spunky3:♥~~this is the threadie i was talking about. there are some links on Knerd's frront page. maybe something will help? |
Thanks I've actually been checking this thread out lately. [ninja]
There are so many cool tips xD |
i love the threadie title. Knerd♥ is always so creative. *references the bullseye boogie* [bunny] |
Hummy, it's actually based on an organization started - I think somewhere in Wisconsin?
Look it up, there are two books with the title, and chapters of the group all across the country. |
*pops back in here*
I'm working on making a cuttlefish from crochet ~ |
Quote:
Can't wait to see your cuttlefish when you're done, Sora! They're such odd looking creatures to begin with, I bet a crochet version would be funny. |
i still love the title. |
Natch. I still have the two books on knitting (unless more S&B knitting books have been published?), the original Stitch & Bitch, and Stitch & Bitch Nation, which helped me out immensely with my knitting. By the time I realized the books on crochet existed, I didn't need them, having already taught myself via Youboob vids and various other sites like About.com.
|
When I think about it, those books really helped me out. They're great for a beginner, some of the projects look intimidating but they're great projects when you want to try something different. Knitting videos always help and when it was around (I don't think it's around anymore) there was a show called Knitty Gritty on DIY network and the website had great tutorials.
|
I've got a book from Knitty Gritty as well, but I haven't found it very helpful. The patterns are kind of plain and common sense. If you have even a little background in knitting, you could probably design 99% of it yourself. I've never seen the show or website, though, but maybe that was a bit more diverse. [yes]
|
It was just nice that there was a tv show about knitting :P I do find that videos are the most helpful in this kind of hobby.

THREAD STALKAGE.
Ummm, hi. I'm knitting a teddy bear for my nephew who's going to be born in about two weeks... with yarn that I bought about a month ago... \bricked for procrastinating |
Yeah, I probably would have started about the day after hearing that he'd been conceived.
|
Two weeks is lots of time! If you hunker down, I'm sure that you can get the project finished. And if not, the kid would probably appreciate the gift a bit more on his first (or second or third) birthday. [lol]
|
Yeah, true. XD But it seems I've gotten into the habit of making stuffed bears for babies in the family (and one outside) that are being born. :P I'll finish it in time, though... I always do... barely... o_O;;;
|
How much more do you have to do? If you have a pattern and have done it before, hopefully you'll be able to speed knit it out. [lol]
|
Post pics for us when you're finished, Mai! :)
|
I do have a pattern, and it's super simple... garter stitch and knit flat, with some increases and decreases. It's just me procrastinating mainly. .___.;; I'll make up for it by being a super-awesome aunt? XD But yeah, I'll be sure to take photos of it before sending it off. :)
|
I love your outfit BellyButton.
And is this hangout more for knitting or does sewing apply as well? |
Nephila, I think that it certainly would apply towards all textile crafts, but may also apply to any crafts in general - though Knerd would have to give the final word on that. xD
|
I'm almost afraid to post in here, in case Knerd gets all up in my face about me being a non-starter on my quilt xD I have put all my bits of fabric, and the wadding, into a vintage suitcase that I brought home from work, that's got to count for something, right?
And I see Knerd added the quilt to the list of doable projects on the front page, awesome :D |
I want to get started on a quilt, too, but I just don't have the money or time.
|
Quilting sounds fun. but we don't have the monies either. :(
|
I have craft fairs coming up...unfortunately supplies cost money D:
