ZOMG MY CLOTHES ARE FALLING TO PIECES!!!!

So I bought a new top and fell in love with it, from a designer shop non the less, the first actua designer piece I've bought in years! And I put it on today. Well as I'm walking out of my grammas my aunt asks me "Is that top meant to be ripped?" Which it's not, so we decide I'm to take it back. But I can continue wearing it as it's down near the stomach... Figured I'd just missed a tear.

Get in the car and arrive at my parents...Oh noes! Now there are rips right across the right breast! I've only been sat down in the car! How did those get there?

So we sit and watch stardust as I can't get changed and then I go to work and now on the left collarbone there's another rip! My clothes are literally falling to pieces with me doing nothing but sitting and it's got to the stage where every few minutes I have to keep adjusting the tears on the breast! AT WORK!

So, now you're all laughing at me and my dying scrap of clothing. Here's the discussion.

Has this ever happened to you?
What did you do?
Think I can get a refund even though I left my reciept and grandad has probably binned it?

Julia Caesar 03-03-2008 01:22 AM

XD

This has never happened to me, I'm very sorry to inform you. You'll laugh about it after awhile.

What kind of material was this shirt made of? Tissue paper.

Kamaki Takeda 03-03-2008 01:24 AM

Omi Gosh! That sucks. I know what it's like to have clothes fall apart on you, when, you're doing absolutely nothing! You should demand a refund! Or a top swap.

Kaderin Triste 03-03-2008 01:26 AM

Wow! The worst that's happened with me is that the stitching on the bottom edge of one of my shirts started pulling loose. Oh, and I ended up with a small hole in the side of one.

As for returning it, I don't think you'd be able to without the reciept. Especially since it's from a designer shop.

Oh, and I love Stardust!

Amo_Angelus 03-03-2008 01:49 AM

hehe the tear is right on my nipwip! *arranges her top so she doesn't poke through* I will find it exceedingly funny when I find a new top. *really must keep a spare at work from now on*

I don't know what it's made from, I shall tell you once I take it off and look at the lable...if that doesn't disintegrate first! Always a possability at this rate!

Well I know one of the big honchos there, the only reason I went in was to have a natter with her, so MAYBE she'll be kind. She brings the clothes to one of my charity fashion shows so we get to chat a fair bit, and she does recognise me, so maybe that's in my favour?

Stardust is awesome! Watched it three times in like a week!

Kaderin Triste 03-03-2008 01:58 AM

Well since you know someone from there then your chances of returning or swapping it are better, but still kinda slim.
*crosses fingers for you*

And I know! When I rented Stardust I watched it twice in as many days!
As soon as I have the money I want to buy it!

Winter Wind 03-03-2008 02:21 AM

Oh, jeeeeez.
o____o;
That's never happened to me before.

I dunno about a refund...I mean, the people there will probably think you ripped it.
>__________<;

I hope you can return it! -gives you a good luck clover-

Mythy 03-03-2008 02:27 AM

Holy cow~! That really sucks. XD I hope you didn't spend too much on it.

Designer clothes tend to be a little less durable than clothing you get from wal-mart. I think so anyways. I live off of wal-mart. O.O Which is kind of pathetic, but I don't like designer clothing.
Hell, i won't even go near Abercrombie or Holister. >.<

I can only tell you of a pair of jeans I had. O.O They randomly decided to get a rip....right where the sun don't shine. >.< And it was really big. D:
I used my sweater as a means of covering it up though. >D I absolutely adore sweaters and hoddies. :D I couldn't live without them. The hoodie was the only thing that kept me from dying of embarrassment. D: Luckily nobody noticed the whole that day. >.>

Krissy 03-03-2008 02:29 AM

Wow. My sweater is actually ripping all over the place. However, it's old and I wear it all the time. I don't have any elbows anymore on it. xD But, I still love it.

havenmasters 03-03-2008 02:29 AM

I have never had that happened. Whether you can find the receipt or not, you need to take it back. Explain to them that you bought the shirt there and it just fell apart. If they are good people, then will, at the lease, let you get another shirt.
If they refuse, tell them they should at least check all the other shirts to make sure it won't happen to anyone else. It could just be one of those things that they don't realize is happening.

~PrincessSerenity~ 03-03-2008 03:21 AM

This has never happened to me with newer clothing, but it has with older clothing. I would try to take it back even though you don't have a receipt. Just explained to them what happened and hopefully they'll exchange it or give you a refund.

