a brush as well. He really couldn't believe that all of his things were still here. He blinked when he found a long satin hair ribbon with cherry blossom petals painted on each end as if the wind was blowing them away. He just pulled it out for a moment and stared at it for a few minutes before he went back to looking for the brush. He finally found it buried under a few old notebooks and pulled it out to lay on the dresser beside the comb before he closed the drawer. He still had the ribbon in his other hand.
Aamori continued to stand there for a moment until she heard Celestine ask if she was coming. She glanced over at him and then gave a slight nod. She was planning to wait for him, but since he asked if she was coming she decided to follow after him. She wandered over to the stairs and started up them after he'd already gone up. She then walked down the hall quietly and came to a stop at his bedroom door. She peeked inside much the same way she had last night. It took her a moment but she did finally step inside and stand by the door. She glanced over at him briefly before her eyes trailed around the room.
Celestine turned his head when Aamori came into the room and looked at her for a moment before he picked up the comb and walked over to her, holding it out for her. "Here." he said simply, waiting for her to take it. Once the comb was out of his hands he walked back to the dresser and laid the ribbon down finally before he picked up the brush and walked back over to the bed. He sat down on the edge of the bed and flipped his long mess of hair over his shoulder to start brushing out the tangles that he'd gathered while he slept.
Aamori's eyes came back and rested on Celestine when he walked over and handed her the comb. "...Thank you.." She said quietly as she took the comb from him and looked down at it for a moment then lifted her eyes and watched him set that ribbon down on the dresser that he'd been holding. She continued to just stand where she was. She'd already pulled her hair back over her shoulder and started to comb through it, carefully trying not pull her own hair in the process.
Celestine just sat there silently, sliding the brush through his hair without too much trouble. Finally he flipped his hair back over his shoulder and looked up to Aamori again. "You know you can sit down if you want." he said simply. He watched her with the tangles in her hair for a moment before he shook his head. "...Do you need any help?" He asked finally. He wasn't too much of a hair stylist, but his hair was long enough that he at least knew how to handle it. He about had to the way that he lived outside, if he didn't keep all the stuff out of it, he was bound to have mats in his hair.
Aamori glanced up from her hair when she heard Celestine. She lingered there for a moment longer before she moved away from the door and closer to the bed to sit down. She glanced back over to him briefly when he asked if she needed any help. She looked down at the comb momentarily and then shook her head slightly. "..No. I can do it." She paused. "I'm just tender headed." She added before going back to combing through her hair.
Celestine nodded slightly. "Alright." he said simply before he got up again and set the brush down on the dresser, almost bumping the face-down picture frame off the dresser. He caught it quickly and slid it back away from the edge before he started to gather his hair behind him. He then held it with one hand as he tried to smooth it back with the brush and then held his hair again while he put the brush down and picked up the ribbon, holding it in his mouth while he reached back with both hands and started braiding his hair loosely. He only braided it down to about his shoulder blades, which was about as far as he could reach, and then brought one hand forward to take the ribbon from his mouth so he could tie off the end of the braid. Well it wasn't the best job he could have done, but it would at least keep his hair behind him. He also made sure not to tie that ribbon into a bow, it was girly looking enough as it was.
Aamori finished combing through her hair finally and set the comb down in her lap while she ran her fingers through her hair briefly making sure she got all the knots. She also rather liked how soft her hair felt when it'd just been brushed. She watched when Celestine got up and went to set the brush down; Her eyes catching the frame that he caught. She quirked a brow slightly, curious to know why it was laying face down in the first place, and why he put it back face down. She gathered her hair and set it back over her shoulder and then looked over at him again after he finished with his hair. "Why do you keep that frame face down?" She asked as she started to get up from the bed. She wandered over to him and held the comb out. "And, where do you want this?"
Celestine turned back around again and glanced at the frame when she mentioned it before reaching out to take the comb. "...I just didn't want to look at it." he said quietly. He opened the drawer again and put the brush back and then started to put the comb in there as well, but instead he just closed the drawer and went back to the little leather bag that he carried with him and dropped it in there. He'd probably be needing that a lot later with as much traveling as they were doing. The last thing he needed was a bunch on knots in his hair.
