Old? Oh my...
At first I'm sorry if this has already been discussed, but personally I don't remember it or similar topic was too long ago on the first page.
So... even though I'm 19, I still look like 16-17 year-old. And I'm kinda happy about it. This story happened few days a ago, when I wanted to buy a cigarettes for my friend, because of her being late for our meeting. ( In my country Cigarettes and Alcohol are allowed since 18 ) And since I look younger than I actually am, I'm used that epople always ask my documents before selling me something. And this last time the lady didn't ask them 0___o Oh my.. I was so shocked. Do I really look old already? Andyway, discuss someting realted to age limits and being too old or young. |
My Friend's Mum who's in her 40's got asked for ID when we went to the pub recently xD
I used to buy cigarettes when I was 12 and didn't get asked for ID o_0 The only time I got asked for ID was when I was 19. Made me laugh as I could get them with no ID when I was underaged, but not when I was legal  |
Don't feel too bad. The person probably couldn't be bothered to card you at the time.
I love looking young for my age. I'm 21, and I get carded for anything. I mean, I've been carded when I dyed my hair black. Apparently they had a lot of people there who got yelled at by the parents, then the parents came back to yell at them. I looked like elvis until it grew out. It was amazing. Um... Let's see, what's some other fun stuff I've gotten carded for... Cough medicine, super glue, of course my booze and the one pack of cigarettes I've bought. Getting carded just makes me giggle. Makes me still feel young and stuff. :P |
@ Ebil:
Well, I must agree that this is more than weird to as ID from a woman in her 40s. But... its' a good fact too, that she looks so young. Yeah, I often hear similar stories. My boyfrind once told me that he was never asked for any documents at the age 16 or so. And now, hne he is already 20 people start to do it 0__O |
I'm having a quarterlife crisis about turning eighteen in seven months. :[
Everyone thinks I already eighteen or older though. People generally think I am nineteen or in my early twenties, mainly because of my maturity level. Uhm, I can sometimes buy alcohol in the bad part of the city without being carded, but that has more to do with the fact that I'm a girl and not completely disgusting to look at. XD |
Drinking age here is 18, I got ID'd when I tried to buy a half-bottle of wine in a restaurant on my 21st birthday.
Weatherspoons, it's a pub chain, have a policy of not serving anyone without seeing ID first, no matter how they look. My mum got away with it but I haven't been in there without being ID'd, but once we were in a weatherspoons, sat around, the youngest person in our group was 18 and we'd all been to the bar and had the requisit ID checks for drinks, when a member of staff approached our table and ID'd us where we were sat. That was really annoying. |
omg, the exact same thing happened to me too! i'm legal enough to drink, but i look way too young for my age. one time, when i went out to eat, somebody gave me a kid's menu i looked that young. however, the last time i went out to drink at a bar, i didn't get carded. it was an awesome feeling, like i looked mature enough to actually be my age. a lot of people would enjoy looking younger than they actually are, but i certainly don't. i hate being treated younger than i actually am (like a kid) and i think with age comes maturity, wisdom, and respect. i hope this treatment of people actually treating me my age continues in the future. i really do enjoy the respect that comes with people treating me my age.
|
I apparently look a lot younger than I am. I can't even be in a cigarette shop without being carded, even if I'm not buying anything. I was in a casino with my older sister awhile back and I got carded TWICE; not even five minutes apart.
My ex was going to a school for truck driving when we were together and he actually took my id with him one day because the people there had seen me and would not believe I was over 18. He had to miss school one day for a court appointment and they all thought he was going to court for statutory rape. I'm told this whole looking younger thing will make me happy when I get older. |
I have a theory on this thing XD I have glasses, and I have NEVER been asked to show ID, even if I look much older than I am (it's about children's fares on the bus) All my friends were asked, even though they were in fact within the age limit, but I was never asked, even though I look older than them... I think people automatically trust teenagers who wear glasses... ^^ I think their reasoning must be that most teenagers who would lie to get half price on the bus, are teenagers who wouldn't wear glasses even if they had to... Very stereotypical and judgemental, but it's often true... |
I was mistaken for a high school student in my first year of college- a high school student that was below 18. XD. I'm going to assume they thought I was a Junior or something, because they asked if I was 18 yet. o-o;. This wasn't the first time, either. It's a bit annoying at times, but in the long run, it'll be beneficial. :)

maybe she just remembered you? :3
and also, some people do notice the marks of aging better than others. I'm turning 21 this year and people still think I'm on junior high.. -.- and my boyfriend who is the same age as me is mistaken to be about 25-30 years old! |
People usually think i'm older by three or five years. xD Probably when i get my driver's license, they'll think i'm nineteen years old. xD
Plus, my sister and i are almost the same height, and she's seventeen so people think we are close in age difference. <3 |
I'm 19 and I guess I look younger than that. I remember last year when I was a senior in high school, I was talking to a guy in my class who thought I was something like a freshman or a sophomore. I couldn't even convince him I was a senior after I showed him my school ID xP
|
