"Let me clean your room! PLEASE!!"

One of the many pet peeves I have is non-cleanliness. Dx I get so annoyed if someone's house or room has things sprawled all over the room.

So in my last thread "Themed Parties!" I said I was going to a party right? Well the girl's room was a MESS! And holy crap mess beyond belief! Dust collected everywhere. Random crap stuffed under the bed. Pencil, pieces of math set, paper, books, old smelly socks, all on the ground. @@ It was a nightmare room. I literally begged her that if I could clean up her room. I know it is slightly rude of me and I felt bad because she might've felt bad too, but it's that bad enough to have a classmate wanting to clean up your room! I swear to god, if I could, I would dedicate a couple of days cleaning up her room. Seriously, I wanted to be clean so bad. Believe it or not, she said she spent a week cleaning her room. Imagine when she didn't! Since she lived alone with her mom, the living room wasn't so clean either. I even picked up after before I left the house. X_X

Now, that is only the girl's room. Imagine a whole house! My family's friends' house was a little less messy than the girl's room but the thing is that it is the whole house so it's just as bad if you clump them all together. I feel slightly annoyed each time I step in. I don't like cleaning a house compared to a room. @@

Maybe it's because my mom is a neat freak, she rubbed it off on me. Ever since I came home on Saturday night, I had the urge to clean my room so much. ;0;

Discuss. =)

Amo_Angelus 03-03-2008 09:38 PM

Would you like to help me clean? Mines just boxs. I just can't be bothered to unpack :P

Sagitar 03-03-2008 09:39 PM

lol I'd be happy if someone cleaned my house, but on the other hand I wouldn't want anyone to clean my house because of all the personal stuff xP

I admit, I'm a messy girl :3 I can't keep my things in order. Luckily I have my fiance telling me to clean up every now and then, so my house isn't a TOTAL mess x3 <3

Archer 03-03-2008 09:43 PM

My room is always a mess. XD I've been telling myself that I'm going to go through all my shelves and stuff and throw out what I don't need anymore for years but it never gets done...

But my clutter is ORGANIZED, at least. XD I know what's in that pile of stuff, and that one over there. And I know what's UNDER that pile, and that thing I need later is in that general part of the floor.

I'm not really proud of it, but organization and having lots of floor and surface space has never been important to me. XD

entropy 03-03-2008 09:43 PM

Haha.
I'm messy, too.
>_<

I don't think that I would know how to clean someone else's house.
Like I wouldn't know what is important and what isn't, where to put things, etc..
So it isn't a matter of me not wanting to clean someone else's house.
I just don't understand how one would go about doing it.
xD

Neshaka 03-03-2008 09:49 PM

I hate people tidying my stuff. They don't know where it goes, and I'm quite attached to some of the things other people would label as junk.

I'm a bit messy, but I don't have other people in my room, so it's not really anyone else's business. :/

Whimsy Charlie 03-03-2008 09:50 PM

I don't like it when my room is a mess...it's weird, really weird cause I feel like a mess when my room is a mess. It sometimes gets messy, but if it's way out of control I just have to fix it or I'll feel crappy about it. XD It's depressing to me, but at the same time I don't like others organizing things for me cause then I can't find anything. D:

Like I have a mess, but I know exactly where everything is. XD

Clorissa 03-03-2008 10:12 PM

My ex-friend used to do that all the freaking time. She BEGGED to clean Mel's room xD

I don't mind my room being messy.. It's like, fine if it's not all in order. I'm messily organized.

~PrincessSerenity~ 03-03-2008 11:33 PM

Wow...you sound like my cousin. She hates a messy room. Personally I could care less, although dust affects my asthma. I keeps organized piles of clutter though so I know what's what.

It's not like I have anyone over anyways.

Yeah 03-03-2008 11:48 PM

You can come clean my house Sadistix, I wouldn't mind a bit. I had a friend who would come to my house and want to wash my dishes, it was weird because, she never wanted to do them at her own house. I wouldn't have been able to stay in that room if it was that, I can't stand filth.