Caroline 03-03-2008 03:41 AM

I bought jeans ones that I damaged on purpose, rips in the knees and a few worn spots elsewhere, nowhere near the crotch or butt area though. However, after a few weeks, I started getting rips in the crotch. Now there is a huge hole in the crotch that I need to have sewn together before I can wear them again (I'm going to take them in to a tailor because I don't trust my own sewing skills in such an important area, lol). They were $68 jeans, too. I mean, I got them for a lot cheaper because I stuck a clearance sticker on the tag and the guy at the register was flirting with me () but you'd expect jeans at that price to be at least decent and last longer than mine did.

Amo_Angelus 03-03-2008 03:56 AM

well my rips, don't actually look like rips, my boss descriibed it as "Wow it lookslike someone spilled acid or something on it" Mine is "It's disintegrating before my eyes" but the sane people say rips, so that's what I'm calling my disintegrated, slightly discoloured holes.

And that sounds like brands rather than designer I'm afraid....A bit like top shop, gap and new look. I usually get my clothes custom made, so I don't ever have this problem, but I just wanted a quick, new top.

Caroline 03-03-2008 04:26 AM

That's odd.
I'd definitely take it back and try to get a refund.

Yeah, I got those jeans from Urban Outfitters. XD I don't expect anything I get there to last super long, but even the cheapest jeans should last longer than a few months with light wear.

wish 03-03-2008 04:29 AM

That really sucks.. o___o

You should take it back and demand a refund. >__<!

Amo_Angelus 03-03-2008 04:57 AM

Think is, if it weren't directly over the nipple I'd actually love how it had ripped, but it does make it hard to wear :P

I'm going to see if my reciept has been salvaged then take it back I think.

carlyn 03-03-2008 05:30 AM

thats happened to me before, but with designer jeans...

Caddles 03-03-2008 06:17 AM

That's so crazy! It made me giggle! I can't remember ever having that happen to me with clothing... Oh wait, I got one!

I had a jumper once that I once bought, and I had only had it for two days probably, and I saw this loose thread sticking out of the end of it. So what did I do? Naturally, I pulled on it.

It unraveled in front of my eyes. O_______O

It was made of some wooly, cheap material stingy-stuff. And for two days it was a jumper, and then I took it back as a pile of sting. xD;

You're not alone. <3

moonhail 03-03-2008 06:57 AM

Hope you didn't pay too much for it o.o
That's a real bummer though, I'd be horrified if that happened to me, especially since I have the horrible habit of just tossing the tags and receipt without waiting to see how I actually like the item I purchased. Sorry that happened to you though, hope you can get a refund or swap.

Amo_Angelus 03-03-2008 07:04 AM

hehe yep, I tossed mine in the bag and wandered off. :P

LMAO A pile of string? HAH that made me laugh. I feel better now :P

Baja 03-03-2008 07:11 AM

Baja once bent down and ripped my pants open. xD
Luckily I was at my house, the pants were old, and I knew they weren't going to last me too much longer, though.
The only thing I could really do about it, was laugh. xD

memarcus 03-03-2008 10:06 AM

that happens to me all the time, but i always get inconvenient holes in my jeans. i make sure to trash them right away and go searching for some new ones (since by that point they're pretty far gone to begin with) or if i'm in a public place when it happens and that's not an available option, i usually find a way to get a piece of clothing to cover it up. i'm pretty resourceful when it comes to that sort of thing and it's good that when i go out i'm usually surrounded by family or friends that can help me out of complicated situation like that.

serafim_azriel 03-03-2008 10:12 AM

Clothes just aren't made how they used to be. I'm serious! I have a dress from when I was 8 that was in such good condition I made it into a skirt and gave it to a friend. That's a 10 year old dress (at least!) If I tried that with a dress I got now? Yea, right.
Most expensive clothes fall apart quickly so you buy another one sooner and therefore spend more money, while the cheaper clothes stay together longer.
I had a dress I had just bought do something similar, but not to that extreme. O,o

Motion 03-03-2008 10:22 AM

Yes this has happened to me before...

When I was in my bed with my girlfriend. She ripped all my clothes. :(

My friend was drunk once and told me to rip open his shirt because it had snap buttons and apparently he found it hilarious that night to rip them open. So I did it to humour him, except my pinky got caught in the chain of this heart necklace his girlfriend had given him, and it broke. D:
I felt really bad, lol.