OMG I'm the same way! Back when I was a sophomore in highschool I was walking to school a different way than I normally do for some reason. and I passed a crossing guard that I usually don't pass - and I was waiting for her to cross me and I kept waiting until I was finally like "Will you cross me?" and she looked and me and said "You mean you DON'T go the elementary school right here?" O.O I was like "NO...I'm about to go take exams at the highschool." and she was like "oh...sorry" and crossed me XD
and then my brother who is two years younger than me LOOKS older than me and we go to Rrated movies and they ask my parents if I need a kids ticket but they don't even question my brother about his age when he is underaged. D: and I know I should be like "yes I need a kids ticket" because it's cheaper...but I get so indignant and I'm like "I'M 18 FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!" another time I went to go buy a minifridge for college and my mom was with me. and this was right after I got my first debit card - and my mom was like "pay with your debit card" when we were paying and the guy who was ringing it up was like "SHE has a DEBIT card!?!?!?!" and I was like "I'm 18!!!" and he was like "Oh...well now that I look at you I can see that...I just assumed you were a kid" and I was like "WTF!!!" I was so mad - not only because he thought I was a kid but because it was totally rude for him to say that! Now I'm 18 - I'll be 19 in May - and I feel old but I LOOK so young. It doesn't help that I'm still not 5 feet tall. When people make fun of me - I just tell them that when they're 40 and look like they're 50 or 60 I'll be 40 and still look like I'm in my 30's. lol. and then they shut up :D I hope looking young will have it's perks someday. |
My kids were with me a couple of weeks ago when I decided to stop and get some beer, the guy didn't ask me for id and I thought nothing of it. My daughter thought I should be insulted by that. I'm 40, I don't expect a 20 some year old to not see that I'm well old enough to buy beer. That girl is in for a shock when she gets older.
|
I have to agree a bit with memarcus on this one. I'm about to turn 20 really soon and people that don't know me can't believe it. I'm aware that yeah when I'm older I'll love this, and hey I would love to look twenty when I'm forty, but the down side is how I'm treated sometimes. I've kinda turned all that into a positive for me though since I convinced myself that it's something I should enjoy. :D
|
I have the opposite problem, I'm 14 and I look 18... >:[
I always have old guys hitting on me. One time some 30 year old wolf whistled at me and I was like WTF PEDOOOOO I wish I was in your situation. I don't like looking old. |
A couple years ago, i went on the train once, and when i got off the other end, and had our tickets punched, i got stopped because the guy thought i was 16. At the time i was 15, so i had a childs ticket. He just wouldn't have that i was 15.
I think i look younger than i am in general. |
@ Dearest: Haha^^ I think I should buy glasses for a special occasions. Well, I wanted to buy them anyway and this is another good reason. :3 @ Sagitar: Hm... nope. I have never bought anything from her. At the same time I keep meeting people who ask my documents over and over again. @ Oh, you know, my friends have the same situation. One of my friends is almost 20, but people still think she is 14 and her boyfriend looks like he is in his late 20s. Interesting situation. @ havenmasters: Well yeah, just hope this younger-looking will show up some positive sides later as well. But the situation you have had was rather unpleasant. @ Maria-Minamino: Haha! Your story was rather funny. " Oh... sorry" xD I remember few years ago when my friend was 17 she got asked for her ID, when se wanter to see a horror movie rated R12. She was so mad... 0_o And I shure agree with you, that this is something very unpeasant to hear. I think I'd be mad myself. I actually do just the same thing and laugh telling that I'm gonna be the youngest among my friends when we get older. @ hariihyuuga: This is something that I definately wouldn't like to hear If I were you. Well, actually it depends on person, some people take advantages because they look old. |
my dad looks about 22 even thought he's 43 and my sister who's 21 looks like she's, like, eight. it's pretty funny, actually. as for my other sister and i, we both apparently look her age (nineteen). mer. i'm only fourteen, though.

I look younger for my age
Im short =*[ |
A lot of people tell me I look younger, but I think it's just because I'm small. Whenever I'm walking through the mall, I always see high school girls who look sooo old for their age. xD I haven't even grown since high school and my face looks the same. |
i dont think age matters.
its just a number. XO but... maybe your features tell more than your age. |
I never used to get IDed when I was younger. I remember when I used to go to my dramatics group meetings in a pub and after a month or two a very puzzled barman eventually asked why I never ordered anything and didn't believe that I was under 18 (legal drinking age here). He never did believe it. Till the day I left that group to go to college he swore I was older, and even after that he still served me on the odd occassion I took my dad in.
I was fine, till the day after my 18th birthday and then suddenly everything changed. The pub I'd been drinking at started IDing me and every place thereafter. But it's kinda settled down a bit now although it's still pretty odd. I go out with my friends and some clubs I'll just flash a pretty smile and walk in like I own the joint. No questions, no hassle, then some will stope me and ID me...and I don't carry ID. Mainly because I can't be bothered to buy any. Anyways, we can't figure out a pattern. When I go out with my girl we go to a pretty nice classy (well as far as clubs go) club, but we also go so a club permenantly stuck in the 70's! Where the youngest person after us is in their late 20s/early 30's. And yet and the walkabout I get IDed. It' madness. I should get ID really. |
