Most Gory movie you've seen?
Well, I just finished watching Land of the Dead a few minutes ago, which gave me the idea to make this topic. What's the goriest movie you've ever seen? Land of the dead would be mine so far. I've seen a few zombie movies, but this one was far more gory than the others.
I mean, I saw guts! That was a first XD It was an awesome movie, though. A girl's belly button ring was ripped out! O: There were definitely some cringe-worthy moments. So discuss the goriest movie you've seen, and what parts made you cringe, etc. Bring'em on! Oh, on a smaller note, do you have to be in the 'mood' to see gore? I have to be in the right mood before I can handle watching too much gore. I tried watching Dawn of the Dead one time when I wasn't in the mood. I couldn't take it. XD When I'm in the 'mood', it doesn't phase me much at all. |
I am definitely not one for gore XD;; I don't care much for horror movies, but I end up seeing a lot of historical ones with blood and guts. I think "Gladiator", "300", and "Mr. Brooks" are definitely among the goriest ones I've seen, at the very least. Thing is, if it's over-the-top enough and looks like movie blood, it doesn't bother me quite as much. Last two scenes of "Mr. Brooks" definitely turned my stomach, though, for sure, but "300" actually didn't bother me all /that/ much.
One that comes to mind that really got to me was "No Country for Old Men". It was so straight up and simple and didn't seem to go for the overly dramatic in terms of the blood. It's just like, "Hey, here's a guy getting offed with a shotgun. Bam. There you have it. Blood everywhere." "Beowulf" had the most guts as far as I can recall having seen. I'm still surprised that movie got off with just a PG-13 rating. *squirms* XD;; |
House of Wax.
Most disgusting and bloodiest movie I have ever seen XD There were parts where people's heads were chopped off, bit of bloody body parts everywhere. You could have really felt the intensity of it all. XD |
I'm not even sure I should give out the name of the goriest movie I've seen... It's kind of... well, inappropriate. For just about everyone. Inappropriate to the point that after the movie was made, when it debuted in the director's home town, they murdered him after the screening they were so disgusted by the film. Not that they were in the right to do that, but I mean, the movie and the director are kind of infamous for the incident.
Rob Zombie movies tend to be on the gory side, but that's only to make up for the fact that he's probably one of the most worthless directors around. Halloween was a travesty, house of 1000 corpses was a huge let down because of the fact that I saw that movie pimped for a good ten years, all kinds of rumors surrounded it about how it was the goriest film ever made and how all of the different studios kept dropping the movie because it was just totally out of line. There was this insane mystique to it. My friends and I in all of our angsty teenage desires wanted that movie in the theatres so we could see it and be completely disgusted. Finally comes out, I'm not even a teen anymore, and it was the biggest pile of crap I've had to sit through in a long time. I never bothered with the Devil's Rejects, I've heard decent things about it, but at this point, Rob Zombie is just... blarg. He started sucking after he broke up White Zombie anyway. Boo. |
Eww, belly button piercing ripped out... I always think of that when I see those piercings, it makes my belly button ache. T__T The goriest I've seen are the Saw movies. :/ @ Wrenja ~ Haha, House of 1000 Corpses is one of my all-time favorite movies. |
@Wrenja ~ :o Your comment about the murdered director intrigued me. I searched Google but didn't find anything.
But back on topic... Offhand I can't really say what the goriest film i've seen is. And I have seen my share. It's just none of them jump out in my mind right now. Also... Gory films are good for a giggle but it's a good horror film that makes me happy. And though often paired, you can have one without the other. |
For me it would be Passion of the Christ or Sweeney Todd...I don't know how well those compare to other movies though...
|
mine was the new version of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre ,not begenings, but the one beofor that.
i hid behind a pillow. and then there was also the Saw set, ya they where a bit much for me too I also heard from my sisters that Hostel was really gory that they told me not to watch it. Im not one for gory stuff i hate it actually it makes me sick.but once i start watching a moive like that i have to finish it. XD |
Probably... 'The Last King of Scotland'.. that was really graphic. I had to get up towards the end because I was practically throwing up after they showed what he did to his wife and then the main character.
It was just a bit too much for me. |
I think the movie with highest rating of gore that I have seen and I can think of off the top of my head is Hostel. That was one gory movie! And they did all sorts of extra gory details, pulling people open and such not just a quick slice and dice like other gory movies. *shudders* I hate the gore but I end up watching the movie anyway! XD
All of the Saw series was pretty gory too, they had a lot of bloody effects in each movie. But not a guy shovelling bloody body parts into a furnace like in Hostel! *shivers again* Eeeeeee! Quote:

The goriest movies I've seen would have to be the Saw series, Hostel and 300.
300 the gore didn't really bother me but the movie was pretty bloody. Even the DVD box cover is bloody, but doesn't give justice to the movie. Great movie though. Hostel to a point was pretty gory and nasty. But the effects were pretty horrible in my opinion. Yea the scenes were a little disturbing, like when the girl jumped in front of the train. >< Just plain nasty. But overall that movie didn't really bother me at all. Well except for the eyeball part. >< The just freaked me out and made my stomach flip. The infamous Saw series. My FAVORITE movie series of all time. I loved every single movie. The first and second ones were a little bit of a snore-fest when it comes to the gore department. Looked a bit low budget. Then the third movie. Incredibly amazing in every aspect. The effects were amazing, and the gore >< oh geez had me and my friends pausing the movie to give our stomachs a chance to settle. Only had to do that like two of three times. Saw four, honestly haven't seen it in it's entirety just yet. Watched clips of it here and there, and had my stomach churning just from those little snip-its. Though I'm looking forward to see the rest of it very soon. |
You know, this thread has made me worry about my memory. o.O After all the horror movies I've seen, I can barely remember the gory parts in most of them. =/ For example, I know I've seen Land of the Dead, but I don't remember a girl getting her belly button ring ripped out. In fact, I can hardly remember what the movie was about.
So I'm going to go with two movies that are fresh in my mind. They're probably not the goriest ones I've seen, but they're the goriest I can remember at the moment. xD Planet Terror. There were quite a few nasty parts in that movie. Most of them ridiculous, but nasty anyway. Feast had some gory parts as well. |
Re: Most Gory movie you've seen?
The most gory movie I've seen.. I don't remember the title, but I think it's Ichi the killer or something....It's a japanese movie....creepy and very gory, although not as bad as the book. It's about a coward who was used by this old guy to become an assassin because even though he's a coward, he's really good at fighting and karate(or was it taekwondo?). He killed with these pair of sharp blades on his shoes by slicing his target when kicking them. And there's this crazy mavia guy who's into BDSM so much that he cut open his mouth only to sew it together, and he want Ichi to near kill him, or something like that. So yeah, it's gory, twisted, andreally crepy type of movie. xPPP |
Cannibal Holocaust =D