The Third Wheel 03-03-2008 11:53 PM

You can come clean my room, I'd love it.

At school, I'm a neat freak (well, not my binder), but you do.not. want to see my room.
Dx

rampartte 03-03-2008 11:59 PM

I am not particularly a neat freak, I do not mind a little mess around the house. I hit my peak of non-cleanliness where I have to go on a cleaning binge though. I cannot stand visible dustballs or hair in corners of the hallway. But I only vaccuum about once every two weeks, if I get the urge to do so.

Dust accumulated on things bothers me less unless it is an object I use often. My computer for instance, gets a nice dusting and cleaning inside and out at LEAST once a week. I cannot stand having the screen or fan dusty looking. But I don't need to dust shelves I dont' stare at more than once a month. That may sound dirty, but really I do not think dust accumulates THAT fast on stuff.

I have to say the one place I am a neat freak in is the bathroom. Just a hint of mildew or 'bathroom grime' creeps me out, so I make sure to prevent any from forming.

Other than that I do chores around the house generically, but I let the mess kind of pile up a little before I spend half a day finally cleaning it all up.

But I used to know these two girls in college who NEVER cleaned their room. Not once all year. I do not think they even changed their sheets all year, and their trash only got taken out when it was overflowing and spilling onto the floor. I avoided going into that room at all costs. I might not mind some mess, but the extreme of filth I would not be able to live in either.

Din 03-04-2008 01:30 AM

I would pay you to help me clean my room! xD;
I'm working on it right now.

In fact, my room is the only messy thing I have.
My locker and stuff are spotless.

Winter Wind 03-04-2008 01:56 AM

-locks bedroom door-
You're NOT coming into my room then.
xDDD
You should see it, it's so damn messy.
<3

But I still can find things, and at least there's no dust.
xD
I luff messy rooms.
I hate the clean ones, makes my room look SO bare. xD

Jennifer 03-04-2008 02:33 AM

I'm like Monica Geller from FRIENDS. I love cleaning, haha. My house and others. If I go to someone else's house and I find it dirty, I'll BEG them to let me clean it. I'll feel dirty forever if I don't. x_____x

Compromised Evil 03-04-2008 02:45 AM

I Am Probably The Messiest Clean-Freak Anyones Ever Known. >,< If That Even Makes Sense. If Somethings A Mess It Annoy's The Heck Out Of Me, Especially When My Big Rec Room Get Messy I Just HAVE To Clean It Before I Can Sleep. But For Some Reason My Room... I Just Can't Get It Clean. No Motivation. I Mean I WANT It To Be Clean, But... ^-^;; Yea...

SeesAWE 03-04-2008 03:16 AM

My house is such a mess. And then my room is spotless. Well, it's a little cluttered because it's so small and I have no much random crap, but it's always the cleanest room in the house because I clean the most out of anyone in my family and I spend most of my time in my room.
My family are slobs really.

I have a friend who will go nuts cleaning my house when she comes over. It annoys me. ><
We could be doing something fun and she's cleaning my effing house.

juniper_silver 03-04-2008 03:42 AM

I love to clean when I have time. It usually doesn't get done whenever I'm running around working, going to school, and just out of the house in general, but if I'm laying around in my room a lot I always end up cleaning it.

It's a great feeling to have a clean room, but usually I'm too busy to clean. My closet is always organized though. My clothes are grouped in colors and within the colors, shortest sleeve to longest sleeve. Also they are seperated between work and everyday clothes. I don't know why I take the time to be obsessive about my closet, but I do.

I've helped friends clean their rooms before. I'm nosy, so it's fun to see what stuff they have. I haven't begged anyone to let me help them clean their room though. The friends I've helped happened to be talking about needing to clean their rooms and I offered to help. Another good thing about helping people go through stuff and get rid of some of it is that you can keep some of the stuff they don't want anymore.