Aamori waited until he moved away from the dresser to reach over and pick up the frame, quietly. He said he didn't want to look at it but that didn't mean she couldn't. She looked down at the picture in the frame once she'd turned it over. She wasn't really all that surprised to see that it was a picture of him and his parents. At least she'd gathered that much because she recognized his mother thanks to his dream. She gave a soft smile and then glanced over at Celestine. "...At least this explains why you're using such a girly ribbon in your hair." She commented quietly.
Celestine just paused where he knelt for a moment before he stood up, though he continued staring down at his bag for a moment. "...It was her favorite ribbon." he said simply before he went back to sit on the bed again. "She wore it almost all the time, I thought it was weird to see her without it." he said quietly. "....Anyway, I didn't have anything else to put my hair back with." He said simply. He finally looked back over to Aamori again for a moment before he dropped his eyes again. "...I miss her..."
Aamori glanced back down at the picture for a moment. "You don't have to go giving excuses as to why you used it." She paused. "Just because it was hers is more then enough of a reason." She said lightly. She was pretty sure that there were other things that could be found to tie back hair, so she didn't really believe that was the only thing available. She gave a soft sigh and then went to set the picture up right on top of the dresser before walking back over to the bed. She didn't sit down, she just stood there and looked down at him for a moment before glancing back at the picture. "...If you miss her, you should honor her by keeping the picture up right and look at it whenever you get the chance." She said quietly. She felt that pictures were supposed to bring pleasant memories, not sad ones.
Celestine looked up to her slowly when she came to stand in font of him and then started to look back toward the dresser again, but his eyes didn't quite make it before they went back to his lap again. "...I can't." he said quietly. He couldn't stand and look at his mother's face without wanting to cry, even now. It was hard enough to look at his own reflection for the strong likeness there. "It's been eight years... and even now I can still hear her voice or smell her perfume...and then I turn around and I can't believe that she's not there..." he said quietly as his ears fell back. He lowered his head a little more, trying to hide the fact that there were tears already jerking at the corners of his eyes. One old thing that as young as he had been when she died that he would be able to live with it by now...but then again no one knew how close he was to her either. He'd always loved her more than anything in the world, and even though he understood death, he always expected her to be around for a very long time.
Aamori continued to stand there quietly listening to what he said. She gave a soft sigh. She wasn't exactly sure what she could say to him to comfort him; She'd never been in this sort of situation before. She glanced back towards the picture for a moment and then looked back down at him. "...Why can't you look at it?" She paused. "...Are you afraid you'll cry?" She asked quietly. She couldn't think of any other reason as to why he couldn't look at her picture, so she assumed that must be why. "...It's okay to cry sometimes Celestine..." She paused. "It might even make you feel better..." She added before she started to fidget with her hands in front of her.
Celestine just kept his head down. "...Crying never did anyone any good." he said simply, "...It doesn't change anything...and it doesn't bring people back." He still couldn't look up to Aamori, but for some reason he still felt like talking to her. He just couldn't talk to Sonia or Kanone about any of this. Aamori was different, he was never going to see her again after this trip, and he didn't expect her to say much. He could never get much in when he spoke to Sonia because she never shut up and Kanone never really listened; he'd just pat him on the head and walk away. "The day she died... I'd gotten into a silly fight with my father. I wanted him to come out and play with me, but he was too busy... he was always pretty busy, so... I just wanted him to take a break and spend time with me." He sighed softly, "...Mother decided that she'd take us out, just so I would came down. That's why we were out there in the field..." he said quietly, "If we'd stayed in the village...she might have had a better change to get away..." He balled his hands up in his lap and closed his eyes. "...After everything...I could barely remember a thing for a long time... I knew she was gone... I knew I was never going to see her again... but I never cried... I couldn't... it just...wouldn't come. Everyone thought there was something wrong with me, but I... I just couldn't...feel anything. I didn't want to feel anything... And now...I still wish that I didn't..."