I really can't take gore and violence. It makes me cringe, and I can't get the images out of my head. I haven't watched a gory movie in the longest time because I know that I wouldn't be able to handle it.
But back in middle school (or freshman year of high school, I forget), I got tricked into watching Thir13en Ghosts. It scared the bejeebus out of me. I know for a fact that I didn't sleep at all that night, and I was pretty jumpy for a week afterward. It just gave me nightmares, especially the one part where the man was sliced in half by a sheet of glass. My roommate loves horror stuff, though, so sometimes I'll walk into a room and find her watching really gory films. I saw a few scenes from Audition a little while ago. Creepy stuff. She described the entire movie to me, and I know I'd never be able to watch the entire thing. |
The most gory movie I've ever seen would have to be Suicide Club xD; It's a Japanese horror film, and let me tell you >.> They COMPLETELY threw the subtle, scary imagery tactic out the window xD;; Girls jumping in front of trains and blood being sprayed through the station, people jumping off buildings, chopping off their hands, sticking their heads in the oven, stomping on animals, rape and stabbing murder, I mean, the WHOLE enchilada =___=; (Spoilers in white, by the way xD; All the gory details >.>;; I showed the first because it's seriously, like, the first scene xD; )
I'm actually NOT a fan of gore >.> I like psychological thrillers and scary movies that aren't entirely based on the blood content xD; Usually when I watch a gory movie, I got talked into it xD; My stomach really can't handle it at all, no matter what mood I'm in >.>;; |
Honestly, I absolutely hate any sort of scary, horror, or gorey movie. ><
Kill Bill is an exception, but that amount of blood is just silly, so it's enjoyable. Usualy, i'll completely avoid any sort of horror movie, but my hubby just loves them, so once in a while i'll give in and watch one with him, then have a hard time sleeping. D; I know i'm too old to be scared of movies, or have them ruin my sleep, but I guess i'm just a big baby. Zombies movie can get pretty gorey, but those don't really scare me at all, because it's.... zombies. It still grosses me out though. As for the most goriest movies, it's probably... Saw {1, 2, 3 how ever many there are}, Hostel, Texas Chainsaw Masacare, and the Michael Myers movies. So pretty much the movies that have actual killers that could be realistic and torture, just makes me tingle and want to hide under the blankets. ><; When I watched the newest Michael Myers movie, it wasn't even that bloody, but the whole story just creeped me out. I literaly couldn't sleep all night, but an hour before I had to wake up, I finaly fell asleep and had the weirdest dream. I was driving in the car with my mom, husband, AND MICHEAL MYERS! We were all scared at first, but he was actualy hurt and we wanted to take him to the hospital. So we take him to the hospital, being extra careful not to make him angry. I let him listen to my IPOD, and ask him if he'd like some candy from the vending machine. I ask him, but he keeps mumbling and I say, "what, huh" a couple of times, but I get worried hes going to get mad for having to repeat himself over and over then my alarm went off. <<; Enough of my ramble! x3 |

Hostel and SAW, very gory for me.
Does anyone consider Silent Hill gory? It's bloody all right. I don't love gore, but I love these 3 movies. @Captain Howdy: I haven't heard of that movie, I'll look for that! |
I hate gore movies. Gross.
|
:P I kinda enjoy some mildly gore movies, like Battle Royale or Sweeny Todd, but if there's blood spurting everywhere every five seconds, then no. x.o Over the top gore movies scare me a tad. >.> Especially if my sister is there, screaming her head of every time there's blood.
|
Hanibal Rising I think is pretty gory, but I wouldn't say it's the goriest, just something that popped into my head reading this. x] (btw, I love that movie)
That part in House of Wax where that guy gets the back of his ankle cut with scissors. That makes me cringe every time. |

I don't really like gory movies - especially those that seem to exist for the sake of being gory.
That said, the goriest movie I have ever seen was probably Ricky-Oh - and the goriest documentary was Faces of Death. I saw both as a little kid, so I don't remember the details - that's probably a good thing! XD |
I generally don't go in for gory movies, and certainly not for horror. That said, Gladiator is the one that I remember as being the goriest movie I've seen, but it didn't particularly bother me - it was, I suppose, a general sort of gore. Admittedly, Sweeny Todd might be bloodier, but it is in a sufficiently satirical, or perhaps cartoon-like, way that it somehow doesn't quite count.
The one movie which, for purposes of 'gore', I do not want to see again is, oddly enough, Pan's Labyrinth, which is by no means an epic blood and guts fest. In fact, what I cannot stand about it is that the violence in it is so very personal to individual characters, rather than, say, directed at an entire army. |