I hate messy bathrooms, I always have to clean that out. But I think there's a point where you get tired of cleaning up after people, and you want to force them to do it themselves. :/ Honestly, once you get outta high school, you shoul be able to do your own dishes and pick up after yourself.

babydvlangel 03-04-2008 04:17 AM

Wow..., it's not bad to be a neat freak.
But I happen to be one of those people i between, I like certain things to be organized and some things to be laying around. But in certain areas of the house is a got to be clean, places like the bathroom. I can't stand dirty bathrooms, if it is dirty, I would just go look for another bathroom. I seen plenty of messy houses and my house is pretty messy itself. I'm too used to the messy thing, but at times I just become a neat person, I'm organized in the way I put things, so if someone touched my stuff, I can tell because I know where I put things and how they looked before someone touched it.

Chexala 03-04-2008 04:31 AM

Hehe, I've been known to clean my friends' rooms for them and with them. What is slightly ironic is that during the time of my life when I did that most, my room was a perpetual mess. Oh god, it was so bad, all the time. I had to wade through my stuff to get from one side to the other, and I had little paths winding through everything. I think the reason I liked cleaning my friend rooms was because I really did want to clean my room, but there was too much emotional baggage wrapped up in all my stuff and I'd get distracted. With my friends' stuff, everything was new and neutral to me. It was therapeutic or something.

Then I had a roommate for a couple years in high school who was messier than me, which prompted me to start being cleaner. I think I've reached a happy medium where I'm tidy and organized, but not compulsive about cleaning all the time.

What's funny is that as I got cleaner, I also learned how to care less about other people's space. I do fantasize about cleaning other people's places sometimes <cough> but since I've been on both side of the spectrum, and I would feel totally violated if someone cleaned my room, I let it be.

life in red and black 03-04-2008 05:19 AM

You would probably freak at the sight of my room then... My dad complains all the time that my room doesn't belong to a girl XP It's such a mess!

But I do like cleaning after myself when I'm over at other people's houses, and maybe even clean a little for them, but I try not to do it since I might move their things and they wouldn't be able to find it.

Caroline 03-04-2008 10:16 AM

I'm messy but clean. Like, I'll have stuff thrown around, but you can walk around my room/house with your shoes off and not have your socks/feet turn black from gross stuff on the floor. >->

I have a thing for cleaning surfaces. I hate dirty surfaces. I clean my best friend's electric stove top after we cook at his place. P: & I've cleaned the glass coffee table over at some other friends' apartment several times. Oh and a supposed triple platinum rapper has told me I'm welcome to clean the electric stove tops at any of his houses LOLOL.

mystic kiwi 03-04-2008 10:22 AM

I think that if you're having guests over you should at least make an attempt to have everything clean before they come over. I used to do overnight pet sitting and some people's houses were so bad that I didn't even want to stay there unless I cleaned their whole house, or at least where I was going to be the most.

There was this one lady that had years worth of dust all over everything in her house and things thrown all over. She even had dried food all over the stove and left a pot of old Mac and Cheese out of the stove when she left. It was so gross. She wanted me to spend two weeks at her house too.

havenmasters 03-04-2008 12:17 PM

I'm a little bit messy, but it's in a slightly cluttered sort of way. It may look a little crazy, but I know where everything is.
The thing is, my problem is lack of places to put things. If I have somewhere to put everything, I keep things where they go. But if I don't, things end up stacked around of just sitting in a pile on the floor. I really try to keep things clean, but it's hard when there just isn't anyplace to put things.

I like a clean room/house, but I'm not bad about it. I'll let things slide for a day or so, especially when I'm busy. But I ALWAYS do the maintenance stuff. Like, I may not actually do dishes for a week, but I rinse the dishes after I use them and throw leftover food away. So when I do get to do dishes, they are really easy to clean and don't have food all stuck to it.
I'm living with my boyfriend for a short time and I know I drive him crazy because he is uber anal about things being clean. I'm sure the only reason he hasn't flipped completely is because I do do dishes and I cook for him sometimes.

However, the house is always cleaned when expecting guests, no matter where I live. I'm less worried when it's family, but I still straighten things up at least.
